@@RC-rg3vzNO! That is not nearly true. When a child is abused you do not simp out! You report abuse again & again to every known agency and anyone who would be considered culpable until the abuse is completely resolved even if it inconveniences your life and make you a single caretaker.
I suspect this is another case of authorities in charge of protecting children from abuse not doing their job. Sometimes, it's because of excessive workloads and inadequate funding. Sometimes, it's because of CPS workers shirking their responsibility. But remember, too, that children removed from abusive parents often end up in foster homes that are equally bad for the kids. The entire system needs reform, but finding good foster homes is challenging.
From the outside looking in, clean home, roof over their head and there are to many “other” cases. I’m not saying it’s ok but just how they will excuse themselves from it.

This should surprise NO ONE. You could tell this woman was abusive from her UA-cam videos. Her children were not having a good time while she laughed at them for their grievances with her. She made light of Taking a teen boys room not allowing her children privacy, not dropping her children’s forgotten lunch off at school etc to “teach lessons”. She turned those comments off because people were calling her out. I hope her children are ok😢

I understand strict parenting, my parents were also strict but I never had a bed taken away from me, never had to starve because I made a little mistake, they never taped me up this is ridiculous. I used to watch her yrs ago and thought she’s just a white mom and it’s just another family channel, these discipline tips and tricks will put you in a nursing home or worse 6ft under depending how bad the child’s mental health becomes. There’s a big difference between discipline and straight up abuse. Also not everyone’s perfect especially kids so if u want the “perfect life” with “perfect well behaved children” just stick to perfecting ur life ur not ready for children if u think there gonna turn out how u want them too. Right? Some people become so abusive to their kids (thinking they're just strict), not even realizing how hard that's going to come back to them. That will definitely guarantee their ticket to the worst nursing home, with bully mean nurses, no visitors, and mental disorders that most old people get (dementia, parkinsons, alzheimers). People really don't realize how that treatment will come right back to you.

I think many of us who come from toxic families with abusers see examples online of what healthy looks like and think, "this is not ok" but are confused as to what to do about it as kids. These kids were so BRAVE!!

Essentially for years she’s been vlogging her children and her parenting style, and a good bit of it was cruel and unusual for typical child behaviors. She wasn’t too bad in the beginning, but it got worse and worse over the years until she joined Connections where she ultimately turned into a monster. Things like her youngest daughter in pre-k forgot to make and pack her lunch, so her mom made her go without lunch even though the teacher called her to ask if she would bring something. She told them she wouldn’t and to not give her anything because that’s the only way she will learn. On another instance one of her younger children got sick from eating too much food, so she blamed one of the older children who wasn’t even in the room for giving him too much to eat. She also sent her oldest son to a “wilderness camp” to “become a better man” because he kept acting out, but all she ever said was that he got bad grades in school and would tease his younger siblings. He also lost his room and his bed for something like 6 months? So he had to sleep on the beanbag chair in the family room if I remember correctly? It got to the point that every single video that was posted she was punishing one of her children for something and it escalated every single video. She was also pushing her children into disclosing personal topics for the internet. They were clearly uncomfortable, but in the beginning she went from saying things like “this is normal everyone goes through it, there’s no need to be embarrassed” to “well this is part of your punishment” or “people need to know” Some people even have some of the videos she did for connections on UA-cam and they’re honestly horrific

This is horrific 😔. I refuse to watch “family UA-cam” channels due to the possibility of child exploitation. We don’t know what they do to get these kids to perform on-camera, how it may effect them in the future, and even how their profits will be used. The laws need to change.
Why did it take this long for someone to stop her?? UA-cam journalists were making videos about her abusing her kids several months ago...and no one did anything? Thank God she is finally in custody. I pray for safety and healing for those children.
Sounds like the women who were pretending to be so wise about child rearing and relationships are the worst possible people to be taking advice from. If these women have been guilty of abusing children, as is alleged, they are sick and deserve to be in jail. I hope they can be placed with relatives who are more caring, not thrown into the foster care system. The problem finding appropriate foster homes for abused children has been getting worse. Foster homes are in short supply and too often foster families turn out to be unhealthy for those children as well. Look at what's happened to many of the children from the infamous Turpin family in California, where the social services failed miserably and many of those children were placed in horrible situations after being "rescued" from warped, abusive parents.
That's not true, not all fosters are bad. There are a lot of good foster people out there just because there's one rotten apple in the bunch doesn't mean they all are.🤦♀️

I've read about foster care systems across the country with a lack of foster families available, the poor foster parents that frequently get into the system, the inadequate compensation given to foster parents, and the poor oversight by agencies responsible for monitoring. It's not just "one rotten apple". You obviously don't know much about it. I emphasized the difficulty of finding foster care homes, but the whole system is problematic.

