Disclaimer: F87 M2c owner and confirmation bias is a real thing. That out of the way - the G87 is just a design disaster to my eye. Looks like a Scion. No cohesiveness to any of it. The F87 set the bar pretty high - I don't think anyone doesn't think it's a gorgeous design. But this is a huge step backwards IMHO. The other massive problem this car has is the Jumbotron iDrive 8 Mongolian clusterfarkle perched on the dash. What an utter disaster. No more hard buttons for climate controls. Weird looking gauges from previous (brief) era look even stranger now, with no option for other looks, like simple round gauges. Why they don't offer this is beyond me - designers seem bent to make it look like a video game. Funkdat. And please, integrate the screens into the dash - don't merely take an older dash design that doesn't accommodate the massive curved screen and perch it on top. MAJOR design fail IMHO. As for building in Mexico, I'm not a fan at all. I don't care if the guy bolting on a fender is named Jose or Hans, but the factory at SLP is almost brand new - none of the line workers there have more than 2-3 years experience. The various suppliers have all set up shop in Mexico, and all of those plants are new too. And if I'm going to pay a metric buttload of cash for an M car, I want it built in the Fatherland. On principle.
NO way is the new M2 worth changing from the M240XD G42. The G42 is such a high value car. With just a few basic performance mods, its essentially a 1st gen GTR... The G42 has so much potential from the B58_V2, and as there are more aftermarket support for the G42 I believe in a couple years from now it will be revered as "THEE TUNERS CAR"... Super affordable, High Floor, Higher Ceiling, and with the basic upgrades(Lowered, Brakes, Intake, Downpipe, Exhaust, JB4/Dahler/Tune), add a carbon front splitter and Carbon rear spoiler which completely changes how the car looks. Add a few gallons of E85 and it will outperform an M3 Comp XD, with just $6K-$7k of upgrades... I had a G42 on hold after a client forfeited a great spec, during the 2 months I was waiting on the car, I did a lot of research on what mods I wanted, and grew emotionally attached to the car, Ive always been an underdog type and the G42 is a perfect starting point. My G42's arrival was delayed another month, and when my salesman called to let me know my car barely missed the transport ship and I had to wait on the next one, I said ok and told him to let me know if anything else comes available. A week later he called, and said bro you're never gonna believe this but I have this rich kid who specd out a badass G80 CompXD and he just found out he knocked up his girlfriend and his family is making him forfeit the car and marry the girl. Do you want to upgrade, I just emailed the spec sheet.... I agreed before I ever looked at the email, and the best part my G80 was already sitting on the showroom floor... Turns out the kid optioned it almost identical to what I would have built myself. So to all those wanting a G42 or M3/M4, call every BMW dealer in a 8 hour range from where you live, and talk to a salesman and make sure they know you are a serious buyer, and leave your contact info, the universe my part and shine a little luck on you... Forfeits are far more common than people think, so its def worth the time. OR.... You can pay a premium and buy a used one... I could not be happier with my G80. The thing I love most about it is how practical it is... It goes from Housewife to Stripper with a push of a button. One minute I can have my two kids comfortably in the back seat and groceries in its spacious trunk. The next minute I can be gapping C8 Vettes without a single modification(yet)... I just received my Dahler Tuning Module, and will install it next week when I get my Downpipes, Cross Pipe, Custom High Performance Exhaust, Intake, Heat Exchanger, & Spark plugs installed. Which will suffice until I get a full ECU unlock & Custom Tune by CES Motorsports(at which time Ill also install upgraded manifold+intercooler & flexfuel sensor)... You add in a few gallons of E85 and you have a 660-740WHP super car killer thats also the perfect daily driver... An ultimate Win/Win.. That said, I still want a G42... Ill be purchasing a second car next summer, and it will be a G42, because I plan to build it out. Its a great platform for street racing, and next summer should be enough time to have all the aftermarket support needed for the build & ECU tune.. There is no way I would "trade Up" for a G87 if I had a G42... That said, Im partial to AWD... Hopefully next summer there will be carbon fiber hoods, trunks, etc available for it too... Just a few pieces to reduce its weight a bit, which is why upgrading the brakes is a critical piece if you really plan to drive it hard... With regard to the looks of the G87, I dont mind the front end, which could easily be improved with a bit of carbon, but the rear-end is absolutely atrocious... Those side pieces that stick down looks like a cheap transformer toy... Im not sure if that can be improved with just a carbon spoiler like the G42 can be... Its great that we have a company like BMW who does produce great platforms, but this one needs a little fine tuning before they actually launch it..
This makes the M2 OG and even the M2C more collectible. It doesn’t even matter if they change the design for the better in 2024, because this is the last ICE year and 2022 was the last year Made in Germany… and as we all know, BMW owners of the M brand are a tough audience.
People say this for any controversial car- the previous gen will be more "collectible." untrue. S58 in this car will make up for anything else. 700hp with a downpipe and tune in an M2? No ones gonna complain
The square fuel filler flap FFS as well as the sudden obsession for using a ruler to design the bodywork. I certainly wont be jumping from my M2 LCI to this thing anytime soon for sure.
I like it how I like the font Comic Sans. A car to trigger everyone and it's memorable as my current M40i. I like to go back to my funny choice of a car.
Looks like it's missing the rear splitter too (exhaust is just floating)? With this added those protruding triangular ends of the bumper would tie together a bit better. Also yes, this color is doing the car zero favors. I think it would look great in the M240i Purple or black.
It looks designed to slap after market lips, skirts, diffusers to your liking. Most buyers do that anyways hopefully it will reflect on the sticker price and more cost effective.
The "dog bone" rear bumper ... Dog's breakfast more like it. I'm in Melbourne and we are being told we can view the car at our Motorclassica event this weekend, ahead of global launch. As an OG M2 owner, I'm hoping for big things.
The bright colors in the new m2 didn’t do this car Justice… it needs something dark.. like dark solid blue, black, dark red, the purple from the m240i, dark green (like Brewster green). Trust me, this will look insane with these colors!
It’s as if they keep building/designing what would otherwise be the perfect car, and then they say, “How can we f*** this up so people will talk about it?” - referring in this case to the front bottom panel/grill that looks disconnected from the rest of the body
What a pity!!. This design has nothing to do with former classic M models from BMW. Clasics like E46 Coupe.... never again !! where are M Sport Division designers??? No way I'd buy such a car!
I do like it although the weird proportions don't match the "oversimplified" look of the car... But with a decent front lip and rear diffuser I think this will look a lot better. Really the only thing I hate is that weird ass body line on the rear fender, it does not match at all. No wonder it doesn't have black fenders, because it would look atrocious with that body line.
I thought we were going to get away from those hideous grill triangles they put on the front of the normal 2 series but instead they coloured them in flipped them upside down and suck them on he bottom of the back..
Hi, Congrats for the work you are doing. Would you be interested to buy a video with the new Mercedes E Class on the street of Tenerife? It has about 2 minutes.
It looks unfinished to me especially in front. Front grill looks bad to me. I also don’t like the lower part of front. Need to see it in person and drive one.
I don't think this is the finished product. There's no side markers or anything...... I really think this was early in development. Or at least this car was built early in development.
Looks good from the side but the front and rear are awful . I would not pay 20k never mind 60k . If this is the final M2 then BMW you will never be forgiven for trashing a great Car .
I was looking to trade my m4 for a new car… Not anymore this looks absolutely terrible. I’ve never seen anything this ugly since the Aztec. This looks bad from every angle geez 🙄🤦♂️
Unfortunately BMW has designed another car we must buy in black because they cant be trusted with dividing the coloured and dark parts with any kind of emotive IQ..

