- PCGS grade reveal for my 1952 Proof Set!
I opened a supposedly sealed 1952 proof set earlier this year. You can see that video here:

• Opening a “Sealed” 195...
I had sent the silver coins for conservation, or what I called restoration, to try and improve the chances of getting decent grades.
The nickel is a contender for cameo designation…
Thanks for watching to see how it all turned out!!
great looking coins👍🥈
Thank you, my friend!! 👊
Nice coins bud. Fun to follow along. 👍👍
Thanks so much! These are the same coins I showed you at that crummy restaurant in Azusa lol It’s nice to have closure. I am happy overall. It could have been worse.
Crushed the like button! Excellent video and thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you, my friend. Great seeing you 👊
Thanks for another great video. Thanks for your honesty about seeing the grades before the video. Kevin
Thank you, my friend. I usually prefer to see the grades for the first time along with the viewer, but after flubbing the lighting on take 1, I had to fess up. I don’t think it would come off as genuine if I tried to sell it as a blind reveal. Appreciate you checking this out 👊
Pretty good grades for a 50 set .They are tough because of packaging. Thanks for sharing brother
Thank you, Brother. I’m happy overall. It’s always a crapshoot with the conservation. Didn’t have the desired effect but I think still better than when submitted.
Still some pretty decent grades over all my friend. Very nice collection, the 1867 3 cent is beautiful thanks for sharing
Thank you, Brother 👊 I’m happy with the ‘52 set. Was a learning experience. The 1867 3CS is definitely a fave. Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words
That trime is a thing of beauty!
Thank you so much! When I first began collecting 3CS I knew that I wanted a proof where the star really popped. Finally got one 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting. Means a lot 👊
That nickel looks cameo to me. Thanks for sharing this! Still solid grades!
Thank you! I thought the nickel had a chance at CAM. I’m happy overall. Thanks so much for watching
great video awesome coins
Thank you, my friend. Good seeing you. Belated Happy Thanksgiving
That’s some beautiful silver pours you have there 👍
Thank you so much! I never intended to leave them on display permanently but I enjoy seeing them too much to put them away 😂
Fun submission!
Thank you very much! 👊
Very entertaining to watch, so it was worth shooting this video twice! Love the three cent proof you have, nice coin. Too bad the Mint set missed the mark for the grades you wanted but they are still good coins, imo.
Thanks so much!! ☺️ I’m happy overall. I love having a piece of history. The first version had some fun moments but the lighting was really crummy. I am glad take 2 was entertaining to you. I could not have asked for nicer feedback. I truly appreciate it 👊
@CSAN excellent looking proof coins! If you want something done right, I guess you got to do it yourself. Restore yourself and save some $$$. :) Although you didn't hit homeruns with coins submitted this time around, the bonus round coins are out of the park proofs! Dang, those are SUPERB! One of my favorites from the bunch was 1872 3 cents proof coin. Wow...simply WOW!
Haha thank you, my friend!! I need to practice dipping before I attempt to pass one off to PCGS lol Appreciate you watching and your kind words. I dig that 1872 3CN too. It’s a stunner
A nice set anyway.
Thank you, Brother. Yup. Still happy overall. I need 1953 next
looks like a hair on the Cent back. Just under the grade, my life story!
Yup. I saw that too. Seems a strikethrough or something. I know your pain, day late and a dollar short…or one grade below the Mendoza line 😂 Thanks very much for watching and commenting. I’m way behind on replies and follow-up when people are thoughtful enough to send Christmas cards 😔 I owe you big time. Thanks for all you do! Wishing you the best in 2024!!
You are right that it is much more difficult to get good video of proofs versus unc’s.
Thank you! Very nice of you to concur. It’s a challenge. Lighting that works for the silver coins doesn’t always show the other coins so well. Thanks very much for watching 😀
I have some proof sets to send in, love the 3 cent nickel
Good luck with your submissions. I’m glad you liked the 3CN. It’s a beauty. Thank you. And, thank you for watching!
Nice Coins
Thank you!! Ride the Lightning🤘
That's one of the best albums
@@VincentCaporina absolutely. Toss up for me with …And Justice For All. Hard to pick a true fave. Master of Puppets can’t be left out lol
Thanks very much for watching
Some real shiners in there Buddy! I feel like the cent should’ve graded better I guess that rim stain was the killer?
Thank you, Brother. Yeah the Cent probably got knocked down because the fields weren’t clear and smooth. The packaging jacked it up. Only the nickel seems unscathed in that regard. Appreciate you checking this out 👊
I had a PF 69 , this was one of the top rated nickels and I couldn’t find any comparable nickels in any of the books. Now they had a PF68 and this one was priced at over $1000 dollars so I figured what the heck and sent it to Great Collections, who declares that they get the highest price for their coins. So here I am thinking that I should get over, at the very least, $1,500 dollars for it. When my check came back, the whole consignment went for a little over $1000. I thought that I should have gotten at the very least for the nickel, the amount of the entire check just for the nickel. But guess what they, at the very least , couldn’t tell a rarity from a common coin and obviously didn’t check the record books.
I would in my humble opinion, wouldn’t let them sell any coin.
Now this may sound like sour grapes but in all reality it should have sold for over a PF68. So if some of you think that I’m just a disgruntled customer, then you are right, but regardless I wouldn’t allow them to sell any of my coins.
Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry to hear how it worked out. I appreciate you stopping by 👊
How did the seated dime get a straight grade with all those polishing scratch’s all over it ? Do they go a little bit easier on the older coins ?
I’ll have to go back and double check but some scratches were definitely on the holder. There are some die polishing lines visible but they do not usually detract from the grade from what I’ve seen. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I’ll always write back even if a few days late 👊
One thing I learned from this video. Do not pay for restoration from pcgs. Also, Where did you get those pages from (to hold slabs in a notebook)?
Haha yup. I’ve attempted it several times now with limited success. If it’s just tarnish or undesirable toning they do okay. If there are spots, or if there is evidence of Mint packaging issues, there isn’t much they can do. The pages were from Amazon. They are called Lighthouse pages. They work well in 3-ring binders. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Do you send them in looking that good or do they clean them. I’m knew at this
Good question. The nickel and cent are unaltered. I did attempt to improve the appearance of the Dime, quarter and half by using the option called conservation. Sometimes older proof coins show discoloration from the packaging they were stored in. When you submit coins for grading, you can add conservation as an additional service. They supposedly safely attempt to remove residue and stains. Unfortunately, the process did not remove much of the damage. Thanks so much for watching 😀
Did you examine the coins with a critical eye before submitting?
My eye was most likely not critical at all! I knew I wanted to send the coins off to grading no matter what. Since I have the 1950 proof set in slabs, I figured I’d continue the tradition. I was curious whether the nickel would get cameo. My hopes were dashed lol
@@CSAN PCGS has dashed a lot of people’s hopes !
What’s the cost of grading coins
Thanks for watching! Coin grading with PCGS is around $35 per coin. Other companies like ANACS charge a little less.
Roosevelt's policies have long been a sore in our side. 😂 tax hikes, eliminating the Gold Standard, governmental regulation of the economy, and the biggest one DEBT lol
…to name but a few 😂
Thanks for watching 👊
