She is more nervous introducing herself rather than playing the violin 😦amazing
She's played the violin longer than anything in her life. She probably feels the most relaxed doing it
ikrrrrr!!
I feel like it's because talking is about you, and playing is about the music
She plays violin majority of her life probably so she is super confident doing it. 👌 10.000 hours doing of anything and you are becoming a pro 😉 On the other side she may be shy, and her English is not yet on a high level, so she is not that confident introducing herself.
This is how you know there is still a tiny child inside! Thank God.

She said when she was young, her mom had to stop her not to playing violin cuz she practiced hours for one note or phrase. She even played for more than 10 hours per day by herself even nobody pushed her to do it. What a hard work genius!!
It is fascinating to watch a child her age so determined, a child who has an actual goal that they want to achieve perfection and mastery in something. The determination alone is fascinating and equally intimidating

Chloe and SoHyun are both incredibly talented.
That's my absolute favorite version of this piece. There's something fierce and incredibly mature in her playing that makes me want to listen to it over and over again.
@Kyle Billie I hardly believe this is the result of only self motivation, this level of mastery takes a lot more than motivation.. her IQ is probably high, my bet is her parents spent a fortune on her because she had been playing since she was a very young child, there’s a video of her playing freaking Mozart at only 8 years old. I was blown away by her size, she played it like Mozart himself was her personal mentor 😂
Absolutely this. I've heard so many versions of this piece and I keep coming back to this. What a stunning interpretation that wrenches the heart. ❤
@@Sara-tr2gh In Korea, most musical prodigies are found and raised by government-sponcerd program or by famous instructors at a very young age so if a kid is really good the parents don't need to spend a fortune.
Absolutely, it is indeed a remarkable performance. I've also recently discovered a lesser-known recording by a Polish violinist who also interprets this piece exceptionally well. Perlman's is better imo
No doubt
This piece perfectly represents the Hungarian soul, how through the ages we had so many sad moments in our history, but the people always tried to bursh off sadness and depression by jokes and joyful dance. The fast dancing song (czardas) is prefect choice and ending after the very slow sad theme.
I realize that
If it represents Hungarian soul, why is it called "Gypsy Airs", and not "Hungarian Airs"?
@@tanyaamosava241 "Like his contemporaries, Sarasate misidentified Hungarian folk music with the "gypsy music" of the Romani people, and the themes in the piece are not of Romani origin, but were all actually adapted from Hungarian music pieces." That's what Wikipedia says.
@@jujube9871 Well said.
@@tanyaamosava241 As it is on wiki, which was corrected because of me, when I found an article about the story of this piece, Sarasate was visiting Hungary, and usually foreigners know nothing about Gypsies, so they think if they play a song, then it is probably theirs (Sarasate also heard these melodies played by gypsy musician). Well in fact, many gypsies started to work as musician in 19th century (or even earlier), but because they were mostly playing (working) for Hungarian audience, obviously Hunagrians wanted to listen to their own traditional folk songs, in this way the Hungarian Gypsies had to learn and play these songs, otherwise how they would have made money in the bars and restaurants they were playing?
So Sarasate went home thinking it was probably Gypsy music, however there can be an other reason of it, in that time the composers liked to use the name Gypsy, because then it sounded more exotic, it is clear in the case of Ravel: Tzigane, tzigane (or as we say cigány) is an other word for Gypsy, and this piece has nothing to do with the Gypsies either. From Wikipedia: ,,The name of the piece is derived from the generic European term for "gypsy" (in French: gitan, tsigane or tzigane rather than the Hungarian cigány) although it does not use any authentic Gypsy melodies."

two different personalities in one body.
Its scary you arghhh
Not to be too critical, but she might appear more shy and nervous because:
1. English isn’t her first language.
2. In Korean culture, you are supposed to act humble and reserved the younger you are, especially at 12. If you act too confidently, the public will think you are arrogant at such young age. The expectation is to be a bit shy and cute.

And at 16, she is even better, if that's possible.
It seems as if she was born to play a violin owing to " a real flair " that might be inherited from her parents!? I think she really nailed the tempo of the last part, most of the other performances of other violinists or her others ones too, have a bit different tempo. When they play it faster, it starts to lose the feeling of the dance Czardas, as this part comes from that. for example 8:10 is a very typical part of it.

I agree that Sarah Chang was more precocious technically than Chloe, but Himari is more precocious technically even than Sarah.

