There are many reasons to have a fascination with law and legal proceedings even if you have no interest in personally being a part of the profession! It’s intellectually stimulating, it offers insight into the lives of people who violate the social contract, it basically gives us an additional and very important vantage point for examining our rights and responsibilities as members of a (mostly) civilized society.

Emily , Replay here. I live in SLC. Summit Cnty is Park City, mountains and lots of 2 lane roads from town to town. The 2 surrounding counties could include SLC, but most likely Morgan and Wasatch. Which only means more mountainous roads and conditions. Also, Utah will show up for jury duty because they were told to, the end. Law abiding and happy to serve the community.

While I appreciate advocating for your client, this defense attorney is in her feelings. Seems she is taking the response from the state personal as opposed to her have any true feelings regarding the conditions under which the defendant now finds herself and what she has been doing while incarcerated. Either way, based what has been presented up to this point, it would appear that perhaps she should have not poisoned her husband and she wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place.

I’m just an an ICU RN for 30 years. My dead bodies are mostly illness, accidents, and some homicides.
When I hear a defense lawyer like this I want to just SCREAM. It seems all about a “win” , not justice. This lawyer is just plain desperate and can say there’s “NO EVIDENCE “ 159 times, even when the Judge points out there’s circumstantial evidence. I’ve heard judges tell jurors that circumstantial evidence IS evidence and just as strong as direct evidence. From a lay perspective, prosecution can seem aggressive, but to me
Defense seems like they will practically lie, steal, cheat, twist & turn, distort and do almost ANYTHING to get a win. Then I see them on UA-cam giving themselves high fives when no one else thinks it was a win. I have no idea what type of lawyer you are. In just sharing my feelings and I know many others that agree.

You are correct in your frustrated feelings. I recommend watching Natalielawyerchick if you want a defense attorney perspective plus she's great (Emily is a former prosecutor fyi!) she really made me appreciate the need for even the worst criminals to have a really good lawyer in court. That said, I don't think a good lawyer is the same as a lawyer who will seemingly throw away all morals and say anything to get the win! Neither a prosecutor nor a defense attorney should be all in just for the sake of racking up another 'win'. Defendants deserve a passionate attorney in their corner, and the state needs to bring their A-game (and also know when to cut a deal or just let a case go!) but there was a defense recently who were sitting with their client (accused of murder) giggling and flipping off the courtroom and that was really despicable. And just recently, in the YSL trial the prosecutor there was outrageous in so many ways, even the last judge on that trial all but outright told her she's either incompetent or deliberately corrupt.
Sorry to babble like a nerd. Yeah I definitely recommend keep watching Emily and also Natalielawyerchick like I said if you want to add a defense attorney into the mix. I feel like both Natalie and Emily have that level headedness of wanting defendents to be given the best shot in court and the state to do their jobs correctly so when someone is put behind bars you have no doubt they deserve to be there.

Emily the life insurance policy that was through Eric's business the one that him and Cody write had on one another the policy that she changed the name on was not if her husband passed away it was if Cody wright were the one who passed away which I find very very sus so what I'm saying is the life insurance policy that she changed the name on was a policy on Cody Wright's life not The one for Eric

The charged Insurance policies were separate from the work policies and were taken out at the end of January 2022 without Eric's consent per the preliminary hearing. The earlier insurance policies were covered by the financial expert, there were numerous policies.

I am three weeks late but this is a very good one. Utah's laws are very strange to me. How can you even consider that an attempted murder a few weeks before the actual murder should not be admitted as part of premeditation.

There is something so upsetting to me about that sandwich story. I'm not sure why it gets to me so much. Maybe the act of making food for someone is supposed to be an act of kindness. To do that with poison is a whole other level of awful.

Hi Emily...I have been watching you since Depp vs Heard...I would love your opinion/thoughts on the Delphi Case. I don't know if I am the only person asking this, but you are my go to lawyer, and I need your advice on this case to bring some closure to it. It sounds like such an injustice has happened. I trust you and your values on the court system. Thank you for all you do ❤

kouri dissing Sky was stupid because Sky had set herself up to be the PISONSER defense attorney and actually was on TV regarding other clients charged with poisoning someone.. She shot her case in the foot at that point. Sky nolonger needed her as a client.

Except we are still in covid times, people are still dying or being materially impacted by it. We learned a lot of new skills that can easily and usefully be continued. Although I agree voire dire should clearly be in person for certain types of court cases.

Utah is really strict on video in court rooms, dew to personal privacy of witnesses and jers. Also privacy on any miners in the case.

    • @aliioana8586

You can’t have felony murder unless the murder is committed during the commission of another felony.
