If you play on your portal alot I recommend them. For the ps5 not so much from what I've been reading. I've never tried to hook them up to the ps5 so idk but they're great with the portal and my phone.
My brother got a pair of these at its launch and so far he's had many issues that he's told me about for one since day one. He was unable to pair them to his PS portal although able to pair them to his PS5 and cell phone. Also, after update on the PS portal he said he was able to pair them occasionally but still not consistent connection. Third, as of just last week he's told me that his charging case no longer charges his headphones and had to call Sony about replacing. So I'd say although they are a dope product, they still aren't quality controlled to the point. I could recommend getting a pair just yet. Also the case is huge in my opinion so I don't own a pair myself and I'm an audio file. I'd say the quality are pretty decent, but still I wouldn't recommend just yet

Great review mate! I on the other hand just cannot trust Sony with another earbuds, especially after the battery issue across WF-1000XM4 and WF-1000XM5. They never issued a proper statement to aknowledge the issue and my batteries died after 18 months of use. The Pulse Explore are giving me the same vibes unfortunately...
As someone that just got the pulse explore, you do need a good fit. Initially i have used the medium-larger tips that comes with it, but i also got a Comfy tips, and it provides a much better sealing. I really like the sound signature of it. Have been using it to listen to music while working out.
I needed new earbuds. I opted for these because I want to get a Portal someday and I'll be prepared for when that time comes. As far as earbuds go, they are very nice, but I do wish they could control the volume of devices connected via Bluetooth. The volume buttons don't do anything when connected to my phone or tablet.
I REALLY want to know what's going on with the Audio Mix slider for the Pulse Elites (and at 4:02, it looks like the earbuds don't have it either). The 3D Pulse allowed me to turn down the screaming tweens I merc and my loud mouth squadmates without turning down the game sounds. WHY IS THIS ABSENT IN THE NEWEST PRODUCTS FOR SONY'S SOUND?
you didn't mention how much better these are for vr2 than the overhead ones, or that older pulse stuff wont work with the new dongle, or how incredibly light they are. also swap to foam tips, the default things are flimsy AF.
Would perhaps having the link adapter in the front of PS5 help rather than the back 10:03 On another note, I have the Explore for use with my Portal, and I love them ☺️
I have the Pulse explore (dog chewed one, so it doesn't work now) and just bought the inzone buds, and the inzone buds are wayyyyyyyyyy more comfortable, I can wear them for hours with no fatigue. The Pulse make the inside of my ear itchy and a bit sore after a couple hours, and when it comes to any buds comfort is top of my list. I don't have LE audio on my Samsung s21 ultra so I have to use the dongle on my phone which isn't that annoying, but when I upgrade my phone next time then I'll make sure I get one with it. The dual connectivity with the pulse (game and music/phone calls) is nice but to be honest with you not having it, I don't miss it with the inzone. I'm on PC now so the inzone are better there, the pulse I wouldn't get if you're not on PlayStation because you can only adjust the EQ through the PS, where I can use the inzone app on my PC for those buds. Comfort alone it's no contest, inzone all the way, if that's not a big thing for you because you only game an hour at a time and you have mostly PS equipment then the pulse might be a better choice for you. Also the battery life being double than the Pulse at almost 12 hours is a bigger convinence than you think.
I just don’t understand why the new PS5 slim seems to be backwards with Sony’s new technology. Why wasn’t PS Link built into the new PS5 for example? It feels like it could of been, but it wasn’t. That’s fine, but then why make the new adapters USB-A? And the nice 10 foot cord that comes with the Edge controller, which I love by the way, but the cord is USB A as well. Why not include a USB C to USB C cable. Both models of PS5 have USB C on the front, but the slim model doesn’t have USB A on the front, so all these adapters or cords have to be plugged in the back, which is honestly a pain. It just feels backwards and not well thought through.
the microphone test on the earbuds sounded just as good as the mic you use for the you tube video and to me there wasn't much if any difference and I thought that was superb because when you tested the elite headset mic that sounded like a typical headset mic that always sounds like your in a cockpit in a plane, so what ticked my boxes were the mic sound and as you said the earbuds sound fantastic (I think you said that twice) so would I purchase them based on your review, absolutely because I would only use them for the ps5 and nothing else and em well is that not what they are made for? Enough said. Good review
I noticed your camera has a red dot in the middle upper left corner when you switch to look at yourself or the headphones. Just thought you would want to know if you see this comment!
