    "Robopunk" - Henry Rollins. Anyway, badass. Thx for sharing. So little is known about Macias but Henry and the Another State of Mind documentary has laced many of us up, who weren't in that time and place, and never heard of John.

    Cool Story. I got into punk in 1985 and went to my first show at the Balboa Theatre in Jan of 1986.. I also , got the opportunity to go to The Olympic Aud In March of 1986 to see Fear and DI. I remember those punk days, In the summer of 1989 I got the opportunity to see Circle One at a club at Hacienda. I remember seeing John singing and giving it his all. I remember that after the band stop playing a song, John stayed motionless looking at the ground with the mic to his mouth. He was sweating and showed and an angry face. As I look at him for 3 to 5 seconds in the state of mind he was in. He notice that I was looking at him. He turn his attention at me with a look like "what are you looking at". I kind of felt a bad vibe about this guy and quickly turn away. Years later I found out that he was a religion fanatic and had mental issues. These rumors came from the people who know him. So please don't think that I am the one making these rumors to be true. But, anyways. when I heard that he was killed and the rumors about his actions in the past, It made sense to me to believe that he was a very interesting guy.Also another note, John Macias was in the beginning of the Punk movement till its end. He love the Movement and he was the movement itself in Los Angeles. Althnough I heard good and bad things about this guy, I am lucky to have seen him play.

      +Mrfrairec Apparently John did have mental issues that had a lot to do with his mood swings. I have also heard recently about him being a religious fanatic. Thanks for watching and I will shoot you an email.

    Also, when I moved to Burbank in 1987, I began to run into guys from BPO(Burbank Punks Org). These guys were not your traditional punks as I was. They were more like rich suburban kids that like to party. They were more like a party crew than a punk gang. None of them listen to Hard Core Punk like I did. Their home base school was John Burroughs High School. But, I understand that by 1987 the scene had change drastically. Especially when beastie boys ill communication came out. I remember that every kid in the nieghborhood had a stolen VW symbol hanging from their neck.

    My brother told a story about a riot that happen at the olympic. He stated that the punks did not want to leave so the management at the olympic called the LAPD to clean house. He said that the LAPD came in from the big side door and began beating PUNKS up. He said that he ran out through the front of the Olympic auditorium and saw the LAPD beating PUNKS up as they ran out. I wonder if this is the same show where John Macias help the little kid getting beat up by the LAPD.

    What an awesome video! I did not expect this at all but it was really cool to hear your stories and the person you knew that most of us have hardly heard about aside from Henry Rollins talking about him and his mentioned in the NOFX book. It would be really great if somebody would make a documentary about that scene. I have seen the Clockwork Orange County. There definitely needs to be more like that. I know there's so many more stories out there. I wish I lived there so I could make some films and have stories like that

    Cool story man... I've read several LA Punk books where they mentioned how tough and intimidating he could be. Like if someone stared at him the wrong way then they would have ass handed to them. If my memory serves me right, he was the head of a cliq/gang called, "The Family."

    • @vinylrichie007
      @vinylrichie007  7 років тому

      I don't remember the name but he had a gang that followed him. He started organizing shows under the Punx name. They would go to other shows and cause problems. A lot of times outside which would result in the cops coming and shutting down the show.

      @@vinylrichie007Rollins is an asshole and a bully. He has a good side though!!!! Like, if you watch his videos on you tube, he is super cool in many videos and a jerk in many others. It's like he's got two personalities!!!!!! I don't like when he's putting down other bands and musicians. That's not cool, that's bulling. And his response to Johnny Rotten after Henry's humiliation on that forum, was absolutely terrible and unnecessary!!!!! I really can't believe how many people look up to Henry and say how great he is and go to his shows........!!!!! By the way i don't believe that Danzig would be impressed by someone acting like a jerk.

    I read the book "Discos out and Murders in", and I really cant verify if any of it is true about the Gangs. I got into punk in 1985, the only gangs I remember seeing at shows were the suicidals and south bay skins. I really didn't see a lot of violence. I did see one on one fights but never full scale gang on gang. What is your take on the gang violence mention in the book?
