4:45 OH SHIT, years later it became a song!
Noah Price ECTOGENESIS!!
As he tunes his eight string to an E instead of F#, you could say he Toss in A bass e..
'Cept his name is pronounced 'tow-zeen' not 'toss-in' but i get where you come from, props for thinking it up, quite inventive haha
COMMENT OF THE YEAR.
InChant Acoustic good job you are now only HALF a buzz kill lol
Zing!
Still funny 5 years later.
He played Ectogenesis 4:52 years before Madness of Many!?! 😱😎
Wow, you're right, I can only wonder how many ideas he has and have yet to materialize
He also played a lot of "Joy Of Motion" riffs 2 years prior to the album's release.
bro! i just noticed that too, hes mentioned that alot of his songs come from ideas he uses to practice technique
Really like this guy.One of the few unique players out there.
For anyone curious...
0:00 and 4:23 The Price of Everything and the Value of Nothing
1:09 Modern Meat
1:54 Cylindrical Sea
2:37 Inamorata
5:41 Tempting Time
4:50 ectogenesis
5:19 kaskade
I was listening to Ectogenesis off The Madness Of Many and the main riff seemed really familiar to me. That's because it's the same riff played at 4:50, slowed down. Between that and Ka$cade, really awesome to see those riffs as mere ideas and pieces to the puzzle.
This guy is a genius. The chords and voicing he uses are stunning and what he does is so new sounding. He's a great teacher too as seen in other videos. Animals as Leaders may not be to everyone's taste but you can't deny his talent and creativity.
LOL "It's pretty magical" *smiles*
his face on the way out, he was B L A Z E D
(no, just lookedit)
He has such a unique way of playing and blending styles, an absolute pioneer!
I like when big companies actually respond to small UA-cam questions. It shows they care. Go DiMarzio!
Thanks for the advice Mr. DiMarzio. Definitely getting the bridge and neck of these once they're available in Europe.
Beautiful guitar and P ups the back of that neck- WOW Awesome!
very nice distorsion and clean too
This guy is a badass awesome talented innovator!
one of the nicest Ibanez guitars I´ve ever seen. Great sound al look
Wow.. such a beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I want it.
Yes. The JVM has enough gain to work well with this setup. Both pickups should be F-spaced for your guitar.
His playing is fucking amazing! I’m utterly amazed every time I see him play!
The amount of raw skill that Tosin has is just astounding...given his age, I'd say he's easily one of the most advanced guitarists on the planet.
sounds awesome Larry. And in the hands of Tosin it speaks loud.
They sound absolutely beautiful.
Hi,
Thanks for asking. We're planning a release late this fall.
All the best,
Larry DiMarzio
Awesome sound!
i'm so glad he's using your pickups, simply the best in my opinion =)
ooooh that tone sounds beautiful! O_o
that guitar is amazing!!!! and that tone is awesome!!!!
Amazing sound!
Absolutely beautiful.
His tapping is absolutely perfect. Good tone plus great musicianship = great sound
This guitar is really nice. The look and the sound thanks to the pickups, really nice on the whole.
Hi, The guitar in the video has a matte finish on a maple top with a transparent grey coloring. I'm not sure what the final version will be but the one I photographed looked great.
Hope that helps,
Larry DiMarzio
Nice! Tosin is using Dimarzio. Amazing!
Some real classy chords there!
yes!!! it's about time tosin's making his own signature model. Can't wait to tryout these pickups! When will the guitar come into production? Will it be just like the prototype? awesome vid!! keep it up DiMarzio!!!
his pinky can rotate like 180 degrees and his thumb can bend like 90 degrees, wtf
Nano machines son!
Awesome, exited!
Great to hear that! I hope we get them in India soon
Love that riff at 6:18, from Re-Inanimate/Paradoxical Spiral/Entrapment. Good to return to your roots. This guitar offers so much for an 8-string. I love my RGA8; but stock, it's relatively limited (without external tweaking) in what it can do. Looking forward to hearing more things played on this guitar.
This by far the BEST presentation that DiMarzio had for their pickups! Hat's down for Mr.Abasi and DiMarizo!
