    I own a law enforcement and civilian training company based out of northern New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide as much training and knowledge transfer to civilians At affordable prices. All of my instructors are certified police instructors in multiple states and we believe civilians should have the same type of training and knowledge as military and law enforcement. If you're interested I would love to have you come up to some of my classes.

    NJ resident got my permit this week. Took about 3 weeks from submission. One thing I noticed on all of the police correspondence there’s boiler plate instructions on the restrictions of carrying while consuming alcohol or cannabis. It also referenced how you have to carry by code, but not the actual regulations or a link. No mention of sensitive places or where you can/can’t carry.
    Side note a month prior I had submitted for handgun purchase permits and they didn’t get issued until after my concealed permit- I think it’s because I didn’t have a digital FID I still have a paper one.

    Thanks for the discussion. I can’t carry every day as I work in a sensitive area but I do carry every day off. I just left my FFL, we had a discussion about hollow point rounds, I was under the impression that they couldn’t be carried in the gun but could be carried outside of the gun. He adamantly disagreed. I subscribe to their Magazine and spoke with a spokesperson who was e-mailing me constantly. He said they are suing NJ as we are the only state to bar joining. The state issue is the association provides money and legal help in a justified incident. As you probably know is if you pull the trigger you will be arrested and jailed. J6 type treatment. We have no castle doctrine. They can break in and steal you blind. You cannot stop them unless they are armed and you have to retreat.
      The financial costs will bankrupt any normal person and jail time while you await trial will destroy your family. I train at my range and will apply but not carry until the state laws make sense. Have family in Idaho, when you carry and enter a bar you have to place your firearm on the bar. If not your are arrested and hauled to jail. Bro in law carries in Church with three other trained ccw persons to protect. A very different environment than NJ

    I agree that anyone that can, should go out and get a permit to carry. It's unfortunate that the people who probably need it the most probably can't afford it. Add to that cost of training, reliable accessories necessary to carry, safes, etc
    That said, the more demand there is for permits the more politicians will have to lean towards loosening restrictions

    What I hear is that the price is just so high for so many people.
    It's $200 + fingerprints + training + NICS + the fees to the state/town (beyond the two hundred) + the pistol + the pistol purchase permit + the NICS + the fees associated with state/town equals a very large price
    I carry in support of my rights. I think it's a shame how much NJ is charging their law abiding citizens, and service (time for NICS to come back and process the permits) is no better than it was before they inflated the price of my God given right.

    I am of the opinion that all capable gun owners should obtain their permit to conceal carry in NJ regardless if they plan to carry or not. The more people we have lawfully carrying (or even just holding the permit) the better. Those choosing not to get a carry permit will not care about the process, costs or restrictions and that leaves it up up to a smaller group of us to fight for our rights here in NJ.

    Hi Jay. I know you and I had some conversations in the past regarding this. Been looking into stores and their company policies. Target, CVS, and Walgreens to name a few have a company policy of no open or concealed carry in their stores. There is an article from USA Today which can be found online that lists many large chain stores “no guns” policies, although it’s from 2019. I believe that NJ legislators that enjoy creating gun laws need to require stores with these policies to clearly post it. You can be charged if you carry in a store if that is their policy even if it is not posted. I am trying to contact some of the chain stores I frequent and I would urge others to do the same and post it here.

That particular piece of paper says that one permit is good for all handguns owned by the person being issued that particular permit. Crystal clear right? Living in the “free” state of Florida, where we recently passed a permit-less concealed carry law, it’s difficult to grasp how carrying in a restrictive state like NJ is such a pain in the ass. Florida also has sensitive places, including bars and bar areas within restaurants, but it’s not as bad as NJ. So it gives me hope that people like you are leading the charge to change attitudes and to educate people about one of our most important and fundamental rights. There’s a reason our founding fathers made it the Second Amendment… Right after the most important First Amendment that recognizes our freedoms and civil rights. In most states, you cannot use deadly force to defend property, unless there is an imminent danger to your person or another of great bodily harm or death. And it’s never about trying to kill anyone… it’s about stopping a deadly threat, and if the perp happens to die, well then, he put the dime in the jukebox… knowing your state laws is key.

  • @daaaayoh
    @daaaayoh 5 місяців тому +3

    This is really a much more complicated decision than portrayed, because carrying is a huge responsibility. How much self-control and self-discipline do you have? How well do you understand all of the sensitive places BS and use-of-force law? The need for training goes well beyond firearm handling itself - you need to understand all of these legal concepts to avoid being charged with a felony while carrying. Examples follow. 1) If you can retreat to avoid a threat (other than at home), you must do so. NJ has no stand your ground laws. 2) You cannot legally respond to ordinary (non-deadly) force with deadly force. I always carry a pepper spray to deploy BEFORE the firearm if there is no threat of deadly force against me. 3) Sensitive places include a long list such as private property that is not open to the public (and you don't have permission to carry there), playgrounds and schools, entertainment facilities, any establishment that serves alcohol, a demonstration that would require a permit (whether it has one or not), hospitals. Be ready to study the laws!!! In the majority of situations, the odds of having a legitimate need for a firearm are so low that the odds of it CAUSING a serious problem may be higher than it SOLVING one.
