Too true. 1 day battery life for a watch is a deal breaker despite how cheap or expensive it is, I want at least _a week_ on Full brightness. OEMs need to bring back the Hybrid E-Ink + IPS display that could last for days sipping on battery. Battery life is why I gave up on smartwatches and reverted back to fitness watches.

It's disappointing to see that even after half a decade, smartwatches still aren't as great as they could be and I think this is mainly because not many people are willing to spend 200$+ on a watch.
if it was a watch... but thats consumer tech, with the expected 2-4 year life cycle, and people SHOULDNT pay upwards of $300 for a very nieche featureset in a watch destined to be electronic waste within a few years
The health and fitness features of this watch are what makes it worth getting. Been using it for about 5 days now and it works great. Battery life isn't the greatest though, like he pointed out.
The main reason I don't use it because it gets bored and kinda show off for people after 6- 7 months. And who wants to charge there watch daily when I use it only for time
Take a look at a Garmin. My sister has a descent mk2i (diving) smartwatch, and she says it makes her Apple watch look like an expensive toy. So many features and it is extremely smart
Having a smart watch being capable of media control, fitness monitoring, being able to talk and text, having to charge once a day is fine. (Even though Apple and Samsung trained us for this) Any other watch that offers the same capabilities of the Samsungs and Apple watches are not that great with integration into any ecosystem and you end up losing out on a ton of useful stuff tied to your phone. Unless you get a Garmin well above and beyond the price point of these.
I'm surprised we're still using LED screens on watches. I think that e-paper would be far better suited to this application. If a watch's battery can't last more than a day, then every promised sleep monitor feature is a lie.

Yep, it started in earnest with Galaxy Watch 3. I feel like Samsung probably saw Apple users buying Apple Watches by the truckload despite its one-day battery life, and decided to follow suit, compromising on battery size in order to hit size/price targets. It's a shame.
I agree 100% the band is a joke and they let you do similar to what Apple does is customize it so that's what I did... but the watch didn't come with the band I customized it with?? I received my Watch 4 40mm 2 weeks ago and I’m in love with it. Yeah it’s still new and I would say that’s why it’s exciting ! There’s a lot to come in the future to enhence user experience given Samsung is a global brand that knows how to make good smartwaches. You’re right MrMobile, the original strap is a nightmare to take out and put back and the piece that fills the corners is not great and it reduces the flexibility of the band, especially on smaller wrists like mines but it fits me. I like to switch band, from a brown leather one for a more elegant look to a silicone one when I go swimming several times a week. I went for the Watch 4 with the digital royating bezel coming from an OG Watch Active that I traded-in and I’m used to rotating my finger around the screen and I wanted the smallest watch possible and the Watch 4 is it. I’m waiting for more apps but one thing I got to admit is I love the Shazam app to quickly, without taking out your phone, identify a song. Thanks for your review ans I hope you’ll make some more videos on the evolution of this new OS and its new releases of apps.
Very glad you mentioned how much better 22mm straps look, how much more they're available, and how inexplicable it is that Samsung went with 20mm straps even for the bigger models.
Right now, smart watches feel like that awkward (yet fun) time of phones between the first colour screen and the release of the iPhone/Galaxy. A few more generations, and smart watches will actually be worth buying. But as they stand today, they are too expensive for what you ultimately get.
Why I won't buy it: To fully utilize it, you must have be in the Samsung ecosystem such as the phone, earbuds, etc. No thanks. Google needs to outsource the Wear OS to Samsung and let them make an all-purpose version and a Samsung branded version.
Since my GearS2, I am still waiting for the day when Android watches do all you'd expect on a mini smartphone strapped to your wrist. This is finally a promising step. One or two more years to get there and I'll join the wagon again; after your approval that is👌
While I've seen other reviews for the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, *this* is the one I was waiting for as Michael's reviews are always informative and well produced. I have already pre-purchased one as a replacement for a Galaxy Watch S3 Frontier, which has itself been a very good watch for me over the last number of years. Now to find some decent bands...
