My INFJ mom used to always stay up late so she could have her "quiet time" after everyone else went to bed. Unfortunately, as a sleep-first INTJ, I am also a night owl so I'd still be up with her although not in the same room. When I was in college studying science I would get really excited about a lesson and come to her and start explaining it to her and she would TRY to seem interested but then her eyes would start glazing over. LOL. She really just wanted to have her alone time to ponder and I learned to give her that. But, poor woman would still then have to stay up even later than me simply because even though I was not coming into her room, just knowing that I was awake made it hard for her to wind down for bed. I once asked her why not just go to bed and she said she NEEDS that time alone where she won't be interrupted. I find that interesting because I have my extroverted judging function second as well but it doesn't upset me when people come into the room and need to Te with me. I enjoy Te. Maybe it's harder for Fe users because they have to use that Fe even if the other person is not using Fe whereas INTJs only have to use our Te if the other person needs it too, so y'all are ALWAYS using your aux function if people are around whereas we are not. That must be hard! I can see why you'd feel resentful.

That is so interesting, I’m an INFJ 6w5 and I need my alone time desperately but completely unbothered which includes noise from the neighbor, tv’s etc. I began waking up early to get quiet time, because a neighbor would work all day and come home at 11 and watch tv all night and I couldn’t relax because he was up and I could hear the tv, it really bothered me. So, waking up at 4/5am worked for me. Lol. x

    - I learned Fe is cooperative than Te which is competitive.
    - INFJs 'feels' like 'socially tempered' INTJs.
    - I recall Joyce once mentioned on the 5 intj's video about the mic being muted when someone is speaking to the Te. This panel is doing just the same and in fact the whole video seemed very 'efficient' and 'calming'. Also btw, Karin's soothing Fe voice as Joyce commented carries a 'healing power' in my intj opinion. I used to hate my Ti critic but these guys made me appreciate Ti's reasons more and my PoLR Fe is now getting much clearer following your channel Joyce. Really, thanks for this great video and y'all infj cast.

@@patchwickednot at all accurate. I'm an INTP 8w9 and people say that's impossible too. It's not. You need to do your research. Research MBTI, Enneagram but also psychology, psychiatry, neurology, philosophy, etc. ALL of the subjects relevant to the main topic. Scientifically it's confirmed that cognitive development is a proven fact. He had stated that he was raised in a tumultuous and demonstrative family so it makes sense. Enneagram 8's tend to have a history of trauma and abuse which definitely leads to cognitive development. However people are raised and life experiences that occur can ultimately change a person dramatically. This can in the end lead to a very strong minded person that's less corruptable. However you can't say anyone is mistyped without having proof. It's kind of an overly stigmatizing way of thinking about people if you don't critique your own way of thinking because you obviously didn't do any research at all...

I know I have no fears of dying while fighting in my darkest hours because in a sense I’m already dead. I’m a nobody and I’m happy to be one... Im everything and nothing, I have everything when I have nothing to hang on to. No identification, no types, no culture, no past, nothing to call my own nothing to tight me down, I’m a free soul within a body that one day will be released into the cosmos to be that that I have always been. One thing I notice INFJs do alot when asked a question is we tend to unconsciously either act like we don't understand the question or some random thing before actually answering it. It gives us a second to let it register without having to show it. I'm an INFJ but don't know much about enneagram. My ENTP friend just typed me a 1w9 and it looks pretty accurate. I still have to figure out my instincts.
I'm curious to know what mbti the parents of each type are. I've heard enneagram is nurture based and mbti is nature based...

This is for Jessie. The reason we have emotions is because our emotions are our internal guidance system. They have an incredibly powerful purpose. They are there to let you know when you are getting off the path your better self has for you. You emotions are a beacon, signaling that you need to pay attention to some behavior that goes against what you truly want. For example, if you are feeling bad, ask yourself what self-talk are you doing that is going against you. Every time, when you feel bad, it is always because you are disrespecting yourself or someone else in your self-talk (which hurts you both). Emotions let you know you are doing that so you will realize it and make a change. Think of them like messengers, bringing you a warning that your thoughts are out of alignment with your inner beautiful self. I've heard a good analogy that emotions are like those little bumps along the edge of the road on the highway that will be really loud if you veer out of your lane towards the shoulder. They warn you to wake up and center yourself.

