Coming from Fi perspective I used to be very suspicious of Fe feeling displays and think of it as fake, but mbti made me realise it can come from very genuine place and I can apreciate it much more these days. And if you are at the receiving end of genuine Fe there's nothing more satisfying and heart warming, holly crap! So ESFJs you are very much appreciated for that. (ISFP)
💚💚 from suspicion to appreciation of Fe. That's great. I'm happy you're starting to see value in Extraverted Feeling :) & yes absolutely!! ESFJs are dispensers of warmth for those around them.
Very true!! I’d say the ENFJ is more calculated with their Fe vs the ESFJ. You hit it right on the nail. I’m an ENFJ myself so I know what I’m talking about lol.
OMG, as an ESFJ myself listening to these 4 ESFJ'S made my soul light up! My energy literally recharged and it feels like I'm with my best friends! Yay, go ESFJ'S! 🤟🤟🤟
Joyce, can u tell these ESFJs that i love them and watching this panel literally makes me cry the tears of joy, bcs finding out that there are people out there who are so selfless and genuinely want to make people happy is so heartwarming. It's just so so so beautiful T.T. I have deep trust issue and i am always very suspicious of others so it feels very weird to me to see that selfless people like this exist lmao. This is such a positive vibe. Faith in humanity: RESTORED
I'm watching this three years later, and I feel the same way. Tears flowing. My husband is ESFJ, and he is just like these ESFJs. He loves people, parties, connection, coaching, and caretaking. I just watched the INTJ and ISTJ group videos, and this is a totally different vibe, which is like me and my husband.
This panel has seriously made me the happiest oh my gosh! I can feel the love and understanding through the screen. Thank you Fe users for making the rest of us so happy!
Just watching them makes me feel wonderful. Amazing people. I wish you all had talked a little bit more about Ti, especially at the end there in terms of taking care of yourself, your own confidence, and what that's like for ESFJs. Joyce, you always seem to understand each type so well without coming across as cocky or condescending. Very impressive. Thank you.
I can ask a question about inferior Ti during the next ESFJ panel :D Thank you, Josiah. I appreciate your kind words. I try my best to host these panels well, so it's nice to hear you say that!
Hey Joyce! I know this video is from a while back but I wanted to say as an ESFJ I appreciate this a lot. I used to be typed as an ENFJ and even as ESTJ at times but ESFJ 3w2 is the one that ended up sticking the most, being that it's the more assertive type of ESFJ. I think it's interesting to see this because a lot of people think ESFJ's are always gonna go with the group or that they're so traditional that any outside differences will offend us, which is definitely not the case for most of us. If anything we love differences and we care about those who are different. Everyone should be themselves. After reading some comments I noticed some people seem to believe that we judge people based on differences alone. I would say that's not really true. We wouldn't generally judge you if you're just a different person. It's more so that we don't like it when people are inconsiderate of others. Kinda like you can fully be yourself, but we firmly believe you can do that while being considerate of others at the same time. The world isn't in black and white terms, there's so many shades of grey. I think many ESFJ's, especially the assertive types, are also skilled at seeing the differences between confidence and arrogance. Like to us, confidence isn't something you need to project or force, it's just part of you. Where as arrogance tends to be defensive, and outward. Like when people try too hard to look cool or be badass, it just comes off arrogant and frankly makes many of us see you as being even more insecure than those who don't do that. Like I knew an ENTJ who at pretty much every oppurtunity would try to make it outwardly known that they were "confident" by literally saying it and being very defensive of that. And to me, it came off as insecure and arrogant, not confident at all. Personally, I've always seen people who are super confrontational and that feels the need to be aggressive (such as people with the "talk shit get hit" mentality, or those who are always talking about fighting or act like it's cool to get in a fight) as being insecure, and honestly they just come off really weak to me. I've seen some videos where ESTJ's were interviewed and some of them actually said they find many assertive ESFJ's to be intimidating and even scary. They didn't give any specific reason from what I remember but it's just something interesting to think about.
Always interesting to hear panels with people so different from me (intj). These people feel like delicate glass figurines that I'd shatter like a bull in a china shop if I was around too much, lol. The Si discussion was really informative too because as my demon I wasn't quite sure what it even is.
Great conversation leadership, Joyce. You stay very relevant/insightful with the expansions on what others say. This was a surprisingly interesting conversation. I tend to be hesitant of ESFJs because of the ones I suspect to be, but this opened my mind more. Found myself smiling widely here and there. Also cool individuals and mention of culture--I live in a city that is mostly Latinx.
Thank you Jessence Q! :) I try my best to steer the conversations here in meaningful directions. Culture is an interesting topic; Cool to hear about your city's background.
Unpopular Opinion: I’m tired of certain types in the MBTI community going in on ESFJs. Yes they have their ways that may make intuitives roll their eyes but acknowledge that they simply may trigger your past issues. Most people complain about how their moms were ESFJs and how she “did this and that”. That’s something YOU have to get over. Stop going in on ESFJs or Fe doms in general. Level up and become the better version of you and LEARN about the Fe doms and why grandma does what she does. -ENFJ.
when i was a kid my ESFJ uncle that i love so much used to tell me "we don't live in this world alone, you have to to make people happy to be happy", i never understood how that works, i tried to make others happy but it didn't make me happy at all, then when i learned about typology i understood that there is nothing wrong with me, it just that everyone is different and ESFJs have a big heart for many people, sadly they make me feel guilty because they are way too nice and i would love to be like that but i know that it not that easy to love many people, and honestly i think that many ESFJ can be taken advantage of, they need to be more firm with others and find balance to protect themselves, its fascinating how each type gets a good trait but looses another.
