    R.I.P.
    Melvin Franklin
    (October 12th,1942-
    February 23rd,1995)
    Can’t believe it’s been
    28 years since he passed.
But I’m taking what Theo said as
    a grain of salt.
I’m sure Melvin was aware of
    Ray taking his place
in the hope of him returning.
    Sadly,it wasn’t meant to be.

Dennis told a similar story. He said Blue told him, “Otis is trying to replace me and I’m not even dead yet!”
Thanks for asking these kinds of questions. These are the stories we don’t hear much about.

I don’t know how fair it is to go after Otis. At the end of the day, The Temptations is a business. Otis, being the leader of the group, has to make the hard the decisions to keep the business, their livelihood, going. When a promoter pays for an act, contractually, they’re paying for all members to be present. If only 4 of 5 Temptations show up, they could be sued. That is why David, and later Dennis, missing shows was such a big deal.

Okay I'm a repeat this again for you assholes that commenting Bullitsh about Otis
I said this in the full video of this mess
This is what's NOT gonna happen.
One: Melvin was aware of Ray stepping in for him to finish off the shows and that national anthem appearance
Two: Otis his family and Smokey were the ones who knew just how worse his health had become to where whether he had passed or not. He was retaining too.much water and his system was on the downside it gotten to where there was no way he could've continued.
Third: Melvin was at home when he fell into a coma and never regained consciousness. And the day he passed The Tempts made it to the hospital, but he was already gone. So. Nobody spoke to him in the hospital
Fourth: it was always acknowledged that the scene of his passing in the mini-series was not depicted how it actually happened. Otis has been said interviews AND in updated version of his book in CHAPTER 10!!!!
So let's get some real clarity here

When a promoter pays for an act, contractually, they are paying for all members to be present. If only 4 of 5 Temptations show up, they could be considered in breach of their contract. EXACTLY!
Bills still have to be paid,
your family has to be taken care of,
      and everything in between.
You can’t lose all that you’ve earned
      because one member doesn’t want
      to act right.
I’m very glad Otis has been keeping
it moving for all of these years.

Well otis was a selfish individual who cared about his own interests but like they say " AIN'T NOBODY COMING TO SEE YOU OTIS" Today's fans come for the songs because the core of the group is dead!

right maybe what David said about Otis was true

    • @myebbad
      @myebbad Рік тому +2

Wouldn’t it be more selfish to not wanting to be replaced if you’re sick and can’t perform?
Not to mention Melvin wanted to replace Glenn Lennard for Eddie Kendrick even after hearing that Eddie had no voice left.
The fact is they were like any other group with ups and down. Otis was no Angel obviously (especially with what he did to Richard Street) because no one is but his leadership keep the temps relevance through 3 main lead singer changes. Which is unheard of.
Plus Otis is the main reason the Temptations was introduced to a new generation. With his book that was adapted to a TV mini series/Broadway show he has revived all the great members of the Temptations. Without that happening, sure people would know the hits, but would we know the individuals behind the hits.
      Btw-Otis didn’t write the movie

The line about "Ain't nobody coming to see you Otis" was a line that the actor Leon made up. It was never said by ANY Temptation. Death is death. The way The Temptations organization is set up that the group will continue on long after they all pass. By the way The Temptation organization is not just 5 guys singing. Its the band, the road managers, the entertainment attorneys etc. The group despite the original members (they were only together for 4 years) still manage to sell out shows around the world over and over. Yesterday fans came because of the songs. The Broadway musical is sold out because of the songs and there is nobody from the group there. The songs will outlive them and also YOU! Once you got to sleep - (and you will) within 20 years of your passing.....nobody will care. But the Temptations songs will live forever!