Hey, here is a guy using this in 2024. Apart from the battery, everything else is fixed now. This is a good watch under a 100 bucks. Buy it if you are considering
Literally came on here today to see if there's anyone using this watch. As my Galaxy Frontier S3 just died after years of abuse exposed to Tear Gas, Firearms, Mace, and hand to hand combat. So I'll be replacing her with this one (and a rugged case too)
@@rolandotirador1565 don't bother with the case buddy... The watch is preety sleek on its own and stays that way even after abuse. I still use it every single day and it looks used (I think it adds to the character) 😜
My Galaxy Watch 4 Classic got wet in the swimming pool and stopped working. The Samsung website mentions that my warranty expires in November 2022, but Samsung said that as the watch got wet, my warranty is VOIDED. Hence, I had to pay $ 198 to repair the watch. I told them NO and my Galaxy watch is being returned to me WITHOUT any repair being done. So the IP 68 rating is only good until it gets wet, after which one is screwed.
That's insane - just yesterday on the Samsung website one of the advertisements literally insinuates someone wearing it while swimming to track activity. (Cant remember if I literally saw the swimmer with the watch on or not)
I'm surprised no one mentions the anemic battery . I have another Galaxy Watch and the battery lasts for a couple of days minimum...this one....usually a day.
@@tamerbraed7394 Lol not really Christmas, this was back in like September or something, whenever they came out cause I pre-order them. But yeah, still stand by those comments. I use all 3 of them every single day and I love them!
Been clinging to my Gear S3 for years now since I haven't really seen one I need to upgrade to yet. I love Tizen, but the lack of google apps/watchfaces is a downer. This watch was looking promising, but I was hoping wear was more ironed out by now.. My last experience with wear were fine but...definitely not without issue. Tizen has been really solid in contrast
@@nickmotsarsky4382 I still like Original Galaxy watch but Samsung gave $100 trade in for it + got Galaxy buds2 for $45 and my military discount so I pulled the trigger on it. I can't even send a text with it and don't care for the change with black background on notifications. I'm thinking well hoping in a few months the 4 will be a great watch.
I actually just returned mine. I couldn’t get more then 5 hours out of it. I used it for a week, just can’t do it. No I’m not gonna shut down Wi-Fi location services Bluetooth. If I did that I would have a paperweight.
I’m a fitness watch kind of guy So garmin watches is my choice And I always turn of all smart watch things Because I don’t need another phone on my wrist Thank you for all information as always
5:02 That actually sounds bad if there isn't an option to manually do it, for people that have a lot of apps on the phone, automatically downloading them on to the watch, would mean the watch gets it's storage filled up instantly.
I would be amazed if you can’t turn off certain apps. It’s just auto syncing instead of making you manually do it. I’m 99% certain they just copied the way the Apple Watch handles this
Thanks for telling me that "tiles" is just another name for widgets. Other reviewers just say tiles and expect you to know what that means. Thumbs up, subscribed. Thanks for the info.
Im still hanging for a smart watch developer to make it so I dont have to use the screen. You should be able to do most(not all) by using the available buttons like you can with Garmin. I dont want to touch the screen if i dont have too. Just like I dont with my non smart watches.
Samsung/Google has removed the gesture interaction. This follows a trend of removing the gesture interactions with each successive release of Wear. Meanwhile the Apple Watch has introduced more wrist gestures interaction on the watch in their latest version. It senses your movements and your fingers so that you can interact with more variety, pinching various fingers together will generate various actions, clenching your fist another, and shaking your wrist starts a cursor on the screen that you can steer with tilt.
@@GadgetyMV I was thinking more single/double/long press on the buttons for selecting, entering, back, home, etc...... And crown or bezel for scrolling.
I have mixed feelings about this: on one hand, hooray for more apps! on the other, this is yet another step towards the complete duopoly of Google and Apple.
I do like that it's not locked down to Tizen anymore. Of course, this has pros and cons. I love the new fitness features (coming from a Gear S3 Classic) so it's a huge improvement for me. I hope that's true about the Google Assistant!
I bought a galaxy watch 2019 model lte for 100 bucks brand new in the box seems like back then samsung included a nice stand for the watch to charge. W in my book. As time goes by we get less and less accessories and they charge more smh
I like the idea of a smartwatch and I've owned one in the past but after years of improvements, they still look bulky and have a ton of shortcomings (a big one is battery life). The best ones I've seen are hybrid watches that look & function like regular ones, have super long battery life and also give you some smartwatch-like features such as notifications and fitness tracking. Nice review though 😁
Wow, for that money, this watch is CRAP. No Google Assistant? LMAO, are you kidding me, Samsung?! Does at least Google Pay work on that Wear Potato? Anyway, thanks for the great and honest review. Appreciate, that MrMobile works for us, and not the manufacturers.