Oh wow, I'm an INTJ 5W6 and I can also pretty easily tell when a couple is not going to work out. So far, when I've predicted a couple was going to break up, they always have. But that seems so obvious because you can tell when people aren't being healthy with each other and that can't ever last long-term. So for me I predict it by watching their dynamic and just applying psychology knowlege. Interestingly my Mom was an INFJ and she was usually really good at this as well but sometimes she was overly cynical about people and I would be more optimistic and I'd be right more than her about people when it came to predicting their overall outcome and generally having a bit more faith in people. Maybe that's just because I believe at their core, most people are good and striving to be their best selves so I was betting on the right side of humanity. Idk. That being said, when she was analyzing a more specific trait or drive or motivation in someone, she TOTALLY would get it right every time and I would be off, often, when I was younger especially (my trickster Fe). But as I got older, I developed my Fe pretty well.

    • @LittleMew133

    • @hfortenberry
      @hfortenberry 2 роки тому

@@LittleMew133 Well, first I would notice whether or not one of them was in it for the wrong reasons (thinking over feeling), the “shoulds”, being with someone because you think you should be with them for logic reasons. That tends to go bad in the end. Also just seeing bad dynamics, subtle lack of kindness or respect by one or both partners, lots of impatience/annoyance with each other, etc. The “shoulds” factor is probably the biggest that you see in otherwise decent (not toxic) people. They simply didn’t take their deeper feelings into account when picking a partner. As an INTJ, I easily recognize this one. It’s pretty common and sad to see because they are unhappy but nobody is a bad person.

Wow, I really related to Emily having 75 tabs open in her browser...except for me it's more like 575. Yes I know that's ridiculous. I can't possibly be using all of those at once, right? BUT, I am. I do more than one thing at a time but not TOO many things. I'll usually do a few things at a time. So with my tabs, they are all a part of something I may have temporarily put on the back burner and am coming back to in a few weeks (for example) so I want to keep them handy. I've tried the whole Pocket and Bookmarks thing and that doesn't work for me.
When I was younger, (I'm 52), I preferred working on just one thing at a time, I actually still enjoy that more (usually - depending on what it is and how long it's going to take or if it's something that I might get bored of if I don't get a break from it and need to change things up a bit temporarily) but I realized that I'm a FINISHER so I started playing this psychological game with myself in my later 30's that I would purposely start a lot of things (too many things) which would then force me to finish more because I did not like having loose ends and I would be driven to finish them, thereby being more productive. But, it sort of back-fired on me, LOL and it all started making me freeze up from TOO MUCH. Things came close to grinding to a halt and THAT was super STRESSFUL because I still hate all the loose ends. So now I'm doing that less and allowing myself to focus on fewer things at a time again so I can move more effortlessly in each without being distracted by the 10 other thing I started. Lesson learned. :-)

Yup. INFJ here with 550+ tabs open in one browser, 250+ & 325+ in 2 others, 75 tabs & 175+ tabs in another currently, split btwn iphone and laptop XP. The only reason why it's not even more out of hand is that my computer(+phone) periodically updates thus providing me with clean slate each time XD. It's more like my curiosity leads from one trail to the next, all the while I'm vetting, eliminating or integrating all these clues to some form of unifying theory of reality and how they all connect & give new insights to each other. I've been called nuts for this before but I somehow always end up with massive amounts of tabs lol.

Nobody is responsible for the happiness of another human being. PERIOD. Each of us alone is responsible for our own happiness. Even if you WANTED to turn back flips and turn yourself inside out for everyone, it would never work because you'd inevitably have people who wanted the opposite of each other and you can't be two things at once. So it's just best to be yourself and do what you know is best for you (which means being a compassionate, loving person to both self as much as others) and allow the people who authentically mesh with the real you emerge into your life. Things are so much more effortless that way.
Also, you should only do something for someone else if it lifts you BOTH up. If you ever harm yourself in the effort to help another person, then you are not truly helping them. I can see that Karin has learned that. ALL you Fe users need to understand that for your own sake and the sake of those who love you and the sake of the world who needs you to take care of yourself so you can be your best self because only when you love yourself can you bring your A game to the world. Your happiness matters too.

