    Great how to video! I am new to the Honda mower and you taught me that the Honda will empty tipped on the ground without gymnastics. Previous mowers needed to be elevated. Also, appreciate the oil container tip...I always put "spout down".

      Glad you enjoyed it JC. Keeping the spout up is definitely important!

    *me in my head* “dude why the cardboard just do it in the grass”
    *homie in video looking out for me* “and please guys don’t do this in your grass because any spills you’ll have dead spots forever”
    LOL

    Thank you. I just want to know what the capacity was and what oil to use and we're drain plug was. So 103 for sure definitely helps the drain plug is the dipstick. So now I don't have to worry about being a dipstick not knowing they just dump it out in a proper manner thank you. Little tongue and cheek but I do thank you and I would have been looking for that pipe plug on the bottom of the motor otherwise

      Lol - you are welcome! Even though Honda didn't make it obvious, they did make it pretty convenient to change the oil!

    I would recommend changing the air filter each year as well.

    I use a measuring cup. 12 ounces. I just dump it in and only check oil before starting.

    Hello there, My lawn mower worked. Ran out of gas. I filed it with new gas it still isn’t working. Would it be that it needs new oil?

    • @growitbuildit
      @growitbuildit  3 роки тому +1

      Hi - old engine oil won't be the cause of your problem. Could be a number of things. Checking the spark plug, fuel filter (if there is one) are two easy things you could look at.

  • @dstewart7470
    @dstewart7470 Рік тому

    Does it matter if I change the oil after Stabilizing the fuel? We have a two yr old Honda Craftsman from Lowes.
    Also, can I assume there's no oil filter of any sort?

    • @growitbuildit
      @growitbuildit  Рік тому +2

      Hi D - It is no matter to change the oil after the stabilizer, as this is a 4-cycle engine, so the oil/gas are separate. Also, there is no filter!

    Got a Honda mower but my wife for some reason decided to be a handy man and poured the oil into the gas tank. I thought I got it repaired but (after the winter) when I go to start the mower it starts up fine but when I go to cut grass it makes a hard revving noise. Any easy fix or am I going to the repair shop again? Or do I have to just buy an all new mower.

    • @growitbuildit
      @growitbuildit  3 роки тому +2

      If it is just an instantaneous Rev, and maybe coughing black smoke, it could be a clogged air filter.
      But when you start mowing and the blade engages, the engine should be working harder. It's hard to say without actually hearing it myself.
      You may want to have someone look at it just to make sure nothing bad is happening.

      If anything, the carb needs a cleaning. I would start with getting any oil out of the tank, and then also take the bottom of the carburetor off and empty that. The carburetor is behind the air filter. After that, put fresh gas in and run it. It will smoke for awhile but should start improving with use. If it doesn't want to run, then it's time to clean the carburetor. Do check there is the correct amount of oil in the engine.

    You are at 80% when you check the oil..... why not slowly add until you are at 100%?

    • @growitbuildit
      @growitbuildit  Рік тому +1

      Hi - from an engineering perspective, you just need to maintain a minimum threshold. So for filling fluids, 100% full isn't necessarily better.

    UGH my mower is a husqvarna but with a honda engine. Year after year, it purs like a kitten and never has a problem.
    BUT EVERY YEAR when I change the oil, this exact same thing happens to me, and oil spill everywhere! It drives me nuts! ALL they have to do is make the spout longer so it reaches OVER the body of the mower. But nope, you are required to make a mess doing this job!

    • @growitbuildit

      It's all about speed! The trick is knowing where to put the pan.

    • @YardworkWithJohn
      @YardworkWithJohn 2 місяці тому

      @@growitbuildit I have a big oil drain pan that I use for my car and snow blower and everything. And it doesn't fit between the mower body and the spout. So spillage is guaranteed: ua-cam.com/users/shortsUfQrT_gctkg

    Quickest way to remove oil is to freeze it. The convenience of a walk in freezer is lost with the inconvenience of walking 20kms to the nearest supermarket to access one however this can be offset in numerous ways, regaining the lost time.
    • Ignore members questioning your access to the staff only area. In fact, keep your head down, act like you’re busy & you’re meant to be there & staff will ignore you. *Note:* Staff displaying a pimpled face above their name tag, on their neck to are likely to enter your designated freezer & stare at you in silence. It’s important to remember, although they are still staff members, they are your staff members & one should continue to devour the box of Maxinbon Ice creams, instruct Staff to grab a bottle of water off the shelves.
    • Add water in oil reservoir to increase the speed of freeze.
    • Carryout shopping whilst waiting for oil/water mix to freeze. Instruct staff to grab olive oil spray & baby oil.
    • Advertise black ice block on EBay as murderabilia. Preserved ‘The Cecil Hotel’ water.
    • Start Lawn mover as exiting the store to drown out Security’s request to pay for groceries.
    • Note the mower will become hot quick with no oil, spray olive oil while continuing to walk home.
    • Place Sausages on hot engine parts & enjoy, ensuring to ride the mover & eat sausages on
    any downhill parts of the route.
    • Tell staff member to STOP pushing once you have reached your property.
    • Give a list of chores to the staff member after they’ve filled the mover with the baby oil & put all the shopping away.
    • Set the staff member free prior to commencing next oil change.

    It’s actually a very stupid thing to do oil gets thicker when warm so all the gunk stays in the motor

    • @5441lance
      @5441lance 2 роки тому +9

      Oil gets thinner the hotter it gets and therefore drain faster. Saturated and any solids will also flow easier out of the engine when the oil is warmer and thinner.
