I visited Eileann Donnan twice. Once in the 1980s when I went inside. And 1995 when I didn't go in, but approached it from the sea / loch side. (Loch Duich or Duilch ?) I had a B1 Bombard inflatable with a 5 HP Honda outboard at the time. I parked my car where the north road goes near a beach. I launched the boat from the stony beach and motored the length of the sea loch as far as the castle. That's where the sea swell started. I took some pictures then turned the boat round and got the hell out. It's amazing how strong the swell is and Duich is a sea loch, ie open to the sea. A 5 HP engine is a bit underpowered for sea swell tbh. It was fun at the time. But I won't be doing it again !

Me and my friend went to Scotland and Skye in 2009. In May. It was magic. We went all around the island and stayed at B&Bs for the whole trip. People were just awesome, not so very touristy at that time so we at times felt we had the island all to ourselves. The history of Skye, the landscape, the sea, the castles, the people, everything really is something that will stay with me forever.
That’s fantastic and yes back then it would have been so much quieter. It is such a beautiful place, it really is but I think it would be far too busy (to us personally) in the summer months.. Thanks so much for watching..😁
Seeing fast video of Sarah setting bed into day lounge 🤭 ...pillows and dunas flying , filling ,repositioning and Dizzie and Charlie manouvring around the action ...when finished all in place I expected Charlie or Dizzie to poke their heads out from underneath or behind pillows...shake off and smile and say "Job well done ....let's go " 🐾🐾🐾🐾🥰 enjoyed immensely 🤗
Haha, yes, would be easy to accidentally stow away a little doggie when making the bed, especially as they don’t really want to move off the bed when cold! 😂😂
I used to live in Skye and I’ve seen horrendous winds and never known the bridge to be closed completely. They occasionally ban “high sided” vehicles from crossing but strangely the city link coach wasn’t considered “high sided”.
Ok.. Was told by some people they can close the bridge in really bad weather and ferry was closed so we did worry a little😅.. Thanks so much for watching..
We are currently in our motorhome on the west coast of Cornwall and the wind has been horrendous! And as newbies to van life I was pretty terrified at 40mph winds battering us! Stay safe! x
Opening scene. Bloody brilliant. Your best yet in my humble opinion. Lovely paced. Lovely music. If I hadn’t already been subscribed for yrs I’d subscribe. Xx

@@theexPAWers yes really…stress certainly ages me, when stressed: I drink less so dehydrated I eat less so malnourished and sleep less so look ancient but going to Scotland relieves those stresses. The temperature is generally low so clean environment and it’s washed often with the regular rain falls but it doesn’t rain forever it stops so you can enjoy bits before the next rain fall.. and sun can also age the skin…thanks for showing me the bits of Skye I didn’t see, drone footage was amazing 🤩
The drone footage is amazing. It’s so unreal scenery! Shame about the weather and you had to leave. You do makes us smile though! You’re definitely our favourite UA-camrs ❤️❤️

This is very true! We should be free to go where we want, when we want/can and if people don’t like crowds then they should go somewhere more remote! Personally we don’t really like crowds as you may have noticed..😂 hence Skye was a little too much but still an amazing place to visit☺️.. Thanks so much for watching.. Xx

Fully agree about Skye, too busy and now spoilt. My favourite part of Scotland is Glen Affric, simply stunning and not yet spoilt, without any hesitation!
Hi Guys, I was in Skye a few weeks ago and couldn't get over how many tourists are still there. Our hotel told us they are booked up until November 2025! My Father was born in Portree and I remember how different it was when I used to travel there as a child in the holidays. I loved the drone shots as I too visited most of the places in your video and it brought back happy memories. It was a shame you had to cut short your visit due to the bad weather.
Thanks, yeah I really can’t imagine how crazy it must be in the summer now.. Good to anyone in the tourist industry there but not so good for the locals who are not I guess 😅

