    Is it easier to explore Calabria than Sicily? How's the weather in December

    • @ikmarchini
      @ikmarchini 3 місяці тому

      Sicily is a bit more compact but the sites Giulia mentions are all in the 'toe' and not far apart. But, you must have a car while in Sicily there are more trains. Nov-Jan is the rainy season with about 8-9 rainy days per month, staying around 50F near the coast. See Wiki. Unfortunately, Sicily has been 'discoverd' by American tourists so summer is getting crazy. Not a problem in Calabria.

    Very rare to find Calabria mentioned in any travel destination guides. Even travel guides in Italy, (the Amalfi Coast is as far south as they go) as if Calabria is not worth mentioning as a part of Italy. It is always missed out yet there are beautiful places there to see. Also, some of the world's famous people have originated from Calabria. There's plenty to be proud of and needless to say it is my family's heritage. Great work in showing what it has to offer.

      Hey Dave, thanks for your question! In December, you could definitely visit Reggio and the borghi, plus do some outdoor activities on the Sila (you could ski as well). However, it would be too cold to bathe in this region's wonderful seaside 🏖️ let us know what you decide!

      Hi, that is very complicated to say at the moment as rules change everyday.
      I know that the European Union is discussing whether applying a vaccinal passport for all EU citizens to travel inside the EU but nothing has been said yet about extra-European citizens.
      I would encourage you to follow the situation through an official entity like the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Italy or the Embassy of Italy in Sri Lanka.
      I hope this helps!

There are 2 trains lines on the Tirreno side and one from the Ionio side, plus from Paola you can cross Calabria to reach Soverato! and we have the Freccia Rossa that you reach Rome in 3 hours and 30 minutes. Without mentioning the busses are everywhere! Remake the video with more accurate information, please!

    • @ItalybyItalians
      @ItalybyItalians  3 роки тому +2

      Hi, thank you for your question. The local mafia in Calabria is called 'Ndrangheta and yes, it is a problem for locals due to corruption in the local government, but it does not affect tourists at all so visitors shouldn't be scared of visiting Calabria.
      If you are thinking about visiting Calabria don't let this prejudice stop you!

    • @andfand92
      @andfand92 3 роки тому

      @briantravelman, there exists no gangs in Calabria in terms of dangerous street gangs like the ones you see in movies about Mexico and Latin America, so I would say that Calabria is just as safe as any other region in Italy. The Ndrangheta unfortunately is a problem on way bigger scales than local street thugs.