Glad Sony has finally had caught up with the industry standards on audio. I’m really interested in the earbuds even though I have dual system headphones that are great too.
I had an awful experience with these buds. Long story short, I returned them and got the inzone buds- NO REGRETS! Best gaming buds I think anyone could experience!
Lots of very good info in this video to keep in mind. Now I want some questions answered by some owners in the comments: How’s the sounds quality compared to, say, AirPods Gen 2? Does music sound good (especially when used alongside in-game audio?) can I tell in a game whether I’ve got someone behind me?
Ryan, try the Sony Inzone buds, they are the same dongle concept via the USB C. They sound way better then the explore. It's crazy that sony is releasing these for the PS5 with a dull output. I was expecting something more robust. But they flop. I love my inzone buds.
Es verdad que se desconectan, pero después de una actualización a mi ya no me dio el problema de desconectarse solos, después de esta actualización se soluciona el problema
I think I'll stick to the soundcore VR P10's I've got when it comes to earbuds. Less than half the price and they do the same job, Portal connectivity aside (don't have). The charger lasts longer and it has a usb c dongle for minimal latency. Great for handheld Switch play. The Pulse Elite however... I'm still rocking the PS branded headset from before the Pulse 3D, forget the name, but it's due for an upgrade.
The pulse headphones make my head hurt so bad because it squeezes around my ears and I wear glasses. My main question with the earbuds is do they connect to ps5 without needing a separate Bluetooth adapter or something. Also someone mentioned there’s no mute button on the earbuds. Would the mute button on the ps5 controller still mute them? And lastly does it have noise cancellation?
I've been through 2 gold headsets, so I appreciate ps link, since when the headphones or earbuds are done for I could still use the dongle. I'm looking to buy a ps portal for black friday or xmas, and the explore as well.
-Noise cancellation is for cancelling your noises like eating and drinking and this works superbly -I have solid connection with PS Portal - if you have connection drop outs on your PS5, it’s due to overheating from hot air from your PS5, just move the dongle to the front and you should have no problems Those earbuds sound terrible for normal music, which for that price, is just unacceptable I wish there was also noise cancellation for ambient sound for the user and not just a noise the user is making. They as annoying uncomfortable. Bought them as I travel a lot. Otherwise I would buy Pulse Elite 3/5.
My right earbud disconnects and crackles a lot. I've reset the buds, dongle and charging case. Based on the amount of people I've seen on reddit with the same complaints I would not be surprised if there was a recall or class action lawsuit.
Yeah... no. Avoid the Pulse Explore buds. Average audio for gaming. Awful for music, video, and pretty much everything else. The InZone Buds provide far better audio quality and bass (which is severely lacking in these) no matter how much you adjust the buds or EQ settings. Plus, they're fiddly and are nowhere near as comfortable to wear as the InZones. Plus, the overall volume is lower on the Pulse Explores, and then there's the frequent disconnection issues when using with PSVR2 (at least on one bud).
Just brought these, mostly got gaming so not too bothered about not sounding as good for music. Got tired of the black fake leather coating starting to peel off on EVERY headset I’ve owned so far after a few years.
I just put into Amazon for a pair of these. I went pretty deep into the PS5 ecosystem. I love my PSVR2 and I got a pair of headphones with them, then I remembered how much I dislike over ear headphones. I overheat very easy while me ears are covered so I am an earbud man. I already own a pair of Airpods Pro 2nd gen and those are my daily drivers. I sought a method to connect them to my PS5 and got a device to do it from Amazon for about 20$. Unfortunately it didn't work out, the sound quality was TERRABLE. No bass whatsoever. For whatever reason the device didn't talk well with the Airpods. However I did discover how much I love using earbuds with VR. They where so much better than the headphones, I wasn't overheating anymore. So it's earbuds all the way for me. I sure hope these do what I hope they do.