The tone in that guitar is SO damn good!
Hi, Thanks for asking, we are releasing them mid January (for the NAMM show) and they will probably be available on line by Feb 1st. If you don't find them easily please call 800 221 6468 and ask for Stephanie and I will make sure that you can get whatever you would like.
Happy Holidays,
Larry DiMarzio
these pick ups sound really nice in my opinion
I can't believe I got to see Tosin live in Philly. I got to meet up with him after the show and got a picture with him, he sounds exactly like he does in video.
My car was towed by the gubament so I had to wait around for my friend to pick me up and I caught Tosin packing up his van and I told him about my situation and wished me the best. He also said my boots were cool.
Best Valentine's Day. Ever.
YES TOSIN!! rockin' the top fade :D
These pickups sound perfect for Tosin; they sound absolutely incredible. I can't wait to see what kind of awesomeness Tosin uses them to unleash on their next release
amazing artist!
It sounds amazing.
I am a bass player and songwriter and I have tried the classic guitars and I have to say that Ibanez instruments not only look amazing but they feel incredible, I have 2 basses and 1 six string and I love them. I also made a custom bass, and I immediately bought Dimarzio pickups and never looked back. Absolutely love the sound.
This guitar is one of the most beautiful sounding things I have ever heard.
I'm always in awe with Tosin's cleans, though I don't dig his high gain tone much- guess I'll have to wait for someone with a traditional amp to give it them a test run before I decide about switching out the D-act 8's.
Massive props to DiM for increasing the 8 string pup choices btw
definitely my favorite guitarist at the moment, I still have a hard time believing I saw this musical god live
Tosin and Larry covering all the bases yes good
HI, Me too.
All the best,
Larry DiMarzio
Hi Larry, just wanted to know if it's there any possibility to post in the Dimarzio's website the wiring of this guitar please?. Plus, could you recommend me a very versatile H-S-S pickups combo for my Ibanez RG 560?
Thanks for doing awesome products ;)
That guitar is a tone beast. Wow.
that guitar looks amazing.
Great innovation.
Can you use these at an angle on a multiscale fan fret? Considering adding to a Harley Benton R-485mn.
dimarzio did it again! hopefully it easily becomes available here in the philippines (hopefully the local distributor - Audiophile Comp. - contacts you quick! more power! =)
agreed, he really shows the full beauty guitar has to offer
Just got an ivory rg8 yesterday and I'm about to get these pickups and shred some techdeath :D
Great! Thanks for the reply! I'm a long time DiMarzio player and am looking for options for an upcoming crop of custom built guitars (a 6, 7, and 8 string) and would love them to all have the same pickups but there's not too many options that fit the bill. These seem like a great option if you guys expand the line. Thanks again, for the reply and for all the great pickups over the years.
This guy has skills he hasn't discovered yet, very impressive. With the super high gain amps we have, high gain pickups are not needed. Were not trying to smack the front end of the amp. The amp does that now. I can back off my picking to clean it up & hit harder for punctuation I try to steer my customers towards the Air neck pickups. DiMarzio has a huge selection
That guitar is beautiful
Sounds so gr8!
love the username bro!
6:15Haha, he knows his Meshuggah -> The Paradoxical Spiral
yea love that song!
+Yannick Yes dude! Tosin said it was Meshuggah that got him into playing 8 string guitars.
That tone. Tasty af.
@LarryDiMarzio Would it be easier to make a comparison between 6-string pickups and these if the guitar in question was a baritone guitar? And, in that case, what would be the most similar pickups to these for a baritone?
Hey Larry, any chance of a 7 string Gravity Storm set?
Ahh, damn that intro's relaxing :))))
Loving the happy comments on this video
Other videos just hate on everything cus its not drop tuned to q
Nice to see appreciation on talent
Hi, Thanks for asking. Ionizer 7s are in work now and will be available this fall.
All the best,
Larry DiMarzio
Hi, That isn't true, we cycle orders and can usually ship standard color pickups in one or two days. Who did you try to order from?
Thanks,
Larry DiMarzio
Nice to see/hear that Tosin does some Meshuggah to show the "high-gain stuff" at the end :)
that guitar is amazing!!!!
