It was not that they died, it was how they faced their deaths is what matters.
i was really interested in this cause i was just in Texas and everyone was talking about the Alamo and going to the Alamo so i just wanted to learn more.

The heroism and rare bravery by those men at the Alamo make me proud to have been born a Texan if not raised one. I was raised in Alabama but am proud to call myself a native of Wichita Falls, Texas.
I’m glad to have been born in California but even prouder to say I grew up in Texas and moved back to Cali after a while so many American patriots in Texas no cap
I just bought Davy Crockett's autobiography, but one of the most fascinating things about the Alamo defenders, was their diverse nationalties. Look up the list of Alamo casualties and you will find Texicans, Englishmen, Scots, Irish, German..a lot of Europeans in there deciding to give Santa Anna a bloody nose at least.

@SniperCadett Yes, i saw more in my history class than on the TV.
Let's also keep in mind that Santa Ana wasn't really supposed to be there. He wasn't really representing Mexico as much as he was himself. This will come back to bite him later when he hands over Texas to the Americans. Mexico sends him back to Cuba as an exile AGAIN. So the Texans really did have a legitimate reason for fighting

Wow i have this for a hw assignment and I'm watching it a decade later considering its nearly new years.
If there had been a back door at the Alamo there never would’ve been a Texas.
Why should we care about what happened in the 1830s to some farmers and ranchers? It is story who has repercussions ringing in the hearts of many today. An army who was outnumbered 10-1 fighting nothing more than a way of life. They did not have to fight, but they did so their children could have hopefully have better lives than they did. It is a story of inspiration. It is a story that I wish people appreciated more because it can go out to anyone who thinks the impossible cannot be done.

Actually a good number of the alamo fighters were Mexicans. Mexicans in Texas tried to rebel numerous times only to lose. Mexicans in Texas wanted independence since Mexico beat Spain. Finally Mexican citizens in Texas gained help from Americans and Europeans.

You cannot state this as a fact. I got taught history by Mexican teachers, with a Mexican textbook on a Mexican school. You learned history from your country's teachers, textbooks and schools. That said, it's fair to say both countries want to look like the good guys towards their population, and we can't say that our version is fact while the other was manipulated into another belief, because there's equal chance of both being true.
Julio what I found is all country’s, sugar coat the history. If you want the real history you have to look it up yourself. All country’s really do that.
This the kind of bs we get caught taught growing up and which is why the world is so split. We have those who know the truth and does who don’t. Even some who know the truth but deny in accepting it.

The American settlers were not necessarily interlopers into Texas. Under the leadership of Moses Austin, the Americans received a Land grant from the King of Spain (hence, the Spanish governor of Texas) while it was still part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Of course México, when it acheived independence from Spain in 1821, especially under Sant Ana, would not respect the Spanish arrangement. My comment as a Spaniard American is that many historians leave out, or brush over important facts that do not educate nor enlighten the general public with the Whole truth. If someone were to control the way I live unfairly like Santa Anna did, heck I wouldn't have any of it either! No person should have to be told how to live, how to raise their family, etc. God bless the men who fought for and won Texas its freedom.

The first vice president of the republic of Texas was Lorenzo DeZavala. The town of Seguin, Texas was named after Juan Seguin who fought for Texas independence. MANY Mexicans fought for the cause.
They were fighting over slavery as well cause that was their way of life and Mexico had made it illegal
What was the flag under which the Alamo Garrison fought for. It wasn't a U.S. Flag or any state flag but one with the colors and the number 1824. They wanted the Mexican Constitution of 1824 to remain in effect but Santa Anna repelled it as the dictator that he was !

Fails to say how those in the Alamo were settling but bringing their slaves with them. Mexico had banned slavery after getting their independence from Spain. The Alamo happened because the us did not want to give up slavery.

What lies the Americans tell, when they affirm that they made Texas independent, in fact they stole it, to continue maintaining, a system of work, based on slavery, abolished in Mexico from the moment of independence, Texas was not independent, Texas was stolen by illegal American immigrants.