That being said, what they (BMW) offer, we have to adapt to in time, we warmed up to the G80 front 😅
@@Gokrin Some may have warmed to the G80 grille - but I sure haven't, nor has anyone I know.
@@BrakRulesAll I have not yet fully recovered by the shock of gigantic front grille, either. 😅 here's another shock is coming....

I think the camouflage is the only guise I would order it in. It hides the design flaws beautifully!!!😂
That has to be a joke! The new M4 is hideous, but this is worse. Didn’t think it was possible.
It looks like a kit car.
I'm keeping my M2 CS forever. This is an absolute joke!
Keep that beast
Og m2 is the best looking to me.
This makes the M2 OG and even the M2C more collectible. It doesn’t even matter if they change the design for the better in 2024, because this is the last ICE year and 2022 was the last year Made in Germany… and as we all know, BMW owners of the M brand are a tough audience.

The touch-screen dash may be the deal-breaker for me.
Agreed. For M cars this is not appropriate.
wanna see it in person, dont know yet what to think of it
Yes, carbon bucket seats are an option to choose as an accessory for the car.
Ya I just saw that after the fact🤷🏼♂️ thanks!
This will make the old m2 more desirable

It looks designed to slap after market lips, skirts, diffusers to your liking. Most buyers do that anyways hopefully it will reflect on the sticker price and more cost effective.
M240i is better!
People will be looking for a OG.
The previous M2 was beautiful. That and the M3/M4 looked great.
The "dog bone" rear bumper ... Dog's breakfast more like it. I'm in Melbourne and we are being told we can view the car at our Motorclassica event this weekend, ahead of global launch. As an OG M2 owner, I'm hoping for big things.
It's like when a Chinese mans recreates a Bentley in his garage, then posts it on UA-cam
Do you have the tire/breaks/cooling package on your m240i?
i think it's overpriced
i upgraded my brakes after market for less than the manufacturer upgrade

worst BMW I have ever seen
May i am the only one but i like the car and also the Design a lot. I would be super happy to get it.
I think so lol. I’ll reserve my final judgement till I see it in person though.
That's because you work for BMW
bmw purists are not having it 😂😂😂
The back end looks awful. Actually the new 230i coupe looks better all the way around from photos.
When I saw the back I LOL'D so hard but confirmed to that this is fake... No way they'd released that...

What the fuck is wrong with BMW these days?
BMW should be embarrassed to market such a monstrosity.

Doesn’t look finished, I’m hoping this is a fake teaser from bmw m.
Sadly I think it is the final product based on the spotlight on the floor and detail rags in one of the slides.
i'll buy one because npc normies h8 it. its gonna be an insanely fast car with a based engine. cya in my rear view mirror nerds
color is so bad on the car, this car needs dark color
