How to Make a PORTABLE Transmission Cooler
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 кві 2023
- This is my home made DIY portable transmission cooler i will use in the pits between races. The hope is i can get pan trans temps down from 100C to 50C and be able to do more passes and keep the trans healthy for longer. This wont be for everyone, but for those tight on space, with big trans temps, and wanting to do more passes more often, then this one is for you!

Had a similar setup on a speedway car. I actually used a sports ice spray on the oil cooler to help drop oil temps a bit quicker.
Awesome as Always.. Really interesting vid.. Thx for sharing
I don’t need one, but I really want to build one now 🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️😂😂😂👌🏻
Nice work! $3000?!😅😂😂🤣
Seeing as your engine water is so cool, would a engine coolant to ATF cooler work well in this case?
Not sure on there price but could be good for taking out a bit of trans temp out on the return road.
hey broomie nice idea, but i would of used something alot larger even a a/c condenser but i guess you could dunk this smaller cooler you have in a esky with dry ice or ice water you could replace that tiny fuel pump with a holley blue. i use to use the blue to pump oil up to oil filler pipe fom the oil return of turbo on rotary engine when i would turbo a car and customer didn't want to pull engine out to remove sump and drill then weld a oil return in to sump they work well and trans fluid would be alot easy to pump than engine oil
Some do similar, quick fluid swap and get back in the queue while the other fluid cools.
Does the drill battery run pump and fan? And how well did it work. Thanks
Yes, worked perfect 👍🏻
How much psi was that lil pump. I found a Holley small pump is like 4-7psi and one that is 10 psi. Which one would be best. Thanks
@chadsims9257 this would be a little baby 40gph pump, and maybe 4 psi. The pressure doesn’t matter so much, whatever it flows is probably more important. Mine flows not that much, but also means because it’s flowing slow that the fluid is in the cooler for longer. Either of those pumps would be fine as long as they can handle the trans fluid.
Have you checked that pump will actually pump trans fluid?
That would be my concern, especially extremely hot trans fluid
Yes
Cool. Pretty sure I tried to pump trans fluid with one years ago and nothing happened!
@@chuxshed587 bud light?
Ultimately this is a bandaide. The car needs more cooler/better airflow
Trans ....im so sick of this lgbt rubish
