OMG! You knew about "Fish Heads!" I'm 51 years old and that clip brought back warm, fuzzy nostalgia. I knew Bill Paxton directed "Fish Heads" but it is supremely cool that you two knew that! Also, I love this film. I didn't see it in the cinema, unfortunately, but saw this on VHS shortly after it was released, and loved it. So few people know about ghis rare gem. Thank you for reviewing this film. ❤
Frailty came to amazon prime and I re-watched it and couldn't help but constantly think "man, bill Paxton was such a great damn actor" and immediately getting really sad knowing we lost a great one. I also recently did the same with Alpha Dog with anton yelchin and just getting emotionally crushed knowing we've lost some damn great actors.
Love this movie. Me, my bro and some friends saw this in theaters over 20 years ago. We saw it on a whim, we only saw a few trailers on TV, noticed Paxton was starring and directing and we took a shot. Best movie decision we ever made. We were FLOORED by the time it ended. Insane!
Yet another fine review guys. Frailty is one of the most intelligent thrillers made in many a moon. (and as a fellow Texan it's almost nice to see my dudes do well lol) It's a real shame that not only did we lose Paxton but we never saw him behind the camera again. He had genuine talent there as well.
My go to suggestion for unknown/underated horror, havent had a person say they didnt like it. Plus it has the legend that is Bill Paxton starring and directing may he rest in peace 🙏 one of my faves!
I saw a 'making of' sopt, in a night club, in Central Manchester. Of all places. The moment I heard Bill Paxton directing, I knew I had to check it out. And boy oh boy was I right. Such a good film
Disney's "Mighty Joe Young" remake introduced me to Bill Paxton as a kid. Same goes for Jeremy Sumpter with 2003's "Peter Pan," probably the best adaptation IMO.
Oh man this one was such a crazy experience for me. The first time I saw it I was pretty annoyed with it up until the end, then my mind exploded and I fell in love! I had been under the pretense the movie was unpredictable and was pretty much immediately irritated because, for the most part, the movie plays like your typical drama. Then the revelation hits and the whole film's perspective shifts. I loved that so much I had to rewatch it immediately. Great movie, and great review guys. RIP Bill Paxton
Hey guys! I love this movie such a great twist and Bill Paxton is always great I loved him in The Vagrant. No one talks about this one great choice! ❤️
Short cutback flashbacks are associated with short-term or near term memory, things that happened in the last few hours or days and are still fresh in the memory. Longer, dreamy fadeout flashbacks are distant and usually less reliable memories.
Great movie and definitely stil a hidden gem.. I even remember back in the days I saw it coming out but somehow I didn't pay attention to it.. And I remember that I heard it's a good movie but somehow I still didn't gave it a shot. I was shopping in a second hand store that also sells dvd movies and blurays saw it immediately bought it watched it and I loved it immediately.. Somehow dvd is old and mostly the image quality isn't good but with full screen ratio movies the quality looks like bluray and this movie will remain in my collection.. Very unique movie
I watched this movie as a kid. Couldn't remember the name, but it stuck with me. Finally got to see it again over the summer, but no reviews out. Glad yall did!
Yeah that was the one ambiguous thing to me; did Fenton really become a serial killer in his own right and was he really a demon, or did Adam plant bodies in his basement?
@@violinmerchant Well... yeah. I can't think of anything else that wasn't straightforward. There shouldn't be any question about whether the visions are real. You just have to accept it for the movie.
I literally watched this movie for the first time this morning. I liked it...very different, however, I was confused by the ending. Looking forward to seeing your guys' take on it. 😁😁😁
The way i found out about this movie is that i used to make music when i was younger. I gave a track to some friends to rap over and they had written their verses based on this movie. It sounded really good so i checked out the movie and loved it.
Haha no freaking way. This is awesome. I have to ask if my suggestion of this from a week ago played a part in yall doing this or is it an amazing coincidence and it was already planned. Either way I can't wait to go home and watch. Cheers fellas
One of my top 50 films of all time. Really puts you wwyd situation, believing in something greater and such. Bill paxton did a great good job directing this.
