I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock.

I'm a huge fan of Elon Musk,and they say old folks can't change, but I have heard his opinions and am changing my mind to be in agreement with him, because he makes good sense. The biggest shock has been about nature...I was very childish about my outlook, but with just a few words, he has made me rethink and realize nature is not gentle ...it's harsh and hard . I'm 79 so this has come late but I am facing reality for the first time. Elon is a genius , and I hold him in highest regard.

At 79 you should be able to make him out for who he really is. Yes, nature isn't gentle but it isn't evil and conniving. Hold Musk in the highest regard as a genius and an inventor of concrete things although he is not a media talent; he destroyed Twitter as most principled people agree. Take a look at how he handled both the employees of Twitter and the executives. He knew better than everybody there. He has either moved to far-right ideas but as a white South African, probably had his superiority complex and apartheid beliefs all along. Pay more attention without rose-colored glasses and hopefully, you will return to thinking as the nice man you were.

Nobody doubts his intelligence even genius as to his businesses but here he describes woke falsely. You will never have sustainable population replacement unless you significantly reduce the family's cost of raising children.

I agree on his position on immigration. Illegal immegration needs to end, legal immigration needs to be well controlled and benefit the nation, and integrate into the culture of the host nation, not create separate subcultures.
I would add that immigration systems need to leverage technology to improve the depth of the screenings and background checks while making it MUCH easier and cheaper for immigrants to apply.
I'm assuming he is referring to the west, because the rest of the world really needs to stop having so many children. I think everyone knows about India and China, but for example Africa had 300 million people in 1950, today their population is 1.6 BILLION people, that's more than 5x, I think that's quite enough now. And that's the west fault (no sarcasm).

I'm really happy Elon is mentioning the Migration topic... Europe is struggling with immigration, there are EU cities that are barely recognizable because of so much immigrants comparing it for example 2010 and 2022... If countries want to keep their integrity, culture and status then this should change and if somebody is misbehaving or has come illegally in a country then they should be deported... Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria and other EU countries are unique when you go there.. and they have their own culture, festivals, origin, history and etc..
What will happen if there is Germany without any real Germans or Italy without any real Italians? I go to vacation to Italy because of Italy's culture and Germany and Switzerland and Austria, I like going there on vacation it's nice and unique but the last 2 visits I've had a strange feeling... Those stupid leaders should do something before it's too late.

He is missing a bit of an education on CO2 and climate though.
We only produce 4% of all of the CO2. Nature produces the rest.
The higher the CO2 goes, the less effect it has on warming (if it has any effect on warming at all - every day the atmosphere loses a large chunk of itself to space).
CO2 doesn't determine climate. Latitude, altitude, and large bodies of water do. That's straight from NASA and textbooks. If CO2 doesn't determine climate, it can't cause climate change.
It's being beaten out them and they don't even recognize the whip. Sad but true.

Elon Musk is totally refreshing. How lovely and wonderful that in this day and age he is encouraging civilisation to grow in population. I agree with him. The world can cope, although we do need good leaders, and good corporate companies. He speaks common sense in all aspects. This guy is a light we need at this time, along with God and Jesus Christ.

The reason the population drops after industrialisation is because wealth distribution becomes horrendous and people that aren't able to have what they think they deserve simply aren't interested in having kids. Most children unfortunately come from poorer income households (at least in the UK) because the parents don't think about the consequences of unprotected sex.
We need more mechanical engineers like Elon asking questions and rationalizing aspects of the human condition. I encourage all you young people reading this, mechanical engineering is intensly difficult but you will learn so much about life, the universe and even yourself. And as you discover and understand more of it you'll be longing for even more answers. There is no greater path in life and no greater calling.
This person lives in a higher dimension than the rest of us. One we all should aspire to reach. That's why the Ruling Elite is fighting him so much, he inspires people.

The opposite for anyone (like me) who has a PhD in physics. They guy says really basic stuff and what blows my mind is how much credit non-experts give him. He’s also way off on population. Our population has grown nearly 5x in 100 years. That’s insane. It is completely natural for things to calm down and buy and the population to come down. Once it reaches equilibrium, it will stabilize again. It can’t go up in a straight line forever 🤦🏻♀️. Therein lay the non-intelligence.

Yes I agree with you all but as an investor his outbursts can cause havoc with the stock price of Tesla. This interview was great and he didn’t say anything that would inflame or incite other woke companies to pull funds out causing losses.
I’m so glad he said we should support women. I am a woman who has children and it was the best decision ever but it’s extremely difficult to “have children” physically emotionally and financially so I hate when people say have more children like they are placing an order. We have to support women in different ways and then you’ll probably get more children. Just saying.
Providing incentives to make life easier if you have children should be a top priority. This is coming from a single person. lol

Right now not having children is a rational choice for most people, for all the reasons you describe. Having children is a huge sacrifice and responsibility, but it also is the most rewarding and meaningful thing you can do in life. It is also the only way you can get grandchildren, which is all gravy.

About needing more children. I read elsewhere, that populations worldwide are deficient in Zinc, which is needed for(among other things) making spermatazoa. Zinc is needed by humans in really tiny amounts and zinc is not very expensive. Surely if governments want more children they should be supplementing staple foods with zinc. No doubt there are other thing which populations are borderline dfficient in that could be similarly supplemented in staple foods. I seem to remember that during WW2 the British government put extra calcium in the "National Loaf" (the only type of bread that was on sale everywhere.).
Elon is so inspiring and his message and vision of the future is amazing especially compared to the dreadful dystopian future other people have in mind for us. I’m on Elons side 100%. I will never eat bugs.

What he's missing about the CO2 issue is:
We only produce 4% of all of the CO2. Nature produces the rest.
The higher the CO2 goes, the less effect it has on warming.
CO2 levels were much higher in the past.
CO2 doesn't determine climate. Latitude, altitude, and large bodies of water do. That's straight from NASA and textbooks. If CO2 doesn't determine climate, it can't cause climate change.

Thanks Farzad for this positive reminder. Just today even the Wall Street Journal, which I think of as having integrity, published another feature hit-piece on Elon. So sad that one person comes along who actually does something about moving us to sustainable energy while also reviving the space program and much of the press and general population only tears him down. All the people who now say they will "never buy a Tesla" might stop to consider that Elon is the only reason they can choose whether to buy an EV in the first place.
