FORGOTTEN C3 Corvette Gets Supercharged - PART 2 (Boost & Broken Parts!)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 жов 2020
- In this episode, I finished up the weiand 142 supercharger installation on the 1980 Chevrolet Corvette. I top it off with a Holley carburetor, which is boost referenced, and some sort of magical coil with extra lightning. Cut the exhaust off. Fresh AVgas, couple gauge things. Of course, a guy has to test on it a little bit before the competition the following day. Let's just say the test run didn't go as planned! Lead Foot City was kind enough to let me wrench in their fancy shop, which sure made the process a little easier on a guy.

This is one channel where I click on it before I even see what is posted... it could be "We plant a turnip patch", or "Watch me boil water"... doesn't matter... I'm in!
thank you much appreciated
kiss ass
I discovered it on Saturday and ruined my weekend. Can't put the damned thing down.
I can hear it now.
This water is a little rusty
The pot has a hole in it, I'll pretend I did not see that.
I smell gas, we'll ignore that
You going to horses up so much it's going to pop a wheelie
Nice to see a professional at his craft with a great personality and great content for us to be entertained. Much thanks 😎🔧😎🔧
Glad you enjoy it!
Very true
droll , LOL hes a farmer with the professional ability of using bailing wire.
@@ViceGripGarage your talent is second to none bud... no doubt about it..
hes pretty damn entertaining and hes a chevy guy i mean c'mon haha no but really love his personality and especially his junk revivals, can't wait to see him get ahold of an old diesel... i hope haha
I am doing a vgg marathon today, some old ones I haven't seen before.
Really enjoy your videos. Whether I've seen them or not. Good wholesome programming
i bounce around on a lot of videos..I have owned too many cars including 2 of these C3 Vettes...But I end up back on this Guys channel! Being a mechanic 34 years watching this Guy and listening to his comments and the way he just throws the shit together nonchalant..I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING! Love it!
Anything Derek puts out I immediately like and then continue to watch cause no one else has got me quoting them in everyday life like he does.
Well I'll be dipped! I do the same thing.
You n Derek are tighter than J Lo's halftime outfit.
Same here lol
Well I'll be dipped, help me understand.. I just want some cookies
For real!
Loved the Cletus McFarland's shout out to VGG.
Derek, you can really tell the dedication toward the editing in this series, its not too often i get to watch my favorite youtube guy participate in something like this. The editing is amazing, and it shows that you've put alot of time into it. keep it up!
Very true, people don't really appreciate how much work he really did cut down by hour or so.
Thanks 🤙🤙
Liked seeing vgg make an appearance on cleetus's channel today
Well I’ll be dipped! We got a Sunday show.
Monday here ;)
Derek, God broke the mold brother. And that is a compliment. Geez, great stuff!
Thanks buddy
@@ViceGripGarage Oh are you kidding me? Thank you! I am honored to watch your videos, thanks again daddyo for the Midwest attitude I miss so much!
Love the airplane reference clearance Clarence any whoo love the show
Roger, Roger.
Give me a vector, Victor!
Those mounts were probably just screaming "help me to understand!" Cant wait to see the next part and what a guy is gonna do about those. maybe some zzzzzzt zzzzzztt followed by some pshhhhh. I dont know
haha, stay tuned!
You are an everyday Joe's hero my friend! Entertaining and whether you know it or not....informative!
Ikr, I never would've known a distributor was called a lightening whirler without him.
Seen you hanging with Cleetus McFarland and Jack stand Jimmy
Hey Derick, here's a little thing I learned to ease your neck pain when working under cars; use those little pillows shaped like an open doughnut. The kind made for napping while you ride in a car or an airplane. They will stay around your neck when you move and when you stand up, and when you lay down they take the strain off your neck muscles.
Who seen a guy on cleeters show points at ruby's turbo and says that gotta be 17 eagles right there! Lmao
*15🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Can't wait to see independence on the freedom factory burnout pad laying down some freedom!
yeah booi!
