    What's warped is that THIS is how exes should treat each other. Put the positivity, and the child first. THIS is RIGHT, and the peer pressure to hate, the trend of jealousy, is WRONG.

      Clobbersaurus I mean, some people come from abusive relationships, like my parents. It is an ideal situation, but there is a reason parents get in these situations in the first place... some people don’t want to be parents even, after they separate from the other parent.
      It is a beautiful statement and dream, but a lot of the time not the case.

    • @foodislife728
      @foodislife728 6 років тому +1

      Clobbersaurus why would anyone put someone else's child before their own that's just not how it works. reality is different and that's how we were born. no blood connection no unconditional love!!!

    • @bokarndiaye323
      @bokarndiaye323 6 років тому +3

      I disagree with you, EatwithmeASMR. There's plenty of counterexamples to this: many adopted children, or children in reboud families, have the unconditional love of their parents, and many biological parents don't provide unconditional love - think of parents who are abusive to their child, or who throw them out because they're gay (which is litteraly putting the condition of being straight to their parental love...). So, you can't equate blood connection and unconditional love, because obviously, one can exist without the other, and having one doesn't guarantee the other.

    Oh I love my step dad. I love him more than my real dad. I didnt accept him at first but he was a trooper. He is the only parent that went to my PTA meetings. Took me to and from sleepovers, picked me up from school sick. Drool and snotted all over him as he rub my back while I had a very bad upper respiratory infection. Took me to the hospital as I had a hard time breathing. Held me as I cried over my first heart break. Taught me how to drive. Never once did he tell me he my dad or that I was his daughter. He didnt have to, he just showed it. I gladly call him dad cuz he earned it.

    This is the 1st time I've EVER seen a blended family that looks and acts like mine (minus the instruments). I LOVE my son's stepmother for the way she LOVE'S our son. When my son woke up on his 9th Birthday he came straight to my bed, laid next to me and said he'd never love someone else more than he loves me. I said "awwwwww, baby me too"! Then he wasted no time asking me if he could call his step mother mom.... I cried almost immediately. ONLY because my son has ADHD and is SUPER DUPER HYPER. MOST ppl can't handle it, and make him feel like he's a bad kid... including some of his teachers. This makes him assume that most adults just dont like him or want to be around him. So, when he experienced the opposite reaction from her, it made him feel like he was loved and accepted by someone other than ME. At that moment I knew that she was a blessing to him, his father and I. I happily told him OF COURSE BABY..... WHATEVER IS IN YOUR HEART.

    This is why I always argue when people say parents should stay together for the sake of the kids. If the parents aren't getting along, but divorce could give the kid a loving family like this (and like mine), then it should be an option. And I know that unfortunately not all divorced or blended families are like this, but I firmly believe that it's not because of the divorce in those cases. It's because of the people.

    • @EreneWOlson
      @EreneWOlson 9 років тому +7

      +Cassidy Parker Knight when people say stay together for the sake of the kids i'm pretty sure they mostly mean if the relationship is damaged but still repairable. I think it's just to say try a little harder for the kids since although a lot don't have this but, a two parent household is the norm. Also every child is different and handles situations in different ways, so it's basically saying just keep your child's feelings in mind when thinking about divorce.

    • @victoriahillmitchell3982
      @victoriahillmitchell3982 9 років тому +13

      +Daisy Long the selfish thing is to put your child through misery because you dont believe in divorce. your child should never think a norm relationship is fighting and mistreating. after 4 years of staying for my child I decided I was worth more then lies, & cheating.. my son is great and his step dad is his best friend. you are right we will all issues but you should not be unhappy.

    • @victoriahillmitchell3982
      @victoriahillmitchell3982 9 років тому +1

      +Daisy Long people change. you go through different stages before you settle into who you truly are. my son was not planned and before you throw the you should've used protection, I did and it became detatched. so how bout you shut your judgemental trap. its awesome when parents can stay together but if they cant its wonderful when you find someone who loves your child as much as you do.

    • @catk5857
      @catk5857 9 років тому +3

      This is so true! My parents are divorced and it's hard on me, but that's not because of the fact that they're split up, it's because unfortunately my mum continues to be toxic about it. All I want is for both my mum and dad to be happy, but they won't let that happen. And yet despite this I'm so glad they're not together, because as broken as my family is, it would be more broken if they were. Thanks for commenting this, because it's a really important message, and thanks soul pancake.