It's the Utah police system that let them fail. The siblings and eldest daughter all filed reports. Even neighbors of Ruby and Jodi called police and nothing happened. It took this long and starving children for justice to take hold. Utah favors parental rights, especially white Mormons.
It's a community called "kayenta" it's designed to blend in. There are 1000s of homes there, but the landscape is all natural desert. All of them are upscale architecture. Definitely not a secluded neighborhood. Lots of traffic through those neighborhoods.

What could explain the CPS not picking up on it? Maybe the influence of church culture in the systems in that area. This family seemed all okay to some extent to psychological child abuse. The sisters deviated from parenting content a bit when they received back lash on their channels. but they all showed their harsh parenting traits early on on their channels. Just by reading some of the comments here you can see that maybe part of rubys understanding of child upbringing and practices are culturally accepted among Mormons. The physical extent was what got them in trouble. What many don’t realize is that the psychological abuse has been damaging those kids in so many levels long before the physical that they got in trouble for.
I feels the same police, CPS and the father who was present at the house too even if he's not living there for the last years. What happen with him communicating with his children? Is not clear to me if he knew or not about the allegations in the mother abuse.
In my 72 years I’ve learned when a family is described as very religious they are more likely to be unusually cruel with huge control issues. The more controlling a person the more out of control their feelings of fear and low self trust. In fact, the more religious the person the more the Devil is in them. Notable exceptions acknowledged.
Agree! My husband and I got brainwashed into an ultra religious church and we saw how these people treated their children. They think the harder the discipline and control, the more points they get with God. They were proud of how they treated their kids! It was sickening. Thankful we got out and didn’t raise our kids in that way.
I used to work with a very religious man. His child was not allowed TV or the internet or any books except the Bible and encyclopaedias. His wife was not allowed to cut her hair or to wear trousers or to wear skirts above the ankle. I remember that the brother of a young woman in our office was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t have long to live, and my religious colleague told this woman, “Cancer is a punishment from God”. Which made her rather angry.

In this video that woman’s smug satisfaction at listening to her son say he hadn’t slept on a bed for months because she took it away and his seeming acceptance that that was ok gave me a chill. I’ve seen that look before. That’s just the tip of an iceberg.
Amazing. When my father and step mother took my bedroom door away when I was 14 I thought I was the only one who had to do everything in front of the whole house and family. People don't understand that the consequences of abuse last a lifetime for the victims. I'm nearly 50 years old and I still have trouble processing it all. Haven't seen my father since I was 17 and I finally got out.

Why don’t the authorities LISTEN when reports of abuse are made??? I tried to help a child who confided in me BUT social services sent him straight back to the lion’s den. It was another 5 years before his siblings found strength to speak out and dad finally arrested. Social services and the police are letting so many kids down.
They see kids as lesser beings; as mere extensions of their parents. Children's suffering isn't taken seriously by more people than you'd think. Children have very few rights, unfortunately. The cops are too busy shooting dogs and POC to intervene, while many social workers simply don't care.
Some people are extremely manipulative and put on a persona and just act dumbfounded if they are questioned about the abuse and then try to pass it off as the children are just going through a phase or have some form of mental illness. I wasn't abused but I have a parent who just preemptively trashes your whole character in advance or if you say anything and act like your just going through a phase or bring up mental illness. This was happening before I was even 10 and nothing I say to anyone they talk to is ever taken seriously even as an adult so I quit bothering. This happens to authorities and anyone they can speak to. Just casually trashing your entire character nonstop in advance.
The other issue is that they schedule the visit. I can tell you that parents threaten children about what not to say and you do exactly that because you don't want what's coming for you if you mess up in front of them. For many children the abuse is bad enough that they don't trust any adults because you learn that nobody is safe. you know that people know what's happening to you and nothing is done so you become helpless, a learned helplessness in your victimization. You just try to survive it. Maybe one day you get brave to do the thing you fear most, to rescue yourself. Those children are never going to be who they were born to be because the systematic abuse has forever changed their brains and who they are. It's horrific and I feel for them.