*raises hand* and I jumped up and said thats gonna give a guy 22.356 points of recognition
15-17 eagles lol
Derek you rock dude I love the way you talk too..very fun to watch you analyze things from your perspective
Thank you for uploading these whether you read this or not but your videos really helps out a guy with depression and as always stay safe
I love these videos so much because i do the same thing all day. Talkin to myself. Wrench slips nuckles get mangled. "Well thank you. Wasnt sure if 5 times today was enough, 6 is definitely better ...maby try for 7 times tomorrow? "
That burnout competition footage brought a tear to my eye, times are weird that a dude in a yellow corvette with a flag hanging out the window made me this happy. I'm watching your videos now and thank the algorithm for showing me your burnout.
"Down there just twistin on things ...I'm not even sure this is the right hose ..." Hahahaha been there many times.
Me too, brother. Makes the car just that much more fun.
Doubled your horsepower, 250 at least now.
250 flywheel HP that's 180 wheel lol!
@@79tazman not through a manual that wheel horsepower number is a good bit off there at least 210-220 minimum
We look forward to seeing your videos! We learn (even though we were in the automotive repair business in the 80's & 90's) and love your humor, and the care you give these old cars. When doing something I catch myself saying "well help me understand". You're our main channel along with Junkyard Digs, Thunderhead 289 and Midwest Truck. We don't have TV anymore, so we get our fun on UA-cam. Thank you for all the great times you give us.
Oh yeah....the safety squint to protect the eyeballs while the death wheel is in action....priceless !
*Pushes like button immediately and asks questions later* 🤔🧐
always!!
I'm going to make a cross out of wrenches and pray for you brother.
Exactly! Looking forward to seeing the next episode!
Exactly my strategy each time a vice grip vidja is posted lol
Perfect timing, just cracked a beer, better grab a few more.
Same here. Beer and vgg go together like Chinese food and chocolate pudding
Lol thats right!
Don't you mean wobble pops? LOL!!!!
Only after i smash a 12 pack real quick, i figure its cheaper to drink them real fast.
Some cold snacks? Perfect!
CENTURY used to make the best battery charger units. Absolutely bullet proof. We had an old one “ancient”, it still works better than every medium priced unit ever. I’ve been through 4, of the cheaper units,, and the really old CENTURY still pumps amperage.
So if the welder is built anything like the old century batter chargers,, this might be worth looking at. Thanks for showing that off.
Loving it brother, just makes me smile. Enjoying a cold snack while watching you get the corvette blues.
thanks for watching
@@ViceGripGarage its always a pleasure watching your program. Your in my top 5 list to watch.
Seen a guy on old cleeters channel nice job made the whole vid ! Besides the giant wheelie
I had a single carb weiand blower back in the early 90's . Kept slinging the belt at 5k they sent me new pullies, same thing. So i sent it back to them, and they sent me a new one, no problems with it. They said the shaft was walking in & out on the old one starting at around 5k mine wasn't a going to town polished one like yours though ha
Goin' to town polish!ha ha!I'm gonna use that one.
same, cept it was an old gasser racer that diagnosed mine
All the things that cause me to curse and throw wrenches are “that’s nice” and “that’s good” to you. Positive outlook lol
Setting timing by ear. A lost art. My ole man could do it, taught me, and I taught my kid. Perfect!
I can literally smell the varnish as the fuel drained out 🤣 Great stuff as always, Derek.
Side pipes would be the icing on the cake.
Love the beat when the camera was paning over the finished product
What fun! A beauty of a barn your working in. That black undercoat of the roof makes for good filming
Awesome! I've been looking forward to this... Thanks Derek!
In these strange times it's always a great day when Derick puts out a new video cheers me right up keep up the great work
Every single episode, is your best one. Love the channel and all your hard work. Thank you!
Great mechanic. I'm in school right now taking auto/diesel. I hope I'm as good as you one day.. Thank you for the inspiration!!
Just saw a quick sec of Derek with old Cletus
soon as he appeared , I got the notification he was on....wierd
Same here just watched the vidya and now I'm on this one
I love it you’re the antihero of car mechanics! You need your own comic book!
You've got some great fans Derek. Everyone's pulling for you 100% of the time. That must feel really great Brother... I always look forward to your content. Live long and prosper!
