30 minutes of I don’t no what they’ve circled 😂 we just want to no the hammer price!!!!!
please tell me you washed it before buffing ?
Very good car no wonder car insurance is so high .I’m sure it will be great when it’s finished keep up the good work.
I bought a corsa from IAA on a 66 plate
And all it needed was a wheel alignment and one wheel painting. There’s sometimes some good finds
It's just disgusting that they write car's off for minor issues, that's why our premiums are going up every year. Having these repairs is not going to break the bank but they just don't want to spend the money, and were paying them!!!! Good for you but bad for the rest of us, like you said "their loss is my game"
I’ve heard cars are being written off
So that there is less petrol/diesel cars on the road, they want us in electric cars
Your channel started off really good but now we never see you repairing much much of the time it’s you saying what a great car it is more content m8t 👍👍👍
Hi Phil, I'm absolutely astonished. This car deserves better service from the insurance and main dealers. One of your easier projects and know you will make a very healthy profit. Looking forward to seeing the end result.😊
One fault with modern Vauxhall cars is that the touch screen can go dead in places, and they're around £700 to replace, buyer beware check the whole screen. Nice find Phil, its just had a careless owner or maybe been a motability car.
i recon that car could be a retuned mobility car, mad to be a write off............
I quite like the newer Vauxhalls particularly the new shape Mokka with its visor - like grille and when it's in a sharp metallic.
A very nice looking car, it’s really surprising to learn that it was written off for such a small amount of damage😮.
Baffling ,phil no idea why this car has been written off , unbelievable
God knows why people go for 1.2 purecrap wet belt. Had 1 in a C3 we bought in error. Drinking oil and it was in the exhaust and everywhere. Straight down to where they buy car and don't look too closely at things like that! (And they paid out more than what we bought it for!)
As much as i like your repairing videos, i also find this one really interesting, as you rightly say most of those marks are simply wear and tear. New glass in door, new tailgate and job done as far as i can see.
It isnt just the ins co writing a car like this off. The owner has probably said they dont want the car back because it's been 'vandalised' same as a lot of people dont want their car back if it is stolen and recovered. The owner probably thinks they'll get a newer better car if the car is written off so push for that outcome.
10:11 that rubber looks split
Buy a trim guard for tailgate lips to cover up damage paint. Next time wash car before buffing else all dirt will be burnt into paint work.
Watch the 1.2 Turbo variants of this - the drive belt is a “wet belt” and is known to disintegrate and clog up oil pathways, pumps, etc. - peugeot and citroen recalled there’s (same engine) but Vauxhall refuse to (even with a TSB to identify the issue) - we just got shot of ours as it had the same issue.
Very strange lol
Great video mate
The biggest scam going, just to keep insurance premiums high it's a disgrace that should be looked into by the insurance ombudsman. I would be quite happy just to have the broken glass replaced,it looks great as it is.👍👍🇬🇧
lovely car, looks like a bargain
Take it for a good drive before selling it Phil these suffer alot with the wet belts and the oil pick up gets blocked Vauxhall do it but are reluctant too out of warrenty! But if you kick and scream your voice gets heard!
It’s a Peugeot engine and they are know for it who would of thought that putting a cam belt in oil is such a stupid idea
Phil crazy how insurance company wrote this off great buy 👍
Agree other responses saying this is ex Motability - knocks around door jams are probably from walking aids. Pressure was probably on assessor to write this one off and get a new car to the owner asap.
1.2 Purecrap 130 engine 🤢 had one in a 308 T9, intake valves needed decoke at 34k & it was drinking oil by 43k when I got rid of it.
How do you get ur cars at a price worth working on? I've been trying to get a salvage for ages now, everytime I look, I find a car, consider fees, auction price and estimated repair and by the time i add it all togethaer I may as well buy straight car. I watch others buy cars at auction, but to me price seems high, then add repair fees etc and sometimes come out higher than going striaght onto auto trader.. What am i missing?
I think you got a bargain there. Shame the panels on Vauxhalls are very thin these days, they seem to pickup dings very easily.
Made that way mate,50%thinner but 50% stronger screen has some kind of special glass to cut wind noise too
That silver trim I would just spray it matt black
Hi Phil you could get a rear glass for that from auto glass or auto windscreens I would change the glass rather than change the tailgate a lot less work for you as well
Hi Phil. I would like the car even more if it was a Auto 😊. It's based on Pug 3008. The (wet belt) system is an expensive thing to change at a garage. Pity me... I have a Cat N. 2014 pug 2008 with the sane engine. What does the future hold for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A good fixer upper , will look the part when your done with it for sure . Great low miles so will be worth it for someone .
The insurance knows that if there's a lot of small damage that it has to be returned in showroom condition, or they will be refused by the owner that's why it was written off
My guess is boot glass not available from Vauxhall. They don't want to leave a loan car out for weeks while they wait ?
Its a vauxhall, 1.2 engine with wet belt. I wouldn't touch with a bargepole. Ticking time bomb lol
It's a Vauxhall so it has horrendous resale value and even minor damage will cause the insurance to write it off.
Are replacement parts readily available?
If parts are on backorder the insurance probably didn't want to pay the insured rental car cost for a long period.