I don’t know anything about this case. It just popped up in my UA-cam feed. Where did he sleep if he didn’t have a room? I use to go many parenting classes where DA’s and police officers were invited to talk to parents about discipline. They would tell us spanking was fine as long as you used your hand and didn’t spank them anywhere other than their bum or thigh. They told us taking away a door for lack of privacy or a cell phone or clothing that is inappropriate for teens that were very rebellious and didn’t respond to regular discipline was sometimes the only way. This is in CA. Basically that we were required to feed, clothed and make sure basic needs were met but extras could be taken away if not earned. So when you hear this young man talk about his room being taken away it might not have raised red flags with some people. You might think tough love parenting. But obviously more was happening than what viewers were really able to note. And I agree that if the aunts or uncles knew what was happening, they should’ve been calling cps everyday and filing a report. And if they did and cps did nothing then shame on them. The children should sue because they were wronged not only by their parents but the system as well. I hope they can leave this all behind and flourish in their new homes. Does anyone know if family took them in or if they went into the foster care system?

Actually, it sounds like an extended family that did not really care about the children. Who did not want to be embarrassed or publicly humiliated. If complaining to CPI gets no results, you don't just give up. You demand an interview to explain your concerns, and you demand an explanation after they investigate. If They don't accomplish something, then you go to the Police and swear out a complaint. You don't give up and say, "Oh well, we tried."

her parenting style just breaks my heart.. i’m 17 with very loving parents so i don’t know much about having children and how to raise them, but what i do know is a bedroom/ safe space for a child to call their own and sleep in, as well as food is NOT a privilege, but what you OWE the lives you decide to bring into this world. a ps5 and toys are a privilege, not basic necessities. it’s so devastating these children will never be the same, but still thank god they made it out
I've been following along with this family for years, and I knew that Ruby is a horrible excuse of a parent and a cultist, but I never imagined this. It's like the Turpin case all over again. To say Ruby has plunged off into the deep end is a massive understatement... those poor kids have been through so much. They are all warriors. 40 years ago I listened daily to a small neighbor child being severely beaten and the mother cursing and berating her. The few times I saw her, she appeared pale and severely emaciated. When I called the juvenile authorities they said that they couldn't do anything about it, since I was the only call they got and no one else had informed them. Rules are rules, I was told, there must be at least two complaints. I always wondered what happened to the child. I fear she didn't survive long 😢

I suspect this is another case of authorities in charge of protecting children from abuse not doing their job. Sometimes, it's because of excessive workloads and inadequate funding. Sometimes, it's because of CPS workers shirking their responsibility. But remember, too, that children removed from abusive parents often end up in foster homes that are equally bad for the kids. The entire system needs reform, but finding good foster homes is challenging.
From the outside looking in, clean home, roof over their head and there are to many “other” cases. I’m not saying it’s ok but just how they will excuse themselves from it.
That whole area is suspect. There's entire border towns there that need to be bulldozed under.

This should surprise NO ONE. You could tell this woman was abusive from her UA-cam videos. Her children were not having a good time while she laughed at them for their grievances with her. She made light of Taking a teen boys room not allowing her children privacy, not dropping her children’s forgotten lunch off at school etc to “teach lessons”. I understand strict parenting, my parents were also strict but I never had a bed taken away from me, never had to starve because I made a little mistake, they never taped me up this is ridiculous. I used to watch her yrs ago and thought she’s just a white mom and it’s just another family channel, these discipline tips and tricks will put you in a nursing home or worse 6ft under depending how bad the child’s mental health becomes. There’s a big difference between discipline and straight up abuse. I think many of us who come from toxic families with abusers see examples online of what healthy looks like and think, "this is not ok" but are confused as to what to do about it as kids. These kids were so BRAVE!!

