Super helpful & really clear :) I've been a dressmaker for over a decade & managed to avoid having to put in an invisible zip in all those years!! Just put in my first invisible zipper. It was so easy!! Thanks so much Debbie :)
Thank you for this amazing tutorial! For the first time in 4 years, I actually sewed a completely invisible zipper. I'm in awe. Can't thank you enough!
How lovely to see an invisible zipper tutorial that shows below the zipper..................and no puckers or bumps. I am comfortable putting in these zippers, but always watching different methods, to search for perfection every time. Thanks Deby, great use of the adjustable zipper foot, which I have. Great tutorial!
Awesome video instruction. I just whipped out four pillow forms today for my husband's boat pillows, installed invisible zippers and I have to say they really do look spectacular. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us. It's much appreciated!
Thanks to you I have put in my first invisible zipper. ( sat with your video next to my machine and worked along with you. I am so pleased with the result and thank you so much for once again increasing my confidence. Lynn.x
Thank you so much! This is the BEST VIDEO!! on sewing an invisible zipper on UA-cam!!! And I have watched lots of them. This is direct and easy to follow. Thank you!!!
Well explained. I'm use to putting zips in a lots of different ways, but this way is so so simply and the way it was explained will be really good for beginners to grasp, well done. with clear vision and not overly explain. This is how we do them in the factory. Bless you ❤️
Great Tutorial, really enjoyed. I learned to insert zippers the "old school" way and for some reason resisted to learn how to insert the invisible zipper. You make it so plan and easy to duplicate the technique. Thanks for actually completing all the sewing steps as well. Great Job!
Thank you soo much for this mega amazing & clear tutorial. I started at class yesterday doing one side of the zip and tonight looked at it and said "time to search UA-cam!" I am a total beginner (5 x 1 hour lessons) and your tutorial is awesome.🍹
So glad you liked it Rhonda. I'm still learning new sewing skills all the time, and when I feel I have mastered something, I share it on the site so there are always new tutorials being added. Thanks for sharing.
Great tutorial had a complete brain freeze on what way to place my zip edge and you helped refresh my memory. Only been a few weeks since I made a load of cushions this way!! Long week in the soft furnishing business.......thanks 😊
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm planning to put one in my the first time and am nervous. Your video makes me a bit less nervous. However I wish you had used a fabric that had obvious right and wrong sides. I couldn't keep track of which side to sew the zipper on.
I was looking for a tutorial on an industrial sewing machine so it wasn't too useful for me anyway haha, but I must note the absolutely beautiful camera work. Very very nice. If I had been using a home sewing machine I would have loved this video.
How interesting that others found it easier to insert a start zip as I did just the opposite. I watched the tutorial because I was interested in seeing how someone else did it. Very clear instructions Deby, as usual. I do like the idea of pressing on the seam line rather tan marking. Curious about your start point. I always scotch my start down a couple of MM so the facing or waistband doesn't pucker at that spot.
Ooh thank you! Now I know what I did wrong this afternoon. My "invisible" zip is just not invisible and I could not figure out why but now I know NOT to catch the seam allowance on the back. Great tutorial thanks a lot!
Thanks Debbie for this video. I've never done this before. Also, I do have a set of Universal Zipper Feet. They come in 3 colours. Can you give me some info on which of these I should use for putting on the Invisible Zip. They are red, blue and yellow. I'd appreciate it very much if you can help me out. Thanks again for the video.
Hopefully I can figure out the finish without an adjustable zipper foot. Eek! Thank you for the very clear video. I subscribed hoping to learn more tips from you in the future!
I have the same invisible zipper foot, but seems the needle on my Brother DZ2400 sewing machine can not position right through the hole. I am not sure how to use the zipper foot.
Can you make tutorial, sewing zipper invisible on skirt bias... Position in side seam... Because i need looking good shape in body or manequin...Thank you
:( I was almost completely done with my zipper, then I realized I put it in backwards moments after I serged it. I've sewn the zipper 5 times already. I'm only messing up because I'm stressed and this is my final project for my fashion class. I still have to put the bodice of the dress and the skirt of the dress together. I have to finish the lining on the skirt and make the off shoulder sash, then hem it. While also making embellishments on the dress because that's the main part of the project. And it's due next Wednesday because that's the last day of school. We had 3 weeks to do the project, but I can only do so much at home. TT_TT I need a vacation. I would have been done 2 weeks ago, but my teacher said I needed lining. The pattern I got didn't require lining. And I was broke, so I had to use an old sheet. I feel a little better now that I vented.
Yes I am afraid it take time to master this but just relax when you are doing it, watch the video and paused it every step to make sure you have it right, in no time you will ni longer need the video.
I succeed with that part of the project; my question now is how do I attach the zipper to the facing. The dress I'm making calls for a back zipper with facing. I'm lost! S.O.S.
I followed my pattern to the letter and of course the seam is already sewn. I can't undo it as it has a georgette top layer that has a french seam. Have you any suggestions as to how to sew in the zipper when the seam is already complete? Thanks.
Oh dear Joy, there is no easy answer to that one. Unpicking is the only way, unless there is another seam where you might be able to move the zip. Perhaps to a side seam instead? That is very annoying when you have a pattern with such an obvious error. I hope you'll write and tell the designer about it.
Deby Coles Yes I will. I have heard of this happening before with my searching for instructions on the invisible zippers. Update: After a lot of fiddling I got it in. Don't ask me how. But it's in and thanks to you I know to make sure the seam stays open.
Really nice clear instructions without endless unnecessary waffle. Thank you so much.
