Lucky, how much? Right now out here in California I've seen them around $1700-$1800 on average for the 2016 model. I really want an aero geometry bike. This would be my first choice if I were ever to get one.
Money no object list: 1) Pinarello Dogma F8 2) Cervelo S5 3) Cervelo S3 Was going to put the S5, which looks more aero, above the F8, but then remembered team sky have used the F8 (with TT bars) for individual time trials this season over their Time Trial specific bike the Bolide!
BikeRadar Great review as always and this bike looks perfectly suited to me. At 6'6 and 105kg i'm never going to be a climber (not that this can't climb of course) and have been looking for something that is super quick on the flat and will be good for triathlons, yet comfortable enough for a day ride when I fancy. Looks like this could be perfect and then I could swap out the wheels for the commute to work. Just wondering if there's anything else you'd recommend looking at which is similar in being really speed orientated, yet suitable for a daily commute, triathlon/TT at the weekend and still comfortable enough to take out for the day ?
I have ridden both the Propel Advanced Pro 1 and the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX and I personally find the Propel a much better ride. Comfort, handling, braking, sprinting and everything else is better on the Propel. The Aeroad is a nice bike but the Propel is just better.
viralfire tour magazine did a test of aerobikes earlier this year, including wind tunnel testing, compliance testing and a stiffness test, including obviously real world testing. in the wind tunnel equipped with zipp 404 the most aerodynamic bikes where the top of the line cervelo s5 and the top of the line canyon aeroad, which had equal drag overall across all tested yaw angles. the propel wasn't even in the top 5. in every other test, compliance, stiffness and real world testing, the canyon dominated and was the overall winner. the aeroad 7.0 also weights a kilo less than the propel advanced 2 even though its equiped with di2. so no, the propel is not better, in any way. its not even close.
+FLASH2394 your comment is largely useless, if he enjoys the propel more then the canyon guess what, the propel is better. just as if someone prefers the canyon its better. numbers dont mean shit if you dont enjoy it as much
+FLASH2394 -- Well you can rely on somebody's data from some test that we never know even if it really happened, but I'm telling you my experience from riding both bikes. I say the Giant Propel is hugely better in every way (for me). By the way I have no association with either Giant or Canyon and favour neither over the other.
I've been looking for an aero bike and think I've settled on the Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 2016. Any review on this exact model with the Ultegra Di2.
About the same as the above... except you're getting an electronic shifting group, so an upgrade to the above IMO . I ride the previous year bike with 105 components and love it. I upgraded my stock wheels, otherwise... awesome stuff.
Just wondering, is the frame from the Pro 2 exactly the same as the one used for the Pro 1? Of course they have different paint schemes and whatnot, but would you only be paying extra for the Pro 1 because of the lower specs?
+BikeRader Require a little advice! Found the Giant Advanced Propel with Di2 for 2.5K! I KNOW it's an aero bike but just wondered if you can fit 28" tyres on it?
How tall are you and what size frame are you riding in the review? I am looking to purchase the Propel Advanced 1 .. I am 5'9" and I was thinking about purchasing the small frame. Would you recommend the small or the medium?
please speak up and more clearly, I could hardly understand what you are saying. As for the bike the frame size looks too big for the rider in the video. I have friends with Propels, the propel gives a harsh ride when compared with the TCR and other 'non aero' road frames.
I find it quite funny that the test rider in this video spent zero time in an actual aero position, riding out of the saddle everywhere! 2.5k for a complete carbon aero machine is about the same as I paid for my Venge frameset, so you cannot knock the value as 105 is a great group in 5800 flavour. £1200 for DT Swiss alloy rims + plastic aero covers seems optimistic - no wonder you never see anyone with them on their bike!
Well it's obviously just a demo bike, and not his size, mabe that's why they hardly show him riding in the saddle. But they could at least have slammed the stem.
Really surprised with this decision considering all the hype the Canyon Aeroad has been given as of late. I rode the Giant propel a few weeks ago and the bike was fairly comfortable, but because of how the shifter cables were laid out the shifting was clunkier than to be expected with a 105 groupset.
Vegas Cyclist Okay, but this model (Pro 2) Giant is not available in USA, either. You can only buy the Pro 1, which is higher spec'd and more money, which means there's probably other better bikes in that pricing category.
Vegas Cyclist I honestly would buy the Canyon in a heartbeat if it weren't for the fact that it was basically unattainable in the States. That will probably change in the future, but they are losing business by not exporting to the US.
Brett Edson Canyon did initially sell in the United States. They stopped because they were having issues with shipping. What doesn't make any sense is why Canyon keeps sending test bikes to American media, like Road Bike Action, Bicycling, etc...only to torment readers who can't buy them.
this years P-SLR1 Aero wheelset (on this bike) are not the same as last year £1200 version - this years are 1800g apparently (from the international Giant site). the P-SLR0 Aero are the ~1600g set
zfiddy50 You're paying for the frame. If you walked into a Giant dealer, to buy Propel Advanced Pro frameset alone, it would cost 90% of what this model does! That makes this an incredible buy.
I'm a fan of this bike, especially since I can't get the canyon in the US, glad to see it's holding up, now I just need to keep saving up
I like the frame design next to my list to buy. need to wait :)
I have just bought the Propel SLR 2!
seems like Propel is a really great bike