Oh, nice, I had forgot about this one! And had no idea Paxton directed it! Boothe is just awesome! Sadly those 2 greats are no longer with us. But Maconnannnannoohew or how it is spelled keeps getting better and better!
This is a good movie, the performances sell the concept of the film, and have a great aproach to the film narration and how the history unveils, however indeed is a shame it was not promoted enough and there is not much talks about it today. About Paxton he made important accomplishments in cinema, he was in some of the most memorable films, and some trivial but cool stuff like been against terminator, alien and predator, i think he still had more to give as an artist but he Is part of cinema history anyway
Incredible movie and interesting commentary on fervent religious belief vs. reason. Very little violence to tell a violent tale is a tricky thing to pull off. Powers Boothe (perfect voice for a devil/villain) and Bill Paxton, RIP.
Bill Paxton directed the fish head song WTF 😆?!?!? I have had that song stuck in my head since childhood and I had no idea where it even came from 😆😆😆😆 . . . and now I know it really existed 🤣?!?!! And Bill Paxton directed the video 😱?!?! I guess you learn something new everyday!!!!
The whole clue of the movie is that everything about the demons was real and yet you guys still discuss wether or not it was true or not 😂.. It is the whole clue of the movie buddies. Great episode 👍🏼👍🏼
Not gonna lie guys, this is unironically one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I absolutely love it. EDIT: I should clarify, possibly one of the best as well, but so baffling that, for me, it's impossible to tell whether the filmmakers were sincerely trying to make a disturbing mystery/thriller or an intentional parody of the genre. The film itself is almost a more compelling mystery than the one contained in its story. If you take the premise seriously, though, as a compelling moral thesis, you're doing it wrong. No sane person could look at Matthew McConaughey's character and conclude that he is in any way a heroic character who would be justified in real life.
Mmm, i was a bit surprised at the take that the visions were real, but i suppose you can see it as a very disturbing supernatural thriller. I always saw it as Paxton manipulating the boys from the start, even if the victims crimes were real (which is questionable) he could just have done proper research.
This exactly. It's like, what kind of God is this? All of these people who are "demons" have committed actual crimes. There are actual LAWS they have broken. It makes no sense that Bill Paxton gets this list and, instead of gathering evidence and presenting it to the police so that they can build a case and pursue a prosecution, the assumption is that God wants him to be the actual arbiter of justice and kill these people. Then it goes full bizarro-world off the rails by having Matthew McConaughey become an ACTUAL POLICE OFFICER. I don't know if the film is arguing that the actual law-enforcement apparatus of the country should be comprised of people who have been divinely selected by God to dole out punishment for people who violate MORAL law rather than allowing the wheels of justice to appropriately address criminal activity through a robust process of deliberation. It is utterly bizarre, even more so since 90% of the movie is spent casting shade on the very notion that there is a spiritual compulsion to these murders at all. That's why I kind of love this film, including the twist. It's a genuinely well made film that goes to incredible lengths to stimulate the critical faculties of the audience, which encourages them to be skeptical of Bill Paxton and identify with Fenton, then turns around and tells us that we were idiots for even trying. It has all the hallmarks a prank, and gives you that feeling like when you think someone is making fun of you but you just can't tell, so you sit and wait to see whether they're actually serious or not. The movie should be in a museum. I've never seen anything quite like it.
@@supoa9489 It also says let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Fundamentally the message being that it is beyond the scope of man to cast judgement, mankind being bequeathed with original sin, forgiven for that sin by accepting Jesus Christ as lord and savior, but not restored to his innocence from before the fall of man in the garden. I know this and I don't even practice.
Bill Paxton will NEVER, I repeat, NEVER be outdone! Such a legend!
GAME OVER MAN!
“ Frailty “ is a terrific movie, very underrated gem of the genre. Bill Paxton did a impressive job as director.
One of the most underrated plot points in the movie was Fenton trying to convince Adam into going to the rated R movie instead of meatballs

Agreed!
The world became a far darker place after Bill Paxton died. He was a brilliant actor and will always be one of my favorites.