Great vlog as always. If you only go to 1 other Scottish Island I would highly recommend Arran. A lot quieter than Skye but as stunning and so van friendly. Lots of great parkups and the people are so welcoming. Enjoy your travels😀
Just wanted to say Thank you for all the videos of Scotland that you are doing. I’ve always wanted to visit but unfortunately it isn’t possible from the U.S.A. on my income. Some of my family have gone and absolutely loved it. Again, Thank you and enjoy your travels.
You've braved one if our worst named storms this year. It hit the whole uk. I always get a bit frustrated when people flock to Skye it's my least favorite island except for hiking in the Cullins... that's by far the best part... crazy black mountains that feel like another world. Thats a hikers paradise. Other islands are far wilder with incredible white sand and west coast sunsets. It's a shame you couldn't go farther west or north. Explore less of the usual busy places.
Beautiful ❤. Makes me homesick for Scotland. I did all that area late 80s and been thinking alot about going back with my husband of 26 years, we live in North West England now. We will one day, but first Thailand for my 60th.
Hi again guys, apologies to Sarah for keeping Nick talking for so long😂 while she was busy working 🛌💻😊, great video 📹 👍, Roger Anne Charlie Bailey and Jess
Stunning drone work and filming. Beautiful . We were in Wales staying at a camp site in Pembrokeshire. Celtic campsite . On the edge of a cliff . Not quite literally but pretty much . There was a storm in the night and the van was a rocking. Our little sun window was torn open by the wind . Crazy . I love you two and your adorable little dogs. Keep up the stirling work. You are so easy to watch . Never want your videos to end . Take care . Cup of coffee anyone ? 😄☕
awwwww, Thankyou so much for the lovely kind words and so sorry to hear you van got damaged 😢.. Something bad happened to our van too in the storm, you’ll see in next weeks vlog😢😢xx
I live on the West coast of Scotland (not Skye) and October is the start of the storms that roll in, I would say spring (before the schools and the midgies are out) is the best time to visit. Skye is beautiful and I was lucky to visit a number of times before the tourism became insane. I will not be back to Skye, went last year in September and it was far too busy to enjoy. Fairy Pools are totally overrated, just some pools and a stream - made famours by a photographer using filters! Try the Isle of Mull (my favourite) or Isle of Arran (Scotland in miniature.)
The video and music at the start is beautiful. The scenery is amazing We are in Sunderland at the moment and have found so many beautiful places the beaches are gorgeous when the weather got very windy we hate it too, when the van is blowing about,it is scary we moved to a small dead end side road. That was better. .the Highland cows are so lovely
We had a very wet trip to Sky on Motorcycles, it was not good, and I know what you mean about Croatia, theres a notorious area on the coast where the wind is leathal, we crossed it on motorcycles. it was the most scary thing I have ever done, we eventually found a place to haul up for the night. I really felt for you both & the doggies. An awesome.video by the way. Drive safe.
We were on Skye in May in our camper. Wonderful place. We were lucky with the weather and hopped over to Lewis. We use campsites and booked in advance for most. They were all booked up on Skye so little chance for spontaneous visits anymore. Best wishes.
Glad you stopped at Eilean Donan castle, my recommendation. Exactly where I parked my van and walked along to the under pass and along the shore to the castle. Only difference was it was dry and sunny, when I visited. I stayed the night, high above on a mountain road, over looking Loch Duich. Amazing views and experience. Enjoy watching your Scotland tour👍
Each time I go back to your videos of beautiful Scotland I think of the hilarious commercial about Wine Gums "There's a loose Moose Around the Hoose." You are showcasing the stunning scenery that this incredible Celtic country has on offer to potential visitors, me included. Hugs and hope the weather settles for you both. PS Have you seen the two American content creators from Florida like yourselves, who are doing the world for the past 5 years. They are Snow and Curt and their two cats travelling around Ireland for the past month.
Lovely Skye weather. We experienced similar a couple of years back, over 100Mph winds at Neist Point one night, dog woke us in the nick of time as the van was rocking and getting pushed sideways with every gust (some doing to a 4 ton van!). Like you did, the trick is to get inland away from the coast. Skye has changed so much over the years and as you highlighted, a lot more tourists all through the year rather than just a season. Used to be you could go in September and October when the schools were back and it was pretty quiet, you’d get a campsite for a reasonable out of season price, now, as you said, sites very full, locals not happy with all the constant vans. Well done with the Coo shots and telling the uneducated off for touching them. It’s not a petting zoo! Mull is lovely but you will find it very difficult to get free park ups. There are a couple of places but some great campsites too.
Thanks for the message. Yeah it’s a shame, must have been lovely when it was a lot quieter. Not surprised the locals can get fed up of it all.. Mass tourism in a small place like Skye ends up having not so good consequences unfortunately.. still a great place to visit but I wouldn’t go there in Summer, must be mad!! X
@ yes, it’s crazy busy now. We just avoid it and really only go back over winter or autumn when we think it’s going to be quieter. The cold weather and festive period keeps a lot of people away but can be hard finding a campsite that’s still open and let’s not talk about ice on the roads. Lovely to see you both touring Scotland. Hope you enjoy it. When you’ve finished with the west coast you should try along the Moray coast and right round the cairngorms, snow roads, east coast. Feel free to reach out for suggestions for some places to try. Findhorn community Motorhome aire is one, Cullen Aire another. Wee walk to bow fiddle rock for sunrise or sunset. It’s a lovely quiet cove first thing in the morning
Hi Nik and Sarah. I’m finally off to that country manor I. Wales on Sunday. Harvey has been great and can’t wait to enjoy the week in Wales with my daughter. Thanks again for the inspiration. Lots of love to you both xx Andy.
@@theexPAWersplease don't get annoyed. It's only that when you live and explore hear it's so disheartening to have so many vans and campers saying it's so busy. For us who live here we avoid these areas and are thankful for nc500 and Skye That kinda keep tourists away from the wild and empty places. It's so hard to recommend places to people as it will soon become a no go for us who live here. Not all UA-camrs are as respectful and lovely as you both 🙏🏻
It is very touristy in sky as many places in Scotland but there's so many other hidden places in Scotland that are off the so called main tourist route that are absolutely amazing. A Scotsman. I hope you're enjoying your time in Scotland.
Love the video and truly appreciate you going out in that misérable weather in order for us to see the Ile of Skye. Beautiful scenery. We can just imagine in beautiful weather. Love the doggies, they are just adorable our Moustique says woof. Happy trails and better weather. Regards from Québec Canada. ❤️🐾🐾