+Random Bike Trips
just remember to save some cash for 25mm tires , for the aluminium frame as the ride on the 23 is too harsh
Malcolm Tan hey I thought Propel Advanced 2 were carbon composites? They're pretty much aluminum?
+Random Bike Trips
I got the aluxx slr 2 , which is alumium.
Propel SLR2 is only for asian market right?
I love how this channel takes the "there's nothing wrong with 105" approach. Also, kudos to the presenter dude for losing some weight.
Very Smooth,Fast,Good Breaking.Love to sprint it everyday.
thinking of full carbon wheelset upgrades.
Love my 2015 after I put some better wheels and got the brakes sorted... light, stiff, aero, comfortable... great bike IMO.
just like BMC GF01 105 with that price because its frame
i rarely hear "comfort" in aero bike zone, makes me want to try it for a ride.

At 3:52 you can see the cyclists white "Planet X" cycling shoes. Can someone kindly direct me as to where I can purchase a pair from please? Thanks.

that's quite an oxymoron.
+FLASH2394 Yawwwwwwn! Your comments are idiotic and worthless.
How come REACTO never gets mentioned as "Best Aero" in any reviews anywhere??? :(
in terms of durability of this propel is it that good? planning to buy this one machine

Yep, frame is identical in material, geometry etc.
hi is this available in the market? im from Oman, any link to order this baby?
I have seen this bike from close. Its Insane... better than nowdays bikes... Anyone knows where i can find one?? :D
Is the Giant Propel Advanced Pro more comfortable than the Cervelo S3?
+BikeRader Require a little advice! Found the Giant Advanced Propel with Di2 for 2.5K! I KNOW it's an aero bike but just wondered if you can fit 28" tyres on it?
I would say no. My 25's barely clear the cable on the rear brake. I would safely say a 28 would hit the cable.
+Sean Kahl Yes, had the bike a few months, no way 28's would fit, not required anyway.
Slam the stem for the video at least!
The brake hoods are higher than the saddle ffs. So lame.
Agree, no point of using an aero-frame if you sprint with the bars that high up. You need to get LOW.
How tall are you and what size frame are you riding in the review? I am looking to purchase the Propel Advanced 1 .. I am 5'9" and I was thinking about purchasing the small frame. Would you recommend the small or the medium?
+Mike Cote I am 5'9" and bought the medium. It fits great and I believe it is the size that Giant recommends on their website.
how does it climb though?
Why do You think its better than The canyon cf slx?
Can someone please compare Giant Propel to Canyon Aeroad?
Just a brief comparison to get me started would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
what about the cervelo s3?
It would be interesting to see this compared to the new Argon 18 Nitrogen.
What's that, like, 2 cm drop from saddle to bars? Slam that stem and hike up that seatpost, at least for the video!
He mentions that it's an 11-28 cassette but on this model it's actually a 12-25 cassette. I wish it was 11-28 though. I need easier gears.
please speak up and more clearly, I could hardly understand what you are saying. As for the bike the frame size looks too big for the rider in the video. I have friends with Propels, the propel gives a harsh ride when compared with the TCR and other 'non aero' road frames.
The Pro 2 model is regional only... It's not even available in the USA.
Neither is it in SG. :(
I like pay off for this can i do that cos want to buy this bike

Neill Hammond Well, apart from 00:23, 00:27, 00:51, 00:53, 01:02, 01:04, 01:59, 02:02, 02:30, 03:23, 03:27, 03:45 & 04:04.
BikeRadar Sill looks slightly ridiculous throwing the bike left and right like that.
***** We'll have to agree to disagree.

This would be 3rd in my list. I'd go with
1) Cervelo s3
2) Canyon Aeroad CF SLX
3) Giant Propel
Too bad the Propel comes with hilariously wide bars. Not just the XL but even the L has a 44cm wide bar. C'mon, it's supposed to be aero!
this years P-SLR1 Aero wheelset (on this bike) are not the same as last year £1200 version - this years are 1800g apparently (from the international Giant site).
the P-SLR0 Aero are the ~1600g set
dont like the style of the rider. Looks like hes trying to hard to be contador.
The VENGE
saw the new advanced pro 1 at 2000 pounds
Canyon Aeroad CF SLX tops all aero bikes
no thanks. i'll take a canyon aeroad cfslx 7.0 di2 any day of the week of this.
LoL go for it then hahaha
Nice looking bike, but I don't like the paint job, makes it look cheap/street bike like.
You guys need a good mechanic.
this cost a lot I guess
"much, much faster" ?????
2500+ with 105? Goodluck with sales...
zfiddy50 Its an awesome bike ill admit, but its ridiculously overpriced which is stupid considering they manufacture in Taiwan...
Max Deutsch as do most manufacturers actually
What's wrong with 105?

and also the wheels
CUDO
lol he's got the real bikerface haha #raceface
Still perfer my Canyon Aeroroad
Rides like a rapper..
Biks. Locas
Bla bla bla as typical english. A może w Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie!!
why the talker wear t-shirt ,and the rider wear winter clothes.hahah
王世龙 The talker is INSIDE
Giants wheels are crap, wheels need binning straight away, really noisy hubs that will disintegrate within a couple of revolutions
Darren Johnson if your bike was from 1995 its time for an upgrade
Really uggly paint. In my oppinion