I also didn't relate to the "projecting" aspect of the 6, but recently realized I was doing it with co-workers. I was just blind to it! I was projecting something onto them and thinking I was not safe because of it. 1:37:28 I TOTALLY RELATE!!! I'm an 8w9 and I do related to how Keelan talked about hate being controlled or manipulated ; yep sure ennea 8 cares about their own personal freedom and autonomy a lot - but I think not just 8, but anyone do!
Also for my take INFJ 8w9s in my opinion probably can gave off ISTP stereotypes, cause most ppl usually associate core 8 with higher Se, so ISxP 8s are more common - I'm an ISxP in MBTI I'm not an INFJ, but I can totally understand what Kee is talking about.
But anyways INFJ 8 core is an interesting combination - some even says it doesn't exist cause this combo is weird and rare.
"Papa bear" thing totally same with me, sure I gave off mysterious and chill vibes at first, but I am 100% someone with a lots of bravery, guts, and passion when you really get to know me.
My take to core 8s are we can be brash and straightforward but still I believe we're just being honest, sure unhealthy 8s can be seen as this angry and toxic person, but healthy once are protective and will stand up for the weak(especially So8s ; and I think most of you probably knew what I'm talking about with the instinctual variation thing).

Emily, if you happen to read this comment, I have adhd, a chronic infection of enneagram 4ness and a severe case of Infjism. I’m not a 7, but I am extremely curious and am super distractible and novelty seeking among my already preferred subjects of interest. I get bored and need to ramp up the stimulation, whether physical, mental, emotional etc... I think I’m fairly energetically extroverted for an INFJ, but I’m emotionally guarded and for lack of a better term - a “hater.” I don’t want to socialize (people: I can take em’ or leave em’) so instead that energy goes into my MANY hobbies and areas of study. Like Anna mentioned, I find the mental clutter and flight of ideas to be overwhelming. I’m constantly torn because I want to go so strongly in so many different directions (at least creatively speaking). On the other hand making a list takes a lot of effort... so I’ve just gotten better at putting out fires as they arise and enduring the extreme discomfort of flying from the seat of my pants. So anyways, I just wanted to say, it’s possible to be a less conscientious more novelty-seeking Infj with 50 bizillion tabs open on your computer. For me - it all starts from one question- one Wikipedia article, and then I begin to realize just how much I need to know in order to understand the first question I asked, hence the multiple tabs. (In a weird way I just realized that that’s sort of it’s own form of pseudo-conscientiousness).This was a nice discussion. I had been hoping Joyce would make a video like this. Thanks to all who participated... and read this far down a UA-cam comment.

What you describe all seem to be "expansive" things, which are fundamentally the opposite of Ni is perceived to be about. Ni is typically about the redution of things rather than expansion. How do you get from all these expansive examples you describe towards the conclusion that the common thing about them is that they're about reduction?
      Examples:
      - torn becasue want you want to go in different directions (expansion)
      - 50 bizillion tabs open, start with 1 wiki question (expansion rather than reduction)
      - MANY hobbies and areas of study (expansion rather than reduction)

Or it it absence / presence of Non-Dual Experiences? Or Ti is more in the foreground? Or is it Openness to experience from the big-5 test?
    2. There is some kind of heaviness to Karin's speech pattern ( perhaps she carries weight for many things/people and that's in the background?). On the otherhand, Emily's background is lightness. She is less liable for other people's happiness? Wild Guesses.

      @emilydawn275 4 роки тому +19

Hi there! I agree that the 7w6 description sounds a lot like ExFP types, that was my first thought when I read it lol. Essentially I was able to figure out my MBTI type based on the cognitive functions alone - it has always been pretty obvious my whole life that I'm an introvert, and it's clear that my feeling process is Fe and not Fi, which would rule out any of the FP types. I do recognize that I have a need for stimulation, but it is different from ExFP types in that my need for stimulation is based on fear of sitting with my negative thoughts, whereas an ExxP type wants the stimulation to fuel their dominant Ne or Se. My parents are ENTP and ESFP and there is a pretty stark difference between their ability to process a lot of stimulation and mine! They have much more energy than I do, they multitask better, and they shift seamlessly from one activity to the next. I enjoy excitement, but I function much more effectively when I have the space and time to focus without interruption.