My main problem is the connectivity. They will just disconnect and I can't reconnect without having to unplug and replug in the link adapter. As for the earbud tips. I use my Beats Powerbeats3 earbud tips. They are way more comfortable. If you have spare comfortable earbud tips from other headsets like Beats or Skullcandy. I'd highly recommend using those.
if you connect the dongle to usb c port using a usb a to usb c converter it will work flawlessly. mine and may others on reddit worked after doing that
Warning to all that are thinking of buying these DONT, my right earbud completely crapped out the other day for absolutely no reason and I still can’t get sound out of it, not to mention the constant disconnection issues these things have, let this be a warning these things are not worth 200+ dollars PS dropped the ball BIG TIME on this one.
There is still no stereo balance control on this consoles! I have hearing damage in one ear and it’s hard to believe such a basic accessibility feature is missing.
Could you do a video on how these new headphones work in conjunction with the DualSense Edge? I have the base over ear headset but I can’t lower the volume of those via my Edge.
I've been using my galaxy live buds on my Ps5. Been debating on getting the pulse explore? Would there be that much of a difference? I guess the biggest drawback would be not being able to access 3D audio. Galaxy buds support it but the ps5 doesnt support the buds. I connect my buds to the tv. Worth the switch up or should i just stick to my buds?

i remember been excited for the pulse 3d only for my friends to say i sound like i was under water, they do sound great, but my ears got sweaty fast, & the mic was out of this world trash ended up going back to wired with the pc38x havent looked back since
Agreed my friend told me I sounded like absolute dog water and should just go back to my headphones
A solid honest review. Couldn't ask for more.
I Have The Earbuds and l am Happy With Them
Really like mine. Suggest going into settings and EQ adjust the bass etc. makes a big difference.
This video is clutch since I am considering buying these this week
I wouldnt
If you play on your portal alot I recommend them. For the ps5 not so much from what I've been reading. I've never tried to hook them up to the ps5 so idk but they're great with the portal and my phone.
@@jbonnar701 I notice that after buying them they really kinda suck with the ps5
@@ZBatt1 too late lol
Thanks for Pulse Explore review!
Okay, the Pulse Elite's mic sounds a lot better than what DankPods portrayed it to be.
Try screaming about Vegemite to see if the microphone holds up.
He used Bluetooth connection instead of the dongle I assume.
Damn you have no clue how much I appreciate your honest take on the buds
I am surprised by how many checboxes it did Not check. I kinda wanted to grab these as a daily + gaming combo but I'll have to skip
Got nothing ear 2s for confort and quality on the go, and for gaming the hyperX cloud alpha, a great half wireless? Headset in a budget.
Once those give me issue's I might consider the new pulse headset if only beacuse of the respect I had for Audeze before the purchase
Absolutely awful connection issues with these too. I went ahead and moved back to the Pule 3D. Zero issues there and the sound quality is good enough.
The chat quality was absolute trash. Not worth $200
This is why I hope moving forward they have that technology built into the consoles like the PS five Pro and the PS six etc.
As someone that just got the pulse explore, you do need a good fit. Initially i have used the medium-larger tips that comes with it, but i also got a Comfy tips, and it provides a much better sealing.
I really like the sound signature of it. Have been using it to listen to music while working out.
Thank you for the review. Been considering picking these up to use with the Portal.
Impeccable timing for this video.. mine are arriving today
I hope you enjoy them! :)
think twice before buying, OK what other "earbuds" should i buy that work as a mic and speakers for PS5?
AFAIK these are the only earbuds for that
I REALLY want to know what's going on with the Audio Mix slider for the Pulse Elites (and at 4:02, it looks like the earbuds don't have it either). The 3D Pulse allowed me to turn down the screaming tweens I merc and my loud mouth squadmates without turning down the game sounds. WHY IS THIS ABSENT IN THE NEWEST PRODUCTS FOR SONY'S SOUND?
I was checking this last two months before getting one. Ended up gotten myself airpod pro 2nd gen and external dongle to make this work
you didn't mention how much better these are for vr2 than the overhead ones, or that older pulse stuff wont work with the new dongle, or how incredibly light they are. also swap to foam tips, the default things are flimsy AF.
I think you might want to use a whiter light when showing the product, the slightly orange-ish colour scheme is a bit off
Would perhaps having the link adapter in the front of PS5 help rather than the back 10:03
On another note, I have the Explore for use with my Portal, and I love them ☺️
I have the Pulse explore (dog chewed one, so it doesn't work now) and just bought the inzone buds, and the inzone buds are wayyyyyyyyyy more comfortable, I can wear them for hours with no fatigue.
