In the Bleak Mid Winter - Steam Trains

Saturday, December 9, 2017 started as a damp, gray, unpleasant day.
Highlight was to be the 12 steam train round trips operated by the Valley Railroad in Essex, CT. The first Santa Special departed Essex at 9:30 in the morning, and the two train sets made 6 trips. It started snowing around 11:00, and by afternoon, everything was white! Then, at 3:00 PM, the first of 6 North Pole Express trains departed. These run mainly at night, and I was too tired and cold to stay until dark. Please enjoy your visit.