@@emilydawn275 Thanks Emily, that is a good way to see the difference between EN-P and INFJ who is also a 7. I am just curious b/c I am ENFP, but I relate a lot to what people are saying here about INFJs, especially your need for stimulation. I can multi task and need a lot of stimulation, yet as a 6 with wing 7, I am not nearly as comfortable with shifting from activity to activity as ES_Ps in particular. (My need might arise with overdoing UA-cam videos and articles, trying to work out the different MBTI patterns.) My brother is an ESTP and a 7, and he is sooo comfortable in the world, moving from activity to activity, very easy with people, doesn't seem to need much time alone, etc. Even as a social subtype, I am naturally very cautious in social dealings and prefer to know what to expect when I am getting together with others, etc. While I can handle the overstimulation of say, an amusement park, my reason for being there is because friends want to be there. I would much prefer a calmer get together of lunch and conversation, or game night with another couple, or (if more active) going with my family or a friend to a tourist town and going through the shops, etc. Similar to introverts, I am also happy staying home reading and puttering around the house, and after an afternoon of external world stimulation, I really need to escape to my office or decompress in some way. I think this is due to being an intuitive rather than a sensor. Where I am extraverted is that it's hard for me to say 'no' and miss out. I worry I am missing something :(

I really enjoyed this. I’m still very new to my understanding of the enneagram. In the past I typed as an INFP 4w5 and I think that was because I answered questions based on how I perceive myself or how I wanted to be in the future. Most recently I really looked into the cognitive functions and realized I relate much much more to being an INFJ. So that made me concerned that my enneagram was also incorrect. I retested as a type 5 with equal wings lol but type 9 was second highest and I relate to 9s more. My tritype (which I never even knew existed 😳 there’s so much to learn) is 639.

Im a 5w6 (but could be a tritype not sure though)and a lot like tori i got mistyped as an intj and intp a lot of times.I a lot of times appear cold and (no im not proud of it)this rly is something that kind of makes me look like an intj along with detachment.but i feel really guilty when i do act cold.i think that guilt is something that seperates type 5 infjs and intjs.does any other infj type 5 relate?(sorry if this was too long😅)

As a Fellow 4w5, I feel for Matt. I also need to withdraw in order to resolve a problem, also the outfit thing is real for me as well. I mainly dress for comfort but other ppl think I dress like a "slob." Thing is what defines a "slob"? Everyone's views are different. Talking about different views, I also had many situations where people tried to change my beliefs and it doesn't work but I'll say in cryptic things like "oh I see how you believe that." Or "that's interesting." Etc. Also the sitting down and analyzing my feelings is too true as well. I'll analyze my emotions down to philosophical numbers. 😂.

As long as they are controlling me in the way I was going anyway but as soon as they want me to go where I don't I do the "Greyhound freeze" and they are shocked how stubborn I can be and I will not change my mind to go where they want me to

I found this forum very interesting. I am perceived to be a 9 most of the time. I can relate to everyone's types at some time in my past. I am very turbulent. When I teach a class for example I can take control but I am so sensitive to others needs. I shift gears very quickly depending on circumstances. Thank you all for organizing this video.

I’m a 4w3 and related to Jessie and Matt the most actually lol. I doubted I’m an infj bc I enjoy fashion and standing out in that way, so it was cool to hear Matt say he’s the same as a 4. Also, it’s paradoxical bc I enjoy standing out in fashion but I also mimic others same as Jessie 😂

When I saw what infjs could be, for me, as for infj, they seemed very strange, artificial, as if unable to understand that they looked strange, although I understand this and try to influence myself. Here only Lizzie seems real to me and so much like me, it's like INFJ². It seems to me that in any such situation, I would behave the same way, it just seems that although everyone is INFJs, they are too eager to discuss it, while I just want to know more about all this, to learn and appreciate it all for myself.
I write it with Google translate (It's doesn't matter, maybe)
Actually, I'm more similar, probably, to 1w9, but I don't know for sure, but 9 should definitely be, while 8 doesn't fits well, it seems to me.
There is no 1w9, unfortunately (In video, not comments)
It looks so self-confident, someone might think that I am not an INFJ (Although, why?), Someone might think that I am wrong about the types of enneagram, but I hope (very very very HOPE) that I am not mistaken ( It was not for nothing that I passed a bunch of tests, and in most cases I got INFJ, it was not for nothing that I passed a bunch of tests and in most cases I got types 1 and 9 of the enneagram (In fact, types 4 and 5 were often met, but I'm 100% sure that I'm not 5, and I don't look like 4 much (at least some of these people are strange ...)), it's not for nothing that I read the INFJ profile on Typeinmind.com (or what is there after the dot?) and understood that if everything converges, then 99% of everything that is written there (In fact, probably 93% converges (at first I wanted to write that 88%))). Nightmare...
    So, you understood me. 🙃
    Wonderful.

I have wanted to write something like this for a long time and thought that I would never write it because I needed some special conditions ... But I did. And I'm a man 🤦‍♂️ (But it's still cute).
