Considering the beating You gave it in the cold I am amazed none of the plastics broke. The most common failure on most cars around here is shattering plastics (and bending drive shafts) when smacking into a kerb or steel railings. 10 out of 10 for proper hardcore testing and 10 our of 10 to HPI for making such a rugged machine. Can see this being a whole bunch of fun !
Hello, can you please do a comparisson between this truck and the FTX Carnage 2.0 Brushless ? they are similar however the FTX is way cheaper. Thanks in advance and keep up the great job.
In this class, the Team Associated Rival MT10 with RPM arms can't be beaten. I was just playing with my 1997 HPI Nitro RS4 the other day. It still runs like it was brand new. I miss the HPI of those days. Was able to run in my local hobby shop and they were loaded with HPI parts. I think I just got teary-eyed. HPI does that to me, lol.
The first brushless truck I ever saw was an HPI, I don't remember the name, Savage Flux? It was great. A friend had it for years, then got out of the hobby and gave all his RC stuff to his nephew. When he got back into it, he infected me again, and I have a Granite and a TT Pro. The HPI Maverick Quantum2 was on my list when I bought the Granite on sale for about the same price. If HPI parts showed up nearly as much as Arrma 3S stuff does, I would have bought it instead.
Atleast they have addressed the issues and made them alot better. I had the Maverick quantum flux and it broke every run and I never took it to a skate park. I rolled it on grass and it snapped the front arm.
They made some amazing quality plastics on that , nothing else I’ve ever seen can take such a kicking in the freezing cold and have almost no damage whatsoever. HPI is on a come back and I’m all for it. Epic review Phil
Looks like a fun little budget truck that's tough as nails. The reason we have less issues over here in Oz with bodies, especially in summer cause the heat softens them, so they deform rather than crack, and they bounce back more easily. It was 40 c 2 days ago here in Sydney, and it's not unusual for it to get hotter still before it starts cooling down again which makes bodies fairly pliable. If you want better consistency and punch from your lipo's year round, a trick I learned from a flyer is to put them in the waist band of your pants for about 30 minutes before use. That will give you both more consistent and warmer battery temps for your speed runs making it a more even playing field for car comparisons year round. Cheers from Australia. 🤘🍻
Seems the MT10 has a Rival! See what I did there....? Nice and thorough review, Phil, as ever, GJ! Interesting that HPI have cottoned on to using you guys as not only reviewers but also essentially testers too. Nice work by those guys, depsite teh amount of risk if it all goes wrong.
This does not compete with the Rival MT10 or Granite. It is nose heavy, nose dives in the air, so it can barely do a single backflip. Many less expensive RC’s have this problem. They’re so light, so to avoid constant wheelies on the ground, weight has to be put forward, then it sucks in the air. Any time you see a video and the person can do front flips more easily than backflips, that means it’s a nosediver. An MT10 or Granite can triple backflip off these skatepark ramps easily and will float straight airs without nosediving. This looks like a good RC for the money, but this is clearly a sponsored video, so take any claims with a grain of salt. Just watching I can tell you, this is not in the same league as an MT10 or Granite in terms of aerial performance.
@@tyrellcorp2118 I think "clearly a sponsored videos" is a bit of an unfair take. It's clearly taking a load of abuse! But I'm definitely wanting to understand the nosy heavy trait that it seems to have in the air right now. I've looked at pictures off the chassis, it's not like it has the motor at the front or any unusual layout, perhaps it's got some weights? But that seems a bit weird to do intentionally... Hopefully Tomley and other youtubers will do some more detailed looks into this as it's got a lot of potential with this price point imo.
The MT10 & 3s Arrma range are the best 1/10 bashers you can get… I’ve never said any different. This Quantum struggles on 2s to keep the front end up, however, run it 3s the same as the Arrmas and MT10 and it’s a completely different truck. I mention that quite clearly in the video. And as much as this probably wouldn’t win in a shoot out with an MT10 or 3s BLX… let’s not forget the price of this. In the UK it’s 249. The MT10 is 339 and the Arrmas are about 359. This Maverick has no competition at its price point, so the only comparison is to go up a level…. Sponsored Video or not, it’s a decent truck.
@@jayfarthing a nose heavy RC doesn’t mean it has everything slammed all the way to the front. Simply moving your battery forward or backwards a little affects the weight balance. Slightly forward weight has lots of advantages, better handling, keeps the front wheels on the ground. Many RC’s are designed that way. But if you want a good jumper, you want neutral in the air. THAT is the MT10/Granite’s main strength. Especially in a smaller RC. Smaller RC’s are especially twitchy so if they’re also unbalanced, it’s very noticeable in the air. Just watch if the driver is having trouble keeping the nose up. Can the RC float in the air, or does it require constant throttle to avoid a nosedive? Also on a balanced RC, backflips are easy, while front flips require very deliberate technique. If you see an RC front flipping all over, but straining to pull a back flip, it’s nose heavy in the air. Durability isn’t everything, it has to perform first.
