Often times, after the sun goes down and the air becomes still, one might be able to hear the sounds of a train off in the distant, making its way through the darkness to its destination, wherever it might be. Many railroad photographers, such as the great O. Winston Link, spent their nights under the stars with cameras and flashes along the tracksides, watching and listening for their subjects to appear out of the darkness. Taking a bit of inspiration from OWL, I decided to spend some of my nights trackside as well. With that in mind, I compiled a collection of my personal favorite nighttime scenes of steam locomotives from the past three years into this video. From the quiet rural countrysides to the ever-busy commuter platforms, steam locomotives storm through the night on their way to their destinations, wherever they might be. Now, please enjoy this exciting video brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!
9:00 to 9:32 had some serious polar express vibes. Absolutely amazing!!
Fantastic. Steam is truly majestic at night; you captured it perfectly.
Beautiful! Those engines look so cool in the night.
This is why I love steam locomotives, they will look majestic at any time of day
The tone of the bells beginning to ring in the darkness at 6:30, then ending the segment of the fast moving freight, is just awesome!
7:58 that has to be my favorite shot! Steam and snow at night!
Just seeing heavyweight passenger cars pull into a station at night always looked cool to me!
I amanged to see Union Pacifc 844 pull into Kansas City Union Station at night back in 2016! I have a video of it on my channel, but the camera I had didn't take good video at night.
That glow from the firebox starting at 4:39 is purely magical!!! Fucking AMAZING!
Awesome stuff. I saw that your Christmas video with the 425 got mentioned on the Reading & Northern's winter news magazine. Nice job!
425 looks stunning in this! The blue is amazing, but the way it looks at night, making it looking black is just breathtaking.
I may be Australian but it's still nice to see steam take over.
My two year old absolutely loves this and requests "night train" all the time.
Night and sunset scenery will always be my favorite. There's something about the lights that shine brightly into the night, especially since I was born in NYC, and the colors of the sunset is undebatedly beautiful, trains match these the best. Check out the 1980's commercial for the Amtrak California Zephyr, that's a fine example
My favorite, Pere Marquette no.1225. Became an inspiration to the animated version of her in 2004's The Polar Express.
I feel the exact same ❤
Absolutely awesome!! A rare treat to see these things at night!
I believe everyone is gonna be disturbed in their sleep by these engines rumbling past their houses in the middle of the night
Awesome video! As opposed to during the day, I always think it's magical hearing and seeing steam engines at night.
My favorite trains are the Polar Express 1225, Nickel Plate 765 and the Norfolk and Western 611. Thanks for sharing these great moments. 🚂🚄🚞🚅🚟🚉🚈🚋🚊🚃
Very nice
It's really incredible seeing a steam train traveling through the night at speed.
Dang, it must have been an incredible sight to see the S1 or T1 plowing down the tracks at their top running speed at night.
I love this, there is no creature nearly as beautiful as a steam engine
I find it kinda funny that of all steam engines, RBMN 425 seems to have taken title of the loudest, although it is very loud, you can barely hear the whistle over it
Dixie Farmboy A worthy successor from the Frisco 1522, in my opinion
Add steam in the twilight to events like night baseball games and NASCAR night races, that is when NASCAR was still worth watching.
This is beautiful and amazing. There's just something about steam locomotives at night that just gets your imagination running and blood pumping through your veins. Great work!
Awesome video all around. Even though I've seen some of these clips in your other videos, I was happy to watch them again with shots of similar mood. The CNJ shots at Minersville are still some of my favorite, the lighting is perfect!
Amazing video of some of the finest steamers out there
Why am i just now seeing this? SUBSCRIBED! 😃
Steam is in the air tonight. Fantastic work.
This is awesome. I’m going to cast this to my big screen and see it again. My wife and I (and our 4 yr old son) went on a steam line in NM years ago and we all loved it - charcoal bits and all!
Beautiful,so cool,wish I were there,thanks,Geoff,UK
One of the most enjoyable videos I've watched in a long time. Thank you.
Nothing is more beautiful than a passenger train or any train traveling at night
Absolutely stunning! Some of my favorite videos of steam engines I've taken and seen are at dusk or night.
I'm happy that #60 made it!
Steam is king!
The sounds of the high-speed pass at 3:44. Absolutely brilliant!
This may be one of the best train videos I’ve ever seen.
Marvelous! Just like OWL's pictures of N&W steam at night.
WOW! Absolutely AWESOME VIDEO! Of nighttime steam locomotives!
Fabulous vid.....and thanks to all the tens of thousands of RR steam enthusiasts that made the taking of such a vid possible by restoring these locos and cars. Without your efforts, the world would be a much poorer place.
The intro scene of 611 was amazing, I caught that literally right behind you!
It’s been awhile since I’ve been into Trains but I miss stuff like this!
Just beautiful.
Such beauty, and such elegance.
You just earned yourself a sub.
