It can be hard to do something custom like this unless you get into 5,10 or 20k units, but right?! When you can get that funding to do larger volumes it pays off.
@@processagresources if starting of as a brand with no funding other than my own savings, would you recommend I invest more money into the packaging to begin with or develop and improve on it further along? I’m very conflicted about this!

@@sbg1911 Did you see our video on the 'Seed packaging'? (Branding Minimalism/Sustainable Packaging video) It's probably the most sustainable I've ever seen that also great an amazing presentation all while protecting the product.
This was so satisfying to watch. I love the idea of having an overall “clean” look, like an all white packaging with pops of color. I agree with the “pick apart” comments of the box and overall it’s absolutely beautiful. What would you recommend for bath products, i.e. body butters and bath soaks? Just curious…

It's pretty cool to see all the different designs and just knowing that I love candles and I'm sure someone loves just collecting them by the way they look and these are very catchy👍👍
Good point. We see a lot of different brands do 'collections' with varying designs. When someone becomes a true fan of a brand, its natural for them to want more of the collections.

Would it be possible to design packaging that encourages reuse for storage? I feel when metal components are used in packaging (or hust really nice packaging in general), I feel it kind of a shame to throw it out.
Lauren, for sure! We are seeing a lot of packaging that is built to not be thrown away. What packaging do you have laying around the house that you've kept? Ask yourself why you have kept it around? Those are the questions major brands are asking themselves, is how they design packaging that people don't want to throw away. I have always kept premium and wood box packaging I have received and reused as storage compartments in drawers, etc.

I had an iPhone box housing my rechargeable batteries, but with the recent addition of my 18650 battery cells, I require something not so flammable now. My iPhone box is too small for the Polaroids though. 🤔 Wonder if I could fit a toothbrush and some toiletries in there though. Could make for a handy Go-Box. I actually don’t have many phone boxes. My iPhone 11 was my second phone I’d bought brand new. The rest were hand-me-downs or bought used. 😅 Probably one of my favorite cheap packagings was when I got my Zebralight flashlight. Much of the packaging you see on this channel thus far is packaging we have designed and manufactured. This one in particular isn't something we designed or had made.
Cool concept, but it’s one of those things that just adds to the cost without adding to the value of the product itself for the customer. Customization is a neat addition for sure. Terribly wasteful overall. I get it, it’s higher end and trying to sell the experience vs. the product itself, but the maximalism is counterintuitive to sustainability.

50-100 units would be considered a 'prototype' level volume for something custom like this. The design strategy, artwork + building just a handful of units would be so expensive that in my opinion wouldn't be worth it. If you need to start with that low of volumes - I would suggest something stock off the shelf to test and customize it with a really good artwork and design. You could also do a custom wood box as you can get a small wood shop to custom build something cool for you at really low volumes.
Yeah - I think one powerful thing they've done here is protect the product while creating a beautiful presentation. Would rather see it in a nice EVA than bubble wrap. They could have gone more sustainable by placing in a molded pulp for sure.
This cover looks awesome and beautiful but think how much garbage it creates just for look. One environment friendly candle and lots of hi dense paper which need to be utilized somehow. What percentage of the U.S. recycles 2020? - 32 percent. All other paper a special like this with plastic on it get burned and pollute. The recycling rate has increased from less than 7 percent in 1960 to the current rate of 32 percent in 2020. Is that worth it? Or just buy a candle without such waste of paper.
