The stove brings back memories from my conscript days in Finland. It wasn't only once I heard some team burn their tent by an accident during a combat exercise. During winter though the stove was absolutely a lifesaver, if we managed to get it lit.
Definitely deep thoughts but well needed!!! It’s so very good to hear anyone on social media to say that we need to put it down and create more memories!!!
I spent 2 nights in the forest recently near the small river. Sky was full of stars,we looked at starfall , had some wine near the fire. We built small camp and had a best weekend. Who needs the phone when you have forests, mountains, tents, fire, rivers, lakes, friends, stars, sunsets... this is what we all remember when we get old. +TA Outdoors - high five to you sir, big up from eastern europe. You actually didn’t quit teaching. You keep teaching us .
You are spot on nothing wrong with speaking deep about the outdoors I done my first hot tent last week for 48 hours and its was absolutely beautiful and I'll never forget it Thanks for your videos ✌☮
Finally, someone on UA-cam who is actually using the lavvu the right way out! The arm flaps on the outside to keep the rain out, and the extra bit of material at the top of the cape on the inside, so the side of the tent exposed to rain has as few seams as possible. It should also be worn that way round. That extra bit of material that lies around your shoulders stops the outer canvas from wearing out and acts as extra warmth and a waterproof layer. Well done 👍 that man!!!
You're a terrific role model and inspiration for all generations. Family man, outdoors man and from what I can gather, an all around good man. Wish you continued success.
Ive been teaching my Son bush craft for a few years now. As I teach I show him links to your channel. He told me yesterday how much you and I have inspired him. Given he is only 13: that speaks volumes about your channel... Kudos IPA ;)
I must say I loved your little speech about getting off of social media and technology and building memories by getting out and about etc. I am a 58 year old man and getting out into the woods has always been the best memories of my life from a little boy through out the years til now. I have my grandparents to thank for that. You should feel good about recommending that to your viewers. God job.
Rounding the top of your tent pole. Nice job. I found a tennis ball works good as well! The round cut off you used as a plate. Would of work as a base for your tent pole! Stop it from sinking in on that wet ground! As all ways, Thanks for taking US along!!!
I appreciate your time and sharing knowledge.Tonight though, I appreciate mostly your comments on tuning out and being a doer..not a spectator as I like to say..good wisdom for a young guy.Thanks..
THAT IS A STOVE! Walk-in campers (short hikers) will LOVE this: no fiddly, almost aluminum foil chimney pieces; sturdy side shelves for warming dishes and staging meals. Super-light is 'better than nothing' but a real stove provides superior comfort and performance. I am adding this stove to my favorites. I went straight to the maker's site and learned it has a matching oven option! I am guessing this will be a candidate for heating the Pallet Palace. Your philosophy is not a rant: it is 'spot on.' My lifetime relationship with my six-years younger brother was born when I took him camping. He was a youth and I was a teen...and another brother treated him like an unwelcome 'tag-along.' We had many fine camps later in life when he joined my family on state park/national forest trips. Happy Holidays to you and my 'favorite do-it-yourselfer!'
James Ellsworth yep it sure is one hell of a stove! So much better than I ever thought. Life is all about outdoor experiences and kids these days need to get out more
Dude. By promoting the camp-tent stove design, that Norwegian engineering feat of superb design, my God, you've shown so many strangers and people around the world the benefits of owning a stove like this one. I'm likewise impressed by how compact and well-designed yet efficient, it is. Very slick.
Awesome video. I know what it is like to camp in the woods in England, lived there for three years when I was a young lad. Went to school in Stratton 2,3 and 4th. Was in the scouts with my uncle john, winter camping, summer camping what an experience I will never forget. I now camp winter summer in the Rockies of Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. Here you always got to be on the lookout big game wildlife, firearms are a must, lions, bears, wolves. Love your videos, keep them coming.
You could use a small piece of welders blanket to place between the canvas und flu protector. This will probably be sufficient enough. Just a thought. Good video, thanks! Billy
I was fortunate to grow up a tom girl. Came across your channel a few months ago and you and your father have renewed my spirit to get back into the woods. I've been practicing all of the bush craft skills I have been learning and through our Department of Natural Resources have found a local state park that allows bush crafting. Totally agree with your comments on social media, I was born in the 1940s and had a great childhood, playing in the woods, building camps, tree camps, underground camps, climbing trees, we couldn't wait to get out with our mates, out all day till we were called in.
I'm not convinced that CO (carbon monoxide) is a serious concern with a wood burning stove that has a flue to the outside. CO may be odorless but it is never going to be the only gas present in the wood fumes and you can smell those. I think the reason that CO is a concern with gas or alcohol stoves is that, since they don't produce copious quantities of smoke, we are much more likely to be careless about ventilation. Still - better safe than sorry. Keep up the good work, Mike. Can we expect a night in the TA Pallets (palace of pallets) soon?
There is a massive amount of misinformation about carbon monoxide and stoves. Some folks cannot read or watch about a wood or other stove without warning the user about its dangers. There are many reasons that folks succumb using stoves in small places and carbon monoxide is but one.
CO will form if the stove cannot get enough fresh air to burn the wood with. CO is a byproduct of combustion - CO2 is the main product, but if O2 is restricted more CO will form. Nothing to do with the type of wood being burned. Yeah, the fumes go outside because the flue terminates outside, BUT if the oxygen to the stove (coming in through the tent door and then in to the stove through the front grill) is RESTRICTED, then the flue can reverse (believe it or not) . Think of it like this, for gas/volume to go up and OUT via the flue, gas/volume has to come IN to the tent, otherwise there would be a vacuum. This is why the flue will stop evacuating the fumes if air cannot come in to the tent. SO if he hypothetically shut all doors/vents in the tent and sealed it airtight, the combustion process would go more and more "wrong", masses of CO would form AND the flue could reverse. We now have a suicide tent. Generally, sleeping in the same room as an open flued appliance such as this is a bad idea, and installing one in a bedroom has been illegal in the UK since the mid 80s I think. Look it's out in the woods and it's a small kilowatt appliance BUT I'd defo keep the CO alarm he uses in the video
Boy tht same exact scene for myself is calling me,just like tht laid up reading a book and relaxin in the woods with a Guinness and a fire. Good times, thanks for the vid Sir cheers!!

