Spot on with a Narrower Stance (moving front foot back). I tried this recently and instantly could Pump further, higher, with less fatigue. I switch back to a wider stance when riding waves.
Very well explained. Now I know I've been muscling through instead of letting the foil work for me. Can't wait to get out on the water and apply your pointers.
That Tips did it! Thank you very much! Now is totaly clear how you synchronize your wing and your pumping with your board. Tested it yesterday on the western baltic in germany and with your tips everything was much easier! Thank you! Tips on how to handle seaweed would be interesting…
Salut Gwenn.
Great video - helped me get going. Now I am into stopping. I had a close incident the other day while pumping. So maybe you could share how you would stop save and quickly while on foil.
Thanks Guys. A few friends and I are trying to learn dockstarting. After watching this video, I see that our pumping technique is the main skill that is holding us back. Thanks again for pointing out what we need focus on now.
Thanks for another great video. Been working on the glide phase of my pump a lot lately. Any good tips on pumping up wind, in chop/swell? I find all my form goes to crap and I just pump like crazy.
Pumping up wind and in chop is significantly harder for sure! The more you can refined your technique on flat water with no wind, the better you will be able to perform in wind and chop, but it will never be easy haha! :)
@@danielhammack6511 I recently went from the axis 1150 to sab leviathon 1350. Amazed at how much better I am able to pump up wind, in currents, and swell. Lots of condtions where I wouldn't even try before. now with the 1350 I can get get out. Has opened up so many more opportunites.
Great video! Can the next one be on tips to take off with a DW board and paddle on flat water , like you showed it at the end of the light wind video ? Lots of weed here in Montreal where I have Access to docks, I need another option to practice foil pumping!
Thank you for sharing your hard learned tips, you're spreading the joy. Do you shim the 1350 at the base plate to flatten the board out? My nose is always pointing down on my 1350
That's the foil we use in this video, also a great one to start pumping on the lake: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/sabfoil-1350-leviathan-kit-for-pumping-and-light-wind-winging?_pos=1&_psq=1350&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Hey guys, is it easier to pump a longer DW board or a shorter/wider board of the same volume? I’m not particularly concerned about getting onto foil b/c I use a wing, just curious about how swing weight modulates pumping effort once on foil. Thx!
More volume and more weight makes pumping more challenging for sure. But the downwind boards are interesting because the foil position is so far forward that the volume behind the foil acts as counter weight, it somehow feels pretty balanced and makes the swing weight in the front kind of disappear when pumping and turning. So a 120L downwind board feels easier to pump than a 120L short and wide wing board, also because the shorter wing boards often have a foil position much more back. Hope this helps!
A little more on the back leg most of the time, but you can move your feet around to be more on both or centered. It would be incredible to go switch but it is a lot harder, its like walking backwards, just is not that easy to pick up. Would for sure take some training.
Great tips! Are you guys going to be selling that Lift hat Damien is wearing on your website? I know it's a Lift hat but it's not on their website either. Thanks!

Cheers Guys. Nice vid as always. For us game changer was narrow stance, almost like squating (burning legs 40/60). Higher on the mast and a foil which stalls at a slower speed will help for upwind!

Thank you! We don't shim the 1350. We use it with the SabFoil B08 board, so maybe it's because of the way your board is design?

Do longer limbs/legs helps in generating more speed?
I don’t think it makes a significant difference, just like surfing, or windsurfing
@@DamienLeroyUA-cam big powerful pumps generate speed right?
@@DamienLeroyUA-cam Actually, taller people is an advantage on windsurfing