General Antonio Lopez Santa Anna, all he did was his duty, to defend the integrity of the national territory.

Except that there WAS no "American side". There was only the rebel side (Anglos, Tejanos, etc) and the Mexican Army.

Pretty good video with a few mistakes:
1) The Battle of the Alamo was fought during the early hours of the morning, before the sun came up. Not during the middle of the day.
2) David Crockett's position on the palasade wall never was breached by the attacking Mexican infantry.
3) There were survivors of the battle, mostly women and childern of the Alamo defenders and local population and Colonel Travis' slave Joe.
Overall, good video but with a few errors.

I remember the people in your country always calls America to their country. You also are taught in school that there are North America and South America as 2 separated continents.
In México we learn America is a single continent. And the country to the north is called United States of America. So I guess thats why we cant understand each other's point of view.

As a native Tejano they wanted to enslave my family. We joined the Apaches and scalped them.
Actually, as I was lead to understand, México had its own territory, which included great portion of Texas, up until Nueces River. Afterwards, Texas became an independent Republic. U.S.A. then took over that territory, and stretched its territory down until Rio Grande, which started the fight.
I see this more as interrupted Mexican history than American history.
It's good that Americans remember the Alamo, a MEXICAN victory for all time!
It doesnt matter if a few of the texans were living in that territory before Mexico became Mexico, even before the Spanish arrived to that area. Its just doesnt matter.
That territory became a part of Mexico and its logic that it had to obey the rules of the whole country.

The Americans/European's came there were under agreement with Spain. Mexico was a territory of Spain. When given their independence Santa Anna abolishes the Mexican constitution. Several states rebelled against Santa Anna, not just Texas.

Mexican isn't a race, it's a nationality. You should at least take time to consider the difference between race and nationality before you insult someone's education system.
Mexicans are pretty racist though, I don't know if you've ever had the displeasure of speaking with someone from northern Mexico but they aren't exactly tolerant of anyone else. Mexicans from the south are pretty nice from my experience.

Don't forget the leaders at the time signed the deal, I wouldn't really call it stealing. You can make the case that the leaders were corrupt but that isn't exactly the United States fault is it? Also, people NEVER seem to remember that even though it was a lot of physical territory there was very little people who were actually Mexican living there. Most people living in that territory were Native American. So if you want to get technical Mexico "stole" it from the natives first.

We didnt steal that territory from Spain. All of that land, our country today and even more land to the south, all of that was called New Spain. It all became México when we gained our independence.

Because they are not telling the truth, they have denigrated the honor of the 19th century Mexican army, which defended Texas, as cruel, ruthless, and barbaric, while fighting against "the heroes" of the Battle of Alamo led by Davy Crockett, when they were ( the premeditated Americans) who perpetuated an illegal invasion of the Texan territory that belonged to Mexico in 1836, the year the Alamo occurred and the subsequent battle of San Jacinto, which led to the loss of Texas.
Ironically, while Texas was Mexican, slavery was abolished, while with the United States it was legal.
It is time to tell the truth.

Ah, the Alamo. Preface, I’m not some America hating liberal. I’m a first generation immigrant who was born somewhere else before moving here. I’m also a US military Veteran. Love this Country. But I’m not proud of the Alamo incident at all. Just a modicum of online research will show you that the ‘Americans’ were actually illegal immigrants on Mexican land at the time, and one of the reasons for this conflict was that Mexico had recently abolished slavery, and the illegal immigrants on their land (many of whom brought slaves there) were opposed to that. Think on that next time you consider glorifying Davy Crockett or any of the other people who died in this battle. They actually weren’t the good guys based on modern day morals. No. Mexico claimed up to the Nueces. Texas claimed up to the Rio Grande. America recognized the Republic of Texas as a sovereign nation. This angered Mexico, and Mexico attacked US soldiers who were patrolling the Texas-Mexico border.
