So great to see you doing your tapestry! I started to weave 5 minutes ago 😊after a weaving pause of 15 years at arts university.😊..so glad to see how I could use all my fabrics and yarn leftovers for a grand piece of art. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.💚👍🌷
WOW, Wendy is such a perfectionist when it comes to presenting, editing etc. Hope she got paid $$$$$ for all this this artistic showcase of her skills and hard work
I love that you are so chill and not perky and so crazy talented. It's hard to explain how watching some youtube videos take energy for me to watch, but yours infuse me with calm creativity. I hope you have a great career. You have that special something.
I love how you use things you already have at home for your weaving - table legs, instead of a $300+ loom, etc. And your final piece looks amazing! Thanks for the great video! 👏🏻 💖 👏🏻
I've watched this tutorial many times and I think it's one of the best ones. I would like it if you would make some more wall hangings. I learn so much. I haven't made one yet but I now have some yarn.
IDK how your video showed up under my suggestions, but I'm so glad I clicked on it! I've never thought of creating such a wall hanging (a tapestry with random design) but after watching your tutorial I'm interested in trying this. Not only does the process look relaxing, the weaving back and forth. But the texture is very compelling to me, a tactile person who loves to touch things. You can usually see my fingers grazing across the decorative pillows in the department store. 😍 Or even the sides of pottery in the gardening center. I also love yarn and cording. I love to crochet and knit. So I am compelled to create your tapestry just so my fingers could enjoy touching the weaves and loops and hanging strings. ❤ Thank you!
Wow I REALLY love how you named the techniques and even highlighted each area where you used them. I haven't seen anyone else do that. It makes it so much easier to see/plan/follow the project as a whole. And it's SUCH a great way to avoid having to explain all the basics, but still make the project possible for beginners like me. I'm so impressed!! Sub from me for sure ❤️
I am a weaver and I love it! I use a floor loom mostly and I make table runners, towels, scarves and material to see clothing. I have made tapestries and enjoy that as well. I wanted to share another easy pattern. Instead of tabby ...over one, under one...go over two and under two. As in tabby weave the next row would be under two and over two, etc. Thank you for sharing your love of weaving! I find your weaving color pallets beautiful. I am a subscriber now!
I've wanted to start weaving for forever but I didn't know how to without a loom! This is a great idea and I love Wendy and this was posted on my birthday! Its a sign
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! You are truly gifted Miss Wendy! It's SO mid century mod! I think so anyway. Your instructions are so easy to understand and you're so calm and relaxed about it all! Hope you sell/begin to sell these, your patience to make these and talent could be so beneficial! x
I like that it looks different and soft, very comforting. Also that yellow top looks beautiful on you, it goes really well against your skin and hair colour.
Wendy, I am new to your channel and I find this to be fabulous. I think I have a similar love to you (as I'm sure many do here) of structure and free flow art. Again, I thank you so much for this, I have forwarded it to several friends and I'll look at your other video's as well.
This was so informative! Thanks for sharing your skills in such an approachable way :) I've been wanting to try making tapestries but always get stuck thinking I'm not following proper technique. It's nice to see someone explore the flexibility and variety of textures available when free form weaving !
I've found tapestry to be a nice level of flexibility where if you make a mistake you can often go back to correct it, or if you step back and want to change something you can, so as far as crafts go it's been a nice one to pick up!
This is beautiful! I graduated from an Art School in Minneapolis (Minneapolis College of Art & Design. I wish they would have had a course like this back in the late 80's to early 90's I would have taken it for sure. Very Beautiful! You are an excellent teacher and explain things so well. It is something that I for sure may be trying after I make a large area rug. Just looking for some other techniques using different yarns, and having fun with it! Thank You Wendy! Kathy T. in Minnesota
Great tutorial. You may find Saori weaving inspiring. It's similar but has the same free flow choice & full of texture. Gives you scope for all sorts of applications from clothes to floor rugs.
This is beautiful. My loom just arrived yesterday and it is MUCH smaller but still I would like to know if you can reccomend some places to buy these bigger yarns. I'm brand new to this, so any help would really be appreciated. Thank you for your video.
Lol i was just thinking the same thing! I have two dogs who would love to tear this up. I was going to make two and use them as an entryway curtain but I’m having second thoughts.
Wonderful teacher and video that was unique and enjoyable it seems like a dying art.. I've been hoping to make one for many years since I first seen one up close hanging on my first job office wall.
I'm a weaver, and I liked your wall hanging, don't worry about it getting dirty, you can either run the vacuum cleaner hose (no nossel), or take it off the rod and put it through the drier on cool of course and that'll get any dust off it, only do it for a very short time as you don't want to felt it. Cheers!
i do crochet from time to time, and gurl let me tell you, those yarns that shes using are NOT dyer or vacuum friendly. Any yarn that sheds like that needs to be kept clean without these methods, it could ruin the original texture. That being said, a good way to ensure an easy clean up is to use a bulky t shirt yarn. You can used them online, or recycle by cutting up some old t shirts! This way nothing sheds!!
@@FeralCreatureOfIncredibleRoses oh thank you for your message, personally I've always had a good outcome using either method, obviously you need to exercise good supervision, and being very particular and gentle using the small brush head on my vacuum cleaner. Thank you. Cheers!
Wow! This is just what I've been searching for. Super presentation, great narration, and,at last someone who uses delightful background music. This is wonderful, and,I am a raw beginner to weaving. Thank you for superb video.
Wow- so awesome!! I have 3 long rectangular painting canvases, and I plan to use that as a loom, I already made a small woven piece on a 8x10 frame (my first weave), but I've been wanting to make very large one's like yours- I'm so glad I found your video, blessings from NYC!! 😄💗🌷
beautifully made and detailed video, very calming as well. definetly a calm way of introducing tapestery haha. tried first few weaves recently and could feel the stress leaving - cant wait to try more!
Tapestry hundreds of years ago: i have hand sewn a tapestry dozens of meters long and 10 meters tall. It is extremely detailed and took 7 years to make Tapestry artists now: this is my biggest tapestry and it took 7 minutes. It is a few blobs with another blob
Wendy, how did you hand this up? Just set it on nails? It’s lovely!! Thank you for sharing. I’ve done macrame for a while but weaving is calling my heart!! I’m so inspired. Can’t wait to try!!
I found out about your videos while i was watching home decor videos and one of the videos of Alexandra 😱 and it is now 1 am here in NY and i can’t stop going over all your videos.. loved all of them....
As someone who works on a traditional floor loom, it’s really weird to see tapestry weaving, because you don’t advance forward or adjust the tension constantly and various other things.
Wow, you're an excellent teacher and artist! I love this piece, love the yellows throughout (sweater, nails, fabric). My guess is that's a couple hundred dollars worth of yarn though. :)
Beautiful work great color ideas I really need to try this weaving journey. Where do you find your heavy thick yarn? Appreciate your tutorials they are so soothing to watch