I feel like these kind of people, as a result of them being so ”soccer mom Fe”, they can more easily get problems with codependency! I would highly reccomend that if you as an esjf if you become aware of that there is someone close to you that is either an alcoholic or other non substence related dependent, to please practise detachment! Dont take on all their problems. It will destroy you. As an isfp, yall are my absolute favorite type. Much love❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for being such a good host Joyce! One downvote from a salty little attention-seeker who couldn't bear his ego being wounded with tactful honesty 😜 but srsly tho everyone seemed to love this, thanks so much for giving us this experience!
If you are the jess on the video, you have an interesting character, a blend of esfj and the enneagram7 is pretty intriguing combination. Do you know your 7 subtype?
Well as a INFP, I personally find ESFJ's annoying at best. Unless they're healthy ESFJ's, then they're awesome. But normally they're garbage. Lol, I'm joking but not really.
I just get the vibe that ESFJ were socialized with a lot of love, pride and being told to 'belong'. Which is why I also find them to be judgemental of rebellious people or anyone different. I'm an ENTJ. I briefly dated an ESFJ and he was so basic. I like them- but from afar and in doses. I don't think my life would be fulfilling or I'd make an impact if all I did was 'need belonging', you know? Not to insult them... but I think that's why they are the majority of people. Their value is very much in keeping the social order or masking bad things- not creating change or getting to the heart of things and making things better. I feel like their lives are mainly keeping an emotional binky to keep themselves from spiraling out of control and knowing who they truly are. I feel bad for saying this, but it's something I've noticed. I don't think you can LOVE people that much if you are that afraid of their judgment and always people-pleasing in order to feel accepted. Am I missing something here?
To answer your last question yes one can love people that much and still be afraid of their judgement. The mere fact that one cares about another’s opinion proves there’s SOME emotional attachment there-in this case it’s in people. If I don’t care about your opinion I don’t have that much emotions towards you, and that’s also good emotion. I’m simply indifferent. So yes they love people, but they do need their breaks. ENFJ speaking for ESFJ lololol.
As an ESFJ, yes we love people and love to be part of all kinds of groups of people. When a person with very high Te or Ti Dom makes a criticism out of observation for improvement, this could throw off our social mojo. Our inferior Ti doesn't translate your thinking the way you do, so it comes across as an attack or judgment. As an ENTJ yourself, if you learn to speak more with Fe or Fi functions to us, it will come across more as compassionate and meaningful which is how we could respond better to your observations. Your Te Dom likes to complete tasks and fix things that doesnt work well. Our Fe Dom likes to fix people and bring harmony to others. So it's two different modes of goals. One is for perfection, the other is harmony 👍 Therefore, yes we can love much. But having a loved one do or say something that makes us vulnerable, unloved or unworthy is a huge offense to our strongest cognitive functions (Fe-Si) 👍
This was written a while ago but I'll still respond. I'd say yes there is something missing, but it's not anything you did wrong it's just how a lot of people think. I've known a few ENTJ's and I've noticed they seem to often see things in very black or white terms. Like as if a label (such as ESFJ) means that everyone of that type will be a certain way. I think with ESFJ's it depends all on your ennegram as to what you'll be like. I'm a 3w2 so I tend to be more of the assertive ESFJ so I have no issue speaking up against a group or telling someone they're in the wrong, but also some of my best friends are INFP and ENFP and they definitely don't always go along with the grain. It doesn't bother me at all that they dress a little different, speak a little different or like different things. I love that about them and think it should be cherished. I will say for me it has nothing to do with being different that bothers me, it's all about how you go about it. Like if someone is a super sexually driven person and they want to be open about it, that's great and a wonderful thing. Now if we're in the middle of a crowded restaurant with little kids and you're loudly and intrusively talking about your sex life or other things in a vulgar way with kids around, that to me is where I see an issue and will flat out tell you to stop. It's stuff like that that bothers us. Blatently being inconsiderate bothers us, not being different. To steer away from that black and white thinking, something good to remember is that you actually can be rebellious while still being respectful and courteous. Rebellion comes in various ways and forms, and some are healthy and some are unhealthy. Like a good example would be Lizzo. There's been times where she's worn super inappropriate things to family settings with kids around. If she just had apologized for it and moved on that'd be fine. No one said she can't wear those things, they just were saying hey can you not do this in this specific setting. As an ESFJ what bothers me is the fact that she responded in a very defensive way over it. She let her ego take over and acted as if it was confidence. I think for us ESFJ's it bothers us alot when people think they're being confident, when they're actually being arrogant. Confidence is beautiful, and a lot of ESFJ's have it and know that it isn't something confrontational, or something you have to outwardly show if it's true. Arrogance on the other hand is the opposite. I think another big misconception is that ESFJ's hate debating, which is also just not true. Many of us love debating but it's cus we know the fine line between a debate and an argument, which is something many people do not know. If that makes sense. I hope that's insightful.
I guess I need more ESFJ's in my life....cuz I don't see people the way they do. Every time humans confirm my pessimistic view of the world it only reinforces my reclusive tendencies.
I’ve been trying to decide between Esfj and entp. And I’m not even half way through this panel and I can say I don’t really relate. I don’t think I’ve ever woken up and said I just love people 😂. So great to have this ESFJ panel. ESFJs are a rare and very under-appreciated type in the typology community. Also that ending song kicks ass.
ESFJs are beacons of warmth in a cold world :) ISTJs are excellent company too 😉😉 haha yes! Jess is really rocking her Ne with the ending
This panel has seriously made me the happiest oh my gosh! I can feel the love and understanding through the screen. Thank you Fe users for making the rest of us so happy!