When I picked up the Watch 4 Classic, I immediately sideloaded the Fossil Watch faces, and they work amazingly well! I honestly hated the included band so I was glad I ordered a different one from amazon.
I know this came out like 8 months ago, but I got my GSW 4 Classic 46mm yesterday and I love it. I went from the 3. I ONLY got the classic because of the bezel pretty much. My hands have crap on them a lot and it's easier to manage and you get a large screen. Mine works wonderfully and since it's new, i'm 36 hours in from the first charge, I have 36% battery left, I've been using it a lot and messing with it and I only have the stupid features that are an obvious waste of battery off. Constant stress monitoring, heart rate every 10 minutes, blood oxygen level, etc... I'm going to enjoy this long batter as long as I can, but in 14 hours, the watch has only lost 7% battery. Pretty crazy and suspectr.
Had the Classic 4 LTE for a few weeks now, been fantastic up until today - found my first deal breaker. Finally went out mountain biking, and while listening to Spotify on my Buds and tracking my ride with Samsung health the watch went into flight mode as it overheated. Couldn't use any functions of the watch until it cooled down and was functionally useless and lost my exercise data. What's worse is I just bought my partner the Apple Watch 7 for their birthday, went through the whole ride without an issue. Love this watch but it's a massive deal breaker and defeats the main purpose of me buying it - so I can leave my Fold at home and still be contactable in case of emergencies.
Well Mr. Fisher, I just want to say thank you. You never fail to deliver informative but entertaining (and yes, FUN) videos. You cover the good and the bad, throw in your opinions and perspectives, but keep it relatable and engaging. And the overall feel and style you bring every time is just another reason I keep watching. But my favourite part, and has been for years, is the very genuine closing tag of “Stay mobile, my friends”. So yes, this is just a thank you. I know these vids take a lot of time and effort, and I for one, appreciate it very much!
Worst watch ever! A watch with a pathetic battery life shouldn't be called a watch in the first place. Get any watch, not Samsung. Garmins are the best.
It seems I am going to stick with my inexpensive but reliable Casio. I was considering a Galacy Watch3 but apparently they won't have support and someone said the camera.app doesn't work with hod Galaxy S20 FE
Said it before, say it again, no one produces the quality of content you do. You're just about the only tech review who's opinion I would base a purchase on.
I have 3 wear os watches, and one tizen os watch. The tizen is the best. I can’t see why people need a bunch of apps on their watch, i lost respect for samsung watches when they sold their soul for a wear os. I won’t upgrade to another samsung watch as long as it has wear os. They should’ve developed tizen to fit more brand of watches. I’ll stay with my 3 days worth of battery on tizen. I only aquired the wear os watches because i swore wear os would have improved
Thank God they even ship the watch with a band. The bar is low i know but I am waiting Apple to popularize shipment of Apple Watch without bands of course for the environment...
This channel is like no other. As someone put it - It's not about tech reviews - it's about narrating stories. For years now, I keep coming back for more.
I'm owning the watch active 2 from tmobile and it's a shame Samsung removed the MST support after the galaxy watch frontier edition because now i can't use Samsung pay even at Walmart for the simple fact that 99% of merchants in the US don't use NFC for wireless specific payments so u can't use it at payment terminals the only one i know works is subway
It sounds as though majority of the issues with the watch (apart from the bands and possibly battery life) is software oriented. Hopefully they can be addressed as more people get the watch. I've got included in my phone deal.
Man, hearing about battery performance like this is pretty disappointing. I'm still using my Galaxy Active 2 and I typically go around 5 days between charges, and that's without any battery saver settings! I don't even pack my charger when I go on short trips. After having my battery life bar set so high, taking such a drastic downgrade is a tough pill to swallow.
The battery life on my 40mm has been abismal compared to my active 2. I'm crossing my fingers an update will help with that, but I'm not very hopeful. 😞

Thanks for your review ans I hope you’ll make some more videos on the evolution of this new OS and its new releases of apps.
"those have their own complications" loved that subtle pun!
Very glad you mentioned how much better 22mm straps look, how much more they're available, and how inexplicable it is that Samsung went with 20mm straps even for the bigger models.
I guess I'll stick with my Fossil Gen5. The classic looks really nice, shame about the straps, but I can wait till the new OS and apps are improved.
