She's actually a vampire and she's been practicing this the last 300 years
cassi farcas xD
cassi farcas lol
It's the only explanation 😂
Only plausible solution to this mystery 🤔
The only theory I will believe
eddy and brett crying in the distance
Rebecca Pollock-O'Brien 😂😂
I knew it wasn't the high notes resonating 🤔
Count me in
666th like, i feel special
😂
I love how the audience was dead silent during her performance and then roared with applause when she finished. Also the pianist seemed proud of her he kept smiling at certain points and I thought that was sweet.
Zacharias Alexandr McCleod the pianist is actually a she... You can see her breasts...I'm not weird... Lol
I think the pianist is a lady !
ArtsyFartsy 101 she a women
She, but yes...no doubt she is proud!

Shes ling lings younger sister
@@laurenson7462 no she's Ling Ling
twosetviolin :D
@Claire Rong Does anyone know what tone that is? Or group of tones? I'm curious but I don't have perfect pitch.
It’s an A
Soo-Been Lee is definitely a very talented child prodigy Violinist and a rising Concert Musician! Her performance is very impressive and expressive. I can only imagine what great music she will perform when she is a professional adult Violinist someday.
she already is..
Corporal Zero that was written 3 years ago lol
Question is..what more can she do???
Professional girl I would say.
Why couldn't she be a professional child Violinist then? Why wait for adulthood?
anyone else here from Twoset?
yo
Ayyyyy
Me!
Yep
Yes yes
She must practice 40 hours a day...
yeah since she was born
Hahaha :)
What if.. she’s secretly.. *ling ling*
j-hope's thighs saves lives 😂😂 That'd explain a lot 😂
Ling ling would approve
If this girl won the second prize, what were the judges doing. They must have gone to sleep ! This girl's technique is flawless. Her powers of interpretation beyond comprehension. If you want to hear a supreme being playing the violin, listen and watch this girl. Take my word, she will go far in the music world. Dr T Jayatilaka
+Terrence Jayatilaka The judges were probably sexist because a boy that played worse than her won the competition
+Terrence Jayatilaka
Agree with you. Kevin, the 1st prize winner is also fabulous but his playing is not nearly so expressive, rich and profound like this girl. She touches the soul and every note speaks to the heart - a very rear gift in our time where playing becomes more mechanical and impersonal. The best prodigy I ever heard after Michael Rabin. I only hope that she will continue in this way and give us joy and delight for many years to come!!
Terrence Jayatilaka I dont know why, but I always like the second place winners better than the first place winners, its kinda odd.
Leon Fleisher once commented that first prize winners aren't necessarily the best performer, but the performer who offended the least judges
of course...
That moment when you prefer a twelve year old's rendition of this piece over Vengerov's.
I don't personally
A lot more musical than Vengerov ? what.. 1:17-1:22 proves you are wrong, beside check the same with vengerov's too y'all see..
It's the interpretation part where their opinion comes in. I pointed out just 5 seconds of this music and they knew what I mean by that. I think you don't know shit. When you say you prefer an interpretation it's just okay. But comparing players is the real thing, it is really hard to get to that level.
BTW nico. Have you noticed the accent on that first note in 1:17-1:22. And the piano player plays really really bad music like hits the keys like hitting two pieces of wood to each other at 1:15-1:20, I think it's why she had that accent there.
You can't compare the interpretation of a child and a very good violinist like Vengerov.
P.S. I personally prefer rendition of Vengerov more
The best part for me, besides her perfect technique, is that at her age, she is really enjoying the music, showing emotions. She doesn't look like a robot playing perfectly well.
So mature right?
Yeah, she's a person playing perfectly well...
perfection actually has a name: Soo-Been Lee.
sahar mrabet crap actually has a name
Clara baldine
perv
_ _ how are they a perv lmao
sahar mrabet no, the perfection name is: Jascha Heifetz
sahar mrabet perfection’s name is Ling Ling
Lets just contemplate for a moment
She memorized the entire piece
She practiced it 60 hours a day
Nightwish Fangirl 😂😂😂wtf
No, the amazing thing is that she can play it
Yonel Gonzalez well-wait don’t we all need to remember the pieces??