I am so glad HPI is still doing new releases. I was worried HPI was just being squeezed for what money was left in the company. I am a long time fan of the products and hope development continues. I do not own any Mavericks but like what i see. This one is a good start.

just seen it,, 249 seems a great price, almost makes me ask what's the catch. 249 for a monster truck, 1/10. brushless basher is entry price, it has no right to be so durable with such performance, I am really impressed. its over 100 quid cheaper than the MT 10 which is fair to say is considered the standard for super durable, affordable 1/10 bashers.
Great to see Maverick with some new updated trucks, 2 things i see i dont like is the 3660 motor with a tiny 3.175mm motor shaft. The other is the single centre battery strap, i have a number of batteries where the battery leads/connectors come out the top of the battery. This makes it pretty difficult holding the battery along its centre a, would have prefered 2 straps going accross the width of the battery tray like in the original Quantum.
Another great video Phil. Please bring back the sound effects with the pointer finger though. It never gets old. I'm excited that HPI is stepping back up to the plate.
I'm not a fan of HPI, The HPI MT Bullet Flux was very disappointing but the Maverick line up seems to be their best work. I'll look forward into purchasing this truck, thanks for the review.
Nice review, hope it comes out at a decent price. I've got a Maverick Quantum Flux and it's great fun to drive when it's working, but I do kinda regret buying one in hindsight. Constantly breaking bits of drivetrain - be that the Diffs coming apart and slipping, shearing the centre drive shaft, stripping gears, meshing issues, or the grub screw on the centre drive shaft working it's way lose. Only ever broke one arm! Repairing any off the drive issues was always a pain, it's a pig to dismantle, need to remove 20+ screws to get to a diff. This new truck looks way more sturdy, and from what I could see in the video, easier to work on. Not sure I'd buy one right now after the niggles I've had with the older model, but if I get back into bashing this year I'll give it a look versus the competition once we see a price.

Thank you for the great vid, I presume they will release a RX version like Maverick Quantum RX Flux 4S 1/8 4WD Rally Car. Does this Quantum 2 design a lot better than the old platform? I'm quite interested to get the RX Flux, but this vid gets me thinking to wait for Quanum 2 for RX. What do you think?
Hopefully they also offer the truggy version, lets hope they also do a new Quantum + version with the longer wheelbase. Followed by new versions of the 4s Quantum R on road truck along with new version of the 4s Quantum RX Rally. Lets hope !
Right on I really like the Jumpshot Flux 2wd SC truck. It's a little skinny chassis, but the thing is built like a tank and only has one flaw that you already pointed out in your review. Really impressive for the money these HPI rigs!
being a old hpi racer 20 plus yrs ago. i've been hoping they would get back to truly making new rc. though not the same people , it would be nice to see them come back true not just use nos .
Yay, more HPI love! Great to see more HPI products being brought into the public eye. Although... I can hardly talk, I only own one HPI model. And what a performer! Double-edged sword for HPI, because now they have to produce own-brand products that justify the extra price over Maverick-brand products!
Looking to get back into the hobby and this truck looks super interesting. I wonder what the price will be. Saw it listed for just over 400 CAD on some site.
I’ve got 2 first maverick quantum and never had any issues Phil tbh .. but the newer version don’t look that much different.. shell is nice.. wheels very similar to original.. few added features.. but I am a maverick hpi fan boy so would most probably buy ..
Pretty awesome truck, Phil!!! 😃 Fantastic bashing and review! I just think it needs a longer wheelie bar. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I appreciate a good skatepark vid because we all now know exactly how strong this thing is... Great stuff Phil. Now I know I can buy one if I want and it's not going to break instantly 👍👍👍
I have to admit I really like this truck and it’s a great price either brushed or brushless the green body and wheels look stunning to me but that’s my opinion definitely worth a look
Hey Phil, are you aware that FMS is using your FMT Colorado video on Amazon? I just ran across it today. I didn’t know if you had that worked out with them or if they were doing it without your knowledge.
I bought my first HPI Savage back in 2000. The best is the Flux SS . This is a mild little cousin on a lcg tray, but still using proprietary plastics. Imo superior to Traxxas and other manufacturers plastics, control arms and bulkheads (not the Lexan body. )

I’m VERY impressed by this new model !!!!!