Mull is the BEST! 🎉 Neist Point is great on Skye and yeah, I agree it isn't the most inviting of places for vanlife ❤ I loved my hike around the Quirang. Great shots✨️🙏🏼
Wonderful drone footage. Our family lived in Scotland for 16 years. We only got to Skye in the last month of living there! It wasn’t busy back then. Enjoying your vlogs!
Yay guys! I told you not to miss Eilean Donan Castle. I wouldn‘t suggest just anywhere to you! Only the very best for the wonderful expawers. What utterly phenomenal footage you filmed ❤ It mustn‘t have been lit up when you saw it from the bridge, because it looks like pure gold and not crappy at all then. We just left Bamburgh and Berwick and have already had our marmite crumpets in your honour. ❤❤ 🐕🐕
Such a shame you had to leave early. The same happened to me 2 years ago, it was super hairy driving along the coast roads in the strong winds. I also found the same with the van parking, and agree with much of what you said about Skye. Though I would potentially go back another time to see the rest of the island in better conditions.
Storm Ashley was a bit …. wtf in the south 😳 and we were 670miles from you!, and the centre of chaos! Glad you’re safe… vans wobble. Motorhomes wobble more …. Scary pooh! Thanks for taking us all with you(and risking the drone ) x Erm, the worlds changed so much… Skye is ( or was) beautiful, but so many souls are trying to escape drudgery, and look for escape …., our tiny wee island/s and the Truely beautiful places, get overwhelmed 🤷♀️in the hunt for big skies, space, beauty…. And space ! ( and I stood on the exact same spot you filmed the castle…. And there wasn’t a single person there! )
Thanks.. Yeah the wind is scary and next week in our video we share something really scary that happened 😮.. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words ❤

