Another excellent video full of great practical tips for us thanks Eevi. I'll happily check out the templates soon. I've watched the other two videos on layout and font referenced here and found them very useful too. I have no idea how you find time to put these together, but I'm sure I'm one of many creatives who really appreciate the videos and you!
Great tips Eevi! I’m formatting text on my illustrations currently and I have black text on light backgrounds and white text on a few dark backgrounds. And then sometimes a bubble to put black text on when the background is complicated. I don’t think it looks bad at all but I’m not sure if that’s breaking the “rules.”
Hi Shane! I don't think there are any hard-set rules, per se. As long as it works for you and your book, and just looks and feels right for your story, you'll be okay. For example, while some stories and illustration styles may work well with text bubbles, others might not.
Hi Eevi! I am completely clueless when it comes to graphic design software! I am using watercolor and ink to illustrate my first book. Will the children’s book templates you created show me how to go from actual paper illustrations to having my illustrations formatted in my book? Does that make sense? I’m so confused about scanning, placing, formatting, etc my illustrations. Thank you so much!!
Hi Virginia! You would take your scanned-in illustrations and drag them into the template, where you can then drag and resize them. But remember, it's always best to create our illustration in the already correct dimensions, so we don't have to trim off any important parts or elements later on. I so hope this helps!
Absolutely, that helps tremendously! You are so kind! I am going to get your Plug n Go templates…I’m so excited! Thank you and I hope you have a blessed week!

Is there software specifically for children's book text?
