I think Carmen is a really great sister. I cannot imagine having to identify sexually different than your sister whom you share a body with and then trying to have a partner.
Can’t imagine that works well, when one of them gets intimate, then so does the other, and they will both feel the sensation, same with showering, using the bathroom and all other personal things
it's probably better than if they were both allosexual (meaning they experience attraction) because imagine how awkward that would be for them when the other was with their partner

@@CaptainOfTheCrapShak lmao we don't read each other's minds and we never claimed to. We just tend to have similar responses because we spend so much time together. Let's not make assumptions :)
Omg! It's so interesting to me the way that when Carmen is talking you can see Lupita sort of mimicking the words at the same time and viceversa. They already answered that of course they don't share a brain so is normal to asume that they don't read each other's mind but the fact that they can mimic with their lips what the other is about to say is impresive, that shows that something's happening, maybe a reflex or idk but is really interesting. I wish nothing but a lot of happiness in their lifes.
it's likely not a reflex; their spines split at the torso. any nerves that are responsible for mouth movements and cognition wouldn't be that far down. if anything, they had been prepped for the questions beforehand (as a lot of these types of interviews go) and possibly had the general answer written out already. i can only speculate about what they were thinking, but their nerves wouldn't be connected that far up
@@OctagonCookies that's a fair possibility, but what i said still stands: there's nothing that's fused together that would cause them to share thoughts or have "ghosts" of each other's words showing as a reflex on the other's lips
8:25 "It's a disability if you make it a disability." Super powerful words! These girls are absolutely impressive already at such a young age. Many others spend decades to able to reach such a state of mine. Many, many more never get there and pity themselves or others forever for something that can't be changed. Nobody is normal. Wishing those two all the very best!
I think there is a point where this can become like toxic positivity, though. I am disabled and only through acceptance of being disabled have I learned to love myself, advocate for my needs and accomdations. It is not shameful to be disabled and I feel proud of myself and empowered. I cannot do things easily that other people can, and ignoring that isn’t going to help me live better, but harder. Disability isn’t a dirty word - it can help us define what is necessary to give others equal access. Sure, “nobody is normal,” but disabled folks/neurodivergent folks do need accomdations & that’s OK too. (Ex. Hard of hearing folks needing captions, etc.)
I know this was meant to be helpful, but it's a bit harsh. Acceptance isn't self pity. There are disabled people in the world who need accommodations that many others don't.
It is a disability though. However it isn’t one that anyone should be ashamed of. It’s one of those disabilities that you wouldn’t ever want but wouldn’t be ashamed if you had.
I’ve never noticed before when watching their other content, but whenever Carmen speaks, Lupita will subtly mouth along to what she’s saying, and when Lupita speaks, Carmen will subtly mouth along to what she’s saying too. It’s interesting.
On their tiktok Carmen and Lupita get disrespectful and intrusive questions in their comment section all the time, so it's really nice to see them in an environment where they actually consented to being asked stuff and where the questions are genuinely respectful (and interesting)!
my biggest question would be do they find it easy to go about compromising? clothing style, weekend plans, future career, going to bed/waking up, even carmen being in college while lupita dropped out (but still technically has to attend).
i was thinking about this too! or before lupita dropped out, I wonder if they got different academic treatment bc there’d be no way to see whether they’re cheating
*”We can’t read each others minds”* But when Carmen would speak, Lupita would mouth exactly what her sister was saying as she was saying it (and visa versa). They obviously can’t mind read, but the connection these two women have is mind-blowing!
@@emanfication They don't share brains and are not telepathic, they are just around each other 24/7 so at some point you begin to predict the mannerisms of the person you're constantly around
They have two separate brains, so they can't "read each others minds" at all. But they spend time together literally 24/7 and at some point you'll just get used to how the other one phrases things. Lupita mouthed her height when Carmen said her height, not because they can read each others minds, but because Lupita obviously knows her height and knew, logically, that that was what Carmen was gonna say. This happens between parents and kids as well, when the kids are saying something to someone, which the parent know exactly what is, you'll catch them mouthing the exact words. It's a question of familiarity, rather than mind reading.
@@willswain7144 Disagree. The point of a test isn’t about how well you can access knowledge, but rather to gauge how much knowledge you already know that can build upon with further learning. It strengthens the connections in our brains and keeps our thinking versatile. They’re also very stressful and I hate them, so 🤷🏼♂️
Agreed. No matter what, they are stuck together forever. They both have to work the same job, the same tasks, and the same outcomes together, so they should be treated as a team entity. Of course in the real world, the other twin would still need to have a certain level of competency, but they would clearly combine their me tal faculties when problem solviing at their job.
i think they'd much rather be individually tested because if they were treated as one entity, that compromises their respective individuality and they mention in multiple interviews that they will like to be addressed as two seperate people.
@@scintilliance5665 I understand wanting to have individual achievements and not being lacking or burdensome to the other. But in a job, if one is qualified but the other is not, are they hired? 7:39 Just a time code for the other twins idk i thought that was nice how the four of them bonded and Olivia and Isabella talking at the same time was cool
Asking how do they date is actually a really nice question. I'm disabled, spina bifida. and it's often assumed that we couldn't possibly date and have partners, so it's nice to hear someone not just assume they don't.

