    Running on the treadmill can be easier than running outdoors, for a variety of good reasons. Treadmills give you complete control, enabling you to adjust the speed, incline, warm-up period, cool-down period, and amount of energy you expend.
    I recommend you try this 20 minute treadmill workout to take your fitness to the next level!
    I will be your own personal fitness instructor, motivating you to the very end of the treadmill workout!
    HIIT workouts - known as High Intensity Interval Training, are the most effective way to burn fat in the shortest amount of time possible. However, most people don't utilize this type of workout enough. #HIIT #HIITWorkout #Treadmill
    It's recommend to perform a 10-30 minute HIIT workout 2-3 times a week, with 24 hour rest in between HIIT workouts, in addition to other variety of fitness activities.
    This treadmill workout video is 20 minutes of sprint training, going as hard as you can for 8 rounds of 30 seconds, spaced with 90 seconds of low intensity.
    We start the treadmill workout with a 5 minute warm-up and finish the workout with a 3 minute cool-down. Please make sure you do both to reduce risk or injury!

      I feel you, except that I have a wall behind which is even more scary :]
      I left enough empty space behind though to gain consciousness and rest after my flight x_x
      Edit: the risky part for me is jumping onto a running treadmill, getting off is safer I would say... what I decided to do is to start the treadmill at lower speed, then 5-10s before the rep starts, I jump in and increase the speed so it reaches the wanted one on time...

      personally, I stay on the treadmill during the rest periods but I lower the speed to something like 6 km/h or less

    Did this 3x a week, and i ate as i usually did (I didn't do diet)
    1st month, nothing change
    2nd month, down by 5 kgs
    3rd month, down by 10 kgs
    I lost 15 kilos in 3 months, but now on the 4th i didn't lost my weight...i think it's time to change my diet

      @MiekoNeko The guy recommended that you only do this exercise three times to give your muscles an ample amount of rest. Also, try eating healthier and a bit more if you are going to exercise to kick start your metabolism.

      i lost 15 kg in 6 weeks but not with hiit i only did walk my main focus was on loose 2000calories per day loose full inclined and 6 speed only walk and did 2 hrs everyday

      @MiekoNeko i did it on monday, wednesday, and friday. On the 3rd month, i added some weight training. Also i increased the running speed each week.

    I have 3 kids and a full time job and I LOVE THIS!! I wake up at 5, get done by 5:30, shower and dressed by 6 so I can get kiddos up and ready for school!! If my fata$$ can do this you can too!!

    Just finished the workout. I’m drenched in sweat. I’m a beginner my max was 6 mph! I was surprised that I could go so fast. I’ll be doing this workout 3 times a week.

    I did this and got up to 10.5mph with a 3 degree incline, thought my legs were going to give out but I’m gonna keep doing it! And try to improve! Bye bye belly fat

      Coming from a distance runner, intervals on a treadmill make it less of a grind and can be very challenging as the speed and incline do not vary!

    I used to do HIIT on the treadmill and I lost 16 lbs (I didn’t need to lose a lot) and toned up pretty good. Stopped for awhile and now I’m back on the treadmill to get ready for summer :) Just did a HIIT today and I can already see my legs becoming more toned! These workouts also make the time go faster for me LOL

      @@AbundantYou did the workout outdoors today made a timer on my phone and hit the trail not sure if I ran as fast as I did on the treadmill but definitely still a great workout (tip for anyone creating timer make 30 sec sprints 33 secs so you have account for take off delay.)

      graffix21 haven’t been on here for in while but the tip was for outdoor running. 33 secs to account for picking up to faster speed. I think that is what you were talking about in your comment.

      You can also do this type of workout outside on a trail. During the recovery periods you can just walk.

      im sprinter and I sprint only 100 and I barely sprint 150 meter like I can sprint only 19 18 second full out maybe 10 30 second I should be at least 230 240 mark

    This workout is a game changer , After 3 days doing this I can see little results how much fat on my body I’ve lost. I literally melting off fat like butter. And I try every other workout and diet nothing worked until I came across the video!