For fuck's sake not even a single sheet
Damn you, elevated neuroplasticity in young people
This is a miracle happening here !!!...Wow unbelievale such a technique in this age.
BobsArtGallery the technique and the feeling too. She must have been a violinist in a past life or something
Butter Kitchen Nah, past life isn't real.
A more accurate explanation is she train 40 hours a day.
Ak43 Aaden She's actually a prodigy so she already new how to play when she was born, and btw, there are only 24 hours in a day..
Ak43 Aaden She's actually a prodigy so she already knew how to play when she was born, and btw, there are only 24 hours in a day..
SarcasticAna..... Do you know that i'm joking?
the judges should've awarded Kevin and SoonBeen joint first prize like Christian and Chloe in 2018. they both deserved it
This was held in china. they wouldn't let a Korean share first prize with a chinese.
who do I have to sell my soul to to play like that?
Vitor Molinari God
Sell your soul to the violin
Or the composer himself
Time and practice (?)
Vitor Molinari the devil?
Everyone entitled to their own opinion I think that this version supersedes many of the best violinists. Technique flawless but it's more, I think she captured the essence of the piece and the ranging from the most playful to the drama and emotion in the first solo opening. Is there room for more growth/development in emotion, of course no one has ever been able to please everyone's tastes but I think this just about does it.
Gael Hernandez Palmer “improve”
Not Jin you may be able to learn to play a piece and play it wonderfully but it takes years to master it.
Exactly! The other performers are no doubt exceptional, with probably more technical skill, but her play style feels more soulful. This composition also helps probably.
Musical & technical maturity... She got both at this age already. No doubt. She tops many world's finest violinists!
Wow the difference between Ben Lee and Been Lee is sacrilegious indeed
Lmao
Haha good one
Dang thats a good one
this girl reminds me how beautiful life is.
don't think so
no i think im just jealous and frustrated at my own skill level haH
I wish I could think that way
Reminds me of how little talent I have - haha
I can tell you it was not so beautiful when she was forced to practice though
I feel like i am nothing😞
Edit: never had i thought that i would be getting so many replies.
Thank you so much to you all for showing empathy.
I still feel like i am nothing.

Every violinist in the world watching this- must be reaaaalllyy depressed or thinking "HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!? "
I don't even play violin, I play flute and I'm still thinking that
its all basics perfected to an absolutely insane degree... Although all of violin is like that
Oh my goodness it's so clean, technically flawless, and very rich musically :D stunning performance
Absolutley genius ...So amazing what some people are capable of doing...
Here from TwoSet
Mr Donkeyhead haha I got ur likes to 100!
No one cares
Mr Donkeyhead yes same!!!😂😂
She is a sheer wonder. Not only her technique, but even more the wonderful musical charme that is shining through all the time. Vengerov's version is great but - at least for me - this is even more impressive! Besides that: Wieniawski is a fantastic violinist-composer. In this piece he gives us all, from the most intimate moments and elegance to those exuberant outbursts of devlish virtuosity and pyrotecnics.
I like her much better than Vengerov too.
can't understand...why she failed to get first prize..unfair...
SGB I am
WHAT SHE DIDN'T WIN!?!?!?! 😯😡😢 she totally deserved first prize
Was this the same year as Ziyu He because if so, Ziyu clearly ton because he performed the hardest violin piece composed in my opinion, nel sor non mi piu sento (idk the proper name)
I guess Yesong Sophie Lee was just better... musically? Wait... wtf? That's not true... and doesn't make much sense... especially after watching this... Nvm...😖🔫
And them I notice this was made in 2012...😖🔫... im stoopid
Someone please... *SHOW ME THE DOOR*
I looking for it too 😭🤚
🚪
I should be using it too
@@isaluvscarti me too :'/
This entire performance in one word: WOW
Anyone else here from poor, suffering TwoSet? Just imagine how this girl will play when she is an adult...
