    My mondeo is keyless and wouldn’t go in service mode so this video helped massively, I couldn’t understand why the old inner pad had worn at an angle? And not evenly like the outta pad but new pads are on and all working great 👍 thanks for the insight

    Nuni that was a very good and helpful explanation. I Like the part where you removed the electronic parking brake from the caliper. Nice tip.
    You can also set the electronic parking brake in maintenance mode without a scan tool, using a combination of actions as follows:
    Activation:
    Set the ignition to ON.
    Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB.
    Set the ignition to OFF, then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
    The EPB system will be deactivated, preventing parking brake application until service has been completed and maintenance mode has been deactivated. The yellow electronic parking brake indicator will be illuminated and maintenance mode will display on the message center.
    Set the ignition to OFF, then release the accelerator pedal and EPB switch.
    When replacing rear brake pads in maintenance mode, the brake caliper piston must be compressed into the caliper housing.
    The brake caliper piston does not have to be rotated while compressing the piston.
    Deactivation:
    Carry out the following service mode deactivation procedure to activate the EPB system.
    Set the ignition to ON.
    Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch in the APPLY (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
    Set the ignition to OFF, then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
    Release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
    The EPB system will fully apply and release the parking brake to guarantee sufficient air gap between the rear brake pads and brake disc.
    Whether you have the start stop button or a key start system the same procedure applies.

    I tried to retract the piston using the online methods with the park brake button and accelerator but it didn't work. Your manual method worked perfectly. Unfortunately, before I saw this video, I blew a piston when I stupidly pulled the handbrake on while the caliper was off. The piston extended all the way and popped out. I was able to put it back but unfortunately I stuffed up the mechanism. Was getting a handbrake warning and non stop chime while driving. Bought a second hand one and fitted it myself. When the oil on the old faulty one drained out, out came about 50 tiny ball bearings and springs. Mechanism busted. So, it was an expensive lesson. Don't pump your brake of hit the handbrake switch while the calipers is out 😣.

    I have a question for you, I have the same vehicle, but I accidentally turned the caliper piston counter clockwise. Now I have the error message on my dash, do I open the caliper housing to reset it? The piston did go in with the tool, but now the limited brake service light is on. How can I fix It? Scan tool? Opening the caliper housing? I did put my car in service mode before I started my brake service

    • @axores20
      @axores20  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. If you did put into brake service the motors should go all back and then what u need to do is only push the piston in. And fit new pads and then after all wheels all put on u should turn off the service brake and the calipers should back to normal position. If now u got a error you will need a scanner. What u can do is now leave the handbrake off and turn off the car. Disconnect the battery. Do what i did do, remove the motors and turn it to the correct position till locks like i did on the video and put motor on. Do the same another side. Put all together and reconnect the battery. It should back to normal. But before all this if you got a scanner check 1st the codes. If u don't jave a scanner then follow my procedure. ☺️

    • @axores20
      @axores20  2 роки тому +1

      Also make sure you did not damaged any wire or disconnected any plugs from the calipers ☺️ let me know the outcome.

    Hey Bro, I need your help, I just got a limited brake service message on my dash. I ran the scanner and it gave me codes, C2005 and C1034. I replaced the actuator motor on the right side thinking that would solve the problem but it still has those codes, I’ve tried almost everything from disconnecting the battery to erasing the codes, but nothing seems to fix it. My last option is to replace the wiring harness on the right side since that’s where the code is coming from, but I dunno. You helped me a few months ago when I stuck, kinda hoping you had an idea on what it could be?

    Hi Nuno. During the trip, my brake blocked and I disassembled it and tried to work it out and lubricate it. I screwed in the piston because I didn’t have the tools to squeeze it, but I didn’t know I had to put the handbrake in service mode. And now my handbrake doesn't work when I turn it on. The car displays an error and the parking brake light flashes. Can I return the handbrake to its original position and clear the fault or have I broken the handbrake and have to buy a new part? The foot brake works normally.
    Tnx

      Hi there, i would do this, 1st disconnected the battery, number 2 you need do this to both back wheels, take the electronic bit away like i did on the video, next u need push the piston all in. Put back the motor. Both wheels do the same. Then pump the brake pedal few times. When brake pedal feel hard connect the battery. Turn on the car and try apply the brake. It should work 😃

      @@axores20 Hi. Here's what happened. I tried the procedure from the video. And I noticed when I push the brake piston the handbrake shaft doesn’t rotate. So obviously that part is broken. But then I had to go to work in another state and I didn't have time to repair. Tomorrow I'm going to the auto parts store and I'll buy a new piston or if it's not a big difference in price a complete new brake caliper. I think I will have less problems if I buy a set of brake calipers because I have never changed the brake piston and I don’t know how complicated it is to change all those seals. Sorry for the longer answer. And once again, you helped me a lot, thank you.