Right now, smart watches feel like that awkward (yet fun) time of phones between the first colour screen and the release of the iPhone/Galaxy.
A few more generations, and smart watches will actually be worth buying. But as they stand today, they are too expensive for what you ultimately get.
YOU ARE SO ON POINT 🔥❤️❤️👍😍 SUBSCRIBE 👍
I agree pretty gimmicky and futile.
That thing about "sent a photo" isn't something to do with the watch. It's how FB Messenger handles photo notifications 😑
Why I won't buy it: To fully utilize it, you must have be in the Samsung ecosystem such as the phone, earbuds, etc. No thanks. Google needs to outsource the Wear OS to Samsung and let them make an all-purpose version and a Samsung branded version.
I pre-ordered this. Traded in my fossil gen 5. I haven't looked back. I love the new watch.
THAT'S NICE ❤️❤️ SUBSCRIBE 👍😍😍
Love my GW4 Classic, upgrading from the original GW.... This things a beast 💪🏼
Since my GearS2, I am still waiting for the day when Android watches do all you'd expect on a mini smartphone strapped to your wrist. This is finally a promising step. One or two more years to get there and I'll join the wagon again; after your approval that is👌
Try to create the wash yourself
I think Michael could pretty easily bathe himself, he seems like a pretty capable adult
YEAH, ON POINT 🔥❤️❤️👍
s3 frontier is great when it comes to battery life
Hey, here is a guy using this in 2024.
03:35 I need that watch face. I was going to get the 4 Classic but after I found out the straps are 20mm I decided to stick with my 3 Classic.
Did you find it yet? Asking for a friend. Who is me.
Me too
Anyone......I would love to download it! (Name?)
I can't see it in the list
Following
9:05 what watch face is it. I have been looking for it for hours. Please help 🙏
I'd be glad if you could tell us about the watch faces you used in the video.
(Cant remember if I literally saw the swimmer with the watch on or not)
I think they can work on more optimization to improve the battery life
Was waiting for a top UA-camr review this. Who I actually trust
TRUE WORD 🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️👍
Mine 46mm classic should arrive tomorrow or next day. I can't wait. I also got my tic watch pro 3 today so I can't wait to compare them.
THAT'S NICE ❤️❤️👍❤️
I'm surprised no one mentions the anemic battery . I have another Galaxy Watch and the battery lasts for a couple of days minimum...this one....usually a day.
I just got my Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds today and I can't wait to test them myself!!! I'm in love with all 3 products
WOW ❤️, that is nice❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥
Damn, nice Christmas
@@tamerbraed7394 Lol not really Christmas, this was back in like September or something, whenever they came out cause I pre-order them. But yeah, still stand by those comments. I use all 3 of them every single day and I love them!
lol, have a good life ❤️❤️❤️
@@tamerbraed7394 Lol you as well man
Messages with Images are now shown after an update 👍🏼
Been clinging to my Gear S3 for years now since I haven't really seen one I need to upgrade to yet. I love Tizen, but the lack of google apps/watchfaces is a downer. This watch was looking promising, but I was hoping wear was more ironed out by now.. My last experience with wear were fine but...definitely not without issue. Tizen has been really solid in contrast
I still have the original 2018 Galaxy Watch. Works well and still full 3-day battery life, which is crazy after 3 years.
I've got a gear s3 classic also and still use it most days, it would just be much better if I had more Google apps like Google pay UA-cam etc.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 I still like Original Galaxy watch but Samsung gave $100 trade in for it + got Galaxy buds2 for $45 and my military discount so I pulled the trigger on it. As others not happy with the band but was planning on getting the extreme sports band. Not happy with Bixby.
As always, this is the review that I was looking forward to seeing the most 😊
I’m a fitness watch kind of guy
So garmin watches is my choice
And I always turn of all smart watch things
Because I don’t need another phone on my wrist
Thank you for all information as always
5:02 That actually sounds bad if there isn't an option to manually do it, for people that have a lot of apps on the phone, automatically downloading them on to the watch, would mean the watch gets it's storage filled up instantly.
THOUGHTS ON POINT 🔥❤️❤️ SUBSCRIBE
I would be amazed if you can’t turn off certain apps. It’s just auto syncing instead of making you manually do it. I’m 99% certain they just copied the way the Apple Watch handles this
Thanks for telling me that "tiles" is just another name for widgets. Other reviewers just say tiles and expect you to know what that means. Thumbs up, subscribed. Thanks for the info.
