It's not that difficult. If it's too hot close to the lava and too cold far away from it, Darboux's theorem guarantees that there is a place between the above two places where it will be just right.
Hi, the video is fantastic! But the audio is not original, but just some other recording. I think, Isak really should clearly mention that in the video description. So awesome Isak! The last shoots of how thick the lava field is, is astonishing. So quickly it flowed into that quarry. Would like to see more updates on how it progressed, in that particular area.
On the one hand I really like the sounds. On the other hand, I know they're not real (because you can't hear the drone). And the fact that the exact same one or two sound loops are used for EACH ONE of these videos makes me feel they're not accurate at all. Still cool sounding, but a bit of a bummer. I would prefer if the sound is more realistic to the state of the eruption. In this case that would probably not be much sound at all.
The lava was building up for most of the last 6 days, so it was going to flow out somewhere. It seems like the gravel quarry was one of the least important places to get covered. Much better than overflowing the walls protecting Grindavik.
@Isak this is absolutey the best nature photography anyone could ever ask for! What an amazing eye you have for your country! It's really SO-O-O mind boggling! Thank you for your posts, live streams and your humble presence on this earth😊
It's definitely worth turning up the sound as well! Love the bit with the little truck going through the landscape and the snow it shows how small people are in nature sometimes.
A tiny microscopic view of what the whole of planet earth must have looked like so many millennia ago. Yet Earth survived and the people of Iceland continue to fortify, learn from the fiery, fragile earth crust beneath them.
I so appreciate that you aren't overlaying this beautiful footage with obnoxious music or doing any dramatic editing. The footage speaks for itself and doesn't need any flourishes.
I had to share this, because the footage is awesome! I remember from the livestream how difficult the conditions were, and was right there with you, jubilating because you were allowed to film from across the gravel pit. The comments about the intensity of the radiant heat are still processing in my brain. And the SOUNDS! Fantastic work!
Yes! Shells! I’ve been trying to remember what the clinking edge of a-á flow reminds me of. Glass, chimes, even rocks aren’t quite right. It’s like someone pouring a box of oyster shells out.
Thanks for flying and streaming this the other day for so long until you needed sleep and food😊. Awesome footage. Melting one drone and almost another one! Great videos!
Spectacular footage! Thank you so much for all you have done and are doing to provide us with excellent coverage of what is happening as it happens. This video would make excellent ASMR if on a loop - very soporific!
Hi Isak SUPER VIDEO! I have seen many videos, but this one, makes me speechless!! That was really amazing! Thanks for sharing! I look forward to seeing the next stream. We have no volcanoes in Denmark, and that makes it more interesting to follow. The nearest volcano is Laavher See in Germany, 500 kilometers to the south. It is still active. Stay safe out there. Greetings from Cailie in Denmark
@@mramschYes as with all of drone footage from an eruption site the audio is added during editing process, I added a disclaimer about that to the description🙂

This is not lava overflowing some protective wall, but flowing down into the quarry north of Grindavik. Just use Google Maps to see the location of the quarry.
Has anyone speculated as to how long it might take to fill the quarry with lava? Hopefully you will make a return visit to show us the progress. Thank you for sharing.
Disclaimer: I’m not local. I believe the quarry has an outlet at a lower elevation, so the lava won’t be able to pool much there. Google Iceland Meteorological Office for maps of flow fields. These maps are updated every 3-5 days though, so Isak’s streams will be more recent, on most days. :)

A drone makes a very loud, annoying noise. So, correct - sound recorded separately.
If I have to make a choice between recorded sound of the lava flow popping and cracking, or generic music, I will choose popping cracking everytime.

The lava water fall was absolutely stunning, Isak. Thank you so much for helping us see that. Wow!
Scary. A huge shoutout to the workers who dare to work in this hot and smoking mess!
My heart was in my mouth. If that digger breaks down, the guy would be toast trying to get away across the lava.
Thank you Isak, truly awesome.
I hope those earth movers get some kind of recognition for their heroic work ❤
My thoughts exactly! I also wondered if they get "hazard pay" for such treacherous work. Mad respect!

Man!! and I thought that my country Australia was crazy. Now I see it snowing in a lava field, you win.
From a fellow Aussie, yep !!
Yes, it is so removed from anything we have in Australia, it’s like watching something from another planet!
There is a big fire burning under ground in Australia, but this seems more threatening for sure.stay safe ❤ Icelanders.