    Absolutely love doing this and the elliptical workouts. It's great that they're not specifically geared towards a certain fitness level which means I can continue to use them from where I am now (absolute beginner!!) right through to my goal fitness just by increasing the speed and incline.     Omg! Did THIS TODAY AND I LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT! My 1st treadmill workout, 1st HIIT workout! Since I’m a newby to the treadmill my run was at 8, I walked at 2 for the 90 min rest. This was amazing! Will do this every other day.

      Well I love this workout because its short but intense. I just turned 60 and need to keep fit 💪. Burned 200 calories in a short time and my heartbeat was between 160 up to 173. 👌

    I am not a fan of the treadmill AT ALL! I get bored easily and have a hard time pushing myself.     This HIIT treadmill workout has given me soo much confidence in my running skills, and I can’t thank you enough. I do this for 25 mins, and everyone week had a goal in amount of 2 months I have succeeded in 12mph for 45 secs, and 90 sec walk down to 3.0 mph and it given me a good sweat and always going back to work happy after that shower and back for the rest of the day. Great demonstration!

    Thank you so much for this workout! Where I live it isn’t safe to run outside so I have been looking for ways to make the treadmill less boring and more fun. My treadmill only goes to 10 mph so I maxed out at 10 mph with an 8 degree incline. Super challenging, got a good sweat and it was fun! Thanks again.

    I came back to this after my Long Covid finally calmed down after 3 years.
    I started up slow from the peak I'd been prior to 2020, and I agonized over the exercises I would have considered warmups before.
    But as of October 2023, I felt my cardio/resp get better - enough to try jogging. Then by December, I jogged mostly.
    I came back to your videos after 3 years, and you're just as motivating as before- and now, you feel like I'm coming back to a long lost friend, who clapped me on the back and gave me a welcome as wholesome as a hug.
    Thank you, Dr Kevin. Thank you for making this HIIT series. For kicking my ass three years ago, and then encouraging me back to my old self this year.

    I'll get back to sprinting 8.0s. I'll get back to inclining those 8s. But while I work to it, you're the trainer I'm watching.

    Loved this workout! I walked constantly on my treadmill yesterday for 50 minutes and didn’t feel I got as much out of it as I did today doing it this way. This is much more motivational for me because of the rest periods. My husband is going to do it too now. We each need to lose about 10 kilos by December but want to do it slowly. Thanks so much!!     I have to confess I wasn’t that confident would work for me. I eat healthy and I do exercises everyday. I started last week. 3 times as recommended and I lost 5 pounds!!! Keeping my healthy habits! Thanks a lot! Do it!

    started doing this workout a week ago and i LOVE it. before i found this i would try and run for 15-20 minutes straight at a low-med speed but would be exhausted afterwards. this workout may not be easy, but it’s much more easier than just trying to run for 20 min straight AND i’m burning A LOT more calories than before. ty Dr. Kevin!

    Dr. Kevin, 2 words THANK YOU. I used to run competivly and got sidelined by life and lupus. I am finally healthy enough to return to the gym. I wanted to work my legs today but doubted if I would be strong enough to walk let alone run. With your hiit workout I was able to go from walking to 6.5 mph. I can't remember the last time I came close to running. Will be repeating this treadmill work out.

    Update: I increased incline to 4 and a 7 at the end. My max speed was 7.6 and my heart rate max was 159. I was definitely sweaty! I’m 47 so I should be in the 170 range. I can hit the 180s doing spin. I’m happy and will continue working on it. Thanks for your vids! Monique

    For anyone looking for a seriously good workout once you're used to this, I find it helpful to have 60 second intervals instead of 30. Alternatively you can keep up a 30 second interval and shroten your break period to 60 seconds if that's more comfortable for you.
    Great video, this really helps me prepare for my military fitness tests, I greatly appreciate it.

    I love your version since you put the music on the parts where we run. I looooove running but my cheap $150 treadmill went kaput when I ran on the highest speed with it. I've been running outside but with the lifted sidewalks around my area and nearly breaking my bony ass it's back inside the gym for me LOL. I love HIIT

    These are now my favorite workouts!!!! I usually do the 30min one, but had a time crunch today! This one allowed me to not only get my workout in, but to ramp up my speed and incline , Dr. Kevin, your the Best!