      +Cassidy Parker Knight I could not agree more. My parents divorced too and I often wish that there was some sort of relationship like this. My experience has taught me that should I marry someone who is divorced with kids, I'd make sure I treat them with love and respect that I did not receive from my step-parent. You are right, its the people who make things work.

      Do *not* tell me otherwise until you wear my boots.
      None of us were told growing up how our families can be played into the drama as well.

    So my father left me and my mother when I was 2 DAYS old - at the hospital. They were law students then and were supposedly in love, problem is, my mother didn't know that he already had a pregnant girlfriend in the province. So he left to go back to his other baby momma and left us. When I was 3 my mom met her life partner, and I also met the man who would be more of a father to me than my actual father. I have never once felt that I wasn't his child even though we wern't related by blood. We were related by the bond of family and love and that was already more than enough - sure as hell more than what my real father gave me. when I was in High School my father got in touch wih me again, and I figured what the hell, family is family so just forgive. Sometimes I feel like my real father underappreciates my stepdad so much when he should be so embarrassed that my stepdad was raising me while he was off to batman knows where. My stepdad sometimes becomes insecure since my real dad is now a lawyer and can give me more than what my stepdad can. I just want my stepdad to know he is not my stepdad, he's my real father and nothing would ever amount to the love and care he has given me while growing up. Gonna write a letter and tell him how grateful i am, that because of him I never felt like I lacked something because my biological dad wasn't there. So here's to stepparents. ♡

      @naomirae2 8 років тому +16

      I went through the same thing and it is true that your dad ( the MAN that raised you) is going to feel insecure. That's normal but you need to reassure him of your feelings. On your biological fathers case , mine actually got back together with my mother so he feels this "relief" like he can just brush off what he has done. It's really weird but as long as you know who loved and raised you, I'm sure you'll be alright ! Much love ❤️

      That is so nice, I bet it will make him very very happy. I got married at 24, my husband already had two kids 9 and 11 years old. people don't realize how hard it is for stepmoms and stepdads. I wish their mom could have gotten past the differences she had with their dad so that we could have made things easier for the kids. I loved them with all my heart and the hardest thing for me was to pull back from them at a certain point because their mum was making them feel bad and guilty for loving me and enjoying their time with me, she made them feel like they were betraying her. Today those two kids are all grown up and I can honestly say I hope I was a little ray that made them feel a little more comfortable if not a little more happy. I have two kids of my own now a 10 years old and a 4 years old, and I have promised myself if me and their dad decide to go our seperate ways I will do everything I can in my power to be nice to the new woman that would come in their life. See knowing my husband I have no doubt that he would bring a bad person on his kids life, because he loves them, and that is what we have to keep in mind...

      Fangirl Faye damn wish I could relate. Dad left me and my mum when I was 1. My mum started serial dating and introducing every single guy to me, regardless of the seriousness of their relationship. She finally got married 2 years ago after knowing the guy for a month at most. He treats me like I don't exist, and it feels like I'm living in a house with strangers. Luckily I'm moving out next year but it just sucks that I never had a father figure and my mum was always seeking attention from men so I never had a strong relationship with her either.

And be able to see my parents in the same room together at least once, bc I never have, I was 1 when they divorced and the wars between them began, but this also makes me so happy because that boy will grow up with love and he will be one of the lucky few who maybe won't have to deal with depression or feeling of emptiness not having a certain parent in his life or growing up around so much hatred. This video was so amazing❤️ makes me certain my kids will never have to grow up In a household with divorced parents, and if they ever did, I would be certain there is no hatred.

      SCP-087 just remember it is perfectly normal for them to not get along, when relationships (especially a marriage) end there will always be certain feelings that "muddy the waters" so to speak, but it is also perfectly normal for you to love them both, when you get older ask both of them for there sides of the story, and come to your own conclusion. My father abandoned my family when I was two, and for most of my life no one would speak about him except for in negative ways, so when I moved out at 18 I tracked him down, and started talking to him, eventually I got his side of the story and found his reasoning for leaving to be inadequate, and I hated him for the longest time, but as I got older I began to realize that I couldn't go around holding on to that hatred, it was ruining my life. So I did the only thing I could think of, i tried to forgive him; except I never got the chance as he committed suicide before I could. Now everyday I feel horrible for how things turned out, and i wish I had just one more chance to see him and tell him that I forgive him. I guess the point I'm trying to make is whoever was at fault for the divorce, you don't have to hate them for it, as in my experience that is no way to live. Love your family with every ounce of your being, as they're the only one you have, and this is the only shot at life we get.

