What I love most about Jeph Loeb’s writing for Batman is how well he understands Bruce. IMO, he’s a character with 3 identities: (1) The public, playboy persona; (2) The Batman persona, where he plays up dramatics; it’s an identity he gives to himself to feel strong and confident; and (3) The REAL Bruce Wayne, an intelligent and physically strong man but with some insecurities, especially involving social relationships, and his paranoia/overthinking. Jeph Loeb, Jim Starlin, and a few other writers understand this and that’s why I really adore their Batman work (it’s also why Matt Reeves’s The Batman is my favorite Bat-film). Great review, Dominick, though I will say that I’d personally like to see more non-Batman DC reviews. I really think you’ll dig Mr. Miracle and Strange Adventures by Tom King, Question by Denny O’Neil, and Orion by Walt Simsonson if you want any recommendations.
Like that breakdown and something I have not much considered. I sometimes see identities 2/3 as one merged but I really like your perspective here! Thanks for watching. And yeah, I’m definitely interested in checking out King’s Non-Batman DC stuff that mister miracle run is one I definitely want to read
@@TheComicBookReport Tom King and Mitch Gerards’s Mr. Miracle is brilliant. It’s a 5/5 book, IMO. Though I’m not a big sci-fi fan, I do have a soft spot for the New Gods. King’s version is definitely different, a lot more deconstructed, but still amazing…just not the best portrayal of Orion but ah well 😂
Hi! For me thi1s is the real Batman! Tim Sale is a great artist with a unique style of drawing and the plos of Jeff Jobs are smart and funny. Great omnibus! And "Dark Kights" by Miller is socks!
Dude, this looks amazing! Thanks for the review. As I’m dipping into DC I was going to avoid Batman/Superman stuff to start out but…idk very tempting here…
This is the best Batman omnibus I’ve come across so far. I think for any comic fan Batman The Long Halloween is an absolute must read by itself! If you end up checking this out you’ll have to let me know :) 🦇🦇🦇
PHENOMENAL REVIEW bro ! One of the greatest reviews I've seen you do. I can hear the passion so clear throughout this video, you went so in depth on the characters and story and even the art. You definitely make me wanna re-visit this run. Definitely a masterpiece ! Great review man !
Thanks so much man! I appreciate you stopping by! 💪👏📚 Such a great read. This Omni was the first time I was able to read the Catwoman story fun in-universe story for sure
Oh wow! I sincerely hope you enjoy! 🦇 This omnibus was the first time I had the chance to read the catwoman story! Thoroughly enjoyed it, a fantastic inclusion on this omnibus
Wow. This is an awesome looking omni. I am one of the few Batman fans that hasn’t read Long Halloween. I feel the shame…😳 I am definitely going to read it now. The art just wasn’t quite my thing I guess. I wanted to ask you something, Dominick. I love Soule’s Darth Vader and I looking to read more of his stuff. I love DD by Zdarsky, Miller and Bendis but I haven’t read anything by Charles Soule. You’re a big DD fan; do you like Charles Soule’s run? Is it worth investing in the omni? Do you have any other Charles Soule recommendations?
No shame whatsoever it just means you have an incredible journey ahead of you! I think at least The Long Halloween is essential for all Batman comic fans! 👏 I haven’t read a ton of Charles Soule. I am a gigantic daredevil fan and have read his whole run. I did enjoy it but it’s not my favorite of the modern DD runs. I’d say there are Daredevil runs I prefer but I’ve you’ve read some of them already and are a Soule fan it’s still a very fun read and the art has a terrific style 👏 I may need to review more of that run on the channel I don’t think I’ve covered any of it yet. Only other recommendation I have is Undiscovered Country! It’s an ongoing image title with Co-authored by Scott Snyder and Charles Soule. Im reviewing the second volume friday actually, I think I reviewed the first a few months back. I have definitely enjoyed making my way through that series so far! Happy reading my friend
@@TheComicBookReport Oh yeah, I saw your review on the Undiscovered Country. I like Snyder too. So that sounds good. 👍 I am going to buy a DD tpb vol. 1 to check it out first. Thanks again for your daily advice, Dominick. 😉 Have a nice day. 👊🏻
@@benupc yeah I’m sure the Omni is nice but I’ve got the paperbacks for all of Soule’s run myself that’s a great way to take a look to see if it’s your flavor! Let me know what you think :)

I'm new to these, but this review got me to get this one today. I always heard great things about the cat woman story.

I don't know why Omnibuses didn't come with behind the cover art work with the expense to purchase one!!!
I believe this is an older omnibus. I know under the dust jacket art work has been a newer feature the last handful of years
I already have the trades except catwomen in rome, but i might buy this
I was the same way. The Omni is great to have it all in one and love that oversized format 🦇
Great review man! I love this omnibus, I recommend you to read Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason's Batman and Robin Omnibus is another excellent run.
I’ve only read the first 7-8 issues of that run but loved it. Have been hearing great things about that omnibus for sure 🦇🦇🦇
@@TheComicBookReport It's a really cool read! Keep with the good work!