Essentially for years she’s been vlogging her children and her parenting style, and a good bit of it was cruel and unusual for typical child behaviors. She wasn’t too bad in the beginning, but it got worse and worse over the years until she joined Connections where she ultimately turned into a monster. Things like her youngest daughter in pre-k forgot to make and pack her lunch, so her mom made her go without lunch even though the teacher called her to ask if she would bring something. She told them she wouldn’t and to not give her anything because that’s the only way she will learn. On another instance one of her younger children got sick from eating too much food, so she blamed one of the older children who wasn’t even in the room for giving him too much to eat. She also sent her oldest son to a “wilderness camp” to “become a better man” because he kept acting out, but all she ever said was that he got bad grades in school and would tease his younger siblings. He also lost his room and his bed for something like 6 months? So he had to sleep on the beanbag chair in the family room if I remember correctly?
It got to the point that every single video that was posted she was punishing one of her children for something and it escalated every single video. She was also pushing her children into disclosing personal topics for the internet. They were clearly uncomfortable, but in the beginning she went from saying things like “this is normal everyone goes through it, there’s no need to be embarrassed” to “well this is part of your punishment” or “people need to know”
Some people even have some of the videos she did for connections on UA-cam and they’re honestly horrific

Sounds like the women who were pretending to be so wise about child rearing and relationships are the worst possible people to be taking advice from. If these women have been guilty of abusing children, as is alleged, they are sick and deserve to be in jail. I hope they can be placed with relatives who are more caring, not thrown into the foster care system. The problem finding appropriate foster homes for abused children has been getting worse. Foster homes are in short supply and too often foster families turn out to be unhealthy for those children as well. Look at what's happened to many of the children from the infamous Turpin family in California, where the social services failed miserably and many of those children were placed in horrible situations after being "rescued" from warped, abusive parents.

It's the Utah police system that let them fail. The siblings and eldest daughter all filed reports. Even neighbors of Ruby and Jodi called police and nothing happened. It took this long and starving children for justice to take hold. Utah favors parental rights, especially white Mormons.

It's a community called "kayenta" it's designed to blend in. There are 1000s of homes there, but the landscape is all natural desert. All of them are upscale architecture. Definitely not a secluded neighborhood. Lots of traffic through those neighborhoods.

What could explain the CPS not picking up on it? Maybe the influence of church culture in the systems in that area. This family seemed all okay to some extent to psychological child abuse. The sisters deviated from parenting content a bit when they received back lash on their channels. but they all showed their harsh parenting traits early on on their channels. Just by reading some of the comments here you can see that maybe part of rubys understanding of child upbringing and practices are culturally accepted among Mormons. The physical extent was what got them in trouble. What many don’t realize is that the psychological abuse has been damaging those kids in so many levels long before the physical that they got in trouble for.

In my 72 years I’ve learned when a family is described as very religious they are more likely to be unusually cruel with huge control issues. The more controlling a person the more out of control their feelings of fear and low self trust. In fact, the more religious the person the more the Devil is in them. Notable exceptions acknowledged.
Agree! My husband and I got brainwashed into an ultra religious church and we saw how these people treated their children. They think the harder the discipline and control, the more points they get with God. They were proud of how they treated their kids! It was sickening. Thankful we got out and didn’t raise our kids in that way.
I used to work with a very religious man. His child was not allowed TV or the internet or any books except the Bible and encyclopaedias. His wife was not allowed to cut her hair or to wear trousers or to wear skirts above the ankle. I remember that the brother of a young woman in our office was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t have long to live, and my religious colleague told this woman, “Cancer is a punishment from God”. Which made her rather angry.

Why don’t the authorities LISTEN when reports of abuse are made??? I tried to help a child who confided in me BUT social services sent him straight back to the lion’s den. It was another 5 years before his siblings found strength to speak out and dad finally arrested. Social services and the police are letting so many kids down.
They see kids as lesser beings; as mere extensions of their parents. Children's suffering isn't taken seriously by more people than you'd think. Children have very few rights, unfortunately. The cops are too busy shooting dogs and POC to intervene, while many social workers simply don't care.
Some people are extremely manipulative and put on a persona and just act dumbfounded if they are questioned about the abuse and then try to pass it off as the children are just going through a phase or have some form of mental illness. I wasn't abused but I have a parent who just preemptively trashes your whole character in advance or if you say anything and act like your just going through a phase or bring up mental illness. This was happening before I was even 10 and nothing I say to anyone they talk to is ever taken seriously even as an adult so I quit bothering. This happens to authorities and anyone they can speak to. Just casually trashing your entire character nonstop in advance.
The other issue is that they schedule the visit. I can tell you that parents threaten children about what not to say and you do exactly that because you don't want what's coming for you if you mess up in front of them. For many children the abuse is bad enough that they don't trust any adults because you learn that nobody is safe. you know that people know what's happening to you and nothing is done so you become helpless, a learned helplessness in your victimization. You just try to survive it. Maybe one day you get brave to do the thing you fear most, to rescue yourself. Those children are never going to be who they were born to be because the systematic abuse has forever changed their brains and who they are. It's horrific and I feel for them.

