- Hi everyone, here's a straight forward video on V Belt Sizes and when you might need to know it. Thanks for joinging Neil here on the Whitelaw Automotive & Performance UA-cam channel!
Do you have a belt that's worn down or broken, and now you have to go and replace it? We're here to help! Neil Harrison, owner of Whitelaw Automotive, one of North America's longest continuously operating businesses (1856), is here to explain it to you in plain english and help with identifying your auto or industrial v-belt.
What types of belts are there? How do you tell what size you have, and how to tell what might have broken it in the first place?

Very helpful, thank you
I loved the very careful editing of the video @5min! Great video, tons of info well presented.
Really very simple / nice basic infm on belt .. but it's professional and valuable .. and also your presentation very nice with necessary infm .. not bla bla .. 😊 👍
Nice vid helped alot
informative.... Thank you....
A sheathed belt (kevlar, aramid) is also better at shock loads. So in a clutching operation like drive on a riding mower or snow blower a sheathed belt would be ideal due to the high shock loads involed. Your bare cord belts don't do shock at all well and are more for constant engagement, mainly in stationary electric motor driven applications such as air compressor, blowers, conveyors, and stationary power tools.
Thank you for a very informative and helpful video. Society owes you a debt sir.
It’s me Rob with the S2000 let’s goooo man UA-cam has unlimited potential! You got this! Wanna sponsor a turbo kit for my S hahaha 😜
There could be a way we could work together on something :)
@@Shaky409 niiiice, I’ve been looking recently, it’s upwards of 10K to turbo that thing start to finish it’s insane haha. That integra was much cheaper lol.
@@Yhandor ya that's up there, you can see why people do the LS thing, same HP, less money. But all personal preference. that's what I figured to turbo the race car too....hence why it's still NA
@@Shaky409 I’ve been looking at LS :) that would be absolutely awesome to have around town, people would be shook 💪

I want a belt for my k20a engine. 7pk1770 or 7pk1778
We can get that for you, no issue at all depending on where your located.
hello good day... asking if what would you like to recommend a type of belt... i am using a 1/2 hp motor with a 3 inches diameters wide and connects to a certain shafting with also a 3 inches wide pulley...
It sounds like you are looking for flat belting or are there teeth on your pulleys? If so it would be a timing belt your after.
What size belt will fit 48"husqvarna
If your local to any of our stores, just give us a call with the year and model.
Ok, how do you determine your belt from an unlabeled pully? No belt came with the machine.
Measure the top of the pully opening gap and see if its a close to .5 inch or .625 if its a common A or B pully
a neighbor gave me a Thermoid V-Belt 5L310. What is it for ? Thanks.
This will be a light duty belt for a B series pully. As far as application goes, it could be used on many things.
@@Shaky409 Thank you.