My partner has a Pug 3008 with the same engine a 3 cylinder 1.2 Turbo and similar body, it is a very noisy car it might have 130hp but you would never know it with four passengers and luggage also the MPG is shockingly bad because it is a medium sized SUV with a little engine, I cant wait until they get a better car I dont like driving it because it stalls easily if you dont accelerate enough at a junction and the electric fan kicks in far too much when the car is at idle stop on a warm day which depletes the battery cranking amps. I bet if this was a diesel they would not have written it off I am guessing its because its a Vauxhall cheap and cheerful with low resale values and plenty about
I suspect the pen marks were made by a lease company when the lease had run out, they're super fussy about any marks, dents and scratches and maybe vandalised at the yard?
Hi Phil, i may be wrong in saying this but i think Copart access the cars and send details and photos to the insurance companies who then write the cars off. More monet for Copart if they overstate the damage. Plus parts are that dammed expensive now even a minor accident with extremely minimal damage could write the car off.
What year is it and what's mileage
that's crazy
Most of that damage is careless people who don’t care
Trouble is with the hours to repair and paint your be looking at about £3,500 plus glass another £1,000 because they charge insurance companies full retail. Then you have courtesy car to pay for which could be a couple of weeks so that could be another £1,500 thats like £6,000..say they value it at £10k. Then sell it at auction it is sometimes more than the repair value then get money back by putting up premiums.
as you say phil its your gain
it has a wet timing belt that breaks up that vauxhall are refusing to admit too unless customer complains I have the service bulletin
dealers tell porkys and so do VX
I despair with insurance companies writing off cars such as these. For someone who is not picky, a car like this would be a terrific buy with two windows to replace, albeit one is very expensive! I agree with your remark about the small capacity engine in a car as. If as this. Great find Phil. This is👍😎
Get a scuff guard for boot on bumper top
Left windshield wiper... what's the world coming to...
It's the 3008's slightly boring sister. To be fair to the engine choice, the Grandland X and Crossland X were co-developed with PSA before the acquisition so, like the 3008, they're not as heavy as they look.
What’s happened/happening with the c63
Looks to me like the asseser needs abit of retraining to me lol
A lot of wet belt problems with these engines, dealers want 15hours to change belt, usual problem pick up in sump gets blocked from belt deteriorating
Mine did this on a 69 plate too, Vauxhall wanted me to pay even though PSA have recalled theres with the same issue.
I went back and said PSA own Vauxhall and im not paying a penny. Touch wood I havent heard anything in 12 months!
It’s a Peugeot 3008 in drag it’s never been a vauxhall and it’s got a far to small engine for the size of car
You forgot to factor in the birdshit down near side window. Bet it was stolen with key and they have assessed all the minor car park stuff as being done, owner prob didn’t want it back.
It’s not a surprise it’s written off parts price high rental car price high amount these repair companies charge insurance is ridiculously high I got my car done small front bump we bit a damage grille bumper etc took nearly 8 weeks to get back and my insurance company sent me a a letter with the cost nearly 6 grand I was yeah you’ve been ripped off 😮
The owner will have said the car was immiculate before all the marks are from the vandalism. The roof will be thousands to repair
Is there any possibility the assessor knows the owner, otherwise you'd have to say the assessor was taking the mickey.
Probably find a long wait time for parts so the customer would need a hire car and boom - suddenly the bill is over 50% of the value of the car?
I think the insurance guy wrote it off coz its a vauxhall. 🤭
This is typical of the industry as a whole too many know alls, who actually know sweet F A! The reason this was a "write off" is more than likely that at main dealer prices, which is exactly what insurance know alls go by it would have been a new read door completely as they would not have the tools nor the skills to fit glass, and also the trims are missing, dealer price astronomical. stone chips, minor dents scratches marks would merit a total body shell going over by a panel beater and main garage has guys with those skills anymore , then of course a total respray, and main garages just don't have guys with this e skills anymore!! Hence in this throwaway society they just write it off. Don't forget a new car loses around 5k as soon as it leaves the saleroom, plus the value of a used car with or without faults is valued mainly on mileage and condition, therefore it is literally cheaper to write the car off rather than repair it at main garage charges!
why oh why ?
Ex mobility car
Lol so how much was it and book price? 😂 was it a Copart or Synetiq auction car?
that car is very unsafe. it is a total loss.
Person that marked the damage on that car must work for enterprise or one of these scam hire companies that make up fake damage
thats a joke at least you got a bargain 🤣🤣🤣
It could have been a corona victim when they was just writing everything off as companies were struggling to get back to normal just a thought
It’s hideous. My experience anyone who has front and back cameras are awful drivers and tend to be Peugeot or Vauxhall (traffic officer for 20yrs)
Bet your bottom dollar it's an ex Motability car - it's been vandalised and it's too much hassle and expensive to repair and they've cut their losses had it written off and put it through salvage. Much like hire cars that get damaged.
We had one of these. Nice car but only thing was engine no good for size of car. Needs a 1.6 or 2.0 lump under bonnet.
Its what happens when you let a 20 something year old loose with a pen who knows nothing about cars !!!! In my book its Insurance fraud !!
Is it an ex hire car.
A lot of your motors look like ex Motability cars
Hello mate
I got my wife a fiesta with 21k on it with all the window smashed and that was car d it took longer to hoover the glass up than the repair the plus was when we sold it 4 year later the hpi was clear I got more money that I paid for it
I may be wrong but shouldn’t you have washed the car before the buffering 🫣was this video just about showing us circles ? more content m8t..