Have a great day and DFTBA.

    I am grateful! When my parents got divorced they stayed in same house in different rooms with their 6 children just bc they wanted to stick with us even tho it's hard to see you ex husband/wife everyday and I don't know how difficult it was for them but they did it for us and I really appreciate that!!! I am not going to deny that there were couples of fights, argues and disagreements but after all we became so strong and so successful and well raised by these two !!! In 2008 my dad passed away I miss him! And now me and my brother are staying with my mom and our oldest brothers and sisters are married having kids ! Life just goes up and down and you have to stay strong and positive!!

      It is common for Humans who had a good realationship with their parents. That those persons, automatically choose a partner who looks a bit like their parents.
      So if the man had a great realationship with his mom, then he would more likely chooes a partner who looks, act, behave or sounds bit like his mother.
      60-70% Men
      30-40% Women
      It is most likely not because he/she finds it attractive.

    My family was much like this. My mom and dad divorced when I was two and my sister was four. To me, them living apart was the norm. They were both very active in our lives growing up. Both remarried to other divorcees with kids when I was around five. We were never that close to my step-dads kids as they were over ten years older then us and already in college. My step-mom had two kids (around our ages from her first marriage). She and my mom knew each other from high school and were always friendly with each other. My dad and step-dad get along fine too. My mom always invited my dad, my step-mom, her kids to any events like birthdays, sports games, etc. They always sat together too. When my mom and step-dad had my younger brother, my dad and step-mom would often invite him on outings (camping, white-water rafting, etc). They didn't want him to feel left out. My step-dad isn't into the out-doorsy activities and had it not been for my dad, my younger half-brother would not have had the chance to do those type of activities. My parents made sure never to fight in front of any of us or to ever say a bad word about each other or the step-parents/siblings. Now that we have kids of our own, every kid has three sets of grandparents (my mom and step-dad are Grams and Papa, my dad and step-mam are Poppy and Mimi, and the inlaws parents are usually Grandma and Grandpa). The best thing you can do for your kid is to remember to treat the other parent and the step-parent with respect and to not talk badly about them. This will make a blended family so much easier on your kids. This should be about your kid's feelings, not about your own. So you had a nasty divorce. Get over it for your kid's sake because no kid wants to hear you talk bad about their mom/dad. It will only create animosity towards you.

      Maite Mena my parents got divorced when I was 14 but they were acting like adults and they didn’t dissed each other behind each other’s back for example like staying with my dad and he’s talking about my mother but they didn’t do that,and they explained that they don’t love each other and they can’t live together anymore but my dad kept visiting us and was always there when we needed him in everything and my mom too.the important thing is you must not remove your ex from his/her children because they need him/her

  • @christianroy4177

    Honestly I didn't realize how important it is to show step parents how much they mean to you. I had a revelation just now that if my stepdad hadn't been in my life, my sister and I would never have had a father figure we could look up to in our lives and we wouldn't be in the amazing place we are now: graduating high school next June and heading off into the Air Force soon after. Before my graduation, probably around may lol, I'm going to write a letter with my sister to my stepdad and my mom to say thank you for the way they raised us and loved us.... I can tell there's going to be a lot of crying, even from my step dad maybe who NEVER cries 😂 stay tuned for an update within the next year on what happened

And when my dad and my stepmother got married everyone started calling her our "New mom" I hate that phrase. My mom wasn't in jail or dead and gone. She was still there perfectly fine. And then my stepmom came in always bossing us around and trying to tell us what to do. I still can't stand her you know she never asked me about me? Never once asked me what's you favorite color. I still can't stand her.

And she also told us to acknowledge her every time she comes into the room meaning you couldn't just let her walk by you had to say hi or hello or you'd get in trouble. She never grew on me, and she never tried to.