Dereks approach reminds me so much at my Father. He could also take a complete car apart from scratch on his Familys Parking lot and putting all the parts on the ground without marking any single part. He always mastered to get the cars properly together and running again how it supposed to be and Derek really knows, exactly what he is doing, despite that claims he didn't Such a humble, lovely Guy. Thats what makes the difference between an Hobby Mechanic and a real Genius! Keep up your fantastic work Derek, you really Rock the Boat Dude!
This man has a god given talent, the man can work on anything and it’s very astonishing, nice work man love the videos
Thank you
At 20:07 - Someone has Star Trek sound effects on their phone. Perfect. 👌 🖖🏼. That’s worth 1,000,000 horse power! Corvette now has warp drive.
Scotty's got the dilithium crystals full of the eagles so Derek can giver all she's got!
I honestly didn't think anyone was gonna catch that besides me...
So many car videos simply edit out all the frustration and difficulties. It is nice to know that it isn't just me, even experts get a little frustrated by all the difficulties of working on cars. I am just amazed at how well he handles them.
Derek love the work and the whow!!! Hope Tennessee is treating you well!!!!
Living the dream. You just keep taking this channel to the next level again and again.
Keep up the great work, don't stop being you! 🇨🇦❤
Thank you! Will do!
That "waaa...waaaa...kaboom, oop there it went" fucking killed me at 3:37
Genius is SUCH an inadequate word for this man !
Perfect just cracked open a beer
So you mean a canister of thirst quenchilator?
Wobble pop
How he makes everything seem so chaotic yet so calm amazes me everytime 😂😂
It's called lots of editing. Probably spent good 1 or 2 hours more work on the car. As example I just put 02 sensor had drill the exhaust on my motorcycle he did it within 5 minutes, me the job took about almost 2 hours. I hook up power commander V and dial in correctly with laptop the AF/R.
Just saw a feller on another feller's channel. Nice to see a feller out and about enjoying the company of other fellers.
Gotta love using the old hackemoff wheel right above the open carbonator and just throwing sparks down it lol.
You never disappoint Derek. I love this channel.
Hey Derek, what you're doing is awesome! I had an idea though for a good video, showing us the difference between a pull through and a blow through carburetor
Thanks for the idea!
Another sweet episode on this C3 Derek @ViceGripGarage
You reminded me of one of my favorite sayings. "Brutal force and ignorance will always triumph!"
I dont understand why Derek EVER gets any negative reactions.....hes a cross between George Carlin and Smokey Yunick.
So excited for this!
I’ve done similar to a 75 & 79 poorvette. Loved them both. I think I’m more in to this build than any other just because of that. Well done.
Derek, you never fail to entertain my sons and I. We are all gear heads like you. I look forward to your shows all the time... BIG Thankyou!
Derek, Love the format of someone filming for you. That is great stuff, one less thing off your plate. Not saying the classic lone wolf style is bad either.
Thanks Nate, appreciate the feedback
I enjoyed when you held the camera and you were emotioning with your hand It was funny all the hand motions you made It really helped to understand and it was entertaining somehow
Loved the “safety squint” at 5:00. Always remember, safety third!
You're a hard worker Derek. I love your attitude and determination. I would be a nervous wreck trying to pull that off. 👍🇺🇸🍻
I can't imagine the amount of mechanic slang flying around when you were trying to Mount the fan and pulleys. Being a lifelong mechanic myself I'm a firm believer most descriptive wording was invented by our trade.great job, love the humor to get the day started.
Man solid content dude, loved it when you fired that sucker up. Love the attitude and the content, hopefully that vette has clouds behind it
Thank you!
"A touch of brakes would be nice..." famous last words.
ALWAYS the best! Without "speakin'" , JUST another "dream" job, BY a master. (for the price of an "apprentice".).
Yep. A long extension is great. But even better is as many small extensions as you have hooked together.
I see you got to meet Cleetus!
Man love that whine!!
Another great video!!!! Thanks for all you and Jessica and the family do just to give us quality content. Hands down best revival/all around car channel on utube!!!!!