I use to go many parenting classes where DA’s and police officers were invited to talk to parents about discipline. They would tell us spanking was fine as long as you used your hand and didn’t spank them anywhere other than their bum or thigh. They told us taking away a door for lack of privacy or a cell phone or clothing that is inappropriate for teens that were very rebellious and didn’t respond to regular discipline was sometimes the only way. This is in CA. Basically that we were required to feed, clothed and make sure basic needs were met but extras could be taken away if not earned. So when you hear this young man talk about his room being taken away it might not have raised red flags with some people. You might think tough love parenting. But obviously more was happening than what viewers were really able to note. And I agree that if the aunts or uncles knew what was happening, they should’ve been calling cps everyday and filing a report. And if they did and cps did nothing then shame on them. The children should sue because they were wronged not only by their parents but the system as well. I hope they can leave this all behind and flourish in their new homes. Actually, it sounds like an extended family that did not really care about the children. Who did not want to be embarrassed or publicly humiliated. If complaining to CPI gets no results, you don't just give up. You demand an interview to explain your concerns, and you demand an explanation after they investigate. If They don't accomplish something, then you go to the Police and swear out a complaint. You don't give up and say, "Oh well, we tried."

I hope these kids are given the care they need and deserve. This makes me infuriated. With the signs and signals that so much was wrong…plus the fact that the neighbors had told the police about this MULTIPLE times…why tf did it take so much time. Regardless, I’m so relieved that this kid was able to get help. Duct tape??? Malnourished? Keep that woman in prison please, and far away from these kids.

her parenting style just breaks my heart.. i’m 17 with very loving parents so i don’t know much about having children and how to raise them, but what i do know is a bedroom/ safe space for a child to call their own and sleep in, as well as food is NOT a privilege, but what you OWE the lives you decide to bring into this world. a ps5 and toys are a privilege, not basic necessities. it’s so devastating these children will never be the same, but still thank god they made it out
I've been following along with this family for years, and I knew that Ruby is a horrible excuse of a parent and a cultist, but I never imagined this. It's like the Turpin case all over again. To say Ruby has plunged off into the deep end is a massive understatement... those poor kids have been through so much. They are all warriors. I hope they reconnect with their extended family and that they can heal, both physically and mentally.

40 years ago I listened daily to a small neighbor child being severely beaten and the mother cursing and berating her. The few times I saw her, she appeared pale and severely emaciated. When I called the juvenile authorities they said that they couldn't do anything about it, since I was the only call they got and no one else had informed them. Rules are rules, I was told, there must be at least two complaints.
I always wondered what happened to the child. I fear she didn't survive long 😢

She took custody of the kids he was fighting for them but the judge ruled in her favor she had the kids full time. The father was not able to see the kids or talk to them be of Ruby

Yeah, it's Utah. Father's rights are not really a thing here. It'd be very hard to find a judge that'd give custody to a father if the mother hasn't already been convicted of a serious crime.

I used to watch the channel way before it went downhill and when I saw the headlines, I immediately knew who those kids were. I'm so relieved that Russell and Evie could get out and these two evil women are now arrested! Hope that they can be with their other family!

When we report people like this lady nothing is done although YT displays a message saying they will check & see if video violates YT terms/agreements! This Report tells me that YT does not bother to check the reports or videos!!! Lots of child abuse in plain sight & many of us clicked on report many times & just choose to stop watching the abuse! TG for children sake it's now stopped!
And if the youngster didn't escape from the window, the kids would be in the midst of the same abuse with no one coming to their aid. Kudos to the young man!! He saved his siblings - no one else did.