When she's an adult, I honestly don't see how her playing could be that much better than this other than a bit more emotion. She's already mastered most techniques of the violin with this extremely difficult pievet
I would've been impressed to see a well-trained virtuoso to play at this level. To see a 12 (11?) year-old with 3-4 years of training play at this level is utterly unbelievable - can't be done just by pushy parents.
For those of you who understand Korean, please take a look at her interview. She's an average kid with an exceptional talent for the fiddle.
I hate life
I hate everything
7 yrs of my life wasted
I'm about to cry
Your Local Pug Dealer 😥😥😰 I’ve been playing violin for 7 years since I was 1st grade and I didn’t get into Allstate so I hate my life
its not a competition, take it easy and enjoy the music that you make.
I’ve only played violin for 2 years and I’m decent
Then make ur own music. Originality is your greatest strength.
Don't feel bad because other people perform better than you. The good news is that you can always strive to become better. The value of life lies in "becoming", not "being". Also, try to enjoy the music along the way. My skills are mediocre but I truly love the music I play.
I particularly like her nonchalance at 2:53, but it was the way she melts your heart with her singing phrasing that grabbed my attention, wow!
Did not, that reminded me of failure, you have a weird taste of music :/ It isn't singing. ITs not even quite dolce. It's like, "Hello darkness, my old friend".
Glam Msp do you not realize how much effort must have been put in for her to perfect this?
I am disagreeing on how he says that 2:53 is a singing part. That part does not require it. Bitch, don't say something like that, you don't know what I'm pointing out to.
Please, what do you mean by that? There is no ideal point to state that out when there is a whole different story.
@@creamsoda6427 as a violinist myself, I can say that to make a sound like that is really difficult. Not a failure at all, she literally perfected this piece
I can't believe, it is played by a 'child'. Just amazing!!!!
No way... I'm the concert master of a youth orchestra, and we are going to accompany SooBeen Lee in March!
Came here from two set violin trying to play this 😂😂😂
Naomi P 😃✌
Naomi P yep 😂😂😂🎻🎻
Naomi P Same!
Naomi P same lol
Same ahahahaha they rage quit on the first part
This performance is better than any other senior performer!!
She was born to play the violin
How did she remember all that OMG
Ps who came from twoset’s channel

WHY YOU NO PRACTICE 40 HOURS? LING LING PRACTICE 72 HOURS NOW AND IS DOCTOR!!! DO YOU WANT ME TO KUNG PAO YOUR CHICKEN?? GO PRACTICE LAH!! WHAT YOU DOING? Ai yah, such a disappointment. *gets a whip* NO RICE FOR YOU TONIGHT
Any person who plays an advanced piece like that practices hours over hours daily the same song. So of course she remembers it. Trust me, remembering a piece comes almost naturally. The difficult part lies in this piece's raw technique and her beauty of expression, which I might say 99% of violinists can't pull off to her abilities.
I don't know what Steven Battleheart is on about!! ... This child has deep sentiment sensitivity and and soul AS WELL as technique!!!... It brought tears to my eyes...... I LOVED it.!!!!!!!!
Soo-Been Lee: Absolute prodigious playing, skillful, fine and filled with emotion.
Ben Lee: *_iF YoU CaN PlAy sOmEtHiNg sLoWlY, yOu cAn pLaY It qUiCkLy._*
Just stumbled upon this most captivating video….wonder how Lee is doing today after 12 years. 2023 we had 15-year-old Teo Gertler playing the same piece in Budapest…he stunned all the judges and his audience, Lee here was younger and equally talented if not better.
You don't think this is musical enough? Wow. What exactly do you need?
+Sarah S. I need vengerov o.O
+jonatan black are u saying that vengerov's version is bad??
***** now I see, you were also answering to Sarah's comment xD
+EseIzan98 YES He is boring , vain and showing off on stage like a pea cock bird ........... in addition to making A LOT of grimaces ........ he plays ONLY from his head NOT from his heart !! WITHOUT watching him I can hear that it,s him playing too and it, does NOT "Get To You " !!
@@EseIzan98 I never heard anyone playing this piece better than this girl. Vengerov is a great technician but by far not the best musician.