That was a really great watch!
Really nice shots, made my day! Thank you!
Hats off to you! The video is Spectacular!
This is a very unique and different video! Very, very nice!
Nice work. Big fan of OWL.
WOW, very well done!
Fantastic
What I really noticed here is the audio qaultiy is incredible
For the Carland Elevator scenes they should have added some sort of fake date like April 12, 1957 or something like that. Sense that scene basically came straight out of the 1950’s.
KISSFanDan1995 Right during the true twilight age of American steam!
Awesome video
Well done!!!!!!
The first train, 24 cars including 1 or 2 diesels. I’ve never seen anything so long.
Y did my last 3 brain cells think this was scenes from the twilight zone
The only thing I’ve seen from the twilight zone is the tidal zone from sponge bob
I'm going to share this on my Facebook train group
See how the night sky glows,
See the light from the night train,
The fire glow from the night train.
On down the line he blows...
Woooooo-oooooo!!!
On down the line he blows.
These very nice trains when at night :) very nice video :)
I love it when 765 whistle at high speed
EARTH ANGEL 😇 AWESOMELY GRAND, ROMANTIC AND NOSTALGIC!!!!!!👍😱😳😍❤️🚂👍
#425 shootin' sparks from the stack seen around 6:55! She was gettin' it!
If you sat through this whole video, you’ll know your a true rail fan!
Looks at title: "Twilight scenes? Hell no, that was a shitty movie."
Looks again.
Looks at thumbnail.
"Oh sweet, nvm. I can't read lol"
Beautiful footage!
I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE STEAM LOCOMOTIVES SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! :-D
Its very hard to tell what train it is unless you reconize the whistle from it but this is very cool nice work!
Never knew Metra pushed steam trains with their MP36PH-3C engines.
Nice job. 👍
765 did all the work when it led, the MP36 was only there to pull the train back to Joliet
10:58 is a amazing shot!
Was really worried on clicking this would be a different Twilight
4:52 Why does the whistle sound like it's from a Japanese engine?
Sam Dickenson it does
0:28 When i combine all my Lego coaches to make the train as long as possible:
3:05 I got Hurricane Express vibes from this. Probably the whistle and the train moving at that speed.
Wow
8:30
これは良いジングルベル

襲来したかのような
素晴らしい景色です
Watching this now, wow, what a fantastic sight to behold lineside, both in sight and sound! Thanks for this!
(P.S. What camera did you use for this?)
Just wait until PRR 5550 is complete
14:09 absolutely perfect
they did a good job of filing N&W #611
Something about the 1225 at night. Also please tell me you got that as a picture too, I’ll buy a copy.
The Nickel Plate Road #765 is back!
And yet I like steam engine locomotives and diesels
Wow engine 40 sounds and looks almost identical to engine 90 at Strasburg
It’s kind of intimidating
That horn
Lovely. Out of curiosity, where were you located at 2:30? It seems like such a cool vantage point.
Toronto Transit Channel that’s the High Point, NC station
If you haven’t already, could you put together a tips and tricks to your filming videos? It’s not necessary, but it’d be helpful to some of us.
9:50 and 10:55 god damn, that engine rocks like a drunk driver
Dude! may I use a sample from your video on my collab video? I'll put all your credit as described on your description above. Thanks in advance! Cheers!
Unfortunately I can’t allow that
@@BlueCometProductions Oh, okay! thanks for the response! btw congrats for the great job!
I'm so mad, I had no idea the 611 was coming through high point nc, else I'd have been there.
It went through there somewhat frequently over the years. Most ferry moves between Spencer and Roanoke went through High Point.
@@BlueCometProductions this is true, but, living in charlotte nc, I haven't heard anything about it coming through high point. Hell I didn't even know it was at spencer when it got rebuilt 5 years ago. I haven't been able to find any info on excursions until after it happens.
It’s been doing that for the past five years, they even ran a trip to Charlotte
@@BlueCometProductions as I said, I haven't heard about any of it. It doesn't get covered in the news, and all info I find is out of date.
My favourite steam train is Gordon
I wish they’d paint the 113 blue
3:11
How Many coaches that train pull?
12:40 - You sure this was recorded 2 years ago?
Mind if i use a bit of this on my music video?
Unfortunately I cannot allow that
Absolutely grand diesels have nothing on steam locomotives
Sims like screaming whistle nkp 765 3:12
4:53
Cop: "So, exactly how did you end up on the track while the signals were red and the bell was ringing to indicate there was a train coming?"
Driver: "I didn't know there was a train coming. Besides, otherwise they keep you waiting at a closed crossing for 20 minutes before that stupid train finally comes through.
Local: "I live 20 miles away from the track, yet I could hear that thing screaming already when it was just coming through the neighboring town, which is ten miles from here. How the f*ck did you not know there was a train coming, haulin' balls down the line?!"
Turn up the vlume to 11.
Nice job that was great
