I saw the movie about Davey Crockett in the fifties. I have been fascinated by the Alamo since then. I finally got to see it during leave time from Air Force Basic training in 1968. The bus dropped us off right in front of it. I didn't recognize it. I was expecting to see a building surrounded by sand and scrub brush. But it was in the middle of the city. It was awe inspiring to finally be standing in front of the place where Davey Crockett died. We saw the inside of the Chapel and the artifacts there. It was a solemn and quiet experience. I'll never forget it.

Santa Anna was not at Gonzales demanding return of the cannon. Col. Ugartechea was in command of the Mexican troops there. True, the colonel was under orders from Santa Anna, but Santa Anna was not present at Gonzales, as he was at San Antonio. Also, what most people refer to as the Alamo is actually the mission's church. The Alamo was the entire compound with walls around it.

It was David Crockett, he hated Davey and never went by it. Texans fought for land. If you check you will find the 30 or 40,000 American settlers there only had a total of 2 or 3,000 slaves total. It was not about slavery it was all about a fresh start and LAND. Land was wealth, independence and freedom. Crockett was the best friend the Indians ever had as he opposed Democrat President Andrew Johnson, who order the forcible removal and relocation of Indian tribes. Please see Trail of Tears. Johnson politically destroyed David Crockett, who at age 49, was forced to try for a new start in what would become Texas. The Alamo defenders were there for a fresh start and land. Where did it come from that they were almost out of ammo, they were not firing for 13 days. The Mexicans insisted everyone become Catholic for starts.
500 more men were a mere 90 miles away for reinforcements. The Alamo defenders expected to be saved.

This guy made it seem like the entire battle was fought at the chapel which is false. Most people don’t realize that the Alamo was on a open field of walls and long barracks. Most of the original structures are long gone today. Should’ve been more clearer and concise about the actual battle and surrounding areas.

Hip gave a quick version which he could have gotten from a public school history book bought from the lowest bidder. The title had one to believe that it would have more details about the battle and not about San Jacinto, the Republic and state. I excuse the mispronounced words as I know he is not from here but some authentic terms could have slightly improved his delivery.

Trump is irrelevant now, the global revolution against the Deep State and their Globalist masters is being driven by the resistance to forced "vaccinations". He may become relevant in the US again when the election fraud is uncovered, but many have lost all faith in him, mainly because he looks very much like controlled opposition. Trump's support for "vaccination" has disqualified him as genuine in the eyes of most of us..

You forgot the part where they all knew they were going to die cause they were vastly outnumbered but stayed to fight anyway so Houston could capture a Mexican weapons cache giving them the weapons they needed to win the battle of San Jacinto, 200 men held up 2000 for 13 days! also the Mexican government didn't have a liberal immigration policy , they wanted the apache Indians cleared out of that territory but didn't want to fight them themselves so they offered free land to anyone who would "deal with the problem" so to speak, Lastly we have an annual Masonic ceremony at the alamo every March 6th , it's quite the sight to see , y'all come on down.

I don't understand the references on tv shows and movies. Like on TWD when Daryl Dixon says "remember the alamo?", and they immediately picked up the dead guy to shove him out the door and sacrificed his body to distract the walkers so they could get away. Every one immediately knew what he was suggesting, but I never understood why. I've heard it referenced in different ways, but it never made much sense.

The battle of the Alamo was fought in the Republic of Mexico in the Mexican state of
Tejas. Mexico was trying to free the slaves from the southerner who wanted slavery
in Tejas. Mexico knew slavery was inhumane and was fighting to end slavery.
The terrorist won and slavery continued, but Mexico is proud to say it didn't continue
in Tejas, it now was legal in the New Republic of Texas to own another human being.

Funnily enough, I just read the Mexican newspaper that covered the capture of the Alamo. It was like in the middle of the manifests of cargoes being imported into Veracruz. And yep, seeing 1836 newspapers praising “the great general and honor to his country Santa Anna” is certainly surreal given how much he is reviled today.

    No, No, No
@ 0:30 -- Santa Anna did NOT go to Gonzales. Colonel Ugartechea was the commander of the Mexican detachment of maybe 100 which tried to re-po (tried to re-possess) the cannon.
@ 2:15 -- You gave the impression that all of the combatants inside the Alamo were Americans. Many of them had lived in Tejas for several years, some for a couple of decades. They called themselves Tejanos or Texicans. Some of them had lived in Tejas their entire lives -- with names such as Abamillo, Badillo, Espalier, Esparza, Fuentes, Guerrero, Losoya, Nava, and Seguin.
@ 2:25 -- Perhaps 1,500 Mexican troops participated in the assault on the Alamo, but Santa Anna's army contained over 6,000 men.
@ 2:30 -- Col. Neill had been the commander of Texican forces in the Alamo. However, he had health problems and left long before Santa Anna arrived. At the time of the battle, Col. Travis was in command of Texican forces in the old mission.
@ 3:29 -- The Mexican assaults were not "on this building." They were on the mission, which occupied over three acres surrounded by a wall. This "building" was the un-finished chapel inside the mission. It remains in San Antonio today, as well as some portions of the wall.
@ 4:22 -- You said that Texas declared independence on March 3, 1836. No, it was March 2.
@ 4:26 -- Where did you come up with that fake money?

The Alamo was not a missionary, it was a mission. The people who lived there trying to convert Indians were missionaries. Sorry to be pedantic, imagination runs wild, lol.

What we learned from this, is not to give americans an open door policy to your land.

Mexicans welcomed the pilgrims to fight their native american enemies for them
When the pilgrims prospered the mexican began punishing them. The pilgrims were not greedy, they wanted to be split away from Coahuila and become their own Mexican state of Tejas. Plez check the facts more explicitly.

June 9, 2021. An article in TIME magazine spells out the erroneous perception of the Alamo as a symbol of freedom. Texas maintains that myth to legitimize its existence and its current status quo. Also to promote tourism by providing a stage set that immortalizes that false narrative. The delicate matter of slavery is inconveniently resurrected. Texas for, Mexico against.

What about the fact Mexico ended slavery in 1829 and allowed Texas to continue until 1830 under their second president Vicente Guerra?
