@MrSitallewal83I think the Elite is farrrr more comfortable. The memory foam and the fact that the cuffs have give allows me to wear them all day with no issue. The Pulse were mainly worse because I wear glasses, they squeezed my ears into them. I really like the Elites.
I love the Pulse Elite. Controlling the mute function of the headset with the controller's mute button is excellent. Holding that button also mutes all system audio, too. I recorded myself speaking simultaneously with my Pixel 7 Pro and Pulse Elite. I was standing next to a running dryer machine and you could hear it with the Pixel 7 Pro recording, but not at all with the headset. It effectively has noise canceling for the microphone. Most headsets with active noise canceling just cancel out sounds the wearer hears. The Pulse Elite is the first microphone I've ever used (and I've used many) that has noise canceling for the microphone, so people that would hear you speaking hear less background noise.
"Controlling the mute function of the headset with the controller's mute button is excellent. Holding that button also mutes all system audio, too" This is a Dualsense feature and it works with any headset you have.
I really liked more this Pulse Elite than my the Steel Series Arctis 7+ on the PS5. Good sound quality, very comfortable, mic noise cancelling and the EQ which comes handy for different games. I started having distortions on the connectivity with the Arctis too, so I hope the PS Link does great, so far is awesome.
Excellent review. Really appreciate the comparisons. Even mentioned the material coming undone, that’s what happened to my Pulse 3d and the only reason I’m considering getting anything.
For me the ability to "watch" UA-cam on my laptop while playing and being able to seamlesly switch to my PC (which I use more as a console) through Bluetooth is the main selling point. It was a long search to find headphones that filled that void (including buying a "Multipoint Bluetooth" headset only to realize it doesn't work with those and returning it. I ended up tirying of the wait for Pulse Elite and picked up Steelseries Artic Nova 7 (40€ more expensive a few months ago, though I just checked and it's actually 20€ cheaper that Elite where I live now) and I'm really happy with it. The only cons I could see it having compared to Pulse Elite is not having the Mute or volume level being visible on screen (though you can actually adjust both through the PS5) and the red light on the mic when muted through the headset is really obvious (if the mic isn't retracted).
Once again Mystic is the PlayStation content we NEED not the one we deserve. No one reviews consoles, games and platforms like this. Again, thank you Mystic.
No review can beat the consumers feeling. That’s being said,my son who is 12 years old plays on a PS5 connected to a LG G3 TV and always with his phone and tablet connected close by. Regarding headphones he started using my old ones I bought 20 years ago. Today I asked him if he feels the need for an upgrade and I talked him into watch reviews of the new Pulse Elite. His answer after 30 minutes was something I did not ever expected. He said…”no,I do not need new headphones, this ones sound just fine “ His current model it’s a 2000-2004 Sony MDR CD380 with about 5-6m of cable.Practically my old headphones from my gaming experience.
The material on my Pulse 3D started coming out from under the headphones. I pulled off the ear cups and superglued it back on. During the process I noticed that the whole thing would likely do that with enough time so I preemptively pulled it off all the way around and ran a bead of superglue on both sides. I did this to both ear cups. It’s been over a year of very heavy use and they are still holding like new, technically better than new. If anyone does this I would suggest just pulling it up a little and dabbing some superglue then hold it down with you thumbnail for a moment and keep doing this around the perimeter. The material will tear before that superglue lets loose. Once you snap the ear cups back on any mistakes you made will be completely hidden.
I came on UA-cam expecting to spend hours watching different reviews on this headset, good thing I clicked on yours first! Best review I’ve seen in a long time!
Great review! I am definitely picking one up. One thing you might not know, Ryan, is that if you triple press the mute button, it brings up the audio menu on the PS5 to change settings. Cool little shortcut. Keep up the good work!
I wouldn’t man. Almost everyone is having major connection issues with these and the Pulse Explorers which released over a year ago. They drop connection all the time. Resets and re-pairing seems to help for a little bit and it ends up coming back. Not to mention these things are really junky. All the weight is on the ears due to the cheap plastic. So they slide all over your head. And the sound is “meh”. They’re not horrible. But they’re not good. And they don’t work very well at all with the PSVR2.
@@EyeForKnowledge.absolutely disagree not only are they light on the head they’re actually super good with the psvr2 not only do they have no connection issues in my experience it’s actually the earbuds that have the most connectivity issues in my experience. It’s absolutely surreal anyone can blatantly lie like this and recommend a product that is not close to being as good as the pulse elites. $150 is really fair for what you’re getting in my opinion. Played for hours and hours at a time multiple times and had no need to restart my headphones a single time. Love these headphones and would recommend to anyone looking for affordable headphones to get these beauties.