The review I’ve been waiting for, from the best reviewer there is! Thank you Michael! Amazing content as always!
TRUE WORD MAN❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️
My watch should be here in a couple days hopefully I pre-ordered the Regular Watch 4
@@lukedudgeon8699 Ah, I see, yes, features that are apparently app dependent. Samsung seems to limit the usage of the buttons to a great degree.
You don't have to have that band, you can use the design studio and pick whatever watch body you want and whatever strap you want.
Taking for a spin would be an understatement when they are the ones giving life to wear os.
Even the wear os section of the play store was buried until this debuted! Now front n center lol
I have mixed feelings about this: on one hand, hooray for more apps! on the other, this is yet another step towards the complete duopoly of Google and Apple.
You're talking like Tizen wasn't part of Samsung's own closed ecosystem
Thanks for the review, not enough reasons to change my galaxy watch 3 which is performing well still 👍🏻
Now that's something 🔥🔥❤️
This review makes me pretty happy that I'm still sitting with my S3 Classic. Battery is busted but it still works great for 2.5 days!
It's a standard 22mm band right?
@@planetphatness 20 mm
Has this issue resolved in an update?
It's on sale right now for 200 bucks off and I really needed information thank you
TRUE WORD'S MAN ❤️❤️👍😍🔥🔥❤️
Worst watch ever!
A watch with a pathetic battery life shouldn't be called a watch in the first place.
Get any watch, not Samsung. Garmins are the best.
I was told it last 48 hours which isn't too bad for me. I don't know what you expect from smart watches
I quote Rick Blaine from the movie, Casablanca: "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
NICE❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤣😂
Sorry but skipped the sponsor part
I have 3 wear os watches, and one tizen os watch. The tizen is the best. I can’t see why people need a bunch of apps on their watch, i lost respect for samsung watches when they sold their soul for a wear os. I won’t upgrade to another samsung watch as long as it has wear os. They should’ve developed tizen to fit more brand of watches. I’ll stay with my 3 days worth of battery on tizen. I only aquired the wear os watches because i swore wear os would have improved
The Active 2 band was great!
True! Comfortable and easy to clean
Agreed, love mine
The only review i was looking forward to for galaxy watch 4
Okay, so in short, still Android Wear sucks even with 5nm new chip and V 3.0 OS
Man, hearing about battery performance like this is pretty disappointing. I'm still using my Galaxy Active 2 and I typically go around 5 days between charges, and that's without any battery saver settings! I don't even pack my charger when I go on short trips. After having my battery life bar set so high, taking such a drastic downgrade is a tough pill to swallow.
TRUE WORD'S MAN ❤️🔥🔥🔥❤️
We really need better battery tech; cars, phones, bikes, watches and so on. Someone needs to create something different.
I'll stick with my Gear S3 Frontier for another year. Almost 5 years and I still get 2 days battery.
Can you do a comparison video between the Samsung Watch 4 Classic and Fossil Gen 6. Pretty Please. @MrMobile
The battery life on my 40mm has been abismal compared to my active 2. I'm crossing my fingers an update will help with that, but I'm not very hopeful. 😞
I charge my fenix 6x solar once a month, if that ..
Great review, as always!
But what's that intro song? Had me hooked from the get go
I just couldn't own another device that requires near-daily charging. I'm amazed companies think this is acceptable in a watch.
How about the garmins solar are the the same price as these samsung but better ?
Is there a web browser application that you can use to surf the web? Also, I don't see Uber or Lyft apps for this watch, wtf?
I wish Google Pay was more reliable on it. Samsung Pay sucks and only supports half my cards.
Thank u for ur hard work on producing this very informative clip. Me, I also hold off of buying this new model after owning previous Galaxy Watch 46mm and.... charging it every evening was annoying despite all bells & whistles. That is why i moved to Huawei and im happy w at least 11-12 days of use w/o charging w all sensors on.
Does anybody know what is that orange/black watch face featured here?
Please make video for watch faces top 20. It's really hard to find good watch faces.
I have a very important question about these watches, is the little star that tells you "Good morning" or "Have a nice day", when you remove the watch from the charger; still present in Wear OS 3?
Nope ☹
@@Mike.Tech. aaah :(
Hey @mrmobile, Your watch faces look fantastic. Did you make those using something like Facer, or are they downloaded from somewhere?