These should of been bundled and included with the PSVR2!
I dont know why i watch these on products ill never buy. Guess they are accurate and well done.
Glad Sony has finally had caught up with the industry standards on audio. I’m really interested in the earbuds even though I have dual system headphones that are great too.
I had an awful experience with these buds. Long story short, I returned them and got the inzone buds- NO REGRETS! Best gaming buds I think anyone could experience!
love your content!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of very good info in this video to keep in mind. Now I want some questions answered by some owners in the comments:
How’s the sounds quality compared to, say, AirPods Gen 2? Does music sound good (especially when used alongside in-game audio?) can I tell in a game whether I’ve got someone behind me?
Ryan, try the Sony Inzone buds, they are the same dongle concept via the USB C. They sound way better then the explore. It's crazy that sony is releasing these for the PS5 with a dull output. I was expecting something more robust. But they flop. I love my inzone buds.
I hated the og eartips but once I got 3rd party tips, it felt comfortable and sounded great. Very good accessory for the ps5 and portal.
You said that there are better opions? Which others could be? 🎧
The Pulse Elite mic is also the same as the explore and original pulse 3d headset.
Ryan, if you predominantly play at home do you recommend the explore or the elite ?
The pulse headphones make my head hurt so bad because it squeezes around my ears and I wear glasses. My main question with the earbuds is do they connect to ps5 without needing a separate Bluetooth adapter or something. Also someone mentioned there’s no mute button on the earbuds. Would the mute button on the ps5 controller still mute them? And lastly does it have noise cancellation?
That star power album tho 🔥
Consider using a usb extension cord to move the adapter further from the source of interference.
I've been through 2 gold headsets, so I appreciate ps link, since when the headphones or earbuds are done for I could still use the dongle.
I'm looking to buy a ps portal for black friday or xmas, and the explore as well.
@Mystic I want those but they are expensive. I am gonna try and get them sometime this year.
The Monsters MVP Carbon headset was probably the best i ever used. That was back on ps3 as well.
-Noise cancellation is for cancelling your noises like eating and drinking and this works superbly
-I have solid connection with PS Portal
- if you have connection drop outs on your PS5, it’s due to overheating from hot air from your PS5, just move the dongle to the front and you should have no problems
Those earbuds sound terrible for normal music, which for that price, is just unacceptable
I wish there was also noise cancellation for ambient sound for the user and not just a noise the user is making.
They as annoying uncomfortable.
Bought them as I travel a lot.
Otherwise I would buy Pulse Elite
3/5.
My right earbud disconnects and crackles a lot. I've reset the buds, dongle and charging case. Based on the amount of people I've seen on reddit with the same complaints I would not be surprised if there was a recall or class action lawsuit.
It's weird that I can use any Bluetooth headphones on my Switch, but have to use the Pulse headphones for the PS5.
I was hoping for something better cuz I need new earbuds. I was thinking about buying these.
2:12 didn’t expect to be rizzzed up during this video but here we are. 😳
Once I saw the price I only had to think once
Yeah...
Plus, the overall volume is lower on the Pulse Explores, and then there's the frequent disconnection issues when using with PSVR2 (at least on one bud).
i wish in a future update the onscreen battery indicator would be more than just 3 blocks. It has way too much uncertainty.
Caught a pair on StockX for $125 🙌🏾
There are amazing with equal setting
I'd highly recommend using those.
if you connect the dongle to usb c port using a usb a to usb c converter it will work flawlessly. mine and may others on reddit worked after doing that
Thank you.!!🙏 ❤
So.. I need in-ears for PSVR2.. should I buy this?
Do they actually work when the PS Link USB is connected to a computer?
I knew this video was gonna be 17 minutes
do they work for ps4?
I've been using my galaxy live buds on my Ps5. Been debating on getting the pulse explore? Would there be that much of a difference? I guess the biggest drawback would be not being able to access 3D audio. Galaxy buds support it but the ps5 doesnt support the buds. I connect my buds to the tv. Worth the switch up or should i just stick to my buds?
My pulse 3D sound just fine and fit with the psvr2
So are they good for cod mw3 multiplayer?