@@EyeForKnowledge. I have heard there are people having problems, but one thing I know about electronics is the people who are having problems will complain like crazy online (as they should) and it can make something out to be a more widespread problem than it actually is. The people who aren't having problems don't need to say anything online. But I do appreciate you wanting people to know there is a risk with them and I will take that into consideration.
I have a 7.1.2 Atmos set up. I’m watching because I got the original Pulse 3D headset, I use them when I’m playing late into the evening so my sub frequencies and explosions in games doesn’t disturb my partner when they are trying to sleep. I just have an issue with how dull the sound is, and how the 3D effects aren’t anywhere close (I really never expected them to be any good, so the fact it works at all is is nice) to what my home theater does for sound placement and certainly not for frequency range and clarity. This is why I’m interested in the Pulse Elite headset. Ryan’s test here leads me to believe that the Pulse Elite has the best voice clarity. The earbuds and the Sony branded headphones had clarity issues as if the Bluetooth connection wasn’t very solid, the voice had a mild stutter effect that wouldn’t sit well with with me, not that I would hear that myself, but I wouldn’t want my friends or other players to have to put up with that kind of sound if it annoys myself.
I have a 7.1.4 so I definitely understand where you're coming from. I've had the Pulse Elite for a few days now and I have not been disappointed when going from receiver to headset. The sound is really good, especially for the price, and you'll definitely notice a big step up from the Pulse 3D. Also, the 3D audio is better but pick your game wisely. There are far more games where the devs have been lazy about 3D audio support than those that have done it right. Returnal and especially Dead Space Remake are really good ones to test that on. The mic is pretty clear as well. I play Helldivers 2 with friends and family and they all said that they could tell a big difference in my mic when I switched to the Elite.
@@Horyzun That is exactly the information I needed to make sure the upgrade is worth it. I totally understand 3D audio being better in certain games and that translates to the Atmos implementation as well. Thanks for the input! I appreciate it.
Surprised that Mystic reviewed this headset so late, I've been expecting his review. Good review, alleviated some of my concerns while I was waiting for my order (took a week in my country). So, Pulse Elite arrived today and I just finished an approx 3-hour test. I was really nervous while waiting for the delivery, almost ready to cancel with all the faults reported on reddit, in some reviews and whatnot (i.e. random disconnects, popping and high pitched sounds). To my relief my experience was positive so far and I am really happy with my purchase. As expected, the bass is kind of subdued, but in no way to the point I'd call the sound flat. Sound detail and separation is great. Went through a dozen of my favorite tracks and the music sounds all right, a bit different from what I used to, but good nonetheless. The connection was rock solid with simultaneous PS5 and phone Bluetooth. In terms of comfort: I have a somewhat larger than average head but had no problems whatsoever. I'd say with this price point it is a good and fairly unique option. If you are not a jaded audiophile and looking for a headset with good PS5 compatibility, try it out, you might be pleasantly surprised.
0:10 They apparently acquired audeze too, a high-end headphone manufcaturer known for using the planar magnetic drivers, the kind of which is inside this headset too.
Being a headphone aficionado i am not only impressed with the pulse elite but deeply impressed with them The sound quality is so high that it gives some $1000 audiophile headphone a run for their money. It trashes all gaming headsets out there it plays at a different league. Here is my headphone collection so you know what i am coming from ( beyerdynamic mmx 300,beyerdynamic T1, sennheiser Hd800s, Sony MDR-z1r, T+A solitaire p-se)
My pulse did it job and served me for 7 good plus years!!! Time to let him retire and used as a backup. These are the best headphones I own and I bought those expensive turtle beach and astros 40-50.
Hey Ryan can you discuss the disconnect issues these headphones are receiving? There is also reports of people hearing a metallic clinging sound from the headset cup which should NOT be happening. I have seen reports of the headset having a high pitched white noise sound too...
The g6 functions as an amplifier and dac right? Would that allow 3d audio in any capacity? I’m asking because I have a similar setup with my monolith m1060 + nfb 11 combo and still don’t know if 3d audio is a gimmick or not 😅
@@putyograsseson i am not too much of an Expert. I still would say as its adverticed its a gimmick. Way more important is each individual audio mixing and sound design in the games themselfs.
