I never took pictures I was just patient and knew my hair would grow but my hair grows slow so I had already knew it would be a process. My locs have grown in my two year journey. I have learned to just go with it. I like my length I just pray for fullness of my locs.
I took pics and I was uploading videos weekly on my channel, I was overdoing it, But I'm glad I captured the moments, I'm 3 years now I don't retiwst anymore I still have goals, but I'm just keeping my hair clean and protected!
This was a very helpful conversation and I appreciate everything you said. I started my locs from a tapered cut that I was growing out last year (2022) in April and from that short length, I could see the growth that was going on. But the people around me that I didn’t see on the daily were very helpful in helping me see it because they would be encouraging and telling me how much my hair had grown from the last time they saw me! It was always great to hear. I just had a coworker that works in a different department, tell me how watching the evolution of my hair is motivating her to start locs! That makes me feel so good!
2 but now that I'm over two years. I see a lot growth. In the beginning my hair was shoulder length. Now it's in the middle of my back. It's grew really fast.
Nope the shrinkage will still be present with braids I am 4 years & 5 months with braidlocs the process lasted at least two years towards the end of my 2nd year going into 3 is when the drop came like she said have to have patience actually I just focus on life work etc before I knew it my hair is locked I just shampooed every 2 weeks & moisturize they stood up on top of my head but I didn’t care because I knew in the end what I wanted
this made me feel better lol. i had my braidlocs for 1 yr & 3 months so far, & i keep looking at pics from a year ago & i swear they look the same length, just much thicker😩 i love the thickness, i just wish they’d be a little longer so i can do more styles
1 and I started my loc journey on Aug of 2022 and my locs were super short and they are ear length. I love ❤️ locs and try so hard not to have loc envy. My concern is thinning
I cant wait to hear ur next vid about styling. I've never put any protective extension styles to my locs and the only style ive ever done is two strand twists after a retwists. im 10 months in
This was so informative. Ty☺️👍🏾 This weekend will be my first month loced and I already have budding starting. Perhaps because my hair sheds so so much when loss. Either way I'm glad I'm on this journey. One less thing to overthink about. 1❤
I started with tightly instant locking my natural hair with the 3 pronged .05mm crochet hook and extended the length with Afro kinky 100% human hair tightly crocheted on to match the diameter of my instant locked loc’s. I did this because I didn’t want to have any shrinkage or any of the many possible complications that could possibly occur as loc’s naturally form and it has worked! I even changed from 1/4 inch diameter to 1/8 inch diameter x 300 count micro loc’s! I no longer interlock the new growth monthly but allow the new growth to lock naturally as I weekly oil and separate the lengths of each loc to keep them from marrying. The weight of each 35 inch loc and the use of the “RevAir” drys each loc smooth and taut in 15 minutes! My fast growing soft fuzzy new growth now locks on it’s own! I can actually see the growth of my loc’s every month! I keep my loc’s blunt cut to hip length and perfectly even. Any longer causes damage by stretching from sitting on them. For me my loc’s are amazing! ✨💫✨ THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION!💥
1... I take pictures every month to keep progress of my growth and to celebrate my life journey. I am officially 4 months. I started my journey from a set of mini braids. It has definitely been a cool journey I wish that I would have done it sooner ❤
I take pictures in general and only realized how much growth I have whenever I look back. So technically I took growth pics, but not the formal kind of my locs only.
Not me forgetting to take pictures, but like I do notice little things, like my first bud showing up. I don't even care about length rn, I just want to see it hit that next stage.
I think the best process of locks is the beginning and the ending and the funny parts in the worst parts I have had locks for six years when I first lock my hair and I tried a couple times to lock it but then something always made me cut them but this next process I'm 43 years old will be hopefully my last process and I'm doing my best to do what I didn't do before which is due less
I’m not big on caring about the length - for me and my super fine hair it’s all about the budding and the Loc getting thicker. Feels like it’s gonna take forever.
@@thedigitalloctician so I’m not even one year out yet. Almost though - coming up in June. I am just sooo impatient. When I first started this particular journey, I only washed periodically. Now it’s weekly and I’ve stopped wearing a shower cap when I shower in the morning. I just bundle up my hair and let it go from there. They are not as thin as before - but my hair is super fine. I think I also have a problem with comparison.
@@sandrabennett9243 they are getting a little thicker - but then when I get a retwist they shrink right down again. I have hair sticking all out of the Loc. Looks messy all the time but I am dealing with that. I need to post a new picture that’s more represents how they look - the pic on my profile is an old pic from when I had sisterlocks
Can you make a video about hair that grows away from the loc and what can be done about that beside more frequent retwist, that happens to me and i notices i have a few thats thinning at the roots because of that.
@@lynn3731 I did that to one of them yesterday to try it out but im hoping it doesnt make that part skinny as it locs and grows plus braids takes so much longer to loc, im just afraid of ending up with a bunch of different things going on... 🤦🏾♀️
2 years seems to be the magic mark. My locs are starting to get long and drop.
Pictures, patience and protection. THE THREE P’s WE NEED FOR THIS JOURNEY🗣️🗣️
I loved the journey. But i never saw an ugly stage. But i did have mad frizz

Shed hair expands and shrinks and tangles over time to form locs as you retwist the hair together
Right! People gotta chill!
Yes, I am so glad that I took pictures of my journey! Also, patience is so key

That is so beautiful! And shoutout to your tribe reminding you of your growth 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Love to hear how you’ve inspired others! Keep growing!
I started my locs March 2017, I noticed length in Oct 2017.
I’ve taken tons of pictures in my journey thus far! I’m 10 months in and I remain excited every day!
I’m 8 months loving my journey
Yes im obessed with pics and vids of my locs lol got its own album
❤ayyyeeeee
1 two years and some months in and I still take monthly anniversary pics. I've started a loc journey album from those pics

I thought I'd be able to bypass the shrinkage since I started with braidlocs. 8mths later and I'm shorter than where i started...😭
Nooooo please don’t tell me that😫😫😫 I just started my braidlocs 1 months ago😩

Y'all that's how locs form... shrinking, tangling, matting

1 started Nov 2021 thank you for the video really great advice
its overstated and sounds cliched but that's why people say trust the process and enjoy the journey

I’m just hearing about “knotted loc’s”.
What are they?
How do they form?
How are they maintained?
What makes them different from other loc’s?
It seemed like the first 3 years my hair was short then it just suddenly started growing like crazy
All locs grow it’s put away your not combing it locs doesn’t grow 😂 that ain’t true I am getting locs soon
I’d say around from 6- 2 years for your hair to lock up

How is it going with your fine hair. Mine is too, I feel the same, just let it do it thing. I’m patiently waiting for density🙏🏽

Try braiding in the new growth, not to tight though. Hope it helps cause it helped me.

Absolutely!! That’s such a necessary conversation because I also have hair that grows away from my locs
@@thedigitalloctician Thank you so much! ❤️
Crochet it in, palmroll it, or "sew" it in
Shed hair that you see with loose natural hair actually falls into the forming locs.
Manipulate the hair into a coil with a regular regimen using a healthy product and keeping your hair clean