@@fauxhuman0 Spina bifida is a neural tube defect that can impair walking, hips, nerve endings, and in bad cases, cognitive function due to hydrocephalus. It is caused by an opening in the spine that must be sealed.

Must say, I love the set up of this interview. The people who ask the questions can’t see them so they’re more focused on the answers and the conversation at hand rather than being in awe of their appearance
Carmen comes across as scary intelligent- I love the way she speaks so confidently and expresses herself. Lupita reminds me so much of myself- quieter and close to my sibling who takes the lead and helps me all the time.
Even though they say they can't read each other's minds, I feel like they kinda do. Notice Lupita mumbling the exact words Carmen is saying, it's amazing.
What a great interview, I respected them so much. Also, big admiration for their parents; they could say: “no for us”; but they decided to raise these awesome ladies, they are in college, one have a partner, tik tok, friends… To me this is an example that even if the world treat you bad, bully and sucks, if you are surrounded by people that love you, care and protect you, you will go through all of it, it won’t be easy but you are not alone.
For those wondering, Lupita mentions she's firmly asexual and Carmen states she isn't "intimate in that way" with her boyfriend, so I presume when you share a pelvis with somebody asexual the matter is a no-man's land... literally.

@@dinkyboss that although we have disabilities, we shouldn’t let that hold us back. “ugh, my arthritis is flaring up badly today, i’m not going to be able to get everything i need done.” instead of looking at it like that, look at it as inspiration to others struggling that even if sometimes there are obstacles, there ARE ways to get around them.

I think their answer about being conjoined as not a disability is really interesting… like, does it not in some capacity limit them from what an more able-bodied people could do? There is nothing wrong with disability. Still, I appreciate and respect their answer to that question :)
The way that you are framing it would more be classified as an impairment. Disability, especially in the social model of disability, is framed more as societal attitudes and environments that disable someone/people, as opposed to their different physical abilities. Hope that makes sense :)
Some people with disability are okay with the label, some aren’t. It’s like the pronoun thing. If we know the preference, it’s easy to respect their choice.
I wish they would've elaborated on what term they would rather use. My sister has mental disabilities and although I believe she's capable of doing whatever she sets her mind to, I would still consider her disabled as she might need special accommodations in order to succeed. Not in a negative way, it's just a fact and I'm really grateful as it's the reason she's able to better experience life. I'm just curious as how they would've described that.