I had a horrible experience with the Elites. Pre-ordered them and it's very possible I got a bad set. Ended up returning them after support couldn't help me....they just had me reset them like 5 times. The mic was muffled and cut off the first part of some words. Audio was incredibly tinny, even after adjusting the EQ it was bad. Very little bass and ear piercing highs. But the worst part was a crackling noise, the audio would crackle loudly and cut-out for a split second. So I'm back to the 3Ds.
I’m also getting subtle crackling/distortion. Had 2 disconnects. I feel like it’s an issue with the dongle, it doesn’t sit properly in the USB slot. Have to move it up and down until it connects.
I usually used my soundbar, but have recently switched over to using my Pulse 3D more over the past year or two. I'm glad to hear the elite headset is in fact better as I've been wondering whether it might be worth an upgrade, especially since I do get a bit of discomfort after wearing the Pulse 3D for extended periods of time.
Always glad to see a new mystic video but today was even better since I was currently in the middle of trying to decide if I should buy these when I got the notification for this video lol
I went for Steel Series Nova 7P initially since they were apparently the most highly rated. I was not impressed. Very comfy and lightweight but I couldn't justify why I had just "upgraded" and they honestly just felt cheap. Tried the Pulse Elites and was blown away of how much more detailed the sound is. I can hear certain tones more clearly. At this price point, this is definitely a worthy upgrade/update.
The only thing I wish they bought back was the ability to control the game and chat sound on the fly on the headset itself without having to stop and go into the settings.
I had to take mine back constant disconnects and the head band keep getting hung in max position. They guy at Best Buy said he had five returns of them already because of the disconnects
I’m having connection issues with my Elite. Sometimes it randomly disconnects, or the microphone just stops working altogether. I restart my PS5 and it works again. Rinse and repeat.
I've still got my 20th anniversary Playstation headset that i used on PS4. Easily the most comfortable headset I've used and they're still kicking despite looking a little weathered.
When watching UA-cam and when a video is not playing ( in the menu or paused video) the headset often makes weird noises sounding like tinnitus somewhat, or is it just me? It’s gone when videos play and it has various sounds it squeaks out when not playing any sound. It also occasionally disconnects from the ps5.
I'm really enjoying them, a much bigger upgrade audio wise over the original Pulse headset. I swear I'm detecting sounds I haven't heard before in some of my games. The 3D audio is even more immersive. I'm primarily a solo player so I rarely use the mic. One issue I have is sometimes the link connection will cut out and I have to remove and plug the adapter back in the console. I use the port on the front. Probably it will get fixed with a software update.
Thanks for mentioning the mute from the controller! NO OTHER REVIEW METIONS THAT! also, i feel like you missed a couple of pretty important points - no mention of the features if you have the dual sense elite? u can adjust volume from the controller, as well as game/chat mix using the directional pad and the buttons below the thumb sticks. pretty neat!
I must be very lucky I’ve had my Elites for awhile and they disconnected twice and I watched a guy on UA-cam how to reset and I followed his instructions and they have never disconnected again. I like the sound quality but I’m no expert. I used those A50 on ps4 what a drama they were. 😊
It's an improvement which is good, it's also more expensive, but it's still nice to have options. Personally for me I'll never leave hi-fi or open backs when at home where I can control background noise. Have a 660S2 coming in today to hopefully replace my 560S thats served me the last couple years.
This is a great review! Thanks for the comparison of the mic and the controller being set down on the desk. That really shows that the elite is the superior in that area. Also seems like the clarity of the mic when talking was also. I had the pulse 3D before the elite and wasn’t sure what the different was for others in the other end in game n stuff. So again. Thanks. I’m loving how ya can play your own music from ya phone wile cranking out a game at the same time also! But as soon as I went to talk to someone in game I don’t think they could hear me. But maybe they just didn’t reply lol. It has randomly stopped and turned off a couple times for me also. And the in game mute mic thing doesn’t always work when I get a call. So that’s kinda weird also. But ether way I’m very impressed with the elite. Wish they had the full controls of the game to mic balance and all that stuff on the headset instead of on the console software though. But that’s ok. Not a deal breaker
I really hope the Playstation link adapter (aka dongle) can pair with Pulse 3d headphones. Especially for those who have lost the original dongle that came with the Pulse 3D; making the headphone pretty much useless unless : / Happened to me ! Lost the dongle during a move and had to buy a brand new set.