I feel you on the social media thing, im 23 and everyone around me is on it so much. I hate it, but youtube doesnt count lol. Thanks for all the videos and stuff man. From texas USA
really makes me want to go camping...god i miss living up north, nothing but sweaty humidity here in the southern USA, people say theyre going camping here but what they actually do is tow a large expensive air conditioner with a built in couch and TV to the lake for the weekend and pretend theyre enjoying the outdoors by taking pictures through the window
Amazing videos my friends and I are 21 and finally out of college we where looking for something to do on the weekends and have always been into the outdoors hunting, fishing, trapping, and hiking your videos have inspired the 4 of us to save up and we how own 20 Acres of woods that we spend most weekend hanging out and making a small group homestead.

Just found your site, great video, had to keep watching. I noticed you had the same problem that I do when splitting smaller pieces. They tip over. A friend showed me a finger friendly tip. Use a piece of wood as a finger extender and use it to hold down the top of the piece you wish to split. Then split with your fingers safely away. Keep up the great work.

Where about down south are you based? I’m from Gosport originally and know the south coast well. Now living on the west coast of Scotland 11years.. bushcraft heaven 😀👍🏻🍺
I like this survivor / outdoorsman larping channel idea.... it’s like check out all these products I can use to camp one evening in the woods while I video each step and talk to the camera about how much I spent on every product and how well they work, it’s a interesting choice in a hobby had to take a while to plan on the 40 different things to take with you for the evening
Its unreal its like your camping in another country...up north youd be lucky to find any dry wood during the autumn/winter/spring and in most woods n forests the floors are wet through or at the very least damp lmao
I've gotta check that stove out! I live in Ohio across the pond here & we get our share of cold & snow! But winter is my favorite season to go out & camp, hunt, bushcraft

I like the look of that stove. All welded too - no rivets to pop. Hopefully this stove lasts a long time. Looks very well made.
Yeh I was impressed with the welding and general build quality of it
Great video and great points about memories. All life is a collection of them and they are what matters. Thank you!
Damm, I am going away at 3am tomorrow morning and was about get my head down early to get plenty of sleep, then your vid popped up.
So staying awake longer as I cannot resist watching it asap.
Have a great Xmas mate.

So true what you saying media takes over your lives turn off every now and then cheers 😂
I feel you on the social media thing, im 23 and everyone around me is on it so much. I hate it, but youtube doesnt count lol. Thanks for all the videos and stuff man. From texas USA
William Murphy youtube is king! Glad you like the vids mate
Fellow Texan! Hello!
Checking for widow makers was a good piece of advice. Easy thing to forget.
really makes me want to go camping...god i miss living up north, nothing but sweaty humidity here in the southern USA, people say theyre going camping here but what they actually do is tow a large expensive air conditioner with a built in couch and TV to the lake for the weekend and pretend theyre enjoying the outdoors by taking pictures through the window
Maybe the rich.or the yuppies.
Whatta deal! Good info, with reviews along the way, and thru the eve,; camp prep; fuel and FOOD!
I'll see you in the Winter camp vid next! Thanks!

Love it...keep it up from California sitting in my new Tiffin RV 32'...made me feel like I was back in the service again back in 86'
that meal you made looked amazing..great video !
You made such a great point, take a break from social media. Go to the woods camping, fishing, boating.
Amen!
Don’t forget to film it all so you can put it on social media.................. kind of negates the point when he’s that guy.
Ryan Wilson At least he's inspiring others to get outdoors
PyreGnome Ay
By being on the internet.
Thats some good advice. Thanks man
Great chat man..thanks for sharing and a Merry Christmas from Canada!
TheBluenoser76 Merry Christmas from England!
Loved your talk at the end of the video, You're (obviously) completely right. Get off your phone and simply enjoy nature!

Living in the Canadian Rockies... this is a typical weekend... bliss
hello ta outdoors i have just found you and so worth watching well done fella im going to be tuning in now on a regular basis
Tortillas the bread you use for fajitas brother!!
"Opened a can of Man-the-hell-up!" I laughed so hard, gonna use that.
