11:12 I loved seeing those little kids jump up and down from the excitement! Brought a tear to my eye! This is why we need steam folks, for memories that last a lifetime!
Exactly my point. the best Steamers are dead, we need them back. N&W 1218, Atlanta & West Point 290, & many others had their careers cut short, they deserve to be brought back to bring back more exciting memories for the Next Generations
@@EngineerDaylight wtf 💀
@@smrcatt what?
@@EngineerDaylight they're retired for good, as inflation over time has risen and the costs are too high to try and bring these marvels back to life 😔

9:31 is absolutely amazing, sends shivers down my back!
Love that whistle. 9:31
There are some truly great scenes in this film, but the shot at 10:00 and the the shot after take the cake.

Awesome video. I would love to see 765 dressed as a C&O engine again.
Yeah, double heading with AFT Colors For SP 4449 with aft baggage, then that contest without Safety express coaches and Amtrak coaches instead. AMTK 503 diesel helper.
@@mbp2ndchannel If you got the cubic meters of 100 dollar bills to make something like that happen, by all means, do with that money as you please in regards to making that sorta thing happen. Otherwise, dreams and train sims are the land where one makes that happen.
C&O 2762
C&O 2716 was in good condition, Why not keep the Berk a Berk and use a real C&O Locomotive! CSX Has become very sour these days.
The C&O 2716's flues had expired at the time
Arthur Mills ah yes, she was under restoration at the time, correct? At Fort Wayne.
Actually, C&O 2716 was still in her Southern scheme at this time, and she also had her firebox problems, which wouldn’t be solved until FWRHS took 2716 into their hands 2 years after 765 was pulled out of service. But hey, dressing 765 up as a Kanawha was pretty cool, and it’s better than no steam at all on CSX.
Has anyone here heard about the Kentucky steam corporation restoring 2716?
That was an amazing video Bob! Thanks for sharing!
Everyone all aboard the steam train.🚂
Wish we could see duplicate of this trip, or any steam on CSX for that matter.
Thomas Bush agreed, maybe the C&O #614 since it’s a C&O loco
I wish Pere Marquette 1225 was a Kanawha too.
Jackie Lien or as Chesapeake and Ohio 2659. The actual number the C&O gave her.
She never wore a C&O scheme in regular service. The closest she’d ever come to being in a C&O scheme was when she was on display at MSU, with C&O lettering on the tender, but the same road number of 1225.
1225 was never renumbered. She's kept going with The Pere Marquette.
J L no I thought it was a N-3 berk
@@1829entertainment 1225's an N-1 Berk.
Thank you Bob, added to a playlist...
Excellent camera work, Bob.
Thank you for sharing.
Nkp 765 dress up as The Chesapeake and Ohio 2765. Originally 2765 was build by ALCO in 1947, the engine was used in revenue service on the C&O in 1955, the locomotive was scrapped in 1961.

Awesome coverage, well done!!!
To think 3 years later 2716 would make a big impression
4:19 this whistle called NYC Niagara 6 chime whistle
Starting with the auxiliary water tender to the rear coach, how many pieces of rolling stock were there?
Given that most - if not all - of the cars in this train were used on the following "New River Train" from Huntington to Hinton, WV later that month, I'd say there was about 28-30 additional coaches.
Great!
where did you hear that??

please when someone is able to can you confirm for me Corbin? I couldn't find it in TN. and there are at least, 7 or 8 other states that have a Corbin, inc KY.
thanks.
2 questions: 1) Why the ubiquitous diesel engine on steam excursions; and 2) does rod clanking mean rods are loose? Nearly all steam locomotives had rod clank.
Answers to your questions:
1.) Diesels are sometimes added as helpers in territory where grades may pose a problem for getting the train over the road. But more often then not, they're in the consist to provide electrical power for the coaches (lights, A/C, heating, etc) and to help with dynamic braking going downhill.
2.) Clanking does signify some slop in the valve gear. You'll inevitably hear some clanking on almost any steam engine, but the louder it is, the bigger of a problem you may have. Nothing a little time in the shops can't fix.
One thing they could've done was give 765 an actual C&O Kanawha whistle to add to the authenticity
GameBreaker64 They did. The hooter whistle heard in this video was actually C&O 2700’s whistle. FWRHS used a number of parts off of 2700 to turn 765 into 2765.

sorry, fairly new railfan here and 1st ? I have is Knoxville to Corbin? I assume Corbin is in Tenn as well?
Corbin is in Kentucky. It is where KFC was founded.
Those UP cars in the consist were when 3985 ran on CSX rails and the 3985 said they would NOT be coming back because it was TERRIBLE!
why was it terrible for them?
Kourtney Kardashian Not sure, CSX isn't very accommodating and they said the line was not well enough maintained for a locomotive of that size. They just didn't enjoy it.
That makes sense.
Although there once had been engines her size that ran along that line, changes had been made since the end of steam. She first caught her fireman side running board on some hoppers and later had to be towed to a wye as the one she was supposed to use would not handle her huge tender.
I was on this trip me and a friend Ken babysat the yellow coaches we called em the chicken coops
Why is CSX against steam now? They denied the move of WMSR 734 10 miles to pull an excursion in WV June, 2010 on non-CSX track, and Ross Rowland's 614 can't pull the Greenbrier Express because most of it runs on CSX track. One of their statements was "No steam on its own wheels is official policy". At least NS is permitting steam movements again with TVRM and FWRHS 765, the locomotive in this video which will pull several employee specials for NS this summer in Indiana and Ohio.

They probably couldn't rebuild 2765 so they used nkp 765 and dressed her as this
Trains and adventures tv Rebulding a steam locomotive from the rails up is a lot of work and costs so much money. Just ask the Pennsylvania Railroad T1 Trust.
2765 was scrapped during dieselisation.
