This Memphis team must have moved mountains to meet X.AI's requirements on timing and cost. The power utility in particular must have found solutions to the massive network scale-up problems that are bedevilling the AI Supercomputer world, and Musk himself must have liked those solutions. Congratulations Memphis!
EVERYTHING "more than a car company", is being removed by Musk. Tesla could POWER this xAI facility .. but the location was chosen for cheap Utility electricity. The majority of Tennessee's electricity is produced by coal.
It was a economic decision honestly nothing more it overall Made more sense strategically but this takes away nothing the city of Memphis and state of Tennessee regardless of how much economic since it made it still takes a lot of planning from local the government as well
dear god @elonmusk- don’t let Memphis down. Memphis’ resilient, beautiful people have been decided against systematically and worse for too long and this, dear god @Elon. - is answers to prayers of hope and real investment and opportunity, and whose answers God has not proffered.
Elon is just looking for cheap electricity and tax breaks. At max 20 entry-level employees will work there to just replace things. The smart scientists will be working remotely not inside a datacenter.
You got it. See my comment earlier. These locals and politicians don’t know any better though. So they hear AI and think that they will somehow see some tangible benifit. But the reality is…just like most of these tech companies..most (if not all) of the benifit will go towards Elon and xAI, and the locals won’t see anything, in fact, they will be left with extra problems
This is good for Memphis but certainly had nothing to do with good people. Memphis is currently a shithole and everyone knows this. I doesn’t always have to be a shithole. 💩. Memphis has plenty of clean water and fairly cheap electricity. That’s obviously why it was chosen
Didn't you get the memo? Tesla is doing a hard pivot to making general purpose robots, robotaxis, and artificial general intelligence. I don't know how someone would be able to hijack a robot Taxi for whatever the reason they would try to even do such a thing, but whatever. The good news is, this will bring billions of dollars to the city which is sorely needed. PS: No car thief in existence tries to steal a Tesla. They are notoriously difficult to hijack or steal.

Musk has a track record of doing hard things at scale. Memphis may shock the world in the future
Congrats Memphis! They don't get more prestigious than this.

Elon is good people, the fact that he came anyway with everybody putting us down, is a good hint at that. We got this😊
Tennessee will have another supercomputer . Congrats to TN and Xai

Congratulations Memphis!! Well done!
Nice
So who is going to power the AI stuff? Are utilities going to increase the cost for domestic consumers?
yup

Memphis? wtf?
It's hilarious seeing the haters, hate on us in Memphis, we good people down here, we gone carry the torch.

Do people realize that this has nothing to do with Tesla? This is a completely different company that is owned by Elon.
@@wisemanofsorts6068 Which could be a major miscalculation
@@wysiwyg1 In other words don't get too excited about this venture. This thing but up and ready by fall of the year. That is too fast to begin with
This company has tons to do with Tesla. Every Elon owned company is intertwined. You seriously don’t know this?😊

MLGW is NOT CHEAP 🤬
A lot of it is produced by natural gas ! Lagoon creek? Ever heard of that. Gets sent straight to yall
This project is going to make Tesla an EMPTY company.
Why do you say that?
Tesla makes cars
This company hasn't announced any product

Why does Ilan make a seperate company and not make AI in house in Tesla??