I'm wondering about the types of picks he uses. Maybe it contributes to the cool tone he gets when strumming chords? I'm thinking pretty light gauge picks. Maybe.
I like the intro riff in this video
Wow this is one of the few Ibanez's where i actually like the sound of EVERY position of the five-way switch! Great job on this one! Are there going to be 7-string Ionizers as well? I would sure PICK those UP (haha.. get it?)
Great to see Tosin get his own signature pick up.
I want this guitar!!
That would be amazing!!!!!
Hi, It's the pickup coil wiring that you are hearing. You can find the diagrams on the DiMarzio website. Go to Pickups>8 String>Ionizer and it's in Download Installation Instructions on Ionizer page.
Hope that helps,
Larry DiMarzio
Hi Mr. DiMarzio, i have an Ibanez RG 1527 with a Tone Zone in the bridge & a Liquifire in the neck, and i dig them both. But sometimes i feel that the Tone Zone isn't exactly the right choice for a bridge pick up, at least for myself (I fool around with anything) clean passages and straight up high gain. This pick up seems to me like it would be a better fit. So my question to you is any chance of seeing an Ionizer 7 string version in the future, or do you have another recombination for me? TY
Any chance of offering a bridge pickup that's something of a halfway point between the ionizer bridge and the D activator 8 bridge? I really like what I'm hearing from the ionizer neck, but I'm a little on the fence about the bridge pickup here.
Hey Larry, just a question. For these kind of out of phase single coil sound, what kind of wiring should we perform to achieve it? I do not have a center coil on my instruments, but I feel like going for an out of phase sound is more effective in cleans than just having a coil split.
this is honestly unfair lol he has every tone you could want
TheGearFiles He does like mamy genres hahaha. I would like pickups like this is all my electrics hahaha. So many electric pickups have such bad cleans hahaha amd then you have to heavy eqing work to make them sound decent cough like metallica's clean tones haha.
SOUNDS GREAT
hey Larry. Can you tell me what humbucker sounds most like a warm single coil when split? Looking for a neck pup and mostly use the split sound. I also like a fat warm humbucker sound. Use a tone zone in bridge. Thoughts?
Sweet. I just bought a new Mayones and i was wondering when my favorite Magnet wizard's would come up with something awesome to solder into it. Abasi is a monster, good choice partnering with him.
That guitar looks gorgeous, especially the wenge/bubinga neck ! I just wonder if it wouldn’t nose-dive a lot due to the heavy neck and the light swamp ash body though ? The sound of those ionizer pickups seems really nice especially the neck pickup.
I have the same kind of weird picking style as Tosin.I really like those pickups clarity.
It won't go any muddy sound out of them.He tunes three low strings to bass notes?
I think?Anyway almost impossible that all the notes are clear and musical.
You have nailed it.
Hey Larry, is there a chance you'll be making a 6 string version of the Ionizers? I've got a baritone with really hot pickups and I've been looking for something like these to put in it. If not what would be the closest thing to these in a 6 string format? Thanks.
It's impossible to know if a pickup will be too bassy until you try it, but the combination that might be best to try first in your guitar is an Ionizer neck pickup and a D Activator 8 bridge pickup.
I hope these pickups one day get released in six string versions. I personally don't like the 8 string feel but I could definitely do jazz and blues some justice with these on a six string. Make it happen Larry! :D
that pick guard is beautiful.
what humbuckers by dimarzio besides the ionizers that has a lower output
The D Activator 7 bridge model is a little similar to the Ionizer bridge model, but there is no 7-string neck model with much resemblance to the Ionizer neck pickup.
Hi Mr. DiMarzio, i have an Ibanez RG7321 with stock pickups that i'm not satisfied with and i'm looking for a bridge pickup mainly for "djent", i was wondering if any of your pickups is comparable to a Lundgren M7 that Meshuggah and Vildhjarta uses because the Lundgren is very expensive.
There are currently no 7-string models that sound exactly like the Ionizers. The Evoluion 7 has some similarities to the Ionizer bridge model and the LiquiFire 7 to the Ionizer neck model.