As far as for the PSVR2, you first have to put on the pulse elite headset and then the VR over top of that which I found myself having to adjust my headset a little more than often but the sound was truly amazing. At the end of the day I ended up just going with the pulse explore earbuds which I didn't even think I'd like but man was I wrong once I downloaded the update and got the EQ up and running along with the correct ear tips because the ones Sony provided weren't good at all the earbuds sounded amazing. All in all I don't think you could lose either way. Also not to mention the earbuds tend to handle bass better than the headset does which was a surprise to me but I found to be true.
16:31 I got a plat in that game (Death Stranding) but I don't remember having that car at all. Was that car part of a DLC or something? Or have I just completely forgotten about it? I do remember using a motorcycle and a truck, though.
It's called the Roadster. Part of the Director's Cut version of the game. I think you had to get the best time on one of the race tracks in order to unlock it.
@@TAGibby Ah, thank you. So it was in the director's cut edition. For a minute there, I thought that clip was from the sequel- before realizing the sequel isn't coming out anytime soon. :p
I don't play any online games (though I'm tempted to wade into Helldivers II), so the microphone does nothing for me, but WOW the quality of that sound in comparison to the others is remarkable. Well done, Sony. For now, I have an old pair of Beats Studio 3 that I plug into my controller and they work remarkably well for my needs. Maybe one day I'll bite the bullet and grab them, but they're not high on my priority list.

@MrSitallewal83agreed man I’m sending mine back to and sticking with my Pulses. Even playing around with the EQ’s I just prefer the 3D sound more. The elites can be piercing and is just an uncomfortable sound imo.
I used to wear my Pulse 3D until I bought the Inzone H7, the difference was night and day, not only the H7 has a ridiculous long battery, it is by far the most comfortable headphone/headset I ever used (and I have over 30 headphones from various brands/prices). I've been looking around and waiting for a sale on a Inzone H7 so I could have a second one, but maybe I should consider the Pulse Elite now🤔.
Very much so. I purchased some Razer Kaira Pros, and after tweaking the EQ they sound much much better than my son's Steelseries Nova 7's - a headset that before these Pulse Elites was lauded as the best in the price range.
I wish there was a blacked out version of these. I like they match the aesthetics of the ps5 but for those of us that went with the blacked out panels and controllers, just like it to be all matchie matchie 🤓
My Pulse 3D cup pleather wore out and flaked real bad but I was able to replace the cups with new ones. It’s not looking like this is an option with my Elites, bit concerning

@MrSitallewal83I think the Elite is farrrr more comfortable. The memory foam and the fact that the cuffs have give allows me to wear them all day with no issue. The Pulse were mainly worse because I wear glasses, they squeezed my ears into them.
I really like the Elites.
Good timing, I was just getting ready to do some research on these.
Me too.
Holding that button also mutes all system audio, too"
This is a Dualsense feature and it works with any headset you have.
I have the puls 3d, and if I try to use the mute button on the dualsense it tells me that it is inactive while the pulse 3d is connected.

Hands down, the BEST review of these headphones. Great work!
Excellent review. Really appreciate the comparisons. Even mentioned the material coming undone, that’s what happened to my Pulse 3d and the only reason I’m considering getting anything.
I didn't know they acquired Audeze makes these more attractive for sure
Superb review. The mic comparison was such a good thing to do. Thank you.
Probably one of the better reviews I've seen. Great job.
He said…”no,I do not need new headphones, this ones sound just fine “
His current model it’s a 2000-2004 Sony MDR CD380 with about 5-6m of cable.Practically my old headphones from my gaming experience.
Thanks for mentioning the maintenance aspect. My Pulse 3D fell from 2 feet and snapped and the leather came off the cup.
I came on UA-cam expecting to spend hours watching different reviews on this headset, good thing I clicked on yours first! Best review I’ve seen in a long time!
It's nice Sony offers official stand/mount files for the charger if you have a 3D printer. Printed the desk stand last night.
No what nice would’ve been was including that plastic in the box because people gave them $150+ already.
@@IIIIIIIllIIIl nobody is including a stand with their headset lol
@@JimmyHACK box is big enough, it’d fit in there easily.
I was waiting for someone I trust too review it
Great review!
@@TheJusticeLeaguehow the fuck do I change chat and game audio
@@bigwiteonebigwite1125 Triple press the mute button. Then you can change chat and game audio balance.
Always on the money with these reviews, even more excited for my own headset to ship now. Those melissa cameos 🐈⬛🥰
Being a headphone aficionado i am not only impressed with the pulse elite but deeply impressed with them
The sound quality is so high that it gives some $1000 audiophile headphone a run for their money.