Always get a couple of chuckles when watching a guys show
Disassembly goes by time honored rules: Keep taking out bolts till the part you want falls off.
Something to watch while I’m on shift at the fire department yes!!!
Sounds right. There's going to be a fire for sure.
Oh right at the good part too I’m sure 😂
I'm doing same thing brother
ALLL..RIGHT k.hinder do that damn thing...my brother Craig retired from the fire department
Love it here, hopefully joining the navy soon as a translator and I’ll miss the uploads but be able to BINGE watch after boot camp 😂
I definitely live by that mantra; “just keep taking stuff apart (off), until something starts to move (comes apart). Lol- Cheers!..and, how much torque when tightening nuts? All of it! Or, until you see the impression of the bolt head in the metal.
I've got that same little welder. It puts in work. I knew it was a good purchase when i got it. Had that warm toasty feeling.
Question for ya. Where did you get it? I wanna learn how to weld with out hurting my wallet
@@Vr6.christos Got it at home depot. It wont dissapoint. Just so you know, it's a 120v.
A fella should do the right thing and wear some safety glasses 👍🤓
I see about 86.4 pair of New Balances headed your way on the next live mail opening whizbang.
haha, that'd be awesome eh
William Reynolds ... Only one problem, they'll all have VELCRO closure flappy things instead of laces 🙄
With you driving i see the car was wearing the seat belt. Great show great recovery, from the field to the event and beyond.
So refreshing to see someone with 20 times my mechanical knowledge and 100% of my ability to break/drop/lose parts...
Hell yeah🤘
I do wish he would wear safety glasses when grinding I had a friend go completely blind in one eye from stuff like that
They are about worthless unless your grinding on a bench the small stuff still gets in your eyes
I got some metal in my eye doing something like that, didn’t notice until the next day. They clamp your head down to a chair, hold your eye open with clamps and use a magnet on a stand as big as an engine hoist to pull it out. All for only $200! Do what ya want but I buy safety glasses by the box. They more ya got laying around the more likely you’ll use em.
I've never had them use a magnet they have always just numbed my eye and took a swab and got it out
@Dave Micolichek yeah I have been lucky and not had a hot one mostly pieces of rust getting flung at me by the spinny death wheel
Good idea
Eyes and ears are things we miss when we are older look after them.Ear plugs and glasses very easy
lovely bloody lovely! And when he says “ Oh no! This ain’t my floor to leak stuff on!!” I’m gone! Derek you is a star my boy!
That torque-alater wrench was way too fancy to be yours. It beeps yours makes a clicky sound......... Usually from your mouth 😂😂
Please turn this into a dedicated drag car that can hang with Leroy and ruby!
This thing better be doing wheelies cause Ruby has drastically raised the bar!
@@ichoozjc man that was crazy when he pulled a wheelie it’s pretty awesome to see the evolution of Leroy and ruby! Vice grip garage’s content is also awesome it would be cool to see the same evolution with a c3
Exploded motor mounts exactly once in my life - after that, nothing like a little chainage from the left front of the block / head down to the crossmember to keep everything nice and cozy secure
Love the wind of the blower
Perfect. Now my night shift runs much easier in Germany. Thx
Speaking of blowers I wonder what Monica Lewinsky is doing rite now!
What we do on the ol mud runners is take a few links out of a chain and use a bolt on each side of the block and either bolt it or weld it to the frame so she’s just right solid with no wiggle room no more breaking motor mounts
You are by far, my favorite UA-camr 😂😂 the way you say things and your very sarcastic attitude makes it all so perfect! Keep up the great work man!
The "corvANT"

Hahaha now its at 60 dislikes. Im ine who actually likes this content and enjoys it and very informative car education with humor. ;)
@@jaredpetersen7343 ,,,, Hell, it 65 now.
Watching this while i drink some cold snacks before the wife gets home and gets me to work. Hope i can get more than just a few in.
I'm subscribed to a channel called Autoshine Cars. At the end of his videos he always leaves us with a question. Question this time was "what other automotive channels are you subscribed to?
Comments section reccomended your channel.
So glad they did. Absolutely love your channel.
