Thats how i did mine this year under a wood fire, the old timers had nothing more than that, a good 55 gallon drum cut down and some place to build a fire is all you need
Those walnut hulls will dye a white cotton Tshirt a perfect desert tan
Wish I had these vids when I started 10 years ago lol
I love how informative you are. I don't know a whole lot about trapping and am new to it and I appreciate the extra tips like "don't wax conibears though". Stuff like that is important.
Even though I am not a trapper, I find all of your videos informative and pleasurable to watch!!! Please keep up the great work and take care in the upcoming season!!!
“I’m do’in this for you.” How cool is that!!! Thank you indeed
Love the videos man. I don’t trap or even have an interest in it but I can’t stop watching
this brings back so many memories of my late father boiling his traps I used to go with him on his trap lines..so may good memories i recognize the whole process
Good tip! Thanks
Thank you for the great videos. First year trapper and I am really enjoying learning from watching your videos!
Melt your bee's way in your boiling water it will float on top and coat the traps as you pull them out.
I’m so glad you decided to re film all your videos. I’ve watched all your trapping videos and even though it’s all just about the same info. It’s great to watch fresh content.
Thank you
Had to run over and listen to the meat eater podcast. From one southern Illinois boy to another, damn good.
Didn’t waste time, just got the job done.
Video suggestion. Trapping truck, bags, etc organization for effiency.
Season started for me yesterday so I set my traps today
we use walnuts and logwood dye to dye our traps, we paint our dog proof traps also
Hey stu. Pals has me working in Indy all winter. No trapping for me . You're all I got this year so keep the videos coming
My grandfather was my influence in hunting fishing trapping. I wish he could have been able to get the info you shared with us. I run 1/3 the traps he did and my yields are much better. I know the best piece of advice I have got was pan tension. He would have been amazed how few skunk opossum I don't mess with. Thanks again
Thanks for the education , speed dip is what I used for the dog proofs. Gummy is how they came out. I tried acetone to clean them up with no luck . Bought new ones and ready to start over. I’ll try the full metal jacket next 👍
Black walnuts & sumac to u!
Great video!
My favorite dye too! Cheap and easy.
Thanks for sharing I appreciate it didn't know it was that easy
I gotta get started. I’m so far behind this year on prep. I’ve dyed with walnuts and it works great! Last year, I spray painted my mb550’s because they were new and didn’t want to wait on the rust. That’s works, too!
Thanks for all ya do!!!!
You where talking about the smoke I use smoke for cover Scent for deer
I'm old school to !! Great to see your vid ,, just a tip you can bag up your walnuts in an mesh bag ,an lift them out wen your done ...Also simmer on Monday Then let them sit ... Keep up the great vids!!
Very well spoken. Great video I love how you haven’t fallen into the big money rut like everyone else “fmj” etc. I myself grew up using sumac since we don’t have many walnuts here where I’m at in mn. I love it keep these videos coming🍺🍺🍺
Wish we had walnut trees around here close, thanks for the videos
I've done it like your doing in the 70 and 80 had to quit trading late 80s thank for the vidio
Thanks for the great content!!
I always enjoy your videos 👍👍🇺🇸
🤔Pretty sure the Globalists have a bunch of these set for us.
Great video! I'm learning...
Oh I think you can use the water into ink. 💯
I dye my traps by putting them all on a wire, digging a hole in the creekbank just under the waters surface and completely filling the hole with wet, black, mud.Leave for a week.Traps will be nice and black.
Good information CC
Could you do a video of all the baits you use and how to make them??. Please and thank you!
Thanks Stu
Do you put anything between the jaws of the trap ??
When you rust new ones with vinegar do you have to rinse them off with water or soda water before you die them ?
Do you reuse the pogo anchors on your DP's from year to year? Don't they get all bent up when you pull them out?
Close to 63,000 Subbies!
Try “Glow in the dark” paint. Had good success with it while experimenting. Paint is kinda pricy tho
Just curious how much hides are going for these days? Last time I sold any ways a little over 20 years ago (97 or 98). I think larges were 18.00 then.
Just FYI, the molecules being pulled out of the walnuts are called tannins, not tannics. Thanks for the great videos!
I was thinking that also but he did say tannin at one point, he did tannic more though. That might be an area thing, like people call poplar trees popul where I am.
Before spraying your dog proofs with paint, do you clean them or wash them out in any way? FYI, this is my first year trapping and your videos have been a huge help! Thanks for everything you are doing!
I'm wondering the same thing. Do you dye them first? Do you do anything to decrease them when they are new?
That's it let's make those ants stick with that white spray paint if they try to steal the paint & lures. I can see your reasoning!
Nice
Do you have a video of the retrievable anchors you use now and what and where can I get them
👍
Do you have to wax the traps
Won't the heat mess up your spring tension?
Hey question what is the purpose of dying traps
Where do you sell your hides,,,,i used to trap many years ago. But i haven't found a fur buyes in years
Hit the 👍
What brand of dog proof do you use and why that brand of dog proof
I am not sure if you will see this but have you ever shared how you skin a coyote?? If so pls let me know. I have been looking at alot of your videos and i am liking them it helps alot
did ya miss the barrel with that walnut at 3:30? love the vids!
nah it went it.
Hey how about a skunk trapping video this fall/winter
Dude you look like Wayne Gretzky
How can you set coyote sets around here in southern Illinois with all the free ranging does here
Free ranging does?
I think just about everywhere has free ranging doe and bucks. Wild animals generally free range.
1st 💯
Do u collect urine from trapped fox? If u do how dou do it?
Didn’t know you were a Nissan guy
When I waxed my 2 year old traps they came out with a lot of very flaky, scaly whitish wax on them. Anyone ever have the same?
I’m no expert, only a beginner, but I saw a video where they said boil the traps in dye, take out and then drop straight into wax while the metal on the traps is still hot. If you dipped them into wax while the metal was cold, If you didn’t allow enough time for the metal to heat to the same temp as the wax then you end up with white flaky film of wax on traps when you take them out. Hope that might help.
@@mattwilliams5435 I'm also a beginner. Have heard you can wax cold traps but you need to let them sit in the wax and come up to temperature before you pull them out.
Possibly the old wax needs to be boiled off the traps? I think you have to de-wax them, dye and then wax again. Exactly sure though, hopefully someone with some experience can chime in?
Anyone paint their beaver foothold? Or just go ahead and dye them and wax them like all the rest?
Here's an idea,... Post your videos a day or two early on your patreon page for those of us who are contributing to your future success so that we have the incentive of advanced viewing to keep us paying for your premium content.
Or maybe just paint
Please stop in the animals I do not like it please stop 🙏👎💔
Stop in the animal? That sounds like it's an illegal act in the USA.
Please practice saying something only one time.
