- Get ready for this year’s Home for the Holidays adoption event! In this episode, Dr. Lydia stops by, Elijah trims some of our horses' hooves, and we adopt 19 animals! It was such an exciting week at our shelter and we hope you all enjoy it as much as we did. Merry Christmas everyone!

The man who adopted Gus and Sissy is the perfect example of a good adoption in my mind . U felt so proud of him for caring about keeping them together . What a wonderful adoption event..so many animals finding their furever homes... poor Brock the Donkey..he's had such a rough start he was so emaciated when Horse Plus got him..he's put on a lot of weight but still needs more..I'd have to take him home...he needs lots of hugs as well as lots of food..Yay🎉Lincoln got a home..great idea to have the cats in reception..Zelda sold herself once she went onto her new mommys shoulder😂..Great move Zelda !!.. love it when they adopt 2 so they can have buddies too..l wish l lived on a humongous ranch which I'd fill full of horses..Donkeys cats and dogs..but I'm an old townie who just dreams..maybe in my next lifetime..can't wait for Dr Lydia and the other new vet to start..we see so much more of intake and treatments too..probably the new year start..had to work her notice..Fiesta is getting better slowly but they are BIG injuries and wounds..she is going to take a long time to rehab but the only good thing to come out of it is that she is going to be used to being handled !! Boy that horse that they had to put in the closed pen just to touch..he's going to take a lot of work..maybe he is still a stallion..castration might help if thats the case..thing is you don't know what he has had to deal with in his life..to be that reavtive says that to me..I'd expect it from just caught mustangs but this boy was wild..he had the fear in his eyes. Which episode shows when Fiesta first got hurt? She looks like she’s been on the mend and doing a great job getting better! Thanks to all the love and support of the folks taking care of her. I remember seeing Kim flush her neck wound a couple episodes back.

I live in upstate New York, and we also have the Japanese Asian beetles. They are very invasive. Sometimes we take the plate off of an outlet to vacuum it and it’s full of dead beetle bodies. When you vacuum them, they smell horrible and when they’re alive flying around, if they get on you or you try to catch them, they will bite you. It’s absolutely horrible and then certain times of year when it gets very sunny out, it’s still cold outside but it’s warm inside. We have had tens of thousands of them covering our wall and ceiling. It was horrible. We also have Beatles named box elders they’re just as bad they just don’t bite but they are everywhere. Another type of beetle that we have is called a stink bug, I think the female is the one that stinks in the male isn’t, but when you see one of the corner of your eye definitely catches your attention. …. Love all you guys do!!
We also have them here in Germany although I didn't know they were invasive as I rarely see them 😅

Dr. Lydia and the other new vet coming is the biggest Christmas gift of all! So excited to see Dr. Lydia coming on staff full time, she’s an excellent vet, an incredible, gifted teacher, and has the most lovely, kind, gentle manner. 🥰🥳 Looking forward to meeting the new vet, too, and watching their collaboration develop to help all the equines and other sweet critters at HPHS.
