дуже дякую
I've been trying to learn Ukrainian on Duolingo and have been unable to hear the difference in words with and without soft signs. Your video is incredibly helpful and I finally got that aha feeling. Thanks so much I look forward to watching more of your videos.
It's almost like adding a subtle "y"(eng.) after the letters so it sounds a bit softer. Дякую!
Дуже Дякую!
Thank you for this, I have been struggling on the silence of ь for a while now!
Clear lesson. Thank you for the explanation and examples.
Thank you!!! I had such a hard time with this! An example for ц in english is hard to find, but maybe "Tsunami"!
Very good video. I have been struggling with the difference between hard and soft consonants and this video helped with your examples.
duolingo just told me ь should put tongue forward and upward but here I finally clearly understood how to make difference between with ь and without ь, thank you so much and wish Ukraine will win this war❤
This video was so clear! Дуже дякую'
Thanks!
Дякую!
Thanks for this; it’s very helpful to hear you go back and forth to show the difference.
Дякую
It's like when you put the J (yi) at the end of those letters
Very interesting, thank you 😊
That’s the symbol the IPA chart uses for the soft consonants.
It helped me a lot Дякую тобі
Great teacher
It sounds like a quick "i" sound at the each of each soft letter.
Дякую gorgeous.
Thank you so much for the information!
Very nice video thanks
Thank you!!
❤️🙏🙂
Your videos help me a lot. I started learning last month
For the ць sound it almost sounds like the sc sound in scene. Or the s in seen. The tip of the tongue touches the gum just behind the upper front teeth.
You are such a good teacher, and very inspiring!
The easiest way I've found to work with the soft sign is that it implies that your tongue goes to the roof of your mouth and not the front with normal pronunciations... It's worked 90% of the time
Thank you! This helps a lot (:
Брови ахуєнні...
Вуста тоже зачотні...
To me this sounds similar to the role of the H after N or L in Portuguese. Is it fair to say it's like that?
If you do not go into professional details, then we can assume that yes.
p.s. Either identical (judging by Wikipedia), or quite similar, which is even difficult to distinguish (judging by the Wiki dictionary). But these are super professional linguistic subtleties, we can assume that they are similar to each other in sound (I don’t hear any special differences from Russian, but in Russian they are similar to Portuguese, but not completely identical)
\\But the sound "ТЬ" sounds a little different than in Russian, because in Ukrainian it must be distinguished from "ЦЬ", while in Russian there is almost no soft "ЦЬ" and in Russian therefore "ТЬ" sounds like a cross between "ТЬ" and "ЦЬ". Or maybe this is a feature of the teacher's pronunciation and only on video?\\
In short, consider that yes - they sound almost the same.
Your voice is so beautiful.
When I look up the pronunciation and IPA lettering for дід I’m seeing that it’s a soft sound.
Great video, answer a lot of questions. Might I suggest the word, "Stew" for ць? Closest I could think of. I realize that it is Ts, but sounds quite close.
The letter Y plays a similar role in Hungarian. Well, the soft 'l' (ly) is replaced by 'j' by now, only a few dialects retained it. But Ukrainian soft 't' is practically identical to Hungarian 'ty' while Russian soft 't' is a bit closer to a soft 'c'.
Pay attention guys, ukrainians don't use dental alveolus for letters "т" and "д" like some english-spoken people when saying t and d (especially british). We use front top teeth for this. So our т sounds similar, but not like t from word "table".
And not only these sounds, but all the rest. These are just the most noticeable.
So in English there are words you can sound out, and words you can not. My question is, is there word in Ukrainian that you can’t sound out loud? Or can you sound out most of the words?
What are these words that do not sound? Do you mean swear words?
Alphabet only diffrence logat also diffrence alphabet
You should have put the words of your alphabets like how it actually pronounced so we won’t forget
Thank you for your answer but this is not true this is only story in something has been writen
Hello İнна!
As an example for the ць you could use the Italian pronunciation of the name of famous Rennaissance painter Tiziano Vecellio [ titˈtsjaːno veˈtʃɛlljo ]. In English they know him as Titian [ ˈtɪʃən ], but probably have heard the Italian pronunciation as well.
Similar, perhaps even better is Venezia [ ve'nɛttsja ] - Venice.