Well done HPI/MAVERICK !!👍
Very curious to know the price… It can be the new RIVAL MT10……
Agree.. and at the price point, it’s close to what the MT10 was when it was first released
Yay, more HPI love! Great to see more HPI products being brought into the public eye. Although... I can hardly talk, I only own one HPI model.
And what a performer! Double-edged sword for HPI, because now they have to produce own-brand products that justify the extra price over Maverick-brand products!
Good point! Let's hope the Next 'New' HPI release is a banger!
This was a cool fun vid. Ratings for ur jumps and flips. Anything 1/10 or under is too small for me tho.
Thanks mate
Beautiful jump!👍
Rcbody armor will help preserve body even in cold weather.
Looking to get back into the hobby and this truck looks super interesting. I wonder what the price will be. Saw it listed for just over 400 CAD on some site.
Mr Phil, my AVC in my infraction is correcting the wrong way… how do I reverse it??? Help!
I’ve got 2 first maverick quantum and never had any issues Phil tbh .. but the newer version don’t look that much different.. shell is nice.. wheels very similar to original.. few added features.. but I am a maverick hpi fan boy so would most probably buy ..
Lots of changes, so more to do with the plastics and set up. ie lower shock towers. Chassis brace… better a arms… diffs etc
@@TomleyRC .. well glad they’ve had a chassis bar and strengthened it.. but let’s not talk to soon lol 😂
Great video & awesome truck. Loving the red, white & black colour scheme, Van Halen vibes there JUMP anyone, haha.
Another must have! I do believe the cold was indeed a factor. Love this beast!! Great video ‼️👍👍🦾🦾🤘🤘
Agree.... and in the Summer I bet this will stand up to some really bad landings
Pretty awesome truck, Phil!!! 😃
Fantastic bashing and review!
I just think it needs a longer wheelie bar. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Reminds me a lot of the mr10. Nice work maverick
Yes, it would give it a good battle as well!
The red body is very Van Halen
I appreciate a good skatepark vid because we all now know exactly how strong this thing is... Great stuff Phil. Now I know I can buy one if I want and it's not going to break instantly 👍👍👍
Yes, and they do often break… but quite often it’s not the cars fault 😅
" the more s,'z means more power yesss" 😂😂
Apparently!
@@TomleyRC
It was supposed to be a joke. Bcuz that's what Mr. Talbot says.
@@lukerecore I know 😉
Great video as always
Cheers dude
That looks like a good solid truck mate, especially for a budget model.
If you had to chose between this car, the Big Rock 3s and the MT10. Which one would you chose? If they are the same price, or very close.
I have to admit I really like this truck and it’s a great price either brushed or brushless the green body and wheels look stunning to me but that’s my opinion definitely worth a look
Love a skatebark bash! For science reason ofcourse ❤😂
Always for Science :)
Hey Phil, are you aware that FMS is using your FMT Colorado video on Amazon? I just ran across it today. I didn’t know if you had that worked out with them or if they were doing it without your knowledge.
what do you use for the on-board sidecar shots? looks super-fun!
I bought my first HPI Savage back in 2000. The best is the Flux SS . This is a mild little cousin on a lcg tray, but still using proprietary plastics. Imo superior to Traxxas and other manufacturers plastics, control arms and bulkheads (not the Lexan body. )
You should try with a bigger pinion. A 50mph pinion
I honestly think you produce some of the best videography of any UA-camr I watch. Nice work.Funny how we all end up watching the same channels been watching aussi playground for a very long time!
What lipo did you run it on?
_"Good News"_
HPI made an RC Dacia Sandero?
Haha 😂
You forgot the tuba sound when the pointer first came out!!!😮😮
Skatepark's RC Videos sind die besten 🎉🎉🎉weiter so gute Videos.!!!🎉🎉🎉
can someone tell me the size of the battery compartment... I can't find any information anywhere. Thanks
Was just wondering which camera you use for filming. It is always awesome.
Studio footage is a Sony ZV1, and outdoor stuff usually a GoPro
Never seen such god build cars, HPI is my Favorit.
What would you recommend between an arrma senton 3s, an arrma vorteks or the quantum2 flux?
Love all your videos Phil I'm front Tasmania could you possibly do some reviews on remo hobby cars?
Great video! I deleted my last comment because i was wondering how it stacks to the small savage hpi has.
Any news about the new 3s arrma?
I don't recall any new 3s stuff from arrma. They just released the 6s big rock if that's what you're thinking of
@@StognaBolognaFPV no mate, granite and big rock for sure are discontinued.. 99% sure that this applies to the vorteks also.. at least in Europe
They have discontinued the Granite 3s in the UK.. so hope they sort something out!
@@TomleyRC a third differential!💪👍💯

Is that a guess