It trashes all gaming headsets out there it plays at a different league.
Here is my headphone collection so you know what i am coming from ( beyerdynamic mmx 300,beyerdynamic T1, sennheiser Hd800s, Sony MDR-z1r, T+A solitaire p-se)
As someone who doesn't like a ton of bass, for 150 bucks, these are a steal.
He probably won’t, he’s a Pony. 😂
I returned 4 sets because of connection issues.
I had the same issue. Took the trash right back to the store. Unacceptable. They dropped the ball here.
Using Pulse Explore and 3D sound is amazing.
The Pulse Elite works with my PSP Go and PS Vita, and it sounds pretty good as well! I think that it's a pretty good headset overall!
The setup i use for about 5 years is the beyerdynamic mmx 300 + the g6 soundblaster soundcard. Highly recommended.
Bro i use Sony MDR V7 plus Sound BlasterX g5

A very good review to make a good decision. Comparison, no bias, test with footage! Thank you!
This is exactly what I wanted to see. Great honest review, thank you
For the hanging you can also go with M3 strips on the top of the hanger to mount under a desk etc. which might make hidding cables easier.
I think Melissa needs her own set! Nice review dude
got these and still returned to pulse3d. more balanced sound, better comfort for me(no vacuum/heartbeat effect), better controls
This really gave me a good understanding of what to buy. I’ve been looking to buy a headphones and seeing which ones are great thanks man.
Same man. Theres probably a lot of people interested in these but unsure if they’re worf it
Amazing review I'm getting the pulse elite as a upgrade from the pulse 3D and this vid definitely helped, earned a sub
Great Review. These peeps are correct the best review of these on YT🤦♂️
The mic seems considerably better than the other options
I Picked up the 3D’s a few months ago. I should have waited, but I’ll definitely upgrade eventually.
I had to take mine back constant disconnects and the head band keep getting hung in max position. They guy at Best Buy said he had five returns of them already because of the disconnects
I have the PlayStation "New Gold" headset from the PS4 gen from 2017 or something so would this be a big step up?
This pulse 3d elite beats the high end headset in the market.
im all for planar magnetic drivers but that design is something else lol
Great review! Been enjoying my Elite since I got it.
Great review Mystic. What driving game is that at 16:34? Looks really interesting.
Great Pulse Elite PS5 review!
Hey Mystic, you should make a video about the PSP GPS accessory that still works til this day
Ryan should easily have 5 million subs by now
I really hope the Playstation link adapter (aka dongle) can pair with Pulse 3d headphones. Especially for those who have lost the original dongle that came with the Pulse 3D; making the headphone pretty much useless unless : /
Happened to me ! Lost the dongle during a move and had to buy a brand new set.
Still rockin my old Astro a50 gen 3 from I think 2017? Battery isn't as great as it once was but I still love how comfortable it is.
I'm curious how the other Sony headphones, like WH-1000 XM4 and XM5 work on ps5
What a difference of the sound with the new Pulse Elite 👍
Any thoughts on PSVR2 compatibility/comfort? Great review, cheers!
Thanks Ryan it was an awsome review.
I just want them to release a black version.
Thanks for the review.
The PS4 and everything with it controller, headsets etc was so much better looking
For sure the pulse elite hands on best microphone
Great mic test

@MrSitallewal83can you elaborate?
@MrSitallewal83agreed man I’m sending mine back to and sticking with my Pulses. Even playing around with the EQ’s I just prefer the 3D sound more. The elites can be piercing and is just an uncomfortable sound imo.
@@kinghoff316 damn that's sad to hear
I used to wear my Pulse 3D until I bought the Inzone H7, the difference was night and day, not only the H7 has a ridiculous long battery, it is by far the most comfortable headphone/headset I ever used (and I have over 30 headphones from various brands/prices). I've been looking around and waiting for a sale on a Inzone H7 so I could have a second one, but maybe I should consider the Pulse Elite now🤔.
Thanks for the great review
Yet again you knock it out of the park - unlike the rest of the vids on UA-cam. Thank you for comparing it directly to the pulse 3d
Cool video & cool headset, thanks.
Just to clarify, you do, or do not have to plug the USB dongle into the ps5?
Eq settings are also important. Good headphones with poor eq set up may make good headphones sound bad, and vice versa you get the point..
Pulse Elite for ps3 continues being the best PS branded headset