connecting the string to the table is genius, i love seeing that i can do crafts without all the expensive tools
This is stunning! My favorite is the contrast between the big braids and the little tabby stitches. Wow.
Excellent video, will be attempting this 👍 Thanks Wendy
"dang I should do this! Oh wait...I have cats"
Hahaha gotta hang it reaaaaaally high in that case!
I have cats too but just hang all my work up high.
My cat would find a way no matter how high.😅
Dogs 😢
Lol i was just thinking the same thing! I have two dogs who would love to tear this up. I was going to make two and use them as an entryway curtain but I’m having second thoughts.
Hi Wendy love this tapestry. In fact it's awesome... Thank you so much for sharing x keep weaving x keep smiling x keep safe and well x love from UK

I would hang it outside & blow it out with a leaf blower from the backside.

Wendy thinks we should see her, instead.
Me too....
@@ankimo1957 I mean, she's teaching us how to tie everything and make the thing, so it makes sense to watch her and copy.
beautifully made and detailed video, very calming as well. definetly a calm way of introducing tapestery haha. tried first few weaves recently and could feel the stress leaving - cant wait to try more!
Very creative. I especially liked the way u used the table. 🧡💛♥️
beautiful, love it. I have to start collecting yarns then figure out a way to hold the frame - your table is genius
You are an AMAZING teacher! Thank you!!
Well done Wendy, but you didn’t teach how to get the tapestry on the dowel for hanging for beginners like me. Please can you teach that also?
You are so resourceful using a table to make loom.
Such a beautiful job. Very detailed video and I love it. You have a gift of creativity.
I really like the way it turned out.
curious how many hours this took! In case i want to try. thanks beautiful work!

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Wow!!!
I have watched a TON of videos on tapestry weaving on UA-cam and this one is by far the best. I am off to look for yarn and other goodies!!
Youre so talented I'm blown away it's so cool!!
Is there a list of all the yarns/string used?
Beautiful!!!! It turned out looking almost like a landscape with a sunset! That’s what I see :))
Beautiful piece of art.
Hi I love the large tapestry. It looks amazing hung up.
I have cats to, so might be off limits for now !!!!
4:30 That green yarn is beautiful! The whole finished tapestry is goregeous!
So pretty!! The tapestry is nice too. 👍🏼
Stunning! Love, love, love!!
Did you figure out how to clean it? I don't have a vacuum cleaner or dryer. Could you just hose it down and air dry it?
My grandma used to make these 😍 beautiful
Wendy, how did you hand this up? Just set it on nails?
It’s lovely!! Thank you for sharing. I’ve done macrame for a while but weaving is calling my heart!! I’m so inspired. Can’t wait to try!!
Support this woman! Amazing

Hi, first of all it is absolutely beautiful tapestry.
Second, how do you clean it ?

You had me the minute you rigged up the table turned on it's side. Innovation❤
Great video, super interesting project, very inspiring and everything explained clearly! Good job! In my opinion it was very professionally made 😊👍

Love your work, and your relaxed, positive attitude. This is totally like having the 70s back.