Carmen and Lupita are incredibley beautiful and super intelligent; these individuals are the kind of people I like to see go viral, just simply based off of their very different personalities 💕
I would never expect an answer but I want to know how do their hormones balance out? for example if Lupita gets anxiety (assuming they have 2 sperate-ish adrenal) does adrenaline she produce effect Carmen and her emotion in that moment? I imagine a lot of the biology nerds have soooo many questions
I am wondering something similar. Like if they share one reproductive system, how can one be asexual and the other not. Like does the same touch not cause the same hormones? How could one feel lust etc. while the other doesn't? I guess it's not as physical as I thought
Apart from the psychological side, the only biological explanation I have is that their receptor regulation is differently. We're talking epigenetics and different absorption & metabolics. Kinda like how different people can have a different uptake when taking medication. Besides hormone regulation is a lot of feedback loops between endocrine organs & the brain, considering they have their own brain, they'll most likely have a different regulation.
2:33 This is why I hate the school system. When will they EVER be in a situation where they will have to do their own work, tasks, etc? They are literally conjoined lmao. Now I understand that they will probably and have at some point done something without the other sister, but back to what I was saying with the school system, why go out of your way to force them to have to think without using the other in work? Idk it just seems so boomer to me.
They are so amazing, they must be really strong to be where they are now, I admire them ❤ It is harsh to think about but my question would be... what happens if one of them dies? Since they don't share a heart or brain, would there be a surgery? On a less morbid note, how do you get some time for yourself, to really feel alone?
They both seem so chill and just awesome people. I love both of their personalities. I’m sorry they have to deal with people dehumanizing them and disrespecting them.
I would guess wear and tear for conjoined twins would occur earlier than average with the awkward positioning even if they are used to it while they are young.
Being aroace but being conjoined to a person who isn't and just having to come to all their dates and see everything they do together...that's gotta be rough.
As an autistic person, they probably wouldn't want to be separated, as it's apart of who they are! Autistic and disabled people don't want a "cure" for their disabilities, they want understanding on what it's like from *their* point of view and not a cure. As it is people who have no idea what it's like to be disabled, that think it's such a bad thing, that it needs to be "prevented" or "cured", when it might not be that bad as what ableds make it out to be... This is what people in the comments mean that you have to be careful with what you say, because it might be "ableist"

I really loved how the identical twins connected instantly with Carmen and Lupita by shared experiences as twins.
Yes! All of their faces lit up, it warmed my heart.
I noticed that too
Wow, i didn't notice it! You are so observant
it's likely not a reflex; their spines split at the torso. any nerves that are responsible for mouth movements and cognition wouldn't be that far down. if anything, they had been prepped for the questions beforehand (as a lot of these types of interviews go) and possibly had the general answer written out already. i can only speculate about what they were thinking, but their nerves wouldn't be connected that far up
@@neonhalos It’s far more likely that each has their own spine all the way down.

Super powerful words!
@@_raindrops Valid point, thanks for sharing!
For me, it also highlights the difference between denial and acceptance (without resignation).
@@_raindrops Thank you!!

@@emanfication They don't share brains and are not telepathic, they are just around each other 24/7 so at some point you begin to predict the mannerisms of the person you're constantly around
@@jsilberg Definitely seems to be more than that, but that could explain it!
I noticed that too!
I think they should have been allowed to work together in tests. I mean they are going to be together their whole life and benefit from each other
On the same token, kids should be allowed access to phones during tests because they will always have them on them during adulthood
The way that you are framing it would more be classified as an impairment. Disability, especially in the social model of disability, is framed more as societal attitudes and environments that disable someone/people, as opposed to their different physical abilities. Hope that makes sense :)
disabled people are often touchy about labels
Some people with disability are okay with the label, some aren’t. It’s like the pronoun thing. If we know the preference, it’s easy to respect their choice.

“We just have to keep going because we have to spite everyone that thinks that we can’t” I love that.
As someone who has chronic back and neck pain, my question would be are they always uncomfortable or sore having to have their arms raised
They’re probably used to it
I would guess wear and tear for conjoined twins would occur earlier than average with the awkward positioning even if they are used to it while they are young.
I was thinking this during the whole video
@@jewellui what you mean wear and tear
My question would be do they experience pain?
Being aroace but being conjoined to a person who isn't and just having to come to all their dates and see everything they do together...that's gotta be rough.
They both seem so cool!!! 🥹🥹🥹 very chill and open! 💕💜✨
I can't wait for a future where people like Carmen and Lupita, through medical science, can have separate bodies without risking harm to the other.
Yea
But it probably won't happen for a few decades
As an autistic person, they probably wouldn't want to be separated, as it's apart of who they are! Autistic and disabled people don't want a "cure" for their disabilities, they want understanding on what it's like from *their* point of view and not a cure. As it is people who have no idea what it's like to be disabled, that think it's such a bad thing, that it needs to be "prevented" or "cured", when it might not be that bad as what ableds make it out to be... This is what people in the comments mean that you have to be careful with what you say, because it might be "ableist"
Well, it is possible under some circumstances but clearly not here as they share most organs
it's unfortunately impossible. They have a common digestive system.
Me too