That was better. .the Highland cows are so lovely
Do you mean Sutherland ?
I know you had bad weather, but you both look so comfy in your bigger van❤❤❤❤
We had a very wet trip to Sky on Motorcycles, it was not good, and I know what you mean about Croatia, theres a notorious area on the coast where the wind is leathal, we crossed it on motorcycles. it was the most scary thing I have ever done, we eventually found a place to haul up for the night.
I really felt for you both & the doggies. An awesome.video by the way.
Drive safe.
Thanks so much. Yea wind is definitely the worst element. Croatia was really bad, Lorrie’s overturned, we were there in 2018.
Great video .We were in Skye but came from there Friday Like you said 60 miles plus winds and horizontal rain was scary .
Yes it was.. It’s no joke and we actually had something bad happen to us in the next video because of the storm! 😅
We were on Skye in May in our camper. Wonderful place. We were lucky with the weather and hopped over to Lewis. We use campsites and booked in advance for most. They were all booked up on Skye so little chance for spontaneous visits anymore. Best wishes.
Exactly! It’s so popular there and can’t imagine visiting in the summer months! Thanks so much for watching..😁
Beautiful scenery, the cliffs are very like the cliffs of moher in 'Co Clare Ireland.
Lovely to see you guys and being shown the stunning views of Scotland!😊
Thanks, blooming lovely up here! 😊
hope you are ok in uk and your town in Andalucia is not flooded
Thanks.. Our town is on a big hill/mountain side so no flooding thankfully, seen on the news how bad it is in some places 😢
❤❤❤❤❤Stay safe love your content as always.
Loved your video. Wonderful shots, despite the rain. Sorry about the high winds. Loved the red doggy raincoat.
Thanks Peter ❤😊
Glad you stopped at Eilean Donan castle, my recommendation. Exactly where I parked my van and walked along to the under pass and along the shore to the castle. Only difference was it was dry and sunny, when I visited. I stayed the night, high above on a mountain road, over looking Loch Duich. Amazing views and experience. Enjoy watching your Scotland tour👍
Stunning scenery and the drone shots are amazing. My little dog would be shaking it all the wind and rain 😢. Hope the weather improves xxx
Thanks so much for watching..😁 No we haven’t seen their channel but will check them out 😊❤
I've always hear it as " There's a moose loose aboot this hoose".
I'm getting repetitive... it is just breathtaking scenery. I'm going to read more about the castle. Enjoyed the tour. Thx.
I just heard about the floods. I hope your home and neighbours are safe.
Such a beautiful piece film and and music at the beginning.
Loved all the scenery weather was awful but you still enjoy yourselves and still got about with the dogs. looking forward to the next vlog.x🐕🐕🚍
Stunning photograph, shame about the crowds. I imagine all the charges are needed for upkeep on the castle. It can’t be cheap.
I'm so glad to have recently discovered your channel. Fantastic
awwwww, Thankyou and welcome ☺️☺️xx
Hi Nik and Sarah. I’m finally off to that country manor I. Wales on Sunday. Harvey has been great and can’t wait to enjoy the week in Wales with my daughter. Thanks again for the inspiration. Lots of love to you both xx Andy.
The highland cooos was my best. Loved their long horns.
I just love when UA-camrs say that tourists are ruining the places they visit -whether they are in a van or on a boat ! 😂
Did we say that?? Ruining the places?? I think I said; for me personally there’s too many people on Skye, that’s it.. But thanks for watching😉
UA-camrs and van lifers are tourists too 😂 and they are part of the numbers that clog up the Highlands.
That wind looked horrific so pleased you moved. Great video x x
Keep that intro for all your videos, it’s stunning
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
Love the video and truly appreciate you going out in that misérable weather in order for us to see the Ile of Skye. Beautiful scenery. We can just imagine in beautiful weather. Love the doggies, they are just adorable our Moustique says woof. Happy trails and better weather. Regards from Québec Canada. ❤️🐾🐾
Our pleasure! In the sun it would even more stunning. 😂
Scarey winds! I did think of you guys when the storm was forecast for the west coast of Scotland. I said to my partner ‘Sarah and Nick are up there in the van……’, as he doesn’t watch, he had no idea who I was talking about 😂……. Take care and enjoy the scenery. x
Glad you’re all safe xx
Thankyou so much ❤️ x
Mull is the BEST! 🎉
Neist Point is great on Skye and yeah, I agree it isn't the most inviting of places for vanlife ❤ I loved my hike around the Quirang. Great shots✨️🙏🏼
That was absolutely stunning, thank you for sharing.
Thankyou so much ❤️ x
Stunning landscapes and scenery, and fantastic videography. Very well done
What utterly phenomenal footage you filmed ❤
It mustn‘t have been lit up when you saw it from the bridge, because it looks like pure gold and not crappy at all then.
We just left Bamburgh and Berwick and have already had our marmite crumpets in your honour. ❤❤ 🐕🐕
You guy's have the best🎉🎉🎉channel and footage and adventures🤗
Your choice of music lent to the majestic scenery. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Scary pooh! Thanks for taking us all with you(and risking the drone ) x
Erm, the worlds changed so much… Skye is ( or was) beautiful, but so many souls are trying to escape drudgery, and look for escape …., our tiny wee island/s and the Truely beautiful places, get overwhelmed 🤷♀️in the hunt for big skies, space, beauty…. And space ! ( and I stood on the exact same spot you filmed the castle…. And there wasn’t a single person there! )
Thanks.. Yeah the wind is scary and next week in our video we share something really scary that happened 😮.. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words ❤
@@theexPAWers 😂 I look forward to it! I travel vicariously with you ! ( and at least I know you can still type…. So your safe and survived whatever horror awaits 😂🤣😂) …