I have listened to this at least 50 times since it came out when I was 12 too. I still haven't heard a better performance of this piece
Just take a second and realize that she played this without sheet music
playing without notes is the easy part, trust me
e l l a ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ Sheet music*
Stefy oh yes I know that
Umbreon4Life yes that’s what I meant😂😅
e l l a ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ that is like the least amazing thing about her performance. Her skillz to play such higher notes with rubato is even more amazing
Soo-Been you are amazing!! Thank you so much for your music. You are not only a wonderful 'technician' but your technique is totally at the service of your musical vision. Very few (if any) adults in the world can play like you do at this point in time. Please take care in your life and I hope you come here and play in Australia soon. I work with an orchestra here and would be happy to pass on your details if you would like :)
Умница трудяга!
Шикарный диапазон возможностей технических и музыкальнодушевных!!! ❤🎉😊
Lol what’s the point of playing the violin anymore after watching this?
For me, personally, this is something to work towards. I mean, just think of doing this one day!
Some Weirdo ;3 yess
I hear ya
Its to become as good as her or better
If you constantly compare yourself with others you are going to become a very bitter musician. Musician speaking here.

Totally worth it. I was worried like most of these events people would just solemnly clap. Hearing massive cheers heartens me, she knows she killed it.
@@happy2space Hahahhahaaa omfg
As a horn player having seen this video and the sheet music to this piece, I'm stunned by the technical skills required to play the violin... Much respect to violin players out there.
What makes me cry are the people cheering at the end. I can't help it. This is a masterpiece.
the best child violinist I have ever seen in my life. better than a lot of adult violinists.
wonderful accompanist too
Fabulous musicality. Amazing pitch.
클릭했다가...와....이 무슨...........대단하네요........;;
If someone asks you for the definition of perfection, just show he or she this.
I don't know which is more insane. The flawlessness of the performance of the insanity of the composer who wrote the piece. Let's not forget, someone wrote this for violin.
And here I am, can't even hold my bow correctly.
That slur is so hard I played this piece before and the slur was the hardest where you go from b then you go up the scale and my finger kind of hurts from all the vibrato but now I play it frequently I am surprised these kids can play these piece also I am 19.
ferdousi sultana for how many years you are playing the violin? And at what age you played it? Really impressive
you don't need to always use vibrato in every note, tho
11:47 R.I.P headphone users.
she plays so heavenly. no words can ever describe the level of excellence this child displays.. whether she is recognized as a child prodigy or not, it is truely amazing what a 12 year old can do. perfect pitch, intonation, striking technique, and tons of emotion poured into this beautiful piece of music. i feel so blessed to hear her playing
she probably got second place because ling-ling gets first place every time
Nina Pantaleone thats true
Somenone who played bumblebee got first place obviously
this comment underrated
There are really no words to describe this performance. I can't see any other violinist in the world today equalling this miraculous performance.
I've been playing viola for three years now and this makes my jaw drop! Do I have talent?!?!?
As a current of life, music is understood, it is felt, it is heard. I see images. Such vividries arise whenever i listen to this piece. This preformance here by lee was the first time ive ever listened to it. Every chord of my soul was played by her voilin's bow. It was the first piece where i became nothing but consciousness. Wieniawski brought me myself.
Damn thats deep
If she didn’t win I’m gonna mcfreakin loose it.....I didn’t even know violins could sound like that
Jinx Lynx 2nd place :(. maybe the judges discredited the girl's magnificent performance because of the pianist..?
Jinx Lynx not saying the pianist was bad or anything..
Aw man :( who knows? It’s a mystery!
This is the most satisfying performance I've ever seen
TWOSETTERS INVADE THE COMMENT SECTION!!!!!
Franz Liszt YES
Chopin still better
1:53 is just magical the tone that she makes just wow
How did she place at the competition? At :50 I just laughed and said wow. I am a fan! This is more enjoyable than almost all the versions of this I've come across.
she came in 2nd place, she is fabulous.
wtf who is 1st place then
kevin zhu, also very talented. i personally believe she should have won. but that is just my opinion
I think she was intuitively placed 2nd because she was better so that she would get more better and that was a wise decision because Kevin Zhu isn't as famous as she is now. Soo-been lee is getting a worldwide audience whereas Kevin isn't coming up as much.
