@@SilverStruck thank you so much, Sir! ☺️ It means a lot to know you enjoy them. I had a small collection of art bars before you threw down the GHB challenge gauntlet. If not for your challenge, I’d still have around seven bars 🤪
@@CSAN Just happy you are having fun with it! The one ounce bars are a good way to go with silver so high in price. Those 10 ounce bars we used to collect are 100+ more then we used to pick them up. I remember buying 10 ounce Engelhard P loafs for 180.00 each in 2018. I'll still stack the bigger bars but enjoy giving the wallet a break with buying 2-5 ounces at a time as well.
@@SilverStruck absolutely!! I was tempted to grab a 10 A-Mark oldie but goodie but went with 1 oz art bars instead. Seems more satisfying to have multiple pieces. 👍 Agree on the Nevada Coin Mart. Wanted it b/c it reminds of Silvertowne and the old west prospector theme. One and done on those haha

You started right off with a great bar, love anything silver or coin with a Buffalo/Bison. If I were currently in the collecting mode I think it would be cool to put together a collection of bars with wildlife designs. I like the Mother Lode mint as well, I use to sell bars from them but back then art bars were sold basically for a couple dollars over spot and not as a collectible. I hope you are able to add art bar (at the 7:10 mark) TYPE 8 (Shield design) to your collection. It looks so cool. Reminds me of one of (S-12 Bur's Shield - Die 201) my Civil War Tokens. Why would you spend the $ to get that Seated Liberty Half A&R graded? You didn't think it looked funny and cleaned? I wouldn't send a coin to be certified, that I think is valued under $200 and I had some idea it wasn't cleaned and the Grade. Lean to grade the coin type before you ask a professional "CONSERVATIVE" grading company.
@@jacksoxman9000 while I appreciate that you took the time to watch and comment, I don’t recall asking for opinions on whether it made sense to slab a coin that I suspected had been cleaned. Everyone has their own story in life. I routinely spend $40 and more for a bottle of wine with dinner. Spending $40 (in this case a free voucher included with my membership) to slab a coin that I enjoy looking at is no big deal. It’s probably best if you save your opinion for those that ask for it.
Pretty cool. The book was a great pickup.

You do know that collecting can become an addiction don't you my friend and you can tell you made it to that level when you find a cool old bar and say I don't know what it is but it seemed like something I should have. lol There was a lot of very cool design bars made in 925 silver back in the 70's and 80's. It would be a cool collection if you can find the rest of the bars from that set. Interesting that they are not listing those weights as troy weight. All silver, gold and other precious metals in this country are measured in troy weight regardless of the purity GD
@@GDSavingThePast guilty as charged, Sir! I’ve got all the afflictions. Nostalgic space nerd with a collector mindset 😂 I don’t want to get carried away with the Sterling but would add the Pioneer bar if I run across it. The weights are a mess for this listing. Those are very cool silver bars. I was living in Perth, Western Australia, when Sky Lab “returned to Earth” in July 1979. Bits of it landed in the desert and there was a cash prize of $10,000 for anyone who found the first verified bit of it.
@@coinstruck6079 thank you! Speaking of cool…your story is awesome!! Thankfully it landed in the desert and not the city. Thanks for sharing some cool history
The star was Engelhard
@@chassisresearchkid definitely more collectible. I was on the hunt for a Labor Day bar or any Great Lakes Mint bar so in this case the Engelhard was a throw in lol Thanks for watching and commenting
I live on the great lakes, and have never seen a one. Where was that minted? Thanks @@CSAN
@@chassisresearchkid apparently the original mint burned. They’re located in Mackinaw City Michigan