As a violinist, currently around the same age as Sohyun was when she performed this (thinking similarly to Sohyun), who is currently preparing to perform this piece, and as a pianist who has accompanied my siblings multiple times in the past, I understand the level of difficulty of this piece, but also how hard it is to accompany another person during a musical performance. Congrats and great job to both of them!
The pianist was on point as well! Lets not forget about her!
Lol, i don't understand how she could stay in time with the violinist, that's really impressive
The piano sheet is much easier for this piece than the violin sheet, so it is only logical and even fair that the violin gets far more recognision as the violin sheet is more difficult by a gigantic margin. With that being said, yes the pianist does a great work and deserves praise. Both were fantastic.
@@jameswalker6864 yes, the piano is just accompaniment
Its not the fact we forgot, but we truly don't need to care. Yes, the pianist was good, but of course she was. She is an adult with far more years of practice and even an easier sheet to play. The violinist, however, is quite young with not so many years of experience. That is why the pianist doesn't get as much recognition. It wasn't about the pianists show but the violinists. If the pianist had their own show instead, then indeed they would get more recognition.
Jaiden Morse The point of me mentioning the Pianist was because no ones giving her props! Obviously the videos about the young girl! No ones arguing her skill and performance! Elisa Khud,
In reading these comments it seems most of these viewers have very little exposure to live classical music experiences/performances (probably even on UA-cam).
I've been enjoying classical music on UA-cam for years. My mother was a professional performer with harp and voice and toured Europe in the 1950's with the professional All-America Chorus as a featured soloist (including a performance for the Queen of England).
She was an honors graduate in choral conducting and piano at Northwestern University.
Her daughter/my sister won a full tuition scholarship to the Eastman school of Music, was the harp faculty at the University of Denver, first call union harpist and played with the Denver Symphony. Her husband earned his master's and doctorate degrees on cello at Northwestern University and recently retired after 34yrs from the Denver Symphony and 25yrs with the Central City Opera Orchestra.
I sang in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus for 20+yrs including three different sold-out performances in Carnegie Hall.
We were invited to augment the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performing on two different (14,000 attendees in the amphitheater and on the 36 acre grounds) occasions for the season opener at Ravinia (the summer home of the Chicago Symphony) (look it up).
I had a successful clarinet/saxophone studio for forty years.
My point being, I've never run across this level of reaction/commentary to a standard classical music situation before. This is not something rare or uncommon to expect in the musical world of performance. There's no dispute that she is a gifted accomplished musician accompanist, but, as with soloists, there are fortunately many inspirational/moving performances to be experienced and savored.
I'm just surprised that so many people haven't apparently heard this level of "tear" producing artistry.
I hope you are lucky enough to hear/experience many more.
Thanks for letting me "spout" off.

Such depth and resonance from a 300-year old instrument and a 12-year old girl. Saw in a video that it's a Matteo Goffriller piece and was sponsored for her to play. She's also mentored by Pinchas Zukerman. Amazing girl.
I am not a violinist, nor do I know a great deal about classical at a technical level, but I love this piece and have heard many professional violinists’ renditions of it. This is the only version that makes me weep uncontrollably no matter what mood I am in. She evokes so much emotion in these 9 minutes, it’s truly overwhelming. Absolutely amazing.
@@tako3038 oh shush you annoying obsequious organ grinder. It’s obvious you don’t know violin and no one agrees with you. Your jealousy is so plain here.

That part at 3:35 where she is smiling a little afterwards "damn im good!" :D. What a girl!

I don't have any idea about the technical aspects of playing violin. But listening to this piece feels like watching a movie with a great plot and a happy ending. I'll always come back here to listen/watch the movie.
And suddenly an Asian dad from nowhere:
Nice, now play it backwards.
and she will do it perfectly
actually musicians really do.... so crazy

Amicia Rosé Nah. Asian dads would be working their butts of to pay the $600 hourly lessons.
If u can play it forward, u can play it backwards
Her: Memorizes an entire piece.
Me: Can't even remember my own license plate number.
well, all instrument player can do that, when you are performing, you rely a lot on muscle memory.
Me: can’t remember how many letters are in my name without writing it out
i mean if you memorize ur license plate the amount of times she practiced this piece, you’d probably be able to memorize ur license plate haha
There is something called muscle memory
Wow, so many people who can't take a joke.
How fitting that this performance was hosted by the Heifetz institute, the sheer virtuosity of this young lady is jaw dropping..of Heifetz caliber indeed. Bravo, gorgeous & harrowing interpretation, absolutely beautiful throughout !
She plays with an old soul, amazing
Interviewer : How old are you?
The girl : I am 12 !
Interviewer : How many years of experience you have in playing violin?
The girl : 20 years.
Interviewer : HOW?
The girl : I practice 50 HOURS a day.

She looks like this is all so easy for her and also, I can tell she is really good.
I love her playing, she puts a different colour on this piece, played with real chutzpah
I feel like crying and I don't even know how to play a violin.
Hello Gabriel, it's me Gabriella..
I know how...and believe me, many times we play, we truly cry with tears!!! Just so much emotions collide inside, its unbearable...has to come out...
I played this when I was 17, and was part of my Diploma concert piece as well...but one thing what nobody else can say, but me, that my ancestor wrote the first part, what Sarasate based upon, is actually ...Lavotta János's c moll Adagio... and i had the privilege to learn it from a gypsy violinist, as per the title of this piece says!
Lavotta lived in 1800 in Habsburg-Hungarian Empire...the piece can be found on UA-cam as well!
Why?????
Tracy Zhao bc she is playing with emotions. so cool for that young age
