    So sad about that three legged Belgian, I fell for her the first time she showed up but didn't have a good feeling. Glad you guys can make the right call when it needs to be done but still upset such a sweet horse ended up like that in the first place.

      I would give anything to own a Belgian, they cost a fortune here in Australia. I hate how these ex owners throw them away in a market instead of giving them that last act of kindness 😢 they are such gentle giants 😢

    I’m sure Hero could have been saved if she had earlier care. That’s on her previous owners who used her up and then took the money from her sale. Shame on those with no souls.

    • @TaraVixen

      So wrong that she was dumped in that condition. Horses have an amazing ability to heal if things are kept clean and monitored! This would have been treatable at the beginning & she could have gone on to find a loving home but the owners didn’t care. They cost a fortune here in Australia so I will never be able to afford a Belgian so it breaks my heart to see them treated like that by humans😢

      I was thinking the same thing when I saw them come off the trailer and saw how skinny they were. BUT - at least they took them to a place where they knew they would be looked after instead of selling them at auction like so many other people do.

    • @fromala2U
      @fromala2U 3 роки тому +11

      You could tell they were rather uneducated about the horses' conditions when they were talking about how good of a ride the one horse was.Those horses were in no state to be ridden. They certainly could have made a buck off them at the auction, especially with horse prices being so high. So I don't think their intentions were bad, just wish people would learn how to properly care for their own animals.

    I am so sad and yet happy about Hero. I had hoped and prayed that she would fight off that massive infection. Sometimes, as nurturing humans, we go above and beyond for our fur babies but you have to know when it's time to say enough. You all did what you could for Hero. Thank you for that. Hero's last month or so on this earth was probably one of her happiest memories. She had love finally! She didn't need to fight for food or attention.
    I know your organization goes above and beyond. When you have to put one of these babies down I am sure it takes the wind from everyone's sails.

      Such a sad familiar story. Children beg to own an animal, then as life progresses the time they spend with their supposedly best friends wanes. Dogs get left outside, bigger animals just get forgotten. One missed meal becomes two, and then weeks go by. I kind of cringe when I watched the adoption by younger children.

But hearing what Doc explained about the conditions found during the necropsy, She would have been suffering needlessly for my well wishes. You all did the best you could and made a tough decision, I'm sure. And I'm also sure, the correct one for Hero. She at least knew some love, caring people, and in spite of the pain she must have been in, a measure of happiness before it was time to let her go. Thank you for trying so very much. I had been following her progress on Facebook. I asked about her in a private message. I was hopeful for her.

In the past I have rescued horses from both regular livestock and all horse auctions. I also at that time watched many go hopelessly to kill buyers as you call them.

    Yay Sarah! Kana is a lucky boy!
    I also wanted to say that it's sad Hero had to be put down, BUT Horse Plus:
    1) Saved her from a terrifying death in a slaughterhouse or even on a slaughter truck
    2) Did the right thing by accepting that it was time to let her go
    3) Showed her weeks of loving kindness and care that she otherwise probably never experienced. Her quality of life in her last few weeks was the best she could have been given and Horse Plus did it without hesitation, even understanding that they might not be able to save her.
    PLEASE SUPPORT this incredible organization!

    Doc has the most gentle and calming voice in the entire world. I could literally listen to him all day every day. I would love to work for him. He is amazing! You are so lucky to have him. What an inspiration. Thank you for all your doing HSH. I watched the part 1 for the new episode with the leg issues and I was just in tears the whole time. I cannot believe people do that horses. They are such an amazing creature.

    I donated to Horse Plus for the first time because of Hero. When I heard Jason say that they had rescued 43 precious lives and Hero was in the background I knew I had to help. Thank You guys for all you do! It helps to know that Hero felt love, kindness, and attention in those last few weeks.

    It’s best that Hero crossed over the rainbow 🌈 bridge. She is no longer in pain and you gave her more love in the short time you had her than she probably had for a long time.

    Jasper and Memphis are more like 500 lbs. underweight but at least they gave them up before it was too late. Pretty horses. They sure have a nice trailer, though.... smh.

      Yeah, new truck, new trailer..🤔
      Under fed horses with matted manes :/ Just glad they didn't wait any longer to surrender them.

      maybe the car and trailer were rental/borrowed from a friend, to be able to surrender them

    • @Restlessgypzy
      @Restlessgypzy 3 роки тому +3

      The Trailer did have a large decal that said “Rent Me” on the back, kind of like Uhaul, so I figured it was a rental.

      Very few places available to surrender horses- other than auction. They probably didnt want horses end up with a kill buyer.
      Hope these horses are able to put on weight, improve health and find a new home. None of us know the situation unless
      you have walked in their shoes. Best situation is surrender horses before weight loss.

    What is the youngest you guys would hire? Not like I’m old enough to work anywhere. But I have always talked about how I would love to work there in the future if it’s cleaning the stalls mucking poop whatever it takes.

      Can I join too….? Lol! I used to have a “job” cleaning the barn (technically speaking, I’m too young but I worked for discounted lessons) and I worked it for 2 years so I have experience. I’m not that far from them!