FYI, Kevin recently won the first prize in the Paganini Competition in Italy (well maybe not recently, 2 years ago)
Who needs talent when you gave up on life already
C A T S & N E K O relatable
Why didn't she get the first prize? I found her way better then Kevin to be honest
i agree
My friend once said it's better to be known as "You should've won" instead of "you didn't deserve to win"
I feel like the judges found that she is amazing but there was still room for improvement so they made her second place to make her even more dedicated to the violin since she knows that "she's not the best" but yeah I totally agree, she should've gotten first place
Moises Contreras tbh, it also could be because of the lack of eye contact between the violinist and the pianist
Idk tbh
It may be that she's so young and the judges want to encourage her to keep playing, telling her to strive for even greater heights. It is very easy for a young player to win top prize and stop practicing, and hence, lose his or her ability.
She was on the top of the top
the only thing I don't like about this video is that I have to turn the volume way down at the end because the audience be like AAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHH and my speakers weep in pain
tbh this is the best version I have ever heard of this piece. She's insanely talented! Thanks so much Twoset for talking about this video
Genială violonistă!!!
the pianist seems so sweet with the little smile when she hit all the harmonics at 6:34
Yes, Twoset brought me here. And yes, I started crying watching this kid ace this piece I've never heard. Because it was so beautiful :')
(I don't even play the violin)
Until today, she has been the best performer of this piece of music. ♡♡♡♡♡
OK -- every time I watch this it's more amazing than the time before. A friend of mine said, in jest, "Jascha Heifetz is better -- " or something like that. This is the most amazing display of prodigious virtuosity I can recall having seen. Ever. She is an angel, with supernatural power. I know violinists who are the tops who would have their hands full with this. Many would run and hide.
It looks like shes been doing this for 40 years straight. She’s amazing
She could play an entire symphony with her expressions
I love watching the accompanist, you can see how much she is enjoying Soo-Been's music and it's wonderful
Великолепно!Исполнение изумительное!Браво!!!
믿기지않아....와....대단해..
魂の叫び声を聞いているようだ。 素晴らしい。😍
Art of the Violin & Music surely danced together in celebration here...and Cuteness and Poise were wed.
Althou i am a pianist , ive been playing since i was 10 and i am absolutely blown away by her performance.I honestly dont know how is such level of perfection possible.
I can't believe my eyes and ears.
can you imagine how even more amazing she’ll be when she’s older
Isn't it weird I listen to a child's playing like she's an adult. Me listening to a professional playing realizing it's a child doing it. Jgggj she amazing
Soo-Been Lee preformed in the 2012 Beijing junior finals for Violin, and came in 2nd place, not sure what the judges were thinking, but I'm sure they had their reasoning, and she is 12 in this preformance. The piano player I believe, not for sure, but I believe that is her mother. She was taught by her mother how to play violin and at 3 yrs old she had her first competition which she won. I found this girl by TwoSetViolin, who epicly failed at playing as good as her, but did play the song. To anyone trying to be like this girl, too bad, you should've had your mom give you a violin straight out of the womb
Certifié intergalactique! SooBeen Lee a établi une nouvelle référence pour ce chef-d'œuvre Wieniawski.
I'm in awe, didn't know violins can make such noises.
I'm happy to not be a violinist. That way I can fully enjoy this without feeling bad about myself at all. Beautiful masterpiece!!! Bravo Soo-Been Lee!!!
I couldn't understand why she lost to Kevin Zhu back then, but I totally get it now. And meanwhile really impressed by the juries' judgement.
Why did she lose?
This girl is really wonder!!
Watching performances like this takes you out of your own head, makes you forget your troubles, makes life worth living. Awesome.
Kids, that's what 40 hours of practice looks like
young ling ling :D
A day
I am so stunned by this performance. I get chills from all of the emotion she puts into this piece. Wish I could play violin this well. This is truly beautiful.
The best violinst I've ever seen
This is the junior finals of a competition? It’s game over, send everyone else home. She wins! 🎼🎶🎵🎻
